I'm also wondering.. isn't php-5.3.5 the newest?
Thanks for any advice in advance!

5.3.5-2 is the latest.  Your mirrors are not up-to-date.  Switch to new mirrors which are current then refresh and do a full system update (pacman -Syyu).

    This is a brand new 32-bit build on my laptop. Everything is working great, but for some reason I cant get some AUR packages. I have Yaourt, pacman-color, and slock installed from AUR and working fine, but I cant get mpd-git or mplayer-svn installed? I have gcc, python installed and tried both root and user accounts. • [SOLVED] Pacman: cant install, remove, update packages

    I'm new to Arch, and yes I've read the Wiki and the sticky post "pacman error: FILENAME exists in filesystem".
    I can't install or update packages. Just synced the local database. I want to install the package "mc", so I ran:
    pacman -S mc
    All required packages were downloaded but then I got lots of:
    [package-name]: /path/to/file exists in file system
    I tried to remove that package but it says:
    loading package data...
    error: '[package-name]': could not find or read package
    I'm totally confused!

    Getting errors when trying to build this, it seems to rely on something already being in /usr/lib/modules/3.10.3-1-ARCH/build
    Does this rely on some kernel source package or something?

    Looks like it: linux-headers package. Could that be added to the dependencies, please?

    The mplayer subversion tree as of right now has 2752 files, so the initial download will take a little while. It tries to optimize the code based on your current processor and it does a bit of linking. It does take a while to compile.
    banshee28 wrote:2) Whats the best way to maintain this and keep it up-to-date? Will it update with -Syu or do I need to install it again? Not sure about the svn setup?
    Assuming that you didn't delete the build folder, the package will only pull down new files in the build tree, so it won't take as long to download next time. Although, it's pulling in FFmpeg which changes very quickly. The compile times will probably stay roughly the same.

  • Cant install new language package on mobile dictio...

    Hi,
    im trying to install on my 5800 new language(thai)
    i have  english,hebrew.bulgarian,
    when im install the thai language , the software want to remove other language and i need to choose , but i can remove only the hebrew language.
    i want to remove the bulgarian, and there is no option to remove it..
    i hope there is a solution for this problem..
    there is a way to uninstall all the dictionary software and reinstall it with the language that i want to install ?

    Hi there!
    Regarding your concern in downloading a language package for your phone 5800 XpressMusic, actually it's possible you just have to open the diction ary application on your phone then once it prompts you Only English Language install, install other language? so press yes and it will direct you to the Nokia Website, but if you don't see it press Options inside the mobile dictionary and then look for Language and then you have there the selection download, same thing you'll be routed to the Nokia Website, just select the Language but make sure that the language is being used in your country because if your phone will not support it, you will not be able to use that language you downloaded.
    Hope tis' help!

  • [SOLVED] Problem installing gnome-extra packages

    I have completed the installation and all that left is gnome-extra packages. I fetched the packages and after the integrity check it says
    Failed to commit transaction invalid or corrupted packages
    gnome-games-3.0.21- <pacgae_info> is either invalid or corrupted
    and the installation exits.
    Now how do I fix this. I tried forcing the upgrade process by pacman -Syu but to no avail. Can you help me fixing the issue.

    Ok I solved the problem.
    First I removed the problematic packages from /var/cache/pacman/pkg and then used rankmirrors to get the best mirror.
    After that used pacman -Syy to refresh and reinstalled the gnome-extra package .. Working fine
    Thanks

  • [solved] Build of php package with mssql support - checking my process

    Since the straight 'php' package doesn't support mssql, I'm in the process of trying to build and install an updated copy that has that switch turned on. The information I've seen out there seems pretty straight forward, but my results are odd, so I'm checking my work here...
    I did an abs to pull down the tree (had to use abs -t), created an abs directory under my root home dir, then copied the extra/php branch to /root/abs/php
    Edit the PKGBUILD adding the line
        --with-mssql \
    to the end (line 130) of the list of  phpextensions= that is later used in the ./configure line of PKGBUILD. Then from the same directory, run makepkg --asroot -f
    then remove the old php with pacman -Rd php
    then install the new php with pacman -U ./php-5.3.2-6-i686.pkg.tar.xz
    Then modify my php.ini for mssql support
    and then get the wierd results:
    - php reports it does not have mssql support. phpinfo() shows the ./configure command line and the --with-mssql piece is not there.
    - a php -m reports "PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php/modules/mssql.so' - /usr/lib/php/modules/mssql.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0
    A search for mssql.so comes up empty on the system. I am not sure why it isn't there, but I wanted to make sure I was doing the above steps first before running down the php code specific rabbit hole trying to find mssql.so in case it is under a different name in the source and then compiled out to be mssql.so in the end result.
    (note - I have freetds on the system along with it's source files from the package, and no mssql.so in there either)
    Thanks,
    -Jeff

    Did all that, no real errors, only a few warnings, but did figure out what was going on and will put it here in case anyone searches on this and is in the same boat. In search of mssql.so I found this web page http://howtogetitworking.com/2008/02/26 … p-on-unix/ which talks about needing to build the mssql.so file yourself. Specifically, going into src//ext/mssql/ then
    # cd /uploaded_path/mssql/
    # phpize
    # ./configure
    # make
    # make install
    and suddenly I have mssql.so, restart apache and I have mssql support. I wasn't expecting to have to compile a subsection of php after doing a package build with the switches I wanted, but I guess that's what I had to do.
    Thanks,
    -Jeff

    I cant install itunes !
    I downloaded the latest version from the offcial site, and everytime i try to install it it stops half way due to Windows Installer Package error. It says I'm missing a program required to continue this installation.
    I've tried removing all the files with removal tools, running it with admin rights, disabling firewalls, User account controls, updated my Windows update to the latest version. Read all the threads and tried everything but it still doesn't work.
    Does any1 have any suggestions?

    Download and save a full itunes setup file.
    Use Winrar to unzip the file into a folder.  Then right mouse click the file AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi from that folder to install.
    If you don't have winrar, you can go to this link to download a free trial version.

  • [SOLVED] TeXLive: Installing font package and updating font map fails

    I am trying to install the newtx package, which is available here at CTAN [1].
    Since I don't want to mess with my TeXLive installation, I am trying to do that as a local user only.
    So I placed the package into ~/texmf/tex/latex/. , ran texhash on texmf/ to update my local ls-R, and so far everything works nicely; for example, the .sty files in that package can be seen:
    $ texhash texmf
    texhash: Updating /home/$USER/texmf/ls-R...
    texhash: Done.
    $ kpsewhich newtxmath.sty
    /home/$USER/texmf/tex/latex/newtx/newtxmath.sty
    Now, following the packages README [2], I need to update the my TeX font maps. Seems like 'updmap' is the right tool to do that for my user only:
    $ updmap --enable Map=ntx.map
    copy /etc/texmf/web2c/updmap.cfg => /home/$USER/.texlive/texmf-config/web2c/updmap.cfg
    Config file: "/home/$USER/.texlive/texmf-config/web2c/updmap.cfg"
    dvips output dir: "/home/$USER/.texlive/texmf-var/fonts/map/dvips/updmap"
    pdftex output dir: "/home/$USER/.texlive/texmf-var/fonts/map/pdftex/updmap"
    dvipdfm output dir: "/home/$USER/.texlive/texmf-var/fonts/map/dvipdfm/updmap"
    pxdvi output dir: "/home/$USER/.texlive/texmf-var/fonts/map/pxdvi/updmap"
    /usr/bin/updmap is creating new map files
    using the following configuration:
    LW35 font names : URWkb
    prefer outlines : true
    texhash enabled : true
    download standard fonts (dvips) : true
    download standard fonts (pdftex) : true
    create a mapfile for pxdvi : false
    Scanning for LW35 support files [ 3 files]
    Scanning for MixedMap entries [ 36 files]
    Scanning for KanjiMap entries [ 0 files]
    Scanning for Map entries [129 files]
    ERROR: The following map file(s) couldn't be found:
    ntx.map
    Did you run mktexlsr?
    You can delete non-existent map entries using the option
    --syncwithtrees.
    That's my problem: it can't find ntx.map, although I ran mktexlsr (which is texhash). So what to do?
    1: http://www.ctan.org/pkg/newtx
    2: http://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/mirrors/CTAN … wtx/README
    SOLUTION: The trick consists in placing all files into the necessary folders: *.map goes to fonts/map/newtx/, *.vf to fonts/vf/newtx/, and *.tfm to fonts/tfm/newtx/. Also, *.pfb needs to be placed in fonts/pfb/newtx/. *.enc files go to fonts/enc/newt/, and everything else remains in tex/latex/newtx/.

    ConnorBehan wrote:Oh it's part of the mlocate package. It will search your entire filesystem for a filename but there are other programs that do the same. I just meant, can you find ntx.map yourself? If so, you could put it in a new directory or let tex know with the TEXINPUTS environment variable.
    I really don't think that this makes a lot of sense as regards TeXlive; I have checked (with kpsewhich --var-value) if indeed all variables TEXMFHOME, TEXMFVAR, and TEXMFCONFIG are pointing to reasonable places, and indeed they do.
    I have found this guide:
    http://people.debian.org/~preining/TeX/ … n/ch4.html
    Although it is Debian, I figure one can easily adapt it. So I tried that, and placed ntx.map in TEXMFHOME/fonts/map/$SYNTAX/newtx/ntx.map . I wasn't sure about $SYNTAX, so I just tried it with dvips. This time, $ updmap --enable Map=ntx.map did actually work, and there were not errors:
    $ updmap --enable Map=ntx.map
    copy /etc/texmf/web2c/updmap.cfg => /home/janis/.texlive/texmf-config/web2c/updmap.cfg

    dvipdfm output dir: "/home/$USER/.texlive/texmf-var/fonts/map/dvipdfm/updmap"
    pxdvi output dir: "/home/$USER/.texlive/texmf-var/fonts/map/pxdvi/updmap"
