But if you unplug the disk and plug the disk again. The partition is re-read and I can see the sdb1.

Did anybody meet this error and tell me how to fix it ? Thanks a lot.

write the partition table and raise the above error.
I don't get any error when writing the table to an nbd.
It's probably not relevant, but I load the nbd module manually with "modprobe nbd nbds_max=2 max_part=4"
I really load that module.
I also tried losetup file, it also raised error when write the partition info.
So i think whether i forget some module or service which is used by hot re-partition.

This is a range partition - which means that each partition covers a range. And if you bothered to read up in the SQL Reference Guide on how a range partition is defined, you will notice that each partition is defined with the end value of the range it covers. There is no start value - as the previous partition's end value is the "+border+" between this and the prior partition.
I suggest that before you use a database feature you first familiarise yourself with it. Else incorrectly using it, and making the wrong assumptions about it, more than likely results.

  • How can I uninstall Bootcamp and Recover the partition for the Mac HD

How can I uninstall Bootcamp and recover the partition for the IMac HD?

Boot into OSX.  Go back into the Bootcamp utility in the Utilities folder and re-run it.  It will give you the option to remove the Windows partition and make the OSX partition fill the whole drive again.  OSX will NOT be lost in the process.  No re-installing necessary.  Only takes a few minutes or less to complete.

Thank you! All established, but a new problem with Windows 7 partition. If you install Windows on a Mac, say you gave 30GB on widows, after installation you have 2GB from 30GB, while the size of the files in Windows is 18 GB, should be free 12 from 30. Hidden files on large amounts of no (100 MB all hidden files together). Know that there is a disk which reserves memory for the system, but I don't have, I look through the taskbar there is a disk with osx and bootcamp and all. What could it be, if you of course know.

sure pretty simple.  make a backup of your current settings

then restore device from old backup you need pics off of
    then import pics to computer

you may need to save pics to camera roll first
then restore the new backup and sync pics back to phone via itunes

  • While signing a .XML file a message "cannot read the file for signing" is displayed. What is the solution.

An official site incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in requires .XML files to be uploaded. When .XML files are uploaded without digital signatures there is no problem. When digital signatures are required for signing the same a message 'CANNOT READ THE FILE FOR SIGNING" is displaced. It happens with CHROME and IE also. The solution which I have devised is that I copy the .XML files in a folder called FAKEPATH in C: drive and pick the file for signing from this folder. The browser allows the file to sign with digital signatures. What is the solution.

  • [SOLVED] Initramfs fails to properly mount luks partition

    Hello All,
As I foreshadowed in my intro, I'm having trouble getting encrypted Archlinux to work on my Acer Aspire 5750. I've previously had encrypted Debian Netinst and encrypted Aptosid working on this device. The arch iso I'm using is 2011.08.19-core-i686.
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=124415 appears similar and Tallahassee offers a workaround, but it doesn't work for me (unless I'm doing something wrong?)
I suspect there is a bug in the init scripts used by the initramfs. I would like to first of all determine whether I really should file a bug report (and if so where), and secondly whether we can find a workaround to get things up and running in the meantime.
    Now for the meaty bits.
Old grub doesn't appear to support lvm or luks, so I first of all prepare for grub 2 by installing the gptfdisk package into the iso environment. I use gdisk to set up a 1 or 2 mb bios boot partition at the start of /dev/sda, followed by a 256mb partition (/dev/sda2) for /boot, with the rest of the drive given to the partition intended for the encrypted root partition (/dev/sda3).
I use cfdisk to toggle the partition type for /dev/sda3 to 8e (Linux LVM).
Run the following commands, with credits to Aptosid: Installing to a Cryptroot:
    pvcreate /dev/sda3
    vgcreate vg /dev/sda3
lvcreate -n crypt --extents 100%FREE vg
    cryptsetup --verify-passphrase -c aes-xts-plain:sha512 luksFormat /dev/mapper/vg-crypt
    cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/mapper/vg-crypt cryptroot
    pvcreate /dev/mapper/cryptroot
    vgcreate cryptvg /dev/mapper/cryptroot
lvcreate -n swap --size 2g cryptvg
lvcreate -n root --extents 25%FREE cryptvg
lvcreate -n home --extents 100%FREE cryptvg
    /arch/setup
Go through the arch setup as normal. At the bit where you configure hard-drives, you'll find all your encrypted partitions ready waiting to be labelled and formatted. Stop after installing packages.
After installing packages, press CTL-ALT-F2 and log in. Edit /mnt/etc/rc.conf and /mnt/etc/mkinitcpio.conf. CTL-ALT-F1 and reinstall packages. Proceed with the configure step.
Don't install a boot loader; just quit after configuring everything.
Follow the steps here: Grub 2 During Archlinux Installation.
The automatically generated grub.cfg doesn't include things necessary to lvm and luks. Before running grub_bios-install, I edit the grub.cfg to insmod lvm and flag the kernel with cryptdevice=/dev/mapper/vg-crypt:cryptvg-root and rootfstype=ext4 (because that is the encrypted root's filesystem).
At this point, I would expect the system to be bootable, so reboot.
Grub2 loads up. I can verify the changes I made to grub.cfg by pressing `e'. So boot and see the messages,
    Loading Linux linux ...
    Loading initial ramdisk ...
A password is required to access the cryptvg-root volume:
    Enter passphrase for /dev/mapper/vg-crypt:
So far so good. I enter my passphrase. The following messages ensue:
    vgscan: unrecognized option '--sysinit'
Error during parsing of command line.
device-mapper: create ioctl failed: Device or resource busy
mount: mounting /dev/mapper/cryptvg-root on /new_root failed: Device or resource busy
ERROR: Failed to mount he real root device.
Bailing out, you are on your own. Good luck.
So I get dumped into the ramfs. That ain't much fun.
Does anyone have some ideas on things to try next? Should I file a bug report?
    Last edited by /dev/zero (2011-10-22 00:28:52)

Not sure what you mean by difficult and buggy to work with... at this low level, if a VM is having issues replicating this sort if thing, it's not a very useful VM. Find one that doesn't suck. I tend to use KVM because it's terminal friendly via emulation of a serial console.
Anyways, I can reproduce your issue and fix it. There's 2 things you'll need to change:
    1) You're naming your unlocked cryptdevice the same thing as your root. That's creating a clash with the name you've given your root logical volume. Since the name isn't really important, just change your cryptdevice declare to "cryptdevice=/dev/mapper/vg-crypt:root"
    2) Since you're doing the xzibit thing and nesting lvm inside of the crypt device (i still think its really bizzare to do this, but it looks like mkinitcpio supports it anyways), you'll need to add the lvm2 hook a second time to HOOKS in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf after the encrypt hook.

  • [SOLVED] When archiso build.sh script, the mount for airootfs.img fail

Solved, you can see the details down in this post https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 6#p1481476. Basically I rebooted.
    VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
As the subject states, when running ./build.sh there is a mount: work/mnt/airootfs: mount failed: Unknown error -1
looking through the script I think the command that is being ran is
    mount /home/pingbuild/archlive/baseline/work/airootfs.img /home/pingbuild/archlive/baseline/work/mnt/airootfs
The mnt/airootfs directory does exist. I guess normally the directory is removed, but I am assuming the scripts stop with the error. Anyway if I run the command by hand I get the same error.
Is the airootfs.img not being created correctly?
Here is a snapshot of the std out. I could not get std err to go to curl/spurgen, so the actual error did not upload. I will paste by hand so you can see where it would have been.

    does this works?
Gives me the same results. Also I tried overwriting the vfat with etx4, same thing. This confused me. I know I have made rootfs before.
Let me step out and set the stage a bit.
This is a question I posted on stackoverflow http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2693 … re-adj-lib One suggestion was archiso. So I started with baseline and was trying to build my 'hello world' iso. Once that is done I will then try port the P.I.N.G scripts to that ISO. Maybe event create it as a package that archiso will then just merged in. Once I get to that point building new iso should be a breeze. Actually, I use the tool as a pxe boot, but until I get the 'hello world' iso working, I can't trust the boot. So I have a script I wrote to build my rootfs once I get the process working and I know it ran once. So I rebooted and all is good.
    FYI here is my script.
    #!/bin/bash
    PINGHOME="/home/Ping"
    AIROOTFS="/home/pingbuild/archlive/baseline/work/airootfs"
    PINGROOTFS="${PINGHOME}/rootfs"
    if [ "$1" == "init" ]
    then
    rm -r ${PINGROOTFS}
    cp -av "${AIROOTFS}/" "${PINGROOTFS}/"
    fi
    rm -r ${PINGROOTFS}/Braums
    cp -av ${PINGHOME}/Braums/ ${PINGROOTFS}/Braums/
    dd if=/dev/zero of=initrd bs=1M count=60
    mkfs -t ext4 -F initrd
    mount -o loop initrd /mnt/PingFS
    #rsync -rpltDzv --delete --progress ${PINGROOTFS}/ /mnt/PingFS/
    umount /mnt/PingFS
Stepping back in..... When I ran my script I was getting the same errors. Ok, this can't be so I rebooted, ran my script, and it worked. I ran the lsmod and the loop was there.
So tried './build.sh' and it is coping work/airootfs/ to work/mnt/airrootfs.
Not sure why or how it got there since my system is rather new (mid nov 2014) but after a reboot, it does look like systemd 217-8 will insert the loop without forcing a modprobe. That is probably why I did not see it in the wiki.
So back to draining the swamp. If the ISO works and I sure it will then I am back to trying to get pxe boot to work, then integrating the P.I.N.G scripts into the new rootfs. But that maybe another post. :-)

  • How large should I make the partition for Windows XP?

I am mainly using it for light gaming, the partition means how much of the hard drive is used for windows and windows-based programs/games it can use, right? What does Windows alone need, and what would you suggest? I have about 100GB total disk space left on my macbook.

This will in part depend on the copy of Windows XP you are using to install. If it is the absolute latest copy you could get it should come with SP3 built in, which will reduce the amount of space necessary. If it is Windows XP SP2 or earlier, you will need significantly more space. I suggest 4.5 - 5 gb just for XP alone, especially in the latter case. After that, find the maximum space that your programs can use on installation, add it all up, and add at least 10% to that. Next, take your amount of physical RAM and add at least that much to your previous total (this accounts for the pagefile). That would be your bare minimum to allow for Windows XP. As long as you don't expect to store significant amounts of data via Windows, that amount can be all you need.

  • TM backup - How large would you set the partition for a 105gb HD?

I'm preparing to upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion and am making a TM backup to a 1TB external harddrive that has 500gb free, using Disk Utility to create a new partition.
The size of the hard drive to backup is 105gb with 22gb remaining. How much should I partition for TM? I was thinking 150gb - is that too generous?
I intend to keep the backup just in case I want to roll back to Snow Leopard in case anything catastrophic happens during the ML upgrade.
    Thanks in advance.

Alternative: partition the disk with 110GB for the backup,
    use DiskUtility to format this partition as MacOSextended(journalled) option: GuidPartitionTable;
download CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper and use that to make a real (bootable) clone onto this partition.
Test it by restarting while holding the Alt(option) key and choose the newly made clone to restart from.
Use this clone to restore when you want to go back.

  • Need to format the partition for Boot Camping to NTFS.  How do I do this?

So yes, I have searched online to find a way to format the partitioned to NTFS so I can Boot Camp my Mac Mini and have found nothing that I can use.  Instead, all I have found are horror stories of others messing up their Macs when doing this.  I want to be sure I do this as correctly as possible because I do adore my computer.
For Boot Camping, I have followed the steps and started the installation of Windows 7 but when it comes to choosing the partition it says I can't because it's not in NTFS format.  Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Heh! Yes, it's one of those things that are simple, once you know where to look. Glad you got it figured out.
You won't quite be done once Win 7 is done installing. You'll notice that the graphics in Windows likely won't be very good, and in general running kind of slow. That's because the Windows DVD had no drivers for Mac hardware.
So you need your Snow Leopard disk. Either the first gray disk your Mac came with, it if shipped with Snow Leopard, or the retail disk you purchased.
From the Windows 7 desktop, put the Snow Leopard disk in the drive. Windows will pop up the usual message about what you want to do with an external drive. Choose "Run Setup". It will run for a while as the drivers for your Mac hardware are installed for Win 7.
Once that's done, you'll have menu icon for Apple Software Update. Run that to see if it needs to download and install any other Boot Camp updates, which would any updated Win 7 drivers for you Mac.

  • Expanding the partition for windows

I never thought I would use the Windows program that much...  Now I have run out of space -- can I expand the partition without having to re instal?
    Thanks

go to disk utility, check the hard drive, select the top of hd icon, check partition.
easiest way is to check the windows partition bottom bar, and drag it down to give more space.
if the partition already fully expanded, then its simple.
drag up bottom of the mac partition. i believe you need to erase windows partition and then made a new partition and fresh re-install.

  • The larger the partition for windows, the slower it will run?

    Hello Everyone,
Someone has told me this was the case, The larger you put your partition for windows, your computer or windows will run slower. Is this really the case? i was planning to make windows 500GBs and Mac 500GBs, will this cause any issues?
    Thank You

Yep, even if you put them to 500GB each.
If this were true, 500+GB hard drives wouldn't be very popular. Also, IF there is any connection between HD size and speed, it'd be very very hard to notice. Generally, at least in the past, HD's with more storage feature slower drive speeds, so this is potentially where this untrue statement came from, however, I do believe that is a thing of the past and Windows will run fine on your 500GB partition, without any noticable speed difference from a smaller sized partition. The drive still spins at the same speed, regardless of partition size.

  • [solved] gnome-keyring won't save the passphrase for ssh-keys

    Hello,
I'm trying to use the gnome-keyring to store the passphrases for my ssh-keys in gnome-terminal.
I started to generate my ssh-keys as described in this article.
After that I transfered the key via "ssh-copy-id" to my other computer.
Then I connected to that computer via nautilus and stored the passphrase. Now it is no problem to connect without typing in the passphrase again.
When I try to connect to that computer via a gnome-terminal ssh asks every time for the passphrase.
I tried a lot of things, but I can't solve this issue.
Does anybody got an idea how to tell the gnome-keyring that it should store the passphrase for connections via terminals?
Any help is appreciated Maybe I just don't see the solution, but I'm still new to ssh.
    Thanks in advance!
    David

    Hi alexcriss,
I tried to open the terminal from the application menu, but it didn't help.
I searched the forum for "GDM keyring" and I found a few topics dealing with similar problems, but I couldn't find a solution.
I have forgotten to tell, that when I enter
    ssh-add -L
    it returns
    The agent has no identities.
    Typing
    ssh-add ~/.ssh/id_ecdsa
    returns:
    Enter passphrase for /home/david/.ssh/id_ecdsa:
Error reading response length from authentication socket.
    Could not add identity: /home/david/.ssh/id_ecdsa
Maybe this helps to find the error.
    Thanks again,
    David
