Solaris cluster event log
Someone please tell me there is a way to get readable data from the even log in /var/cluster/log. I'm not finding anything in my searches, so I really hope I'm just overlooking something simple. Thanks in advance for any help.
Hi,
there's a binary called showev4 but I do not remember from where I've downloaded it. :)
Sun Cluster 3.x series clusters records event logs as binary log files. Log files can not be read with standard cluster commands. showev4 is a binary to read these log files.
Usage :
./showev4 /var/cluster/logs/eventlog
Sample output :

Event Logs of VMs Migration in Failover Cluster of Hyper-V Hosts
Hello All,
We're running Failover Cluster of Hyper-V hosts of Windows Server 2012 R2. Using SCVMM 2012 R2 with UR5 for management.
If any host gets down unexpectedly (due to any reason power/bugcheck/hardware failure or what so ever), then the VMs on that host, of course, get migrated (either quick or live) to some other host within the cluster.
I want to have logs/events of this VMs migration. I want to know that which of the VMs were residing on that host at that time of failure. Of course, we can't have this info in the Cluster events is Failover Cluster Manager. I am unable to find this info
anywhere. I have searched in Event Viewer --> Administrative Roles --> Hyper-V. I have searched a lot in the SCVMM, but no success.
Please help me in finding the exact location of these logs/events. I would also like to know that if the VM was quick migrated or live migrated, and to which host the VM got migrated.
I'd be highly grateful.
Thanks in anticipation.
Regards,
Hasan Bin HasibThis post was cross-posted in the clustering forum. As noted in that forum, a failure of a host does not initiate a quick or live migration. Migration requires both the source and destination nodes be operational during the entire migration
process. Should a host fail, it is impossible for that host to participate in a migration. In the case of a host failure, the VM is restarted on another node of the cluster. You can still use the information provided by Elton for viewing
events in the event log. If you want to see the exact sequence of log entries, perform quick/live migrations in a lab and notices the changes in the event log. You can also fail a host and see the sequence of log entries.

Dear Technet,
Windows could not start the Cluster Service on Local computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 2.
My cluster suddenly went disappear. and tried to restart the cluster service. When trying to restart service this above mention error comes up.
even i tried to remove the cluster through power-shell still couldn't happen because of cluster service not running.
Help me please.. thank you.
Regards
ShamilHi,
Could you confirm which account when you start the cluster service? The Cluster service is a service that requires a domain user account.
The server cluster Setup program changes the local security policy for this account by granting a set of user rights to the account. Additionally, this account is made a member
of the local Administrators group.
If one or more of these user rights are missing, the Cluster service may stop immediately during startup or later, depending on when the Cluster service requires the particular
user right.
Hope this helps.

HasanYou have posted this same question in two different forums. The answer on where to look is posted in the other forum.
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7f0da2a8-debc-4dd8-9214-72ed46e3c76b/event-logs-of-vms-migration-in-failover-cluster-of-hyperv-hosts?forum=winserverhyperv
In the future, forum etiquette requests that you do not cross-post.
Again, when a host fails, there is no migration, quick or live, to another node of the cluster. There is a restart. When a host fails, the VMs on that host also fail. The cluster detects the failure and the resources (VMs) that had
been running on the failed node are restarted on another node. You will see different events entered into the event log for a resource start than for a quick/live migration.
The easiest way to see this is to do it. Open up the event viewer on a host to which you plan to migrate a VM. Perform a quick/live migration. Refresh the event viewer and note the events that were logged.

Event Log Replication on Cluster Server (MS Server 2003)
Please help me about the EnableEventLogReplication on SERVER 2003. I just saw the recommended on MS support about it.
"If the EnableEventLogReplication registry entry is set to 1, the cluster node replicates events in the event log to all other nodes in the cluster. Tools that monitor multiple
servers, report a single event multiple times, one time from each node. "
I have got the problem about event logs replicates and hard to summary event logs on all nodes. If I want to disable this function I would like to know the effect about this one. it will not replicates events and will not get any worse cases on the server
that my customer using? Could you please advise? As you mentioned, if you disable EnableEventLogReplication, Event Log Replication will be disable for one or more node in the cluster or the entire cluster. One or more cluster node is down or has experienced a failure, and preventing Event Log Replication
from taking place.
Note: if you disable the replication at a specific node, replication of events from that node to other nodes is disabled. Other nodes that have the EnableEventLogReplication property turned on still replicate to that node. This only replicates the System,
Application and Security event logs.

Do anyone have any idea what going on and how can I fix it ?Hi,
solaris has several issues with DISM, e.g.:
Solaris 10 and Solaris 11 Shared Memory Locking May Fail (Doc ID 1590151.1)
Sounds like Solaris Cluster has a similar bug. A "workaround" is to reboot the (cluster) zone, that "fixes" the mlock error. This bug was introduced with updates in september, atleast to our environment (Solaris 11.1). Prior i did not have the issue and now i have to restart the entire zone, whenever i stop crs.
With 11.2.0.3 the root.sh script can be rerun without prior cleaning up, so you should be able to continue installation at that point after the reboot. After the root.sh completes some configuration assistants need to be run, to complete the installation. You need to execute this manually as you wipe your oui session

Microsoft sql server extended event log file
Dears
Sorry for my below questions if it is very beginner level.
In my implementation I have cluster SQL 2012 on Windows 2012; I am using MountPoints since I have many Clustered Disks.
My MountPoint Size is only 3 GB; My Extended event log are growing fast and it is storing in the MountPoint Drive directly (Path: F:\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log).
What is the best practice to work with it? (is it to keep all Extended events? or recirculate? or to shrink? or to store in DB?)
Is there any relation between SQL truncate and limiting the size of Extended event logs?
How can I recirculate this Extended Events?
How can I change the default path?
How can I stop it?
and in case I stop it, does this means to stop storing SQL event in Windows event Viewer?
Thank youAfter a lot of checking, I have found below:
My Case:
I am having SQL Failover Cluster Instances "FCI" and I am using Mount-Points to store my Instances.
I am having 2 Passive Copies for each FCI.
In my configuration I choose to store the Root Instance which include the logs on Mount-Point.
My Mount Point is 2 GB Only, which became full after few days of deployment.
Light Technical Information:
The Extended Event Logs files are generated Coz I have FCI, in single SQL Installation you will not find this files.
The File Maximum size will be 100 MB.
The Files start circulating after it become 10 Full Files.
If you have the FCI installed as 1 Active 2 Passive, and you are doing failover between the nodes, then you will expect to see around 14 - 30 copy of this file.
Based on above information you will need to have around 100 MB * 10 Files Per Instance copy * 3 Since in my case I have 1 Active and 2 passive instances which will = 3000 MB
So in my case My Mount-Point was 2 GB, which become full coz of this SQLDIAG Logs.
Solution:
I extended my mount point by 3 GB coz I am storing this logs on it.
In case you will need to change SQLDIAG Extended Logs Size to 50 MB for example and place to F:\Logs, then you will need below commands:
ALTER SERVER CONFIGURATION SET DIAGNOSTICS LOG OFF;
ALTER SERVER CONFIGURATION
SET DIAGNOSTICS LOG MAX_SIZE = 50 MB;
ALTER SERVER CONFIGURATION
SET DIAGNOSTICS LOG PATH = 'F:\logs';
ALTER SERVER CONFIGURATION SET DIAGNOSTICS LOG ON;
After that you will need to restart the FCI from SQL Server Configuration Manager or Failover Cluster Manager.
I wish you will find this information helpful if it is your case.

Cluster Events Query Incomplete
I have a six-node 2012 R2 Failover Cluster running Hyper-V. When I go to Cluster Events, it says on the title: "Cluster Events (0 events, query incomplete)". When I query one node at a time, only node 2 returns results, and every other
node says "query incomplete". I can read all the event logs separately through remote MMC. What does this mean, "Cluster Events (query incomplete)", and how do I get all the nodes to report in?Hi rpseekell,

How to display system security events logs in Cisco router 4980
Hi,
in order to perform acceptance tests following the installation of a Cisco 4980 router cluster, I need to verify that any system security events are logged and I can diplay them on the CLI output (for example with the #show logging command).
By system security events logs, I mean for example bad authentification on the switch, creation/deletion/modification of a user accoount, telnet connexion attempt while this protocol is not allowed, etc...
With the #show logging command, I have security events related to access-list, or configuration changes (even if these ones are not really verbose on waht have been changed), but no "system" security events.
Here is my logging initial logging configuration on these routers:
logging rate-limit 1 except errors
logging console critical
logging monitor critical
But I also tried like this:
logging rate-limit 1 except errors
logging console informational
logging monitor critical
logging history informational
logging facility auth
But exactly the same result...
Is this feature exist or not ?
If yes, how to configure it ?
Thanks.

Timefinder mirror BCV issues after installing Solaris Cluster 3.2
I just installed Solaris Cluster 3.2, and since then, my BVC's will no longer mount. I have a case open with EMC already, just thought I check and see if anyone here has ever ran into the same issues and found a fix. The BCV job runs just fine until it comes to the time to mount it under an alternate location. This fails which I initially assumed was because SC needs the diskgroup to be registered. However, I have BCV's running on other servers that use SC3.2 as well, and they work just fine. If anyone has any past experience with this, please let me know how you overcame the problem.
TIA...Did a rebuild with current patches, did not run JASS or an in-house hardening script on the nodes and I get the same result.
I think I might have a bug issue with the bge driver or something.
On the first node before running scinstall all nic lights are lit.
After that first node reboots from scinstall the nic lights stay lit until right before the CMM messages begin appearing on the console. At that point the interconnect lights go out and stay out physically.
No errors were detected with sccheck or in the install logs for the cluster.
I tried a rebuild of the cluster nodes using a switch (ProCurve 2626) for the interconnects rather than an ethernet cable or cross-over cable.
I have a hme interface in my V210 and V240 and I am going to use that for one of the interconnects to see if it matters.
Basically at this point it is definitely not something physical (bad cable, bad switch port, etc) but something in the cluster configuration from scinstall that is not digging the interconnects and keeping the cluster nodes from conversing.
Since the cluster isn't working anyway I can do a clintr enable node:port,switch@port and see that the ports and switch ports show as enabled by clintr status does not show an interconnect active and the physical ports are not lit.
I do see references to bgeX/0 unregistered in /var/adm/messages but I haven't found information as to what this means or what to do about it exactly yet.

Auditing cluster events - can we see who paused a node?
Hello
We have a 2 node cluster with an active passive configuration - running server 2008 r2 / SQL 2008
We had an issue today where one of the nodes was paused; and the active node had an issue with the cluster services, which ended up taking the resources offline (as you would expect)
I fixed the issue via resuming the paused node; failing over the resources and restarting the cluster services - and bringing the resources back online
Im trying to find out the 'why' behind the inactive node being left paused, as such i want to know if there are any events logged when a node is paused (i.e. a security event)
I did a test scenario on the server, I paused the node but nothing is logged in any of the usual event places. Does the inactive node have to be left paused for a certian period of time before the cluster events / cluster operations log start logging things?
Any help would be appreciatedHello,
After checking the cluster related logs and systme/application logs, it appears that there're no logs recorded when pausing a cluster node.
And generally, pausing a node is usually done when applying software updates to the node, where the recommended sequence is to move all services and applications off of the node, pause the node, then apply software updates to the node.
You may refer to the following link for more information.

Thanks - I was afraid of that
I know that pausing a node is only usually done when updating / patching etc, but windows updates fore this cluster are not done whatsoever - which put me down this path to begin with

With fax accessory for HP LaserJet MFP Analog 500 = CE737A
Firmware Datecode = 20120623
Firmware Revision = 2200643_228339
The inital issue was receiving faxes, so I updated the firmware to the above listed. In the event log it shows since the firmware was updated on Nov 7th the following:
The device keeps prompting to restart the printer.... I haven't been able to screen capture the message off the device yet... on the Information tab through the EWS it's shown: "An unexpected error occurred. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again." What is that suppose to mean?
Faxing has stopped working completely....
Can you tell me if this means the firmware is corrupt and show be re-loaded?
Or suggest what my next steps would be?
Anything is helpful...Thanks HP Seeker.Hello, you can also try a partial clean and reload the latest firmware, see if that will work.

Unable to stop the event logs on access point console
Hi team,
I have an AIR-LAP1131AG-E-K9 access point having ios c1130-k9w8-mx.124-21a.JHB1.
When I am trying to take the console of it there are many logs generated like LWAPP ...Go join the controller, Discover controller etc. and the ap is unable to register to the controller(2112 with ios version 6.0.199.4). I'm trying to enter the command but there are many event msg generated....How do i stop this event log. I tried entering the command no debug all. but still there are many logs...
I want to enter the the following commands
#lwapp ap ip address <ip addr>.
#lwapp a pip default-gateway <gateway ip addr>
#lwapp ap controller ip addr <controller ip>
#wr me
Revert me back on urgent basis
Thanks in advance..Thanks Rashika,
Now the access point got registered to the controller..This happened becuse of country Code..
I have changed the country code to UK, Belgium it started working fine.
Initially when it was IN the access point was not getting register..
But now the problem which arised is that the user is unable to get authenticated to the radius server.
Radius server is reachable and we have done every changes required for radius server authentication.
Users are getting rejected.
Customer is saying that the radius server is in IN domain and the WLC/access point is in UK,BE and hence the users are unable to connect..
Is it so??
Rply
Thanks in advance...
