[SOLVED] Can't build pulseaudio-git from AUR
Can't build complains about:

On the git-shortlog it seems like he just prepped test7 so I imagine it is building for others... googling brought up something about libtool 1.5 vs 2.2 mismatch, but they were directed at 0.9.14 or older PA versions. Any suggestions are welcomed.

I just tried to compile pulseaudio 0.9.14 from the pulseaudio website on arch x86_64.
In my /etc/makepkg.conf I have CHOST="x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu" So i don't think its the problem
All of this is in reponse to the error message when running sudo /etc/rc.d/pulseaudio start
/usr/bin/pulseaudio: error while loading shared libraries: libcap.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Also note that
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … s=0&SeB=nd
says that pulseaudio needs a rebuild because of a new version of libtool
I get the following error running make for pulseaudio:
/home/savagenator/SVN/pulseaudio-0.9.14/src/daemon/dumpmodules.c:139: undefined reference to `lt__PROGRAM__LTX_preloaded_symbols'

Can't build empathy-git from the AUR
I'm using empathy-devel (2.7.5) is quite stable~ and it supports video chat and audio chat for gtalk, which works even better than pidgin 2.6.1(with video and audio enabled when compiling).
Using empathy-devel (2.7.5) can't hear the voice from the other side. But the person on the other side can hear me~ (The other side was using google chrome with gtalk plugin for gmail under windows system.)
this happen to my friend who is a archlinux user too.
I don't know if this is a bug or we are missing something to recieve the sound from the other side.
So, I tried to install empathy-git and empathy-devel( I edited the PKGBUILD to the newest version 2.27.91.1), see if it works better~
Unfortunately, I failed to compile both version of empathy above.
I got the same error when compiling~~(not the dependecy check in the PKGBUILD)
configure: error: gnome-doc-utils >= 0.17.3 not found
I've already installed gnome-common-svn gnome-doc-utils-svn.
1. Now i have no idea how to get the latest empathy installed on my system.
2. And if being unable to hear the other's voice is not a bug of empathy (2.7.5), what can I do to make it works properly.
Please give me a hand~
Thank you so much!you have to update gnome-doc-utils using abs to that version. i believe that they are preparing for gnome 2.28 release. also you need to use telepathy-mission-control-5 from aur.
like a side note. gnome-doc-utils-svn is not even used anymore. they migrated to git so in svn nobody commited anything.

[SOLVED] makepkg fails when building libdivecomputer-git from AUR.
I'm not sure where to start debugging this failure as I'm a newb when it comes to compiling packages.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi
Can someone help me building emerald-git from AUR. I know it is flagged as "out of date" but this should not be problem building it. I know the process of makepkg but i just can't build this PKGBUILD. https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=11539

Aborting...I think, this is due to Emerald being discontinued. The packages version is of 2007, the last commit in the git repo is of mid 2010 with three code commits since the beginning of 2009 (everything else are just version bumps and translation updates): http://gitweb.compiz.org/?p=fusion/deco … ;a=summary So I'm not really surprised that something is broken now...

[SOLVED] Building VCS packages from AUR fails
Hello,
Whenever I try to build a git or svn package from AUR, build fails with the error in a clean chroot enviroment:
==> ERROR: Unknown download protocol: svn
Aborting...
When the build starts, makepkg actually downloads source files properly. Any clues?
Last edited by yuan_modu (2015-04-02 16:31:03)Trilby wrote:How many packages has this happened with? Can you give an example of one that produces this error? If the download proceeds when the build starts, it sounds like the PKGBUILD is outdated and is manually grabbing the source in the build function (in pacman<4.0 style).
I was building https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/uefi-shell-svn: a popular and up-to-date PKGBUILD.
Indeed I didn't merge the conf files of clean chroot. There was a makepkg.conf.pacnew, the lacking part in my old makepkg.conf was:
VCSCLIENTS=('bzr::bzr'
'git::git'
'hg::mercurial'
'svn::subversion')
and some small changes. Everything works fine now. Was my bad. Sorry for incovenience and thanks for your help.

[SOLVED]_How can I execute namebench installed from AUR?
I have managed to install my first package from AUR, namebench. When i type in terminal
namebench
I get command not found.
So how can I execute namebench?
Thanks
Last edited by zabrielza (2015-03-09 21:26:36)nullified wrote:What did you do to install it? I.e. are you sure you installed it correctly?
I followed instructions from this link.
$ cd ~***/Downloads/_Applications_From_AUR
$ tar -xvf namebench.tar.gz
After that
$ cd namebench
$ nano PKGBUILD
When I read PKGBUILD there were dendencies tha I installed correctly. python2-graphy was installed from AUR too.
$ makepkg -s
# pacman -U namebench-1.3.1-7-any.pkg.tar.xz
I had no errors at all.
EDIT: How can I figure out whether I installed it correctly or not?

Upgrading vicious-git from aur broke my awesome config
I just ran an upgrade and upgraded the vicious-git package alongside the new kernel release.
Upon reboot all my custom configuration of awesome is not loaded anymore. The files are still in place and seem in tact. Is there an additional step to preform after the upgrade in order to redeem my computer usability?
I suddenly saw that vicious had a version on community. I installed that one instead and now it works fine.
Last edited by Asaf K. (2012-06-25 06:59:08)Dieter@be wrote:Allright, glad you like it. About vicious-git not properly getting installed, maybe it is not included in the repository you specified?
vicious-git isn't in any repository, I download it from AUR. It gets properly downloaded and uncompressed, but the chroot doesn't, fails with a 'cannot execute cd : no such file or directory' Once i've got some spare time this afternoon (still early in the morning over here ) I'll try to find out why
By the way, is there any functionality in AIF to execute a worker in a chroot on the target system ? I looked quickly through the list of workers in the automatic procedures and didn't see anything specific. Although I can configure most stuff from the configure_system worker, there are a few things where you really need to be running inside the system to configure. For example : you need to have the mysql daemon started if you want to change the password, and you need to be chrooted if you want to have all the dependencies when building a PKGBUILD If not, I was thinking of generating a bash script that would contain all my chrooted stuff, so I would only need to execute chroot once in the worker. -
[Solved] Problem installing et-sdl-sound from AUR
Hey All,
Ok now! I know that there are several threads on this forum related to this issue, but the question I have is slightly different and may even sound silly, but I just cannot figure it out.
I tried installing Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory from AUR. The sound didn't work out-of-the-box. Just as expected because the comments against the package on AUR had warned me so: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=2063
When I researched a little I found out that, to make sound work, I had to install et-sdl-sound package: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=9777
So I went ahead and did this:
1. download the tarball from AUR
2. tar -zxvf et-sdl-sound.tar.gz
3. cd et-sdl-sound
4. makepkg -s
Now when I do the "makepkg -s" it fails with the error: "ERROR: A failure occured in build()"
Going by the comments on the package in AUR, adding a line #include <unistd.h> to one of the .cpp file supposedly should fix this error. I did this.
But when I try to run the command makepkg -s it overwrites the file I just modified. Can someone please tell me how do I overcome this? How do I make makepkg use the .cpp file with the modification that I made?
Thank you,
Nachiket
Last edited by Nachiket (2012-06-12 06:04:37)Perhaps makepkg's man page will have an option to not extract source files; use whatever source already exists in the src/ directory

[SOLVED] Can't build lib32-libwbclient
Hello.
I need lib32-libwbclient for some wine game to work, but it depends on libwbclient. Current libwbclient version is 3.6.11.1 while lib32-libwbclient version in AUR is 3.6.10.1. [Solved] how to patch source file from AUR for gcc46 ?
In a topic from yesterday, I was seeking help to get AUR package 'insight' installed, but so far no luck, since there seems to be a bug in the source that won't work with the gcc47 compiler. I'm posting this new topic, since the subject has changed a bit - I'm now trying to compile gcc46 because another user had success with that version in compiling the 'insight' package, and I need to patch the gcc46 source to get it to compile.
I'm looking for help to fix the problem myself, or if anyone wants to create a new PKGBUILD to handle the problem, that would be nice too
Originally, I thought I would try to install gcc42 from AUR and use that to run makepkg on the 'insight' app, since one user had success with this version of gcc. Both gcc42 and gcc46 give me the same errors with an 'unwind' file, and I couldn't get either to compile (errors about unwind.h or linux-unwind.h).
I found a post with a link to a patch (for gcc46), but I have no idea where to apply or how to apply this patch. I think I'm supposed to apply it to this file, but again, I'm not sure how to apply a patch:
/home/briphi/builds/gcc46/src/gcc-4.6.3/gcc/unwind-dw2.c
, but this c file has includes to other "unwind" header files. Here is a link to the unwind-dw2.c file at my dropbox folder, if anyone needs to see this file without downloading/compiling gcc46: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8169867/unwind-dw2.c
Sticking with gcc46 for the moment (since I found the patch for this version)...
The post with the link to the patch to gcc46 is here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 0#p1229880
The patch at pastebin.com is here: http://pastebin.com/VkgE27Pd and looks like this:

The file(s) that need patching are mentioned in the patch, so you don't have to know yourself where they are.
patch files like these are usually applied from the directory where you build stuff.
On your system that is probably this folder : /home/briphi/builds/gcc46/src/gcc-4.6.3/
for details about the command used to apply the patch, t0m5k1's link above should help.
Thanks Lone_Wolf for the help. I'm suffering from information overload at the moment, so (@t0m5k1) even though I found the same results that you found through google, they weren't explicit enough.
