[SOLVED] dwm react strangely - azerty keycodes error

Hi,
I'm trying dwm after some time on Spectrwm, but i'm facing a strange behaviour it is impossible at all to switch to n tag with ModKey + n or put client to desired tag.
Also dmenu wont spawn with ModKey + p. It spawn perfectly with  "$: dmenu_run" in a terminal but not with dwm shortcut.
Other things seems to works fine.
is anyone already had the same behaviour ?
here is my config.h the only things that have changed from the config.def.h template is the termcmd (st replaced with terminology) and the modkey which I have change from "Alt" to "WindowsKey"

It was in fact the 6.0.1 so I presum this the 6.0 version.
I have try to recompile with and without modification in config.h switching tags or sending clien to specified tag still not working.
Also I have try with
#define MODKEY Mod4
but it wont compile.
All others keybiding works well like toggling the status bar with ModKey4 + b, increase client size, switching layout...but not the dmenu and tags functions.
I have try on my laptop and on my workstation and it does the same behaviour so it should be an error from me

  • Strange system log error from Photoshop CS4

    Hi.
    I keep getting this strange system log error from Photoshop CS4.
    It comes after a wile when using PS CS4.
    I tried to chance the memory settings and scratch disc to see if that helped. It didn't.
    I also checked all my ram for anything bad. 16GB in my Mac Pro Intel OS X 10.5.6
    Everything is updated to latest included Adobe apps.
    This is the system log error

  • Crystal reports 2011 installation INS00140 "Invalid KeyCode" error.

    I just purchased and downloaded the latest Crystal Reports 2011 (SP02) version and I am getting the infamous INS00140 Invalid KeyCode error.  I have read and tried all the solutions that I could find in this forum, and some more quasi-solutions found on the web:  I have tried the installation on 2 different XP  workstations and even on a Windows 2003 server platform, TO NO AVAIL.
    I have now spent a week 'Fiddling'  around with this, and I am not IMPRESSED.  Is there a REAL solution to this, anyone? I am not spending another week mucking around with this , and I need to know who to contact to get this RESOLVED...please.

    Hello,
    It is the crypt*.dll causing the problem. Some older program installed it into the system32 folder which is not MS Certifiable now. I found older versions of Adobe Reader put it in the \system32 folder but there may be others also.
    What is in your PATH statement?
    The problem is the version CR installs will be about 1.2 meg, older versions do not have the updates Cr requires and because what ever program is using it it's in memory so CR uses it which causes the install to fail. SP 3 I believe will have a fix from RSA and it will either be renamed and/or not sure what they are going to do to it to fix compatibility issues with older versions.
    You could try just using the defaults in both the System and User:
    PATH=C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;
    Copy your path from the System Environment variables and then change it to something like the above and try again. Once Cr is installed then name it back. Problem is if that program that does need it runs first CR is going to break when trying to start it up. If that happens and it installs then try renaming the one in the \system32 folder and copy CR's in it's place. Change the PATH back and then re-boot and it may work. I believe the files is common for all and backward compatible so what ever program is using it should work with the one from the CR folder.
    I'll pass this onto one of the guys here who is looking after these install issues and see if he has any more suggestions.
    Don

  • Strange ORA-01044 error

    Hi Guys,
    I'm getting a very strange ORA-01044 error:
    Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException ORA-01044: size 87160000 of buffer bound to variable exceeds maximum 288212783965667328    at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException.HandleErrorHelper(Int32 errCode, OracleConnection conn, IntPtr opsErrCtx, OpoSqlValCtx pOpoSqlValCtx, Object src, String procedure)*

    at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()
    As you can see, the buffer size does not exceed the maximum stated, yet it is still causing an exception.
    Some background.. A new parameter has been added to a stored proc that was originally working fine, this new parameter is an associative array of numbers.
    On the ODP.Net side, I create a parameter that has a collection type of "*PLSQLAssociativeArray*" and Oracle DB Type of "*Int32*".
    Any ideas as to what might be causing this problem?

    Hi,
    What db version?
    There is an older bug where this error would be raised if the requested buffer size exceeded the granule size of the SGA. That was from the 9.2 timeframe as I recall.
    Regards,
    Mark

    No, you were not missing "some graphical libraries that you didn't incluce in the config.h file". It looks like, as jasonwryan said, you copied functions into your config.h without checking how they work. Thus, you ended up having functions that use variables you never define in config.h (and there's alot of those!)
    Next time, either stick to already working patches found at suckless.org, or give some effort and at least try to figure out what is wrong with the code you randomly copied.

  • [SOLVED] Strange Hard Drive Errors - Read Only Filesystem?

    Solution: Discard old laptop, buy new laptop
    I have an Acer Aspire 5103WLMi. For about 2 months now, Arch has been running smoothly. Until 2 weeks ago.
    It all started when I tried to install and configure autofs on Arch x86_64. On the next reboot, all manner of errors were printed to the screen, to the effect that the internal hard drive was only being mounted read-only, rendering the system unusable. I tried to find a solution, but there were no references to read-only anywhere; fstab, grub etc. None that I could find.
    I tried reinstalling. However, x86_64 Arch refused to boot properly first time due to the exact same error; and I *know* that I'm configuring everything correctly. I managed (somehow) to coerce i686 Arch to install, and things "work".
    Seemingly out of the blue, during normal operation, all running applications will stop, and spit out error after error to the effect of "Cannot Write to Read Only Filesystem!". Sakura won't load (Input/Output error, apparently), and the only way to shut down the laptop is a hard reset (I can't log in as root or use sudo because it wants to write to the filesystem first, which it obviously can't.
    Now, I'm going to be giving the insides of this laptop a good cleanout this weekend, and I'm in the process of backing up all of my data, but I was wondering if anyone else has come across a similar form of misbehaviour; or (with a bit of luck) some potential solutions?
    This is very peculiar, because there seems to be no reason why the laptop suddenly loses write permissions to the hard drive. Cheers.
    Edit: I think I should point out that my /boot partition is Ext2, and / and /home are Ext3

    Could this truly be referring to my problem, since the 'logs' show that the *exact same* error occurred many times.
    Not that this tells me how to fix it...
    Well, if anyone knows if there is a solution, I'd love to know. If the only solution is to ditch the Hard Drive, fair enough. Either way: I'm backing up all of my important data ASAP.

    Oh, and kclive18, after I noticed that I couldn't get onto my Drive, I reinstalled arch, leaving no trace of /etc/autofs/auto.media.
    Additionally, somehow I have now been able to install Arch x86_64, but the problems still occur...

  • [SOLVED] DWM Compile Errors

    Hey guys,
    I'm new to arch linux, and newish to linux in general. I'm trying to compile dwm and keep running into the same error. I have been trying to follow the wiki entry on dwm to a T but have not had success thus far.
    Currently what I've done is:
    1. update abs
    2. copy makepkg files to ~/dwm
    3. edit config.h, save
    4. makepkg -f >> PKGFILE
    5. makepkg -efi
    Then I get this
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate
    thanks
    Last edited by raidicus (2010-05-29 23:43:57)

    Well, its definitely possible that I misunderstood the process of compiling. i thought you needed to edit dwm's config.h before you compiled it...
    IE you get a bunch of config files, edit them, then make an installable package out of them.
    in other words i thought I *was* following the wiki...but now I see that I mixed up the steps a little bit..
    So basically config.h doesn't have to be messed with then compiled...

    I'll assume you have either Windows Vista or Windows 7.
    It's easy to prevent the message during Windows startup. But we're dealing with a system file. There may be other problems. Best to run a file check (sfc /scannow at an elevated command prompt) first.
       Use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista ...

    A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal")

  • [SOLVED] encountered a strange problem part locale or keycode

    i have exhausted all my possibilities at this point so asking the community for some guidance.
    Terminal: urxvt
    localectl status:
    System Locale: LANG=sv_SE.UTF8
    VC Keymap: sv-latin1

    LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.UTF-8"
    LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.UTF-8"
    LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8
    Part of the problem is that the asterix(star) * is not representing right keycode or something.
    for example,
    ls -l | grep *.txt //returns nothing even if it has results.
    also in tab compleate it adds parts of the command into the other command
    or adds it again like pacman pacman or pacmanpac.
    Also if you do just * it will return the first order file name from the directory;
    zsh: command not found: c-notes.log
    locale -a:
    C
    en_US.utf8
    POSIX
    sv_SE.utf8
    vconsole.conf
    KEYMAP=sv-latin1
    FONT=ter-112n
    locale.conf
    LANG=sv_SE.UTF8
    Any words of wisdom into this would be greatly appreciated.

    This has nothing to do with ls, you are getting the expected results.  You are simply using grep incorrectly.
    $ touch one.txt two.txt three.txt
    $ ls *.txt
    one.txt three.txt two.txt
    $ ls *.txt | grep *.txt
    $ ls *.txt | grep '*.txt'
    $ ls *.txt | grep '.*\.txt'
    one.txt
    three.txt
    two.txt
    $ ls *.txt | grep '.txt'
    one.txt
    three.txt
    two.txt
    $ ls *.txt | grep '\.txt$'
    one.txt
    three.txt
    two.txt
    The last one is probably what you want.
    Of course if this is actually for ls, you should just pass the parameter to ls itself as in the second command above `ls -l *.txt`.
    Note that the third command above, or any variation of  `ls | grep *.txt`, would expand to `ls | grep one.txt two.txt three.txt` before anything else is done.  The shell expands any unquoted or unescapted wildcard characters before grep is even called.

    I just got the latest one off of the repo at git.suckless.org/dwm. the page says 6.0 but my config.mk says version 6.1. I did try the 6.0 version but the patch had errors. I am a little confused. The other patches come back with errors too. I am using an unpatched version at the moment so I would think most patches should work.
    What should I do?

  • [SOLVED] dwm: cannot open mixer

    I've been setting up dwm through the last hours and I had an issue with sound playback. Firstly, I can play any sound from the console or any other wm. The problem appears when I start dwm by using xinit but loading it through gdm seems to solve the problem but still I'm not satisfied with that solution. I think that gdm do something in order to grant access to the sound card but on the other hand I still have another problem with multiple running applications that playback sound, only the first opened application can.
    After starting dwm with xinit I get "amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such file or directory" and by running alsamixer I get "cannot open mixer: No such file or directory".
    Thanks in advance

    Well, I checked those posts.
    /dev/mixer exists
    I tried to load the snd-pcm-oss but nothing changed.
    However I noticed that I can run alsamixer as root. I'm not sure but maybe having to run gdm as root while running xinit as user made the difference but still it doesn't make sense since I can run openbox with xinit and everything works fine. I'll keep trying
    EDIT: Finally, I tried to load openbox through xinit and had the same problem. Next I tried to reboot removing gdm from the daemons and start dwm directly with the xinitrc options. Now it seems to work fine. Maybe gdm blocked the sound card once it opened.
