[SOLVED] Moving mountpoints post-install

Question

Currently I have the following setup:
sda3 /
sda6 /home
With /home/user obviously on sda6. What I would like to do is make user's home the whole of sda6 (i.e. map /home/user to sda6), and have root's home directory /home on sda3. Is this possible to do without reinstalling? I can't see how to move /home onto sda3. Obviously then I would have to move some config files around but that should be straightforward.

That sounds like "neatness overkill" to me but, of course you can do what you want with your computer.
Changing fstab will change where the partition is mounted, but not what's in it. It'll go from this:
(sda3) /home -> (sda6) /user/
to this:
(sda3) /home/user -> (sda6) /user/
So I guess you'll have to move everything that's in "(sda6) /user" up into "(sda6) /".
You may have to create the "user" directory on sda3 yourself.
...but please keep in mind that I have never done this before myself. But even if something gets messed up, you'll be able to login as root and change things back.
