[solved] Libvirt "No accelerator found!" but aqemu and qemu-kvm works.

After the latest update to libvirt I have been getting a weird error message when I try to run or install a new VM on multiple machines.

I am able to create and run VMs using qemu-kvm directly and with using aqemu-git without any issues.  I am not sure if the direct cause is with Libvirt or if I am using qemu-kvm-spice from AUR (has not caused an issue before).

I had the same problem, however the fix did not work for me.
Tried replacing kvm user and group with qemu (since it exists), same problem.
Reverted and created a kvm user (which did not exist and qemu-kvm package did not create), then the problem changes to
error: Unable to read from monitor: Connection reset by peer
I do not know if it is relevant but when run as root I get:
# qemu-kvm
Could not initialize SDL(No available video device) - exiting
However as the user of the current login a qemu-kvm starts with no problems.
maybe it indicates a systemd/polkit qxl/SDL driver problem or cgroups problem?
my libvirtd.conf I had set the permissions to polkit but commenting it out to get the defaults changes nothing.
a stab in the dark would predict that since systemd/polkit only allows programmes to run on the login session/seat, it is preventing the kvm/qemu user to run a programme since that user has not logged in?
so I changed the user and group in qemu.conf again but this time to root then the following error :
connecting to monitor: chardev: opening backend "pty" failed
changing it to the current session/seat login username and group:
success
On the other hand maybe it is as result of a messed up passwd or groups file causing polkit not to work correctly?
UPDATE: the problem also goes away when I remove a SDL display and then use the trusty old(archaic) VNC. so as I said, my guess is the qxl framebuffer and/or SDL is not being granted permission to use the display by polkit or PAM or systemd or whatever is supposed to be granting it permission.  it can probably be fixed with a rule....

no signal bars but carrier and 3g data works iphone 4s ios 6.1.3 can anyone help plz does this mean its blocked

    Hey ajsmith002,
I would follow these troubleshooting steps to see if that resolves the issue:
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings, turn airplane mode on, wait three seconds, and then turn off again.
    Restart your iPhone.
Ensure that your software is up to date:
Check for a Carrier Settings Update. Tap Settings > General > About.
Check for an iOS Software Update. Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try toggling it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still does not, contact your carrier to report the issue.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Restore the iPhone as new.
    Contact your carrier to:
Verify that the iPhone is properly set up on the account with the appropriate, current data plan.
Verify that there are no account-related blocks.
Find out if there are specific error messages in the carrier logs that could help determine why the issue is occurring.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, contact your carrier, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.

  • [SOLVED] Module efivars not found but /sys/firmware/efi/efivars avail.

    Hi all,
I'm installing Arch Linux on a new laptop (Dell Precision M6800) but cannot get UEFI to work.
Outside arch-chroot, when I type "modprobe efivars" I get the "Module efivars not found". Which indicates that I didn't boot using UEFI.
But, I booted using it (in my bios I selected my USB drive under the UEFI section and not the BIOS one), and more importantly, I have a fully populated /sys/firmware/efi/efivars folder with non empty files in it. So as I read on some forum, this means I booted using UEFI. So why can't I load the efivars module then? What am I missing? What can I do to debug more?
I have used the 201311 dual iso image and just dd'ed it on my USB drive, I did not follow the instructions from https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/UE … B_from_ISO because I read them afterwards, but this will be my next step if you tell me this is the reason why UEFI does not work (although I have recently installed an UEFI Arch Linux on a UX31A without doing it so I guess these instructions are outdated).
    Thanks for your help,
    Olivier

  • Outlook 2010 and 2013 are unable to connect but OWA (and mail routing) works fine

    Hi-
Not sure why but this past Sunday (just after DST adjustment) outlook clients (using 2010 and 2013) were unable to connect to an Exchange 2013 server.  OWA and mail routing (internal and external) is working fine.  I've even tried on multiple machines
and all of them experience the same issue.  On a new machine with a fresh version of outlook 2013 installed here is what happens:
    Click on Outlook 2013
Click Next until the account setup is displayed.
    Name and email is auto-populated
    Established network connection is good
Searching for email address settings is good (once the self-signed exchange 2013 cert is accepted)
And then the logging onto the mail server fails.  The first pop-up is:
The Connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
Clicking "OK" is followed up with a window with the Microsoft Exchange connection info.
It lists Microsoft Exchange server which is populated with: GUID@<domain suffix>
Mailbox which is populated with: =SMTP:<Valid Email address>
On the Exchange Server I have noticed that the Web Management Service (WMSVC) is stopped and will not start.  Starting the service outputs:
    EventID 7024
"The Web Management Service terminated with the following service-specific error:  Unspecified error"
    Not really helpful :)
Since this is only happening with Outlook on multiple clients I'm expecting something with Exchange or the ability for outlook to connect to exchange.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi
I know this is an old post, but I'm having a very similar issue. I have CU6 installed and all other client connectivity apart from internal Outlook connectivity is working fine. I have distributed the new Self-Signed Certificate and the tested to verify
the clients trust it. I have tried on multiple machine with multiple accounts and none of them connect.
    I'm at the stage of reinstalling, but I would rather troubleshoot the problem, just in case ever hit the same wall in the future. I have run Test-OutlookConnectivity with the following output;

  • AEBS has green light but email and internet not working

I have an AEBS (second hand) connected to my cable modem. I used an ethernet cable and manual settings to set up as Utility wouldn't detect the AEBS wirelessly to start off with. Under internet settings in Utility I have selected Connect Using Ethernet and Configure IPv4 Manually and entered all the same settings I have in the MacBook for my modem. The AEBS light went green, Utility says setup was successful and the MacBook recognised the new network and connected to it, so I have all the bars black on the Airport icon on my top menu bar, and also the network showing with a green light in system preferences. But email and internet still won't go - just spinning wheels and exclamation marks! They're fine when I connect the modem direct to the MacBook so it's not a modem fault. I have tried restarting modem, MacBook and AEBS to no avail. Any advice most gratefully received, I'm very much a novice a this!

I know that you have already attempted to restart the various pieces of networking equipment, but please try the following complete power recycle steps to see if this gets the AEBS to be able to communicate properly with the modem.
When changing ISPs (or networking equipment) it's always a good idea to start from "scratch" in configuring your equipment.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
Power-up the base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, computers connected to the base station, either by wire or wireless (as appropriate for the base station type), should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options.

  • [Solved] grub2: file not found but booting fine

I just ran grub-mkconfig to update my grub.cfg because I installed E4rat. But now I have a problem: Every entry in grub2 can be booted and E4rat really boosted my boot process so actually everything is fine. But while grub2 is loading it says something like:
    Grub 2 is loading...
    Welcome to Grub 2!
    error: file not found.
    error: file not found.
    error: file not found.
Now grub shows up and everything is as it should be. When I select Arch it again says "error: file not found." three times and continues with a normal boot process. So basically it's nothing that would brake my system but something seems not right and that's just a huge annoyance.
Here's my grub.cfg just in case:

I have the same error message as in the first post.  "error: file not found" listed three times when I first choose Arch from the Grub2 menu.  The solution linked to by the.ridikulus.rat would not seem to apply as I do not have the locales en* in /boot/grub/locale  BTW, I am in the US.  The system does boot though.
I just fixed this a few seconds ago and was going to post how, basically I just did "cp /boot/grub/locale/[email protected] /boot/grub/locale/en_US.mo" which seem to do the trick, the reason I didn't fix this sooner is the error only stays up for a very small fraction of a second making it hard to read.
    # ls /boot/grub/locale
    ast.mo da.mo fi.mo hu.mo it.mo nl.mo ru.mo uk.mo zh_CN.mo
    ca.mo de.mo fr.mo id.mo ko.mo pl.mo sv.mo vi.mo
EDIT:  I get the same three "error: file not found" messages when I boot Fedora (a multiboot system).  This is with grub2 installed from Arch Linux.

    Solve it!
Looks like my /etc/lirc/lircd.conf was wrong.
The irrecord is generating a wrong config with my hp rc-6 remote.
I was able to fix it with this post

  • I have no sound when playing music but ringtones and speak phone works!

I have an iPhone 4s and all of a sudden I cannot hear any sound when playing music or watching tv etc via my phone but I can hear my ringtone and text etc and I can also hear calls if I place them on speakerphone!
I have performed a hard reset and also plugged my phone into iTunes but this still hasn't solved the problem.
Unfortunately my phone has a cracked screen....totally unrelated to the sound problem as everything was working fine after I dropped the phone, however, as I have been informed, this has now invalidated the warranty from apple, even though I am not asking them to fix the screen, just the speaker, therefor I am not entitled to a new phone from apple! Anyway.....if anyone out there can help me in anyway, or can suggest anything that I can try to fix this problem, please, please let me know.
    Many thanks in advance.

My headphones work by the way.
Also, when I try to increase, or decrease the volume when playing music or trying to listen to something....even my videos, the buttons on the side do not adjust the volume or attempt to adjust it. I have gone into settings and sound and made sure my phone is not on mute and made sure the setting is checked so that the buttons on the side control the volume! I just don't know what to do!

My WiFi is connected to my iphone 5s but if I will open the appstore, itunes etc they say 'cannot connect to app store'. And if I open Safari, there is no 'server'. I restart my iphone but nothing changes. Please help me. Thank You. (Excuse me for my bad English)

You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPhone a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the "i" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Do not reset your router. Next, reset network settings on your iPhone (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.
