[Solved] Default interface routing issues

I have two network interfaces connected to my newly installed ArchLinux server,  one LAN and one WAN connection.  The trouble is that all traffic that is trying to connect to the wan interface gets no response, while the LAN connection work without any issue.
I am using udev to change my interfaces to lan0 and wan0, and i use netcfg to load the diffrent profiles.
Lan0 uses a static local ip 192.168.0.118  with 192.168.0.2 as gateway
Wan0 uses dhcp  with dynamic ip from my ISP.
When i manually bring down my lan0 interface all my traffic goes through wan0 correctly, and it even responds to external calls.
So i belive the issue lies somewhere in the local routing?
I am trying to post all config files needed directly.

I have had this server running Ubuntu for the past 2 years with the same setup on the NIC's and there everything worked, so I guess i have become a little lazy.

  • Default interface reset issue after ISE configuration

    Hi,
    We're testing VOIP phones with ISE. ISE detects the phones by MAB and places them in our Voice VLAN with a DACL for security, this works fine.
    After the tests I configured the port to a non ISE port (default interface) and added the normal working configuration.
    Result is that the IP phone doesn't get an IP address. If I plug the same phone on a different interface on the same switch it's working again.
    I have no idea why this strange behavior occurs, maybe someone can help me out.

  • [SOLVED] XMBC Interface Rendering Issue

    Hi all
    After upgrading to gnome 3.8 I noticed that my XBMC interface started to behave strangely, mainly the fan art backgrounds started to flicker a couple of times before showing up and sometimes fails to load at all showing the default background image. This happens to other items such as text  etc from time to time as well, but not as often. However once starting to play a video everything looks perfectly good.
    I think it has to do with that I had to enable SNA for my Intel graphics driver when I upgraded to gnome 3.8 since this happens both in my Gnome session and in my XBMC session, is there anyone who have stumbled upon something similar and can offer me some help with this issue?

    Seems to have been fixed after fiddling around in the settings pane, not sure exactly what did it but I think it was related to the v-sync settings in menus.

  • Routing Issue Accessing Inside Interface of ASA

    Ok so I'm making this more complex than it needs to be and can't see the forest for the trees. I'm setting up an ASA 5510 with multiple contexts. I'm working with my main internal context for my internal traffic. I have created interfaces on this context as follows:

    My workstation has an IP 10.10.30.20 255.255.0.0 with a default gateway that points to my core switch (10.10.50.151).
    When I try to access the inside interface of the ASA via ssh from my workstation I can't connect. I tried to ping the inside interface IP address of the ASA from my workstation and it doesn't reply. I can however ping anything on my internal network from the ASA through the inside interface. What am I missing on this?

    I figured out this issue but now have a new issue. The problem I had accessing the internal network from the ASA was due to the core switch I was being routed through. After looking at the core I saw that the default route was redirecting all traffic to the IP address of the inside interface on the production ASA. I have since pulled a spare switch and created an isolated network with a laptop and the inside interface on the new ASA. This worked great.
    Now to my new problem. I am trying to access our ISPs external address from the ASA. The ISP has provided us with two vlans (100 and 101) on one connection and has given us two public IPs (one is the IP for the router on their end and the second is the IP I am supposed to use on my outside interface for vlan 100). I have created sub-interfaces on my outside interface and defined 0/0.1 as vlan 100 and 0/0.2 as vlan 101. VLAN 101 will go to our rack at our disaster recovery site so it will just be an extension of our existing network.
    My network is as follows:

    When I try to ping the 2.2.2.1 address from the ASA it doesn't work. If both my ASA outside port and the port to the ISP are both trunk ports shouldn't it route both VLANs (100 and 101) without any issue or am I missing something in my thinking?

  • Routing Issue with 2 Nics on Windows Server 2008 R2

    Good Day
    My issue is I needed to set up port forwarding for a web server to communicate with our hotels management server to check availability.
    Initially the server has a single Nic configured in the 172.26.1.0 /24 network  , Its default gateway the Switch vlan interface 172.26.1.1
    We have many vlans for all the systems in the hotel and the server also needs to communicate with 3 other servers on different subnets which it does just fine.
    I now added an additional adsl line with a managed router which has an interface of 192.168.10.1 /24 , My servers second NIC has the IP address 192.168.10.2 with its gateway being the 192.168.10.1
    This 192.168.10.0 network is in a L2 Vlan and the rest of the network does not know it exists. It was working fine then just stopped asfter i added a static route to the server , which i did with RRas... I did this as the server could not communicate with
    just one of the servers..
    If i disable the 172.26.1.0 NIC the port forwarding works but then obviously the rest of the network goes down.. I know its a routing issue but am lost
    please help

  • Routing Issue with 3550

    I am having a routing issue with a 3550 switch. I have 5 vlans and I need one of the vlans to access a different router based on destination IP rather than our edge router. I have entered a static route on the 3550 that points to the secondary router whenever a certain network is tried to be accessed. My problem is I can't seem to get the traffic to flow correctly. When I trace route an address on the Internet the path shows as expected, the 3550 then my firewall then my edge router. When I trace an address that is on the other side of the secondary router I get the 3550 as the first hop, then nothing. I can ping the address so I know the path is up. What could be the issue?     in addition to Mahmood´s post, what do you have defined as the next hop for the default route to the secondary router ? If you use an interface on the 3550 as the next hop, make sure that whatever is connected is in the same subnet, otherwise use the IP address of the next hop. So, let´s say your remote network is 192.168.1.0, and the secondary router is connected to FastEthernet0/1, your default route should look like this if the secondary router is in the same subnet (in this example, the IP address of the secondary router would be 172.16.1.2):
    interface FastEthernet0/1
    no switchport
    ip address 172.16.1.1 255.255.255.252
    ip route 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 FastEthernet0/0
    Otherwise, try:
    ip route 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 172.16.1.2
    where 172.16.1.2 would be the address of the secondary router.
    Does that make sense ?

  • No airtunes with pppoE due to routing issues?

    I just switched to an optical fiber to the home internet connection (which is getting pretty popular here in Japan). Needless to say, the network is very fast, however, I can no longer use airtunes via my airport express network. The airport express stations (both of them) no longer show up in iTunes. My guess is that this is due to a routing issue and the same problem must have been encountered by others before and hopefully solved. The new internet connection uses pppoE to make a connection to the internet service provider. This gives me an internet address of the form 125.197.xx.yy. I still have my airport express set to get an address via dhcp (which the new optical fiber hub provides) and is of the typical private network form 192.168.1.4. When I am connected by pppoE to the internet, my iTunes cannot see my airport express due to routing issues I assume. Is there an elegant solution to this -- can I use my airtunes and the internet at the same time? Would modifying the internet routing help here (I have used this before when I have had multiple interfaces going (e.g. one in a secure local lan and the other supporting an internet connection via ssh to the outside world). Any advise would be much appreciated. I haven't tried asking my airport express to log in via pppoE -- is this the only solution?

    Well as I have for my last several posts -- I solved the problem myself. I am pretty sure that the root cause was a routing problem (pretty obvious in fact). By have the airport express base station connect via pppoE itself (I have a remote relay airport express as well) and switching to NAT and DHCP distribution of addresses via the airport express, I can both see my airtunes as well as my ethernet connection. It is a non-ideal solution as I have a fixed IP which would have been convenient to log in from outside to, but I guess I can live with that.

  • Interface/Gamma issue - Display profiling

    If you profile/calibrate your display (with professional software) to Gamma L* - darkish, grey boxes appear in some application-windows. Never happend in Tiger so I figure it's a Leopard issue.*
    If you use Gamma 1.8, the Apple default, Photoshops windows (in my case) look perfekt. With Gamma 2.2 they're barely noticable (pretty much only if you know the boxes are there).
    All the other settings you can choose while profiling - like temperature, luminance, chromatic adaption, profile-type etc. don't influence windows in this way - but as soon as you change the gamma those boxes appear.
    I would very much like to know how you guys deal with it - do you profile your display to 1.8/2.2 (like a CRT) OR do you use L* and live with the boxes OR have you profiled your display properly/with L* but you don't have this nuisance? (!?)
    Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.

    Some applications use the monitor-profile to draw their interface. Like Photoshop and Graphic Converter. (The only 2 I've installed, I'm sure some video-editing-applications, even players are concerned that's maybe the reason some people think it's 'random'). I think these apps do so to immediately can reflect a change in the profile, without restart.
    Now Mac OS X Leopard seems to not allow these applications to do so in certain parts of the interface. (Must be new, that's why there were no issues with Tiger) The window itself is drawn by the OS. That's the reason only elements like the text and buttons are affected.
    And the problem is that the OS uses its 'Generic RGB Profile.icc' which contains Gamma 1.8. So if you calibrate your display with Gamma L* (which you really should do and most profiling-software does by default) those grey boxes appear in said applications.
    The solution is easy. Replace the system-rgb-profile with one that supports L* - like the eciRGB profiles.
    To do so you have to rename the .icc file in finder but also edit the information inside (which can be done with the ColorSync Utility). Then copy it to the System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles folder.
    *After that the grey boxes dissapear and everything is back to normal.* There's some difference in the tabular data like the CMM and a chroma-entry, so you might want to re-write your display-profile just to make sure everything's alright.
    I haven't seen anything yet but could imagine that the rendering of webpages in safari might be affected. Or rather some webbrowsers' without colour management. (Just a theory, hopefully not...)

    Besides the aforementioned chroma-entry in the Apple default profile (which loss shouldn't cause any issues) there's also the localisation information. Because the profile is named differently in different languages of OS X. I haven't found anything causing trouble (probably because if the profile isn't found it resets back to the english version by default).
    Solution:
    This would be easy if someone knows about a .icc file editor. If we could add those localised names from the Apple profile no application would ever know. I've only found hexadecimal editors but won't put something like that on my machine, especially since everything works fine.
    *I hope Apple comes up with a real solution soon, this seems like too much of a hack - considering the delicate nature of colour management.*
    *If you read this and know what I'm talking about and disagree or know any reasons why one would not want to do this - please speak up! I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to know.*

    Hello there, switched to 10.5(.4) on a MacPro today and now check this out, it's only in Photoshop. Illy and Indesign and Bridge are fine. No other applications are affected.

  • Possible internet routing issues driving me crazy!

    I've somehow hit a problem accessing a particular favourite website and it seems I may have a routing issue.
    I've spoken with a friend who is fairly network savvy and he's suggested I raise a case \ complaint with BT. I thought I'd use this forum to test if I'm missing something I could be doing to fix it before logging a problem with BT Helpdesk!
    I've a BT Homehub 2 (Current firmware    4.7.5.1.83.3.5 (Type B) and I can access pretty much all websites I care to look at without any issue at all, however the site I read most days is now no longer viewable on any of my 2 PC's nor my iPhone. When I try to access it I  get no error messages at all just a blank white page.
    Doesn't matter if I try using IE or Firefox or Chrome browers it's the same result - I just see a blank white page.
    The site in question www.celticquicknews.co.uk (or www.celticquicknews.com) and is definitely available, as I can access it when using a site such as http://www.free-internet-organization.tk/ on both my PC's and iphone so I know the web site is up and running and available for browsing but since Thursday lunchtime I've had no joy in being to access that particular site directly wihout resorting to using another middleman site to let me view it.
    I have tweeted the guy who hosts the www.celticquicknews.co.uk site and he's said his site is fine but has numerous similar queries around BTINTERNET folks having the same issue as I'm reporting.
    I run McAfee Internet Security and having disabled the various firewall \secure browsing functions no improvement still no joy.
    I did successfully somehow connect directy to the illusive web site this morning (Sunday 1st May) on my iphone at around 10am, but by the time I boiled the kettle to have a coffeee and sit and read the site it became inaccessable again on my iphone and both my PC's! So what's going on?

    I've reset my HH several times over the weekend and am baffled as to how I can somehow have 1 site excluded from my browsing options for no obvious reason other than a suspected internet routing issue.
    My iPhone is on ORANGE and when disabling the wireless connection it too is unable to view the site in question so it's a real pain!
    Not sure where to go to progress this so any help \ guidance is very much appreciated.......

    Appreciate the help....been out for most of the day and checked in to see if any additional posts.
    I tried pinging the site and it does seem to resolve OK and also tried accessing site via IP but same issue - blank white page.

    The tracert comments make sense so that's helped me understand, thanks for checking that out.
    So what's the best option for me? Am I wasting BT and my own time logging a case?
    I'd not usually bother pursuing this for the sake of a single web site but I'm bemused how this has happened since last week?

  • Sender Mail Adapter - default interface name

    Hi,
    I need to receive through one e-mail sender channel tree different kind of messages.
    In sender mail adapter I specify ecept other parameters "Default Interface Name". When I send a message with a same as defined in an interface the message is processed correctly.
    But when I send a different kind of message then I get an error : "Receiver could not be determined".
    Is any way around how through one sender e-mail adapter receive a different kinds of messages ?

    After today's reboot, the audio device no longer works. E.g., VLC says:

    The strange thing is that the sound card does in fact work; e.g. the sound test for "HDA Intel PCH", the first entry in my KDE Audio Settings, works. But the entry "default" does not and I suppose that is also the device that VLC is complaining about.
    I've tried blacklisting the HDMI driver and switched to the other audio output modules in VLC. I've also checked I'm still member of the "audio" group.

    P.S. Solved this myself. I had a USB-to-MIDI adapter cable plugged in during boot, which seems to have been causing these problems. I suppose systemd thought it was a USB sound card? I was wondering why dmesg said something about USB sound when the computer doesn't have any USB sound devices. Hardware detection epic fail. Although I guess the cable counts as a MIDI device at least, so in a way it's correct.
    So it looks like I'll always have to unplug the MIDI cable before rebooting.

  • 11g Task flow - Method call with router Issue

    Hi, I am using bounded task flow method call - which is default activity. The outcome of method call will go to a router and that decides which method/page fragment has to be selected. But when ever i try to call the default activity only the default out come of the router (Page fragment) is shown in the jspx.     Hi Sankari,
    Since after the initial method call, your control flow has the router as its next stop, the //method-call/method/outcome/fixed-outcome can be set to a literal value(go to router) instead of an EL.
    And let router decide where to go next(by EL).
    Or you can discard your router activity, let the method-call activity decide where to go directly by setting //method-call/method/outcome/to-string to "true". Then the return value of the method decide the next stop.

    Just playing with extendscript toolkit and ps cs5, i Have an issue with javascript based panels.
    Both my attempts and toolscript samples ebete a New window object is created as panel or window disappear as Sion as shown.
    Otherwise modals persist (the script us dispenser and my window not garbaged).
    How to solve the problem?

    Oh yeah the mouseover->layer creation is not a problem but only a practical
    situation. The answer is "JS cannot be used to create panels"... thank's
    it's as i doubt :/
    A solution could be using Adobe Configurator 2.0 to draw the panel and JS
    for code automation... i just discovered it on Labs: i'll try for a while.

    When I use Nokia Maps on my N95, all streets and towns which contain special characters such as: é, è, ü, ä, ö, etc… do appear garbled. For example,
    Zürich appears as: Zã¼rich
    München appears as: Mã¼nchen
    Liège appears as: Liã"ge
    I saw a couple posts on this forum where people suggested to format the memory card, some other suggested to reload the firmware (my N95 has 12.0.013) but nothing has helped. I went as far as using someone's PC whose WinXP is installed in French - I thought that maybe the operating system or regional settings could have some influence, but I was wrong.
    Has anyone solved this extremely annoying issue?

    I solved it. It took me one evening. I wonder why Nokia haven't published any comments on this old issue.
    Solution can be found below, but before I want to tell about some technical details. Maybe guys at Nokia will read them
    As someone on this forum said before the problem is that map names are in UTF-8 format, but phone tries to show them using another encoding. After some googling I found that this issue is well-known because Nokia phones use ISO 8859-1 (which is similar to Windows-1252, Western European) by default but some application assume UTF-8 to be default.
    At first, I discovered that when I start Nokia map with empty SD card and allow it to download something from internet, all names were shown correctly. I supposed that the problem sits in that awful Map Loader, but I was wrong: it does absolutely nothing special with data files, just downloading and unzipping. And this super-mega-feature-rich-map-loader require about 40Mb to download for .NET 3.0 plus 10 Mb for itself. Never seen anything worse
    So I've started to compare contents of one SD card with incorrect street and city names and another with correct.
    After some time I came across Cachedatheader.cdt file in diskcache folder. And what do you think?
    The file from correct SD card contains a literal string: "UTF-8". While incorrect one contains a string saying "ISO 8859-1". I've nearly fell out of my chair after seeing that.
    I've replaced wrong file with correct one and names became readable on all my 180mb of previously downloaded maps.
    Finally, after playing with it some more I found a simple solution which should work for everyone:
    ***** SOLUTION *****
    1. Enable internet access in Nokia Maps application (set it to When Needed).
    2. Access memory card from your PC and go to "\PRIVATE\20001f66\diskcache" folder.
    3. Delete "CachedatHeader.cdt" file. Perhaps you should backup it somewhere before deleting, but it looks like it can be removed safely without affecting existing maps.
    4. Put the card back in the phone if you extracted it and start Nokia Maps.
    5. Allow Nokia Maps to access internet and try downloading some new locations (you don't need to download much, just let it access server) or searching for something.
    6. Now codepage should be correct and all names become readable.
    This effect seems to be permanent and will stay even if you disable internet access later. Also note that you don't have to format card, remove or reinstall any map files. The problem is just in one small file.
    Nokia Maps recreates missing CachedatHeader.cdt, but it will recreate it correctly only if internet access is enabled when it starts. Probably the best way to avoid wrong codepage problem is to enable internet access at first start of Nokia Maps and use Map Loader only after downloading some bits of map directly from the phone.
