[solved]Can't get IP address with DHCP over wifi

I try to connect my laptop to a network via wifi (WPA). I'm connected and the router also says that there is a computer connected to wifi. But then DHCP time out. The ethernet connection is working fine and I have no problem to get an IP address with it. I have no idea what is wrong...

Ok it was in fact my fault. I did configure iwconfig like with a WEP connection, and it was WPA... Strangely it was not rejected, so I assumed it was connected...

Cisco 891 not getting IP address with DHCP with latest IOS

Hi,
I have a few Cisco 891 routers that are configured as DHCP clients on the WAN interface.
For some reason when I boot the router with a late IOS, the router is not receiving an address.
It works just as expected with the older IOSes.
Any ideas of what changed?
This is how the interface is configured:

Doing a "show ip interface brief" shows that FastEthernet8 is unassigned with the affected IOS.
With the older IOSes there is an IP address.
I had to downgrade two routers due to this issue, and did not have plenty of time to troubleshoot.
Both of the routers are connected to DSL from the same ISP...
Anyone seen anything like this before?

I have a MacBookPro3,1 that connects to WIFI no problem. It used to connect to ethernet when I originally bought it, however I've been using WIFI exclusively for the past 2 years.
Recently I had a need to connect via ethernet and it wouldn't work at home (apple airport router). I next tried connecting via ethernet at a friends house using a linksys WRT54G, no dice either. I have the computer in the lab today (University Network) and I get the same error. 3 different locations, 3 different routers, all same problem. It used to connect to home and university networks ethernet right away.
IP address assigned is 169.xxx.xxx.xxx - subnet - 255.255.0.0
no other info. It's showing up as connecting to the network, but unable to communicate with DHCP. It does work if I enter all of the information in manually.
At first I thought I had messed something up in networking preferences as I tend to play around with things alot. However I did a complete system format, and fresh install of OSX Lion and I still have the same problem, without any of my meddling around to confuse things.
What gives?

Obviously there is no eth0. How can I set things up using the interface name "enp0s25"? By the way using dhcpcd works so there is no problem with the phsyical connection.

I solved the problem by replacing

I'm not sure whether this is the best way to solve the problem. If somebody knows a better solution it would not hurt to post it here.

How can i get the address with drag and drop from address book into pages?

I want to creat a letter withe the new pages. Normaly it was possible to put the adress from the adressbook with drag and drop into the letter. So it was possible to create one letter with many different adresses. But now I didn't find this function any more. How to do ist now?

Sounds like you "upgraded" to Pages 5.
Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5.

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5, after Exporting your files to Pages '09, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

Can't get on internet with 3g or wifi

I have a greyed out wifi on my phone and have done a full restore, reset network settings etc. Iw will not even connect to the internet via 3G, says in appstore 'unable to connect to app store' when in safari it states 'connection to the internet has been lost'
I also cannot access email....
help please I have read about the greyed out wifi which i think may be a hardware issue but i didn't think it would affect the whole internet?

Mine is doing the exact same thing, and nobody on any of these threads has had any luck fixing it yet, so far as I can tell. iSync is worthless since it simply won't see the ipod and basically is not used at all now as .mac is done through its own preference window. What did work for me, and was quite easily done, was to just open your ipod through the finder and delete the vcard data in the contacts folder. Export your contacts from address book as a vcard to that contacts folder on your ipod, and it all works fine.
Still won't sync...but at least this only takes a minute to do. I'd like to actually fix it though.

Can I get a MBP with 32 GB of RAM?: I know someone is going to give me a 1-word reply: "NO".
But what I want to encourage is a bit of a discussion here. Why not 32 gb RAM? Isn't it about time? It can't be the price or?? Can't the software handle it?
I keep things a long time--- 10yr+ PBG4; 5 year MBP-13" --- and that's great when I could (and have) upgraded with more RAM, SSD's etc. But today's Macs are basically sealed boxes like an iPad I believe (talking MacBOOK / MBP's here, not iMacs)(although they are fairly tightly sealed nowadays, too!). So I really have to purchase thinking "What will I need in 2020 or 2022?" -or- "How do I win the lottery?"
Any comments appreciated -- I was planning to upgrade my mid-2010 MBP from 8 gb to 16 gb RAM (yes, you can… just this one model of that age) --- but perhaps save the $150 and put it towards a new one--- then again, $150 is only about 5 hours of an Watch so might just do that anyway…

I believe this IS a problem -- it is an issue I have about not being able to run things without enough RAM.
And I think "No you can't" is not a very helpful answer at all! In fact I prefaced my inquiry / problem with my first sentence thinking someone like you would give just such a reply---- was trying to avoid that!
There might be companies out there like OWC or Crucial or I don't know who -- that could / might / might some day provide increased RAM for existing MBP's just like for my MBP 2010 that is spec'd at 8 gb max RAM but there is a 16 gb solution out there.
So if anyone else would like to try to solve this problem for me --

How can I get the address book to sort by "Last" name (using v 31.3.0).

After a computer crash, I had to load Thunderbird (v31.3.0) back into my machine running Windows 8.1, and I successfully imported my address book back up file into Thunderbird (v31.3.0).
My problem is that I don't see an option to sort the address book by "Last" name, which was available with the version of Thunderbird I had before the crash.
How can I get the address book to sort by "Last" name?

In 'Address Book'
Select address book
'View' > 'Show name as' > 'Last/First'
The you can sort by Name.
Either click on 'Name' column header to change sort order,
If reversed, then click on 'Name' column header again to reverse the order.
Or
'View' > 'Sort By' > choose 'Name' and 'Ascending'

Setting machines to manual address with DHCP

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I found the ARD Unix command to change clients to use a manual IP address with DHCP used for router and subnet. (Thanks again to Dave Sawyer!)
Here's the question, is there a way to change the machines to this setting, and have them keep their current IP addresses?
This is all in an effort to keep from having to re-add machines in ARD 2.2 after they've received a new IP. Is ARD 2.x dependent on the IP to keep track of clients? Or this there a way for it to keep track using the machine name, regardless of what the IP is?

Sounds to me like you're doing this wrong. No matter what, DHCP with static address is not what you want.
Comcast Business class will (or, at least, can) give you static IP addresses, so the first thing to do is check whether you do have static addresses or not, and if not decide whether you want them.
Then you should look to seutp your server on a private LAN connected to the Comcast box via a NAT router (as shipped from Comcast, their router is more of a bridge, and they don't give you access to the router maintenance page (at least, they didn't last time I dealt with them).
So what you need is some device between Comcast and your server. There are any number of boxes, from a variery of vendors that will work. The'll take the public IP address (either DHCP or static) from Comcast and connect that to your private LAN. Once you have a private LAN you can (and should) setup your server manually, with a static IP address in your private LAN.

Whether you can redownload music depends upon what country that you in. If you are using your computer's iTunes then does music show in the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page (on your phone you might be able to redownload media via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app) ? If music shows there, but not that album, then check to see if it's hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
If you aren't in a country when you can redownload music and it's still on your phone then you should be able to copy it over from the phone via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.

I find it easier to implement the Runnable interface rather than extending a thread. This allows your class to extend another class (ie if you extend thread you can't extend something else, but if you implement Runnable you have the ability to inherit from something). Here's how I would write it:
