Solaris 9 made me Crazy

Hi There!
I never thought that inslaling Solaris 9 will be such a big challenge for me! It has been days since I am trying to install it.
1. First it was not picking up my Ethernet Card... now it is loading the Ethernet card but giving me BAD PRB or PBR Sig error What does it means? i read some discussion saying that.... I need to run fdisk in order to over ride on this problem but still I am getting same errors.. I have 40 GIG new maxtor HDD ...and want to run both Windows XP and Solaris on the same HDD but in different partition... Wut you guys suggest me to do? Detail help will be highly appreciated as I am new to Solaris.

Problems:
1.     I can not access the Internet using Solaris Netscape
2.     It says �log host could not be resolved
3.     It says � hostname unknown�
4.     In correct block count
5.     unqualified host name
Seeking help for:
1.     how to get access to internet
2.     how to resolve above problems
3.     how to see my see my CD or hard drive I plugged onto the system
after
Solaris installation.
I am currently reading a Solaris 9 book but it will take ages to
understand
and then resolve above problems. I would appreciate if you please give
me
your expert advice to overcome above problems.

VA03 and SHD0 made me crazy

Hi guys,
I am working on a 4.7 release.
I'm trying to create a transaction variant from VA03 without any prices informations. I define a new one VA03_L in SHD0 with all screen variants needed displaying prices. But when i m testing it some details from items table control still appear. Do you have any idea ? I tried to modify SD document type in VOV8 but it's only for VA01. I tried to manage TC administration settings but i do not see the link.

PS: Sorry for my poor english level.

Transaction variant works differently with the Sales order transactions like VA01, VA02, VA03.
You need to follow certain naming convention for Screen Variant to make them working.
E.g. If your transaction variant name is ZVA01_NEW than your screen variants name must be:
ZVA01_NEW_4401, if your screen variant is for the scren 4401 and so on.
One more point, I noticed with the screen variants for the VAxx transactions is Active/inactive of Function code is not working properly.

USB made me crazy!

Hello,
I bought S206 netbook, and I'm really satisfied, it's great!
But I found a couple of annoying problems related to USB ports:
1) USB 3.0 does not detect USB Hard disk (that HDD works if plugged in USB 2 port)
2) Generally speaking USB ports have problems to detect devices. For example, I cannot install my printer Canon Pixma MP780, either using Win 7 x86 or x64.
I got problems even detecting a normal USB key.
So have you similar problems ?
I tried to install USB3 drviers but the problem persists. Can you help me please?

Deploying Adobe Creative Cloud via GPO

A few months ago my long and lasting journey with Adobe CC started and I was pretty eager to deploy the software in our enterprise. As it comes out, with a little help from Adobe, that just made me crazy and a few pretty pointless and sensless tests I finally managed it somehow to get Adobe CC deployment via GPO. None of our users have local admin rights due to restrictive policy in our enterprise. All testing and configuration was made on Windows 7 Enterprise (x86 and x64) machines.
As we don't use SCCM in our environment it was critical to use "simple" GPO rollout for software. As there are MSI's with all the packages I started my journey...
To start it all of:
As it seems, you cannot buy licenses any more permanent and you can buy them via subscription. OK, that's one way to go and since we need all these products in future we went in evaluating it. Since we cannot buy licenses in a big order like adobe wants us to we were only left to buy the creative cloud for teams and not for enterprise. Still, this was fine to, since adobe offered the cloud packager and a lot of documentation, i thought at least.
To test and make sure that we can deploy all of the wanted features of creative cloud we bought 2 licenses for the IT-staff. During testing, late semptember/october 2014, with the cloud packager in version 1.6 I was able to deploy the packages and software as we wanted. Just as information, we wanted our users to have Bridge, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamveawer, Prelude and the most important thing, we did NOT want the creative cloud desktop application due to company restrictions. Well as mentioned before everything worked as charm and I was just happy to start ordering the licenses for all of our users and get things done
Well, as a lot surely know, the process of ordering the licenses and getting things rolling in a enterprise sometimes takes a little (more) time. After about one or two months later everything was ready and set and I was feeling like this is going to be a piece of cake. Make new packages with the cloud packager, create the gpo's, test the deployment, invite the users and I'm the king of the jungle.
That was what I thought...
Adobe was so nice to release the newer and more improved version (I think 1.7 or 1.8) of the cloud packager, that suddenly hasn't been able to deactivate the creative cloud desktop application. Well, not a problem I thought to myself, I'll just uninstall it later on and it's fine. Since there are about 20 users that were getting the software it would be a not so nice job, but once done it's done and it shouldn't happen again.
Then i was hit by Adobe with a colossal fist right in the face! Why are you asking? Well as I mentioned above, the deployment via GPO worked fine and now? Not anymore, since the exception deployer couldn't install the applications it just broke everything and didn't even try to install the other applications that don't need the exception deployer. After a few e-mails and further testing, run as local admin, run installation after being copied to local, I lost fate that this is ever going to work.
Adobe gave me the best help they could and I even had a deployment expert in on a web session and he gave me a short commandlet (exception deployer) and said that it has to work this way but surprise, it didn't. As I was getting more and more frustrated by this situation and the exception deployer I started to shrink down the packages as much as possible so that there are no applications that needed to be deployed with the exception deployer. I run tests and guess what? It worked! Man, was I happy that after almost a month things started getting in the right shape. As I couldn't sleep because of this mess I started testing the applications that Adobe techs said needed the exception deployer. I created a new package just for Lightroom 5 (yeah, I know there is a newer version out now, but not at that moment) and saw that it landed in this exception folder that is made during packaging with the cloud packager. I was just curious to test it and made a new GPO for just Lightroom, as a MSI was also within the package I figured, why not give it a try? It worked again!?! I was pretty surprised due to the information that it shouldn't be working, as Adobe techs stated.
The simpler problem was the creative cloud desktop application. After having the Adobe techs in on a websession they stated, that it should work if I choose enterprise licensing to get rid of this software. But due to Adobe's updating policy of the creative cloud packager, there has been a newer version released (1.9) that opted out this feature to deactivate the installation of the creative cloud desktop application. I thought myself, why? Just please tell us why Adobe do we need this? But OK, there was also a solutions for this problem, the adobe creative cloud cleaning tool. If you create and XML file that is being read from the cleaning tool you can run this and "almost silently" uninstall the software via GPO. I gave it a shot and it works like a charm.
To be honest I thought, that Adobe due to it's status as THE software company when it comes to creating/editing multimedia content they would know about the problems some of their customers across the globe could be having. As it seems, they don't care enough or haven't ever had somebody with a similar problem(what I cannot believe, but all right) to share some more detailed information about a case like this.
I know, why have we bought it, if we don't need any cloud space? Well it's simple, Adobe creative products are needed and the CS6 products won't be here forever so it's better to start sooner than later with migration to a newer release. Still I was hoping to get more help from Adobe....

None of these packages needed the exception deployer to be run. It was all tested on different (also different machine specs) 32bit and 64bit machines. The OS was always Windows 7 Enterprise.
To uninstall the creative cloud desktop application i wrote a batch file:

Updating of the Adobe products is done with Secunia CSI in our enterprise, but there is also the posibility to remotely run the updatemanager.exe or via logon/logoff script.
What I also found out, was the dependency of vcredist for adobe products. You need the 2010, 2012 of them and most importantly in the x86 and x64 version! In case you get a .DLL missing error.
I hope this here helps someone who has lost a lot of nerves and a lot of time due to the deployment of Adobe creative cloud applications. I stil hope that there is going to be a better and easier way to deploy this.
Excuse me for the bad english, good luck with your deployment and maybe we can get Adobe a bit smarter from our all experience to make us a good deployment method.

Please Help: Lost everything because of switch to ...

Tuesday 8th July. A week ago today I was switched to BT Infinity from ADSL with a non BT ISP. I had 2.5 years of bomb proof internet on ADSL. It didn’t ever go down or slow from 4-5Mbs. However I made the crazy decision to switch to Infinity for, ironically, a faster and more reliable service.
Immediately after installation of my Fibre my connection speed went DOWN from 5Mbs on adsl to 0.5-1Mbs. It was immediately obvious to me something was wrong. I insisted the installation engineers stay and watch a speed check but they said this was “perfectly normal” for the settling in period. Before they’d even left my drive way it crashed and continued to crash over the next 24 hours for up to several hours at a time. Speeds varied from 0.5 – 1.5Mbs.
On Thursday 10th I took several hours off work and spent it on the phone to India where they eventually booked me an engineer to look at my line the next day. Someone from a UK call centre called me on Friday to say they’d attempted to remotely repair my line and it had failed and they’d need to send an engineer out.
On Sunday 13th the BT Open Reach engineer arrived at 2.30pm (I’d cancelled a family day out to the annual village fete). He insisted on checking all the house wiring, despite me pointing out that the wiring was fine as the adsl had worked perfectly previously, I repeatedly pointed out it was a problem outside our home. He left in a hurry at 4 saying he’d return tomorrow.
Monday 14th I had to take a day’s leave on Monday to await the OPen Reach engineer who was not the same guy as Sunday. He was pleasant and professional but again insisted on testing all my home lines and then spent all afternoon replacing the lot. He completely rewired the house, rerouting the phone lines into a new socket, drilling walls etc. His tests did not show any problems on the line at my house or at the cabinet. He called technical help whilst I was there who said they couldn’t detect any problems on the line. However the internet was still very very variable and I insisted he call back. This time they stated the “interleaving” was off on my download and switch it on (BT’s guidance says it is NOT an option to switch this off for fibre so why was it off?). This appeared to stabilise the internet at 18Mbs download and 7Mbs up with a long latency of 60-70 on the ping.
Tuesday 15th Awoke and it was still working! I dared to hope. Too soon though. My wife has just called me on her mobile, very angry, we have now lost not only the internet but the phone too! The line is completely dead.
I’ve reached the end of what I can cope with. I cannot take more time off work whilst engineers visit. I cannot even call and sit in a queue for hours to India as I have no phone (this was sent from my works Email). I work from home a lot and I’m in danger of losing my job because of a combination of time off and an inability to connect to the works network. This is wrecking my life.
I live in the village of Great Eccleston, Lancashire and know there were issues with “the cabinet” a few months ago from the BT engineers who visited and that engineers were working on the lines in our street yesterday as damp had got into the junction (but this ended at lunch yesterday and my phone was still working).
I have repeatedly requested this is resolved externally, that I’m given a “lift and shift” in the cabinet to a new circuit, but was told yesterday BT wholesale were reluctant to do this. Each time I call the call centre I have to explain everything again to a new person, same when an engineer visits. When the engineers visit they insist they will sort it but make it worse. There is no continuity at all. All I can think to do now is Email the CEO of BT.
I have to go home now but will check this tomorrow.

HT4623 the Icons on my iphone 4...suddenly get extreemly large, I don't know why. I can't use the phone when this happens, I have to shut off the phone, which is a problem, just finding the red arrow and making it go across the screen to shut down...help

does anyone know what is going on with my phone? I don't think I'm causing this, but you never know. my home page where the phone, camera, messages, etc...all the icons will get giant....maybe 3 will be on the screen instead of the normal 20.....I have to move the screen around to find what I need to open and then I cannot...so I turn off the phone, when the red arrow appears, and have to hold down one side of the screen to make the arrow move, If I try to slide it over with my finger..........I can't get it to the end.....eventually the phone will shut off and then I turn it on again and the icons are normal....but this happens several times a week and I would like it not to happen , what can I do?

Could not set host credential in EM for my windows vista laptop

I am using Vista and try to use Host Credential in EM, but when I entered my username and password( for operating system), EM always show me wrong username.
I searched from google, some people suggest:
1. Control Panel, Administrative Tools.
2. Click on Local Security Policy.
3. Local Policies, User Rights Assignment.
4. Double click, 'Log on as a batch job'
But,as you know, Vista does not have a Local Security Policy in Administrative Tools. So anybody know how to set up host credential?
This made me crazy!

Is there any other ways except changing operating system?Unfortunately no, there is no other way. Oracle is not supported to run over Home edition of Vista. As I mentioned before, only 3 out of all the versions of Vista are supported by ORacle to run its software.
There is no workaround mentioned/available for this as the option to do the job for your issue is not available in the Home edition, you can't drive a car which doesn't have steering wheel and wheels , doesn't matter how good mechanic you are ;-) .

PS CS6: Images sometimes not saved when using Close All and instructed to save

I thought I had made a crazy mistake when this happened earlier today, but it just did it again and I was paying close attention.
I often open multiple images to make several changes, then use Close All and when it prompts "Do you want to save changes to ... before closing?" I check off the box to "Apply to all" and say Yes. This saves lots of time when adjusting several multi-hundred MB images. Imagine my surprise today when it closed an image without saving! I had to repeat about 30 minutes of work as a result.
I thought I had somehow accidentally clicked "No" to saving, so I made sure to pay close attention the next few times I used Close All to save work. It worked fine until a moment ago when it did it again.
Has anyone seen something like this? I can't find anything in searching. In all my time using this feature in PS I never once had a problem before.

I just upgraded to CS6 from CS5 a few days ago, and this is my first week in heavy usage.
I do have Save in Background turned on. I am saving locally. I also have auto recovery saves turned on, at 5 minute intervals (CS6 has crashed a few times on me)
Yesterday I used Close All with Save maybe 10 times, and it exhibited this behavior 2 of those times.
In the two cases, I had 3 PSDs open, each a little over 400 mb in size. It seemed to save two of the images, but left one unsaved. I noticed that instead of spending several seconds saving, it would quickly just close that image - as though it believed no changes had been made. The changes that had been made to the image were routine - add some adjustment layers, some masks etc.
I have tried to reproduce it by opening the same images, making similar changes and then repeating Close All with Save, but so far no (bad) luck. Idle speculation - could it have something to do with the frequent interval of autorecovery saves that I do? Some kind of conflict? Or is it something to do with background saves? Definitely never saw this in previous versions of PS.
As a workaround, I have made a simple action that saves an image and apply it in batch. I just can't risk losing work.

The truth about objects, references, instances and cloning (Trees and Lists

As a few of you may have know from my postings over the past few weeks, ive been building my first real java ap and trying to learn along the way, hitting a few snags here and there.
One main snag i seem to have been hitting a fair bit is objects and instances, im kinda learning on how they work and what they mean but as a php programmer it seems to be very different.
as pointed out to me if you have objectA=objectB then in php you have two objects that share the same value but in java you have still one object value and one object pointing to the value.
sooo my first question is
if i have this
Object objA=new Object()
Object objB=objA()then object A creates a new memory allocation for the object data right? and object B is simply a reference to the object A memory allocation right?
so therefore there is no instance of objectB? or is there an instance of object B but it just takes up the same memory allocation as object A?
anyway, what is the point of being able to say objB=objA what can that be used for if not for making a copy of an object (i understand now that it doesnt copy an object)
My second question (which i think i actually understand now, but im posting it to see if the answers may help others)
If i have a List structure (e.g. arraylist) then when i add a datatype such as a treemap does it not add the changed treemap, ill try and explain with code

Being used to Java, I used an OO approach and created classes managing data structures and having setter/getter methods. The fact that PHP did actually create a copy of any object being passed as and argument made me crazy. This way, I wasn't able to reach the same instances from several different places in my code. Instead, I had to put a certain operator ("&" I think) before any reference to force PHP not to make a copy but pass the reference. I also found a note on the PHP site saying that copying was faster than passing the reference, which I actually couldn't believe. If I'm not wrong, they changed the default behaviour in PHP5.

The reference itself just takes up a few bytes in order to maintain some administrative data (such as the memory address). the same memory allocation as object A?There is an instance of objectB, but it's just the same instance that objectA is pointing at. Both references objectA and objectB contain the same memory address. That's why they'd produce a result of "true" if compared using the "==" operator.
anyway, what is the point of being able to say
objB=objA what can that be used for if not for making
a copy of an object (i understand now that it doesnt

If there was no way to pass a reference to an object into a method, methods wouldn't be able to affect the original instance.

Where is option to have side bar in iTunes 12 ?

Since, 11 iTunes has been disabling my option of having the sidebar... which is annoying... but now I cant find the option to have it again... since I found this better and easier to use than that ribbon of silly icons... It is a pain in the neck dragging a song to my iPod, in its specific playlist(still don't know how to do it properly in this new version) ... This is why I had the side bar, it was constant to the GUI design of Finder...
Please enable the option to have iTunes sidebar again... the flat GUI is irritating as it is, but getting rid of the option to have the sidebar just made me crazy, mad and insane.

I found my own answer for those who are interested. From the "Playlist View" with Library -> Music selected in the Sidebar on the left, notice that "Albums" is the default in the menu bar at the far right. There is a drop-down selection arrow there. Click that and select "Songs" to put the library view back in "Column Browser" view. Very cumbersome to set up, but it does appear that iTunes 12 will re-open to your last view so hopefully I don't have to go thru all those clicks every time.

Final Cut 6.06 & pdf files

Hi,
I'm working on a project in fcp 6.06.
I've received a powerpoint presentaion (pdf format) to accompany the video.
I convert this in Photo Shop to 720x576, import to fcp & it looks ok..
Some of the files within that .pdf look the same but are different as in when imported to PS I get the text but
background is grey/white boxes and not white. As in transparent. Is there a way to change this?
In general when receiving presentations from people whats the best format to ask for?

I don't have any experience with keynote, but powerpoint (I think) will approximately maintain the current screen resolution when you export as tiff, etc. It's one of the many things that always made me crazy about powerpoint. Would be great if you could actually set the actual resolution of the exports.

HI guys, recently, I have to read the data in MS SQL2008 into the oracle11gr2. At the first glance, I thought about the GateWay.
there are two servers in my team(run on vmware), which are:
server A: 192.168.184.130, winserver2003, 64 edition, MS server2008 installed, SP2 installed
server B: 192.168.184.134, winserver2003, 64 edition, oracle11gr2 and gateway installed, SP1.
on server A, the table of msdb.dbo.user_sqlserver2008 is the one the Oracle plans to read.
on server B, the ORACLE_HOME is C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1, and the GATEWAY_HOME is C:\product\11.2.0\tg_1, both are default directories.
after the gateway component was installed, I configured the following files:
1. created C:\product\11.2.0\tg_1\dg4msql\admin\initmsdb.ora, the contents in this file are:

after that, restarted the listeners for gateway and for orcl instance and the orcl instance as well, then on server B, logon as the user msdb possessing the resource and dba role,(what's more, there is another user id msdb on sqlserver2008, who is the owner of msdb database)
ran the following sql script via plsql:
1. create database link msdb connect to msdbadmin identified by "oracle_4u" using 'msdb';
2. select * from dbo.user_sqlserver2008@msdb
the script No.1 was successfully completed, while an error message was got in script 2. the message is:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:

On the gateway side you don't need to specify the port number when your SQL Server is listening on the default port. But in your update you also mentioned that you had to configure also the SQL Server to use port 1433 - this indicates that it wasn't configured earlier ... so the SQL Server was using dynamic ports and when you use dynamic ports and the gateway you have to make sure on the SQL Server side the SQL Browser service is running AND you specify the instance name in your HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO like HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=192.168.184.130/<instance name of the SQL Server>/msdb

Why the HELL did I ever try any other distro?

Let me preface my comments by saying I was, at one point, a gentoo fanboy. That is, until I discovered I could get a system up and running that's just as fast as a gentoo box in oh, a third of the time.

My first try of linux was moreless in 1997. I tried RH and Caldera ;-) They survived in my PC about 1 week. It seemed to be a big virus :-)
Then, in 2000-2001, i bought my actual PC, and installed XP. But it was horribly slow, so, hating MS, tried Linux again, with RH.
But, again, the same problem: i had the sensation that i a lot of sofware was running or installed, and, didn't know why. That mixture of GTK and QT made me crazy. I prefer seeing how the things are made, before, seeing the whole thing, and discovering, how it was made.
So, i discovered a thing that sounded fine: Linux from scracth (LFS).
I made love with LFS ;-) for about 3 years. I learned what software is, how it works, the dependencies. But, not a the first try. Once made a complete system, i discovered new things that make the system better. At this time, i tried Gentoo, just to try, but didn't like. I prefered making myself the system.
After 4 or 5 system "construction", morelees November 2005, a new version of LFS came up, so i began to make it. When finished LFS, and before starting BLFS, i realizaed, that i was tired of compiling.
So, i decided, that time of LFS was finished, as what i was looking for when i knew about it, was perfectly made (thanks LFS). In that moment, a knew exactly what i want:
- Binary, no more compilation!! :-)
- Good Package system
- Actual software, but only using oficial repos
- Minimal base system (one LFS). After that, i'll install only what i want
- minimal editing of configuration files to make it work
So, before installing distros, i started to read the manuals of every distribution: gentoo (has binary package), RH, Fedora, Suse, Ubuntu... but all of them had things that i didn't like. Until i found someone in the net talking about Arch. I read the user manual and thought: this isn't possible, is what i want, exactly!!
So, i installed the base system, rebooted, made a "pacman -S kde", copied my xorg.conf from LFS to Arch, and... perfect!!!. I only had need of editing 3 or 4 conf files to have my system as i want!!
And, here i follow :-)
