Software Update - old Apple ID

Software Update keeps giving me an older outdated Apple ID when I try and update existing software. Naturally my current password is not accepted. New Apple ID is verified and has been accepted elsewhere in the Apple universe. Any ideas how to completely eradicate old Apple ID?

OLd apple id usually pops out if the software has been purchase/downloaded using that id. if you do not purchase those apps, you can simply delete it and reinstall using the new id. Make sure what you are deleting is not apple original apps that comes with the device.

Thanks for the straightforward tip. I had restarted once already, but the second time was a charm. The install button now works. Don't know if it mattered, but I also repaired disk permissions and then restarted in safe mode this time.
The printer driver is apparently a different issue in itself. It turns out that the my printer, the HP Deskjet F380, has some fluke that makes it incompatible in 10.6. A new driver is coming out from HP according to Rickmeister in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10076690&#10076690
In case anyone else has the same problem with the F380: Like the user in the aforementioned thread, I downloaded and installed the old HP drivers for 10.5, and now at least I can print in the meantime.

  • Is there a software update for Apple's Lion OS and my Officejet 6500A Plus?

Has HP released a software update for Apple's new Lion OS (10.7.2)?  My HP OfficeJet 6500A Plus can't find my computer most of the time. scan to computer no longer works since I installed Lion. Now the printer is not recognizing an HP-brand yellow ink cartridge--I've installed TWO new ones already! What a waste. HELP!
    Thanks,
    Jim

Had a text from Nokia on my 3 N8 today saying keep your N8 up to date.
Couldn't find an update through 3, but went to the UK Nokia website and managed to update from software version 011.012 to 013.016 which takes the release from PR1.0 to PR1.1
    Update went very smoothly.
Still trying to track down specific details of the fixes and improvements in this update.
However, I have read that in April 2011 there will be a Release PR2.0
I am particularly interested in this as I understand that it will allow user-defined bookmarks to be added to the Home Screen with their particular "icon" rather than the generic icon, so that you can see in a sort of (dare I say it here?) iPhone way which webpage you are going to access...
    We'll see.

Yes, I had the same problem and resolved by the method suggested by Toccolo...... thanks.

  • Software Updates for Apple TV (tried everything in community)

Software updates for Apple TV using HDMI.  My MacBook Pro 2013 does not recognize the Apple TV as a device.  I've tried plugging in HDMI first then AC; AC then HDMI; re-start, etc.  The Apple TV doesn't update through TV and ethernet cable.  Apple TV is 2012 but I can't see it anywhere in order to see for sure.

If you have an AppleTV 2 it does not need a power lead at all when connected over USB.
Ceryain USB to microUSB leads are power only not data, so it could bethe lead.
Also if having issues remove all non-essential USB peripherals/hubs.

  • Problem Connecting to Internet after recent Software Updates from Apple

I have an old iMac 15" flat panel, running OS X 10.3.9, just ran the Software Update an hour ago. Now my computer won't connect to my wireless network via the Airport. I tried to open the Internet Connect apps from Apple and it won't even load, it has this swirling beachball has been on for 15 minutes and it says "Loading Internet Connect..."
Anybody experience something like this! Could this be another Apple blunder with their software update?
I tried, restart, remove the plist of Internet Connect, all those did not help!
    Please help. Thanks

    Try resetting Airport as per this article;
    Resetting AirPort Express
By the way, if your problem has not been solved then leave it as unanswered until such time it is, as you will get more responses.

  • Download software update to Apple TV

How can I connect my Apple TV to receive software updatesplease?

    Thanks for reply Alley Cat
I have managed to get contact by going direct to TV with HDMI lead.  However I am unable to get any sound.
Tried to play a film trailer whic is taking quite a while to download.
Connecting Apple TV prompted software update which took at least 6 hours to download.
My broadband connection probably prevents efficient use of Apple TV but at least sound wd enable ITunes library to play. I get the pictures.

  • Software Updates form apple comand

I have used this unix comand com.apple.softwareupdate
CatalogURL "http://yourservername:8088" to set my mac to get updates form a server. How do I reset the my softeware update to get updates form Apple?

Do you mean you used the following:
    defaults write com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL "http://yourservername:8088"
If so, Software Update should still fall back to the Apple server automatically if your local server is unavailable. However, to remove the local server entry entirely, just use
    defaults delete com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL

  • Software Update (in Apple Menu) No Longer Works

When I click on the software update under the apple menu (10.3.9), nothing happens. It is not grayed out, I get no messages about trouble connecting, just zip. When I go in through system preferences and use the software update ("Check Now"), it does fine. Can anyone explain the disconnect between the apple menu item and the update ? Can anyone help me get it back to being clickable from the pull-down menu ?
    Thank you.

    Sometimes things do happen.
    Have you tried:
    1. Simply restarting the computer? Once in awhile a restart will cure something strange.
    2. Starting up in Safe Mode? This will take quite awhile longer than a normal startup because it does a file check and repair of the hard disk.
You will see your normal desktop. Once completely started up in Safe Mode, restart normally, and go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. Click on the top hard drive icon in the left sidebar and note the S.M.A.R.T. status at the bottom right of the pane. What does it say?
Select the named boot volume in the left sidebar, ("Macintosh HD" unless you've renamed it). Repair permissions on it.
If a simple restart doesn't fix the problem, see if a little hard drive maintenance does it for you.
    Good luck.

  • Software update causing apple TV not to work

I've just downloaded the new software update and I'm stuck on a screen that shows a USB cable below the itunes icon. What am I supposed to hook up? The apple TV light is blinking steady.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hello all,
I would like to find out some more information about this specific issue. If you got this issue (black screen and blinking LED while Ethernet is connected, WiFi networks not found) after updating to Apple TV 5.1, can you please email me <[email protected]> with the answers to these questions:
    1. What does your network look like? For example, what is your router and how is it connected to the Internet? Is your Apple TV getting a DHCP-assigned IP address or is it statically assigned? Do you have any other custom network settings that might be a factor?
    2. What is your Apple TV's device diagnostic ID? Get this by highlighting "Send Data to Apple" in Settings > General and pressing the Right button.
    Thanks,
    Roy

  • June 9 Software Update affects Apple Display

After rebooting from the recent apple software update, the power button on my Apple display remained flashing. The morse code implied something to do with an error in my video card or display connection.
Since I had a motherboard replaced 4 years ago, I have had sporadic display blackouts. I haven't had one for 2 years, all has been fine.
To fix the current display problem, I unplugged the video card, waved my hand over it and said nice things to it, plugged it back in and the display is now working properly, no flashing button and it is considerably brighter.
The card is a ATI Radeon 9600 Pro which is getting hard to find. I don't know if my problem is the card or the plugin socket but the effort has worked once again.

    Hi Topsfield
If I was you I would get a better card . I use the nvidia GeForce 6800GT DDL . Its a great video card but the price is a bit much for it , but it rock with graphics from it . I am powering a dell 30 in screen fine and the color is great . I had the ATI 9600 but I could not run a 30 in screen on my computer . I got mine from ebay and it cost me 250.00 dollars or so .I dont remember the price but thats about it .The card you have its ok but if you want to see some real graphics like in games and other apps .
thats just my two cents about video cards .

  • My software update or apple store icons will not work

everything working okay but the software update will not work . Nothing happens when pressed.  Similarly the connection with the apple store.
One possibility is the correct apple id and password will not work on this machine--it did not update from when I changed it on other apple products.

OK.  Did you have a question?  Do you use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom right hand corner of this page?

  • Can't download updates from either Software Update or Apple Downloads

The update (whether of iTunes 8.2, Security Update 2009-002, or QuickTime) appears to be downloading completely but then I get a red exclamation mark, an "unspecified error" message, and a failure to install. I've run Disk Repair from Install disk, which says disk is fine, and have run extended Hardware Test from Install disk, which says computer is fine. Does anyone else have this problem? Please help! Thanks. -Elroc

*" When I went into Preferences, though, I noticed nearly twenty empty folders with nonsense names like v0ê)∂øˇ‘–†(A. Could that reflect a problem somewhere?"*
Yes it could. Delete any files like that. They could be old preference files from software you don't use anymore. Delete them and restart your Mac.
Don't see the Genius Bar just yet.
Check the hard disk for errors. I know you said you did this but make sure just in case.
Insert the installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
If the hard disk appears to be ok... see if you can download and install the 10.4.11 combo update which contains fixes for 10.5.1 up to 10.4.11 available here.
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eintel.html
If that doesn't work, if it were me, I'd back up my important data and try and Archive and Install.
Instructions here. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710 This does NOT erase the hard disk but restores your system software.

  • Software update in apple tv 2

Finally  hooked up my apple tv2 as I got the tv but now it won't download the new apple tv update  that just came out or any of the other updates
that it should have. 4.3, 4.4, etc.
I have gotten only Can't update at this time?  Are the servers that busy?  My wireless lets me go to internet but can't get sharing working either
I am running Snow Leopard. 10.6.8

You can thank your isp. I had the same problem, open DNS should help ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenDNS ) This is what i done:  Go to System Preferences. Click on Network. Select the first connection in your list and click Advanced. Select the DNS tab and add 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 to the list of DNS servers. Click OK  Now, connect you ATV to your mac via micro usb cable, select restore and thats it!  Then, you can switch back to your previous dns.
