Solaris 10 client - ldap_search: Can't connect to LDAP server
Hello
I have following configuration:
- openLDAP server in Solaris 10 zone called ldap
- native LDAP client in different Solaris 10 zone called mail on the same SPARC machine
I can't get ldapsearch results after ldapclient initialization.
[root@mail ~]# ldapsearch -b dc=pov,dc=pl objectclass=*
ldap_search: Can't connect to the LDAP server - Connection refused
But I am able to get data from LDAP server if address of the server is specified:
[root@mail ~]# ldapsearch -b dc=pov,dc=pl -h 192.168.1.40 objectclass=*
version: 1
dn: ou=users,dc=pov,dc=pl
objectClass: organizationalUnit
ou: Users
Here is ldapclient config:
[root@mail ~]# ldapclient list
NS_LDAP_FILE_VERSION= 2.0
NS_LDAP_SERVERS= 192.168.1.40
NS_LDAP_SEARCH_BASEDN= dc=pov,dc=pl
NS_LDAP_AUTH= none
NS_LDAP_CACHETTL= 0
What am I missing?
Hi, I'm no exprert but I will try to help you. Are you still working on this?
This what my stuff looks like:
# ldapclient list
NS_LDAP_FILE_VERSION= 2.0
NS_LDAP_BINDDN= uid=proxyagent,ou=People,dc=deathnote,dc=net
NS_LDAP_BINDPASSWD= {NS1}ecfa88f3a945c411
NS_LDAP_SERVERS= 10.0.1.21:389
NS_LDAP_SEARCH_BASEDN= dc=deathnote,dc=net
NS_LDAP_AUTH= none
NS_LDAP_CACHETTL= 0
NS_LDAP_CREDENTIAL_LEVEL= proxy
NS_LDAP_SERVICE_SEARCH_DESC= passwd:ou=People,dc=deathnote,dc=net
NS_LDAP_SERVICE_SEARCH_DESC= shadow:ou=People,dc=deathnote,dc=net
NS_LDAP_SERVICE_SEARCH_DESC= group:ou=People,dc=deathnote,dc=net
NS_LDAP_SERVICE_AUTH_METHOD= pam_ldap:simple
[root@light migration]# cat user00.ldif
dn: uid=user00,ou=People,dc=deathnote,dc=net
uid: user00
cn: user00
objectClass: account
objectClass: posixAccount
objectClass: shadowAccount
objectClass: top
loginShell: /bin/bash
uidNumber: 805
gidNumber: 501
homeDirectory: /home/user00
gecos: ldap user
Also update you hosts file and add your server to the domain.
I hope this helps.

Help on ldapsearch: ldap_search: Can't connect to LDAP server -- No error
Hi,
I just want to do a basic search
ldapsearch -h "xxx" -b "dc=yyy.com" -s sub "objectclass=*"
Here is what I got:
ldap_search: Can't connect to the LDAP server -- No error
Please help
Thanks,
LynneSince you havent specified the -p (port) option, the default is taken to be 389. You might want to check that first.
If thats fine, try to ping the host you are trying to access.
One of the above shd solve your problem. -

How to resolve "Connection to LDAP server failed." error?
Hello,
I have installed Coldfusion8 on one of my server that was having ColdFusionMX earlier.
The ColdFusionMX admin settings are automatically transferred to the new Coldfusion8 admin page after installation.
Also I have configured all my websites at the time of installation.
After all when I am trying to login into one of my website system is throwing the below error.
"Connection to LDAP server failed."
Prevously it was working well with coldfusionMX. After installed Coldfusion8 I am facing this problem.
Is there anything to do more with cf admin settings page or is this problem is with the code? (Infact I havent modified my cfm code)
Please find the piece of code that I am using.
<cfldap action="QUERY" server="#application.LDAPServer#" port="#application.LDAPPort#" start="#application.LDAPBase#" name="search" attributes="alias, dn, uid, technicalCareerLevel, locationorgunit, givenName, sn" filter="#filter#" scope="SUBTREE" maxRows="2">
Anybody can assist me on this?
Thanks in advance.
Manoz.I have fixed this problem successfully.
The problem was with the referral attribute of the cfldap tag.
After adding this (referral="yes") attribute to my code I am able to login into my website.

IOS 4 : removing the "can't connect to mail server" messages
Ok, since the new Mail in iOS 4 have a "global inbox", everytime i open the app without being connected on the internet, it send me 5 "can't connect to mail server" message. So i have to click "OK" five times before being able to use the app. It does that even when WiFi is set to off.
Am i the only one ? Is there a setting for that ? Do I have to wait for iOS 4.1 ? Does god really exist ?Your email provider has servers. There are no Thunderbird servers. Thunderbird is email client software that runs on your computer.

Good afternoon. For over a week I can't get email on MY DASH. Can't see mail in my Gmail Viewer. Get a POP3 error ... can't connect to POP server. Thought it may be a Gmail interface issue so tried to get Hotmail and then Earthlink email in the Chumby email app. Both give same message POP3 Error , can't connect to pop3 server. I have done multiplr hard restarts / power off / "restore to normal operation" procedures. I have searched the discussions and community and can find no mention of POP server issues. Please help .... advise. I'm a disabled, but still working, senior citizen without a fancy, internet, cell phone and my Dash's ability to display my email is very important to me. I have the Dash at my bedside and My Dash allows me to see a message from a client before I would otherwise rise. Kind regards, Martin

Can iTunes connect to DLNA server?
Hello.
I am not asking you how to do it, I just want to know if it is possible. I tried Google first, and there was an answer saying "no", but that thread was dated 2007. Maybe there could be any improvements, since 5 years have passed.
There is a Windows Homer Server that holds music. I think it is using DLNA technology. I did not install any special program on it, but all my other devices such as Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Atrix can play music using DLNA clients.
Now, I would also like to see the shared music on iTunes on my MacBook, but I cannot find any option. It would be a little bit odd if iTunes is the only thing that does not talk in the same language while all Windows/Samsung/Motorola devices do.

RF's can't connecting to terminal server.
Hello,
I having trouble with my new terminal server. I am using RF's (intermec & motorola) in my business and We have two terminal servers that is running with 2008r2 standard. RF's can connect to first terminal server unproblematic but can't connect
to other one and getting error as "Because of a security error, the client could not connect to the remote computer, verify that you are logged on the
network, and then try connecting again"
I can connect to all terminal servers with my domain computer via remote desktop connection.
Own enterprise network has PEAP-WPA2 user authentication
Rf's are not in the domain.
I need help from you.
Thanks.Hello everyone,
We found a solution regarding this case with microsoft team. Solution is in the following.
Issue Statement:
Cannot connect RF scanner to a particular server using RDP.
Symptoms:
> The RF scanners are Intermec CK3R devices with windows embedded handheld 6.5 classic installed on them. They fail to connect to
a particular server using RDP. However, same user and device can successfully connect to another server. The server to which the device fails to connect is TRKKTA01-N.
> Never been able to connect to the problem server.
> Both the good and the bad server are Windows 2008 R2.
> The Devices are connecting using per user licenses.
> We can connect to the problem server using a Fat client like Windows 7 machine with the same user ID.
> both the Problem server and the working server are in the same network but on different VLANs.
> On the Scanner, when trying to RDP user gets the following error:
"Because of a security error, the client could not connect to the remote computer, verify that you are logged on the network, and
then try connecting again"
> Already different encryptions have been tried but the connection still fails.
Environment:
RDS server is Windows 2008 R2. Clients are Intermec CK3R devices and OS is Windows embedded handheld 6.5 classic.
Scope Agreement:
We will close the case once we find the cause of the RDP failure and provide a possible fix for it.
If the problem is found to be due to third-party code we will provide information to substantiate this.
Case Status: Resolved.
Steps used to resolve the issue were:
1. Create the following reg key on the license server:
Use512LenPropCert on the Server
Subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\RCM
Registry entry: Use512LenPropCert
Data type: REG_DWORD
Value: 1
2. De-activate the license server
3. Re-activate the server using the telephone method
4. Delete the x509 cert keys from the terminal servers

Safari can't connect to the server, but firefox can
i have a few websites (mainly google sites) that don't show with safari but they do with firefox
i'm getting a "Safari can't connect to the server" error
to take DNS out of the picture i am looking up the ip address for the server and use the ip instead of the domain name so
http://74.125.19.103/images?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=test&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um= 1&sa=N&tab=wi
works in firefox but not in safari
any ideas are more than welcome.
thanks,
tomHello Tom:
No I meant restart the computer. OS X rebuilds preference files as needed, but I am not sure what it does if you do not restart.
You could also reset Safari (that will also delete your cookies).
Just for the heck of it I would also run permission repair and also run repair disk from your software install DVD (those will probably not fix anything, but it does not take much time either).

Hi everybody,
I'm running in an urgent problem, because binding to my OpenDirectory got lost. I've lots of "Module: AppleODClientLDAP - unable to open connection to LDAP server - unable to create connection context" messages in the system.log and OD service stoppped running. In the OD-section no server is listed any longer and all buttons are greyed. All network users for sure are not available, but all other services are up. I didn't changed anything to the existing services but started with the netinstall config. I got the following entries in the systemlog

Are there any steps to perform to get LDAP working again? With all buttons in the server admin OD section greyed out I even can't setup a new directory.

JensI was able to restore the existing server with the automatic OD backup that Server.app creates. When my OD fails to start after a crash and db_recover commands don't work, it's always worked for me to restore the odmaster from a backup using the command:
sudo slapconfig -restoredb /private/var/backups/ServerBackup_OpenDirectoryMaster.sparseimage
I'm careful to keep an independent OD backup with Carbon Copy Cloner and this preflight script.
You can also grab an earlier version of the sparse image ServerBackup_OpenDirectoryMaster.sparseimage from a Time Machine backup. It's also possible to rsync the database files directory from a Time Machine backup. -

But no driver for SQL CE.

I wanna choose Access as a db. but I can't find that so I have a no choice to select SQL2000CE though.

I have had to restore my Ipod Touch and now I can't connect to anything on it. When it asks for my Apple ID it comes up with an error message and says that it can't connect to the server. I have checked my WiFi connection and its connected.

Have you looked through Pondini's extensive TM help site?

Error: Can't connect to auth server at /var/run/dovecot/auth-master: No such file or directory
error showing up, there is no auth-master file in /var/run/dovecot
this has just happnened over night
any ideas how to re-install dovecot
google search goes on about linux but barely any info about max osx serverauth-master is created when you start the mail service. Deleted if you stop the mail service. If that is not happening, you may have to re-install mail. Dovecot is the IMAP/POP part of the mail service. I am not sure what happens if you disable IMAP. I am guessing it is not there. But that is the extent of any tips I can offer. I suppose you could reinstall, but that seems a bit extreme to me.
