Solution Manager information for Java stack systems

Hi,
Could someone please help with the setup of Solution Manager, and how to connect to the backend of a Java stack system. For our ERP systems this is working via RFC, but I was hoping to get more information on the procedure for java. I can specify manually via SMSY, but I am sure there must be a setup that can pull the information for the system itself. Could anyone shed some light on this if possible please.
Regards,
Chris

Dear Chris,
ABAP Stacks use RFC as you know for inter system communications.
Java stack systems use Solution Manager Diagnostics.
You will need to run Solman_Setup > Managed System Configuration
First you should visit the link http://service.sap.com/diagnostics
There you will see a link to the media library, and there you will find complete documentation.
Hope you find this information Helpful.
Regards,
Paul

  • Solution Manager Key for Java AS

I'm new to SAP Netweaver so maybe this question has been answered before.
I need to install SAP Netweaver AS Java for development/QA purposes. I understand that I  need also Solution manager key for installation so I installed another Solution Manager System.
When I enter to Solution Manager http://<server>:50000 I get "System Landscape Directory is not accessible. Only local system can be administered". What does it mean? I remember I chose to create local SLD.
I saw also in couple of threads the following:
Just go to transaction SMSY transaction of solman and locate the system for which you need to generate Solman Key and just right clilck on that system...You will find the option of Generating Solution Manager Key....
I don't have such an option when I enter to Solution Manager.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

  • EP 7 systems in Solution Manager 7 for EWA activation

    Dear Expert,
    Greetings from Partha.
I need to include our EP 7 systems in Solution Manager 7 for EWA activation. Current lanscape scenario
    Solution Manger     7.00   Installed
    EP                          7.00   Installed
No central SLD configured and all the system have local SLD.
    1. As per the installtion guide & SAP notes we need to install
a> SM Diagnostics Agent & Wilo Introscope in Solution Manager (manging system).
b> Diagnostics Agent in every manged system(s).
For managing system we can download Diagnostics Agent installation DVDs from SAP Service Marketplace
at: http://service.sap.com/swdc --> Download --> SAP Support Packages --> Entry by Application Group
--> SAP Technology Components --> SAP SOLUTION MANAGER --> SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.0
--> Entry by Component --> Agents for Managed systems --> DIAGNOSTICS AGENT 7.11
    --> <choose operating system of managed>
Our Solution Manager 7 is already installed and @SPS 17. My question is
    1. Can we use the same file for SMD installtion in Solution Manger or we need to download it from some other area ?
If it is different then kindly let me know what are the DVDs to be downloaded and from where?
    2. In our Managed System SMD installtion we have decided for
--> Installation Strategy as Direct Solution Manager Registration
But what strategy we should take for SMD installation on Sol Man 7 that is
Local SLD (wrt Sol Man) Registration or Direct Solution Manager Registration
    3. What is the need for the SAP Host Agent Installattion ? Is it mandatory ?
    Help will be appreciated.

Check the pdf attached in note 1234387 - Inst. 7.1 EhP1 - Diagnostics Agent installation
If you have SP17, you must follow note 1357812 and install Diagnostics Agent 7.01 SR1

It doesn't matter what strategy you'll decide. You could decide Direct Solution Manager registration
    3. What is the need for the SAP Host Agent Installattion ? Is it mandatory ?
As you have solution Manager SP17, you can't install Saphostagent 7.11 and for this reason you can't use SAphostagent.
    Agent 7.01 => No Saphostagent
Agent 7.11 => Must install saphostagent
Agent 7.20 => Already have SAPhostagent installed

  • Multiple Solution Manager Connectivity to 1 Satellite system

    HI..
I have a requirement. There is already an existing landscape with solution manager ECC, BI etc. The solution manager is configured for EWA, Maintenance optimizer etc. I now have to install a new solution manager and connect it to the same set of satellite systems so that I receive the EWA, configure MOPZ again. Will this create any kind of a problem and technically how can we do it? I have two ideas for this scenario
    1. Connect the new solution manager to the same satellite systems and do configuration as normal. Got this idea from the below link but not sure how it will work.
Re: send EWA report to more than one solution manager
    2. Is it possible to push data from the existing solution manager to the new solution manager?
Would highly appreciate technical suggestions. Thx in advance for your help.

    Hello,
You need the SMD Agent in order to have ABAP data going to the Solution Manager. Some RFCs are established directly from Managed System to the Solution Manager to extract E2E Change Analysis, Exception Analysis. The Workload Analysis and Host Information (SAPOSCOL) is extracted from WIly EM
Having that said, you can imagine that you cannot have only RFCs and you cannot have only data extracted from WIly EM.
I suggest you to take a look at the FWK Administration in the solman_workcenter, choose the Managed System tab, and start looking into the details of each extractor. Some have an RFC destionation, others have SOLMANDIAG. The SOLMANDIAG are coming from the Solution Manager Java stack, which is responsible to poll the Wily EM.
The reason you need two SMD Agents is because the SMD Agent connects to the ABAP stack, retrieves data, and then connects to the Wily Enterprise Manager. The Solution Manager polls data from the Wily EM and persists it in the BW.
The SMD Agent doesn't support connecting to two Wily EMs at the same time.
So it is required to have TWO SMD agents polling data from the ABAP stack, at the same time, one of them reporting to one Wily EM, and the other reporting to the other Wily EM.
Each solution manager has it's own Wily EM, and it will pull the ABAP data from the Wily EM.
It is not possible to make the two Solution Manager's connect to one Wily EM, since the setup framework needs to see a SMD Agent available to run the setup wizard and to create the destinations. So each Solution Manager needs a SMD Agent running in the physical host.
I hope it is clear for you.
    Best regards,
    Guilherme

  • Is Solution Manager required for ECC 6.0 upgrade?

We will upgrade our system from 4.7 to ECC 6.0.  Is Solution Manager a required tool in ECC 6.0?  My understanding is Solution Manager has to be run on a different server, ie.  we will have to buy a new server.   We have a small SAP implementation with only FI & CO modules, so we are trying to cut our costs if we could.  Can anybody share their experience?  Thanks for any input.

In an Upgrade , Solution Manager is required for Upgrade Keys and downloading the support packs . Now a days to download the support packs you have to approve it in Solution Manager otherwise it won't show up in your download basket.
May be SAP can provide you the keys & approve the SPs ( they used to do that before ) , in that case it isn't required.
You can also manage your upgrade project in Solman . Sooner or later you need to install solution manager. it's a nice system. Many good features like central monitoring, early watch alert etc etc ...
    Thanks

  • Java stack system copy

    Dear Experts,
I have recently done few ABAP+java stack system copies using R3load method. Basically i have done Export ABAP and JAVA stack and Imported the same to QAS system using sapinst with SMIGR_CREATE_DDLs kept along with Import.
But i am really not having in depth idea over it even after reading system-copy guides for Neweaver SR1.
Because this procedure is taking a lot of time as compared to our old technique for only ABAP stack which was normal backup and restore of database and then change of SID with controlfile.
But while reading TADM10  i found backing up and restoring AS java ..
and i have querry whether is there any way we can do simple database backup and restore for ABAP stack ... and then just Export JAVA stack from source and Import the same to target QAS machine which will save time for us.
Or anything like just backup SDM , instance dir,bootstarp.properties,instance.properties and then Import through Configtool in Target machine.
Please let me know the procedure in depth as we are really facing hard time because of downtime required for R3load Export-import method.
    Best Regards,
    AjitR

I guess you have Exported java and imported JAVA to one system and the  Exported ABAP and Imported to another system.
I´ve exported Java, imported it on system A, I´ve copied the complete database using backup/restore onto system B and deleted the Java schema.
I suppose there is no way for parallel Export Import for dual ABAP + JAVA at one strock.
    I´m afraid - no - I just checked...
So the way out could during Export and Import there is something called as Number of work processes for Export and may be for Import. With increase or change in default ones will i get more Time saved during Export and Import as compared to default one.
    Yes - definitely.
    You can also split tables.
I usually use 2 R3load per CPU, max. table sizes in one package 250 MB, separate the biggest 250 tables. This enables me to export a 1.8 TB system in about 7 hours (which is still a VERY long time) with a total of about 400 single packages.
About the degree of parallelism: Make sure you underlying I/O system can deliver enough. If you have a system with many CPUs (8+) and your I/O system is not able to handle that load, speed will go down and probably this will affect normal work.
The fastest way I found out is to use a socket connection over a gigabit ethernet instead of storing onto a network drive, however, in that case the target system need to be fast enough to import all the data as fast as the export system delivers (same amount of R3load processes). During import you can use "-loadprocedure fast" as additional option (bulk import). This will speed up significantly. However, make sure you have the latest patches installed on the target system if you use the default ASSM tablespaces, corruptions may occur otherwise (see note 1045847 - ORACLE DIRECT PATH LOAD SUPPORT IN R3LOAD)
Long story short: If you have the possibility and hardware resources to separate ABAP from Java it´s the best you can do from an administrative point of view, this will make you refrain from doing copies via R3load.

  • SAP Solution Manager Adapter for SAP Quality Center by HP (ST-QCA)

    Hello Folks,
I am configuring Solution Manager, and the current activity asks to download to add-ons that I can't find in the Marketplace - they are required to activate Solution Manager Enhancements:
SAP Solution Manager Adapter for SAP Quality Center by HP (software component: ST-QCA)
SAP Support Enablement package (software component: ST-SEP)
Does anyone know where to get those components?
    Thanks a lot,
    Marco

    Hi Ravindra babu/ Murali:
I have one very quick doubt and would be really glad if you can help clarify.
As per documentation from SAP and also IMG screens etc. it seems like 'a project' in SolMan will hand-shake with 'a project' in QC.
Can I therefore assume that if there is only one instance of SolMan (productive) and one QC server alone (again, productive), any number of trials I carry out between SolMan project and QC project will not spill over into other projects in these two systems and thus have no impact whatsoever at server level.
The reason for my asking this - in my project, Testing has started using QC in a standalone mode already. We have just one server. If I have to carry out any tests/ demo between SolMan and QC, it shouldn't impact other 'standalone' projects being done in QC.

    Srini

  • Solution Manager prepared for the Remote Service Delivery?

In preparation of GoingLive Session, we received a mail with some questions. Among them the following:
Is your Solution Manager prepared for the Remote Service Delivery? Yes/No
Is the solution transferred to SAP?: Yes/No
What does the first question mean? what should be done to prepare the Solman for session delivery?
How do I check if the solution is transferred to SAP?
    Thanks a lot,
        Dino

    Hello Dino,
The SAP Solution Manager is a platform for the delivery of services for the following areas:
    ●     Risk minimization
    ●     Optimization of SAP solutions
    ●     Knowledge transfer
Services in the SAP Solution Manager are services which help you to monitor and optimize the performance and availibility of your system landscapes and minimize your system operation risks.
You can have the support services performed by SAP or perform them yourself:
    ●     Remote Services
SAP experts deliver this service type via a remote connection (SAP Safeguarding Services, e.g. SAP GoingLive Check).
For checking whether solution manager is prepared for remote service delivery u need to check the following.
    Prerequisites
    You have:
    ●     created a solution.
    ●     set-up a connection to the SAP Service Marketplace (Explorer).
    Procedure
           1.      Choose the transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER.
           2.      Choose Delivery of SAP Services ® Service Plan, in Operations.
           3.      Choose Order Service from SAP.
You go to the Service Catalog.
           4.      Choose the link to the service.
The system goes to the catalog entry of the service, in the SAP Service Marketplace.
           5.      Follow the procedure described in the SAP Service Marketplace.
    =============================================
Solution transfered to SAP means that the u have done the configuration, testing and validation of the SAP system components and then transfered this to the satellite systems connected to Solman. Please note that solman is the central point of access for supporting implementation activities and the satellite systems are SAP systems comnected to solman in the landscape.
Hope this helps. Please assign points and let me know if u need anything specific.
    Rgds
