Solution Manager DR Landscape

Hi,
For DR purposes, we want to implement a backup server for Solution Manager.
Could someone show me how to go about with it.  A diagram of the landscape would be helpful also.
We do not want the bakcup server to be idle while the main server is running. An optional requirement for this project is (If possible), we want the backup server to handle or share some services that the main server offer to the satellite severs.
thanks,
Roel

Hello,
Please create a communication user in both Solman system as well as satellite system with trusted autorizatrion.
For trusted autorization create a role with object S_RFC & S_RFCACL
While generating RFC please select the user which you have created in the above step
Hope this helps you if not let me know the exact error

  • Solution manager system Landscape setup problems

    Dear Expert,
I tried to add new system DEV into solution manager landscape with the Assistant .
But during the step Create RFC connections, it occured some errors below.
RC=2: The user has no authorization in the target system (for the object S_RFCACL), or logged on with one of the protected users 'DDIC' or 'SAP*'.
I created a account call 'TIM' at target system, and also solution manager has the same user account as well.
does any other authorizqtion need to be assign to TIM.??
    please help~

  • Landscape of Solution Manager

    Hi, All:
My question is about the Solution Manager's Landscape. Normally, do we need 3-tier (DEV-QAS-PRD) landscape for Solution Manager implementation or only 1 Solution Manager to be installed is ok?
Any info will be highly appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Best Regards,
    David

    Hi David,
Thank you for the reward points.
Regarding the landscape - Have not come across any document of that sort. People suggest based on experience.
Sizing for solution manager - You can get the document from the below link in service market place.

  • In Solution Manager, where can I find the SRM 7.0 Configuration Guide?

Please give me directions on how to download the SRM 7.0 configuration guide within Solution Manager, these documents are not available on the service marketplace.  We have sol manager 4 I believe, it's not sol manger 7.0.
Also, if you could send me the guide at matt.joseph at thq.com that would save me from losing more time trying to figure out Solution Manger
    Thanks for your help.
    Matt

    Matt,
    1. Log on to your SAP Solution Manager system.
    2. To be able to access configuration documentation, create a project as follows:
    1. Create your project with transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN for project administration.
    2. Connect your SAP system to SAP Solution Manager with transaction SMSY for the SAP Solution Manager system landscape.
    3. Create a project structure and add the required scenarios for your SAP system to your project structure with the Business Blueprint transaction SOLAR01,
    4. Add your SAP system configuration structures to your project structure with the configuration transaction SOLAR02.
    3. Go to the project structure folder <project name> using transaction SOLAR02.
    4. Access configuration documentation for SAP NetWeaver usage types at Configuration StructureSAP NetWeaver 7.0.
    5. Access configuration documentation for all areas of SAP SRM at Configuration StructureSAP SRM <release>.

  • Prblem Service Desk configuration in Solution Manager 4.0

    Hi All,
Here I have done the configuration of Service Desk in Solution Manager 4.0 by using the document which I have for release 3.2. However I have face some problem in Step “Initially create and Assign the Satellite Systems as iBase C” and “Manually create and Assign the Satellite Systems as iBase Co” .So I exclude above mention step. But still I am able to create the support message from Satellite Systems.
So can please let me know whether it will work fine in upcoming time or Do I need to test my Service Desk configuration for same.
Moreover please let me know how to test Service Desk configuration for real time environment.
Following are the step and problem which I face while doing the Service desk configuration.
<b>STEP 1 #Initially Create and Assign the Satellite Systems as iBase C</b>
To be able to use the Service Desk and Change Request scenarios in SAP Solution Manager, you need to define the Installed Base (iBase). An iBase component has to be created for each satellite system from which Service Desk messages will be sent to the SAP Solution Manager system.
The iBase components for the iBase structure SOL_MAN_DATA_REP (installation 1) can be created and assigned either automatically or manually. Note that these components and the assignments can only be created once automatically for every solution.  To refresh your existing iBase data execute IMG activity Manually Create and Assign the Satellite Systems as iBase Components.
    Requirements:-
You have defined your system landscape in the Solution Manager System Landscapes(transaction SMSY).
    Activities:-
    1. In transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER,  open a solution.
    2. Choose Operations -> Service Desk.
    3. Choose Edit -> Initial Data Transfer for iBase.
The data is copied automatically. The iBase systems for the solution are automatically assigned to SOL_MAN_DATA_REP (installation "1"). An iBase component is created for each system installation number (which can be displayed by choosing System  ->  Status).
For each solution repeat these steps.
<b>Problem in STEP1 :-</b> I am not able to check the System &#61664; Status.
<b>STEP 2 #Manually Create and Assign the Satellite Systems as iBase Co</b>
In this IMG activity, you define the Installed Base (iBase) manually, i.e. for refreshing existing iBases after solutions have been changed.
An iBase component has to be created for each satellite system from which Service Desk messages will be sent to the SAP Solution Manager system.
    Activities:-
    1. In transaction Change Installed Base (IB52), use the input help (F4) to find the Installed Base with external ID SOL_MAN_DATA_REP.
    2. Continue as follows:
    •     If SOL_MAN_DATA_REP does not exist:
    a) Call transaction Create Installed Base (IB51).
    b) Choose iBase Category 01 (Installed Base).
    c) Choose Enter.
    d) Specify the iBase header data in the iBase section.
    e) Specify the external ID SOL_MAN_DATA_REP and enter a short description.
    •     If SOL_MAN_DATA_REP exists:
    a) Choose iBase No. 1 (SOL_MAN_DATA_REP).
    b) Choose the SAP WEB AS component.
    3. To assign the systems as iBase components, go to the Text item tab.
Three components are included in the standard package.
    4. Add all the satellite systems as text items to the table:
o     Column Short text: Description of the system
o     Column Identification: System ID, space, installation number
    5. Save.
After changes have been made to a solution, repeat these steps to update system landscape data for iBase.
    Note:-
Every system is only listed once in the iBases. That means a system is not listed in an iBase if it has been listed in another iBase before.
<b>Problem in STEP2:-</b> Here I am not able to find Text item tab as per point 3 .
    <b>STEP 3 # Assign Business Partners to iBase Components</b>
You need to assign business partners to the new iBase components.
    Activities:-
    1. In transaction Change iBase (IB52), choose Goto -> Partner
    2. Assign business partners with the following functions to the new iBase component systems:
    o     Administrator
    o     Key User
    o     Sold-to Party
    3. Save.
    4. Repeat these steps for each iBase component.
<b>Problem in step3 :-</b> In IB52 t-code screen there no any menu path like goto &#61664; partner
    Thanks a lot,
    Harshal

    Hi Harshall,
You have to enter the value as 1 in Installed base field and then press enter.
You will be taken inside and then you will be able to see the Goto - Partner screen.
    Hope this will help.
    Please reward points suitably.
    Regards,
    Naresh.

  • Solution Manager and JDI

    Hi,
I'm not very familiar with solution manager but other than monitoring the WAS Java Runtime systems , upgrading them (support packs) and using the SLD are there any other connections with between the JDI and SLD ?
    Thanks

    Hi Marc,
the connection between JDI and Solution Manager. Since solution manager is supposed to be a central point to manage your business solution, I was wondering what kind of integration there is with the JDI.
We also need to position the SLD in our landscape. So far we were thinking of putting it with the JDI for JDI needs and having another one in solution manager for landscape definition.
We would then sync both with import and export ...
    Thanks.

    RFC Change Manager: SM_NQACLNT250_TMW
    Trusted system RFC: SM_NQACLNT250_TRUSTED
    RFC for solution Manager: SM_NQACLNT250_TRUSTED
My qestion is when I highlight entry and click on RFC pushbotton there is no such as I can change or Edit entry or I can't delete that Row ?
How can I do that please advised
    Thanks

    Hi there,
If I follow what you're saying, you want to delete one of your clients from your system in txn SMSY.  Per the SAP online help (see below), you need to switch to "manual" maintenance mode, as it is assumed that your system's data was populated automatically.  See the online help below and try what it suggests. Note: I'm on SOLMAN 4.0, SP15.  In SMSY there is no "Landscape Components ® Other Object" option.  It is actually the button just to the left of the pencil (Change) button whose text says "Other Object..".  Click that button, then click the System radio button, then put in your system's system name (ie Q01), then click the button on that pop-up that looks like an unlocked lock, then click Yes on the pop-up after that, then click on the greencheck button(s) until you're back in SMSY.  You may have to re-click on your "R/3 Server" link to get back to the client tab/screen.  Make sure you go back into Change mode and then your "delete" button will be available.
FYI - just below here is the online help for what I described above. Below that I've included comments of what I did when I did this myself.
    Manual Data Source Maintenance
    Use
You cannot edit all data manually in servers, databases and systems which were determined automatically. You can set the data source to manual maintenance, to be able to edit all data in this landscape element manually.
You should only set the data source to manual maintenance if the automatically captured description does not match the actual definiton of the landscape component. This can, for example, be the case if a system temporarily has an additional server, which is recognized by the automatic data capture, but should not be in the system description because it is only temporary.
    Prerequisite
You are in the Solution Manager System Landscape (SMSY).
    Procedure
           1.      Choose Landscape Components ® Other Object, or
           2.      Choose the landscape component from the possible entries help, or enter the name of the landscape component.
           3.      Choose the Set Data Source to Manual Input pushbutton.
           4.      Confirm the confirmation prompt.
    END of ONLINE HELP section
Below is the text from the pop-up msg after I clicked on the button (for my Q01 system) in the "Select Other Object" pop-up called "Set Data Source to Manual Input".  That button looks like a unlocked lock symbol.
    Switch object to manual maintenance
You switch an object to manual maintenance to be
able to edit the object description determined
    by the system, manually.
You should only do this if the automatically
determined description does not match the
definiton of the object. This can, for example,
be the case if a system temporarily has an
additional server which is recognized by the
automatic data capture, but should not be in the
system description, because it is only
    temporary.
Do not delete any required parts of the object
definition, and keep the definition of the
    object consistent.
    Switch Q01 to Manual Entry?

  • Solution landscape doesn't appear in Solution Manager Diagnostics

    Dear all,
I have configured 6 Solution Landscapes in transaction solution_manager. One for ECC5, one for PI 7.0, one for BI 7.0, one for Solution Manager 7.0, one for SRM 4.0 and finally one for NW 04 Portal.
When I go to my Solution Manager Diagnostics URL
https://solman.domain.com:50001/smd and I do Diagnostics Setup --> Managed Systems --> Setup Wizard,  I see there all the Solution Landscapes I have configured except for the NW 04 Portal one. Any ideas why I can not see this landscape? I am trying to think if I have missed any configuration but I can not think of something
    Many thanks

Sad to say, Vista isn't a supported system for Acrobat XI.

  • Expert Opionon on Landscape with Solution Manager 4

    Hi Experts:
I would like your expert opinion of the following.  (Points will be rewarded for all posts)
I have been tasked with setting up a DEMO environment involing Solution Manager 4 (SM4) , ECC 6.0 (ECC) and Business Intelligence 7 (BI7).
We would like this to be set up in such a way so that we could maximize Solution Manager and show its full functionality and capbility to our clients.
I was thinking of setting up the landscape in the following order.
3 Servers, OS: Windows, DB: MS SQL 2005
    1. Setup SAP Transport Host (This will reside in SM4)  This will be done as suggested in the SAP install guides.
    2. Install SM4 through a Central Install (ABAP only System)
    3. Post Install Activities (From SM4 Installation Guide)
    4. Share the following in ECC (
SAPTRANSHOST\SAPMNT\trans.) and share it with SM4. (So, essentially ECC shares the same transport directory)
(I am not sure about the above step...please confirm here)
    5. Install ECC through a Central Install (ABAP only System)
    6. Post Install Activities (From ECC Installation Guide)
    7. Share the following in BI7 (
SAPTRANSHOST\SAPMNT\trans.) and share it with SM4. (So, essentially BI7 shares the same transport directory as ECC and SM4)
(I am not sure about the above step...please confirm here)
    8. Install BI7 through a Central Install (ABAP only System)
    6. Post Install Activities (From BI7 Installation Guide)
I do realize that we also need EP7 for BI7, but that is being planned for release 2, the client is only interested BW lite at the moment.
Please feel free to critque the above and offer all alternatives.
    Thanks!
I owe my SAP Basis Career to this site as I have learned so much here.  Again, Points will be rewarded.

    Hello Imran,
I will answer in your text...
I have been tasked with setting up a DEMO environment involing Solution Manager 4 (SM4) , ECC 6.0 (ECC) and Business Intelligence 7 (BI7).
-->Exactly with escenario? Implementation scenario, monitoring, Change request management, service desk???
We would like this to be set up in such a way so that we could maximize Solution Manager and show its full functionality and capbility to our clients.
    -->OK! all scenarios
--->NOT possible, solman 4.0 has only one installation possibility, ABAP+J2EE
    3. Post Install Activities (From SM4 Installation Guide)
    4. Share the following in ECC (
SAPTRANSHOSTSAPMNT     rans.) and share it with SM4. (So, essentially ECC shares the same transport directory)
(I am not sure about the above step...please confirm here)
---> You don´t need to share the trans folder for any solman scenario
    5. Install ECC through a Central Install (ABAP only System)
    6. Post Install Activities (From ECC Installation Guide)
    -->ok
    7. Share the following in BI7 (
SAPTRANSHOSTSAPMNT     rans.) and share it with SM4. (So, essentially BI7 shares the same transport directory as ECC and SM4)
(I am not sure about the above step...please confirm here)
    ->Please don´t do it!!!
    8. Install BI7 through a Central Install (ABAP only System)
    6. Post Install Activities (From BI7 Installation Guide)
    ->Ok
I do realize that we also need EP7 for BI7, but that is being planned for release 2, the client is only interested BW lite at the moment.
-> With this two satellites, ECC and BI7 you work in Implementation scenario defining a Implementation project
->Also monitoring scenario and service desk will be cover
-->For change request scenario still you need to have at least two client in each satellite to be able to test the scenario
The transports managed by the solman must be done as always between roles
DEV->QUA->PRD of the same product release
    Hope this helps,

  • Solution Manager 7.1 Integration into SAP Landscape

    Hi All
    I have a few questions for all the SAP Solution Manager experts out there and for anyone that would like to take a stab at these questions. An organization would like to implement a 3 system landscape for the following SAP Applications; SAP ERP, SAP CRM, SAP SRM, SAP Portal, SAP XI, SAP BI (SAP BW and SAP BOBJ) as well as SAP Solution Manager. They want to use all the functionality that is available in Solution Manager. The questions that I pose is as follows;
         1. How many Solution Manager systems must one implement? A 3 system landscape or will a 2 system landscape suffice? Bearing in mind that    functionality such as CHARM will be implemented.
         2. Where will the productive SLD reside? How would this SLD connect to the Solution Manager Systems?
         3. To which Solution Manager System will all the diagnostic agents connect to?
Your expert input would gladly be appreciated and points awarded accordingly.
    Regards
    Deen

    Hi Deena,
I good approach would be to use a two system landscape.
Where - all sandbox and development systems are connected to develpoment solman.
and - all other systems, like quality, pre-prod, and prod are connected to production solman.
For CHARM, this is sufficient. Keep the hardware specs on the higher side of production solman.
You should use a separate SLD instance on your solution manager. WHY, incase you need to update the SP level, as SLD needs to be on the highest level, outage from SOLMAN or PI would be avoided.
You can also use, SLD of Solution manager, SYNC you dev sld with prod sld - uni directional sync - eg for stack generation.
SLD connect to your solution manager during solman_setup basic configuration and preparation of your landscape through LMDB.
    Check.

  • Solution manager landscape ?

Does Solution Manager landscape requires a typical 3 system landscape  or is it like
one SOLMAN server for all the landscape.

    Hello,
the technical prerequisites for Business Process Monitoring are described in SAP note 784752. Otherwise you find plenty of information in the Media Library under https://service.sap.com/bpm
If you need functional consultants or not is somewhat depending on the scope you want to use for BPMon. You will see that BPMon provides a broad scope of out-of-the-box functionality which can be application related but can also be only used by technical guys, e.g. IDOC, qRFC, tRFC, File or background job monitoring.
So there is no general answer to it. If you want to do full-blown BPMon then you will also need functional expertise.

  • Solar01/solar02 in solution manager: landscape structure definition- urgent

    Hi Forum Members,
I need to understand whether this is possible and if it is then how do i do it; any step by step manual from SAP is available. We have solman 7.1 and project with type 'implementation' created. When i go to solar01/02 i can maintain business scenario for ERP with relevant business processes however our landscape is like ERP, CRM, Enterprise Portal , DMS (Document Management System), TREX. I wish to adjust solar 01 business process structure in a way that it reflects the entire landscape. So, regarding i have few questions as below. Please let me know your views ASAP as i am runnig very short of time to asetup
    1. Is it possible to adust all these applications in the single business process structure e.g. one implementation project has business scenarios to ERP, CRM, EP and so on.
Business process structure we get is general with nodes after project creation in project administrtion is :
    A.Organizational unit
    B. Master Data
    C. Business scenarios.
    2. If not then do i have to create individual projects for each aplication like one for ERP and Other for CRM and so on.
For reference please see the below prototype i am expecting to achive by doing this (solar01) :
    <Implementation Project>
    A.Organizational unit
    B. Master Data
    C. Business scenarios
    <Business scenario for ERP>
    <Business scenario for CRM>
    <Business scenario for EP>
    <Business scenario for DMS>
    <Business scenario for TREX>
    D.Interfaces
    <Applicable interfaces>

    Rupesh Modi

    Hi Prakhar,
Thank you for the quick reponse and feel really nice to see you on this queries posted by me. I saw plenty of your threads earlier clarifying so many things on SCN.
I wish to admit that i am new to solution manager. So from the understanding prospective would you confirm that in core you are saying that technically it cant be realized (individual business scenarios for each applicaton type) as you have explained that one scenario runs on different systems. I mean to say SAP doesnt support this that is what you wish to say? This confirmtaion is needed to rule out the option of adjusting business process structure as i am expecting to be.
Also, I have to select business scenario in 'business scenario' and adjust it to run on different systems in under GRAPHIC tab in solar01 provided logical components are mentioned appropriately. I am refering to below link for designing the business process structure
    https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&_SHORTKEY=00200797470000089860&_OBJECT=011000358700000910652011E
