[SOLVED]Nautilus 3 seg. faults while generating previews for some SVGs

Hi,
Nautilus just started to crash if I access a directory with SVGs in it, it generates the previews for some of them, then it crashes. In terminal it just gives: Segmentation Fault.

Stuck on generating previews for 13 files

No matter what I do aperture is stuck on generating previews for 13 files. Canceling the task does not help. In fact after canceling I have to force quit aperture. And when I start it up again the same 13 files are being updated, but as usual the 13 files do not count down to zero but stay stuck on 13. I have no idea on how to find these 13 files that are supposedly being updated.
Does anyone have any ideas. If these are corrupt files that aperture is stuck on is there any way I can find the culprit or do I have to rebuild something??? Any advice would be much appreciated.

in the Projects pane select Recent Projects it should be in that Projects list. If the thumbnails are grayed out you might think about Rebuilding the Library, hold down the "apple and option" keys when opening Aperture

[solved] fontforge seg faults on failure to find font

I'm having what I suspect is a fairly standard problem but I've been unable to track it down using google, a forum search or the wiki.
Basically, fontforge seg faults on start. More specifically, it displays the dialog which allows me to select the font I want to open and then crashes. Starting the application from the command line produces this:

Segmentation fault (core dumped)
I've tried fc-cache both with and without -f as both root and me. I've also tried moving ~/.fontconfig and ~/.config/fontconfig to backups and creating empty directories in their places. I've also recreated every fonts.dir and fonts.scale which locate can find on my system. I've also grepped "adobe-courier" in all of these files, all copies of fonts.alias found by locate and through /var/cache/fontconfig/* and not found any trace. I've examined (as best I can but this is not saying very much) the font config under /etc/fonts/.
The only even vaguely relevant information I've found references a fedora/red hat bug from two or three years ago and those bugs were marked as solved by updates and closed in fedora 10/11. (Fedora is currently at 17.) Moreover, the problems there were traced to fonts.{dir,scale} not being updated and I've recreated all of these files as found by locate so they should all be current.
I'm sure I'm missing the stunningly obvious. Can anybody tell me where this reference might be coming from? Or otherwise suggest what I'm missing?
I haven't needed fontforge for a while so I don't know when it ceased to work and this is not helping with troubleshooting.

The error may be caused by a bad entry in a fonts.dir file in one of your font directories. This file is used by an older method than fontconfig to index fonts for apps in X.
I would use 'locate' to find all files named fonts.dir. (There is probably a better way to find these files than 'locate'). When the files are found, 'grep' can be used to find the one with the bad entry. The following line of combined commands should work:
$ for file in $(locate fonts.dir); do grep -l 'adobe-courier std' $file; done
Then navigate to that file's directory and run:
$ mkfontscale
$ mkfontdir
Finally, as root, run
# xset fp rehash

Getting Error of Runtime Exceeded while generating OTF for PDF in smartform.

I am getting a error of runtime exceeded while generating OTF file for PDF in smartform through FM. The report is taking too much time before giving the output...and most of the time going to dump saying report has exceeded the runtime. All is working well till the Smartform FM reached. I debugged this FM and found that the TABLES parameter is having problem, may be there are too many tables in that parameter.Please help. Below is the code-

Yes as Eltan says you need to consider there are two blocks of abap program:
- the first one is the driver program (but it seems there's no problem here because it called the smartform quickly)
- the second one is inside the smartform (It's possible to write abap routine in the smartform), and it seems the problem could be here
The variable c_form_name has the name of the smartform, you can manage it by transaction SMARTFORMS
but now it's not possible to say you why the print takes too long time, you need to do a trace

How i need to write a logic to generate idoc for some of infotypes, when i change the single infotype

Hi experts,
I have an requirement , when I change any infotype record from pa30 or pa40, i.e
suppose I am changing the infotype 0002 in pa30 , the idoc only generated for that changed infotype only,
but I need it to generate the idoc for some other infotypes also I.e(0000,0002,t528t, 0016).
So please give me some help to generate idoc when I run a rbdmidoc(bd21).

yes, visible bounds is reading the non-visible masked objects too.
you're going to have to do it the hard way, loop through all your objects to get your bounds manually, and while you're at it, test for clipping masks and use the masking path instead.

How can we stop generating spools for some batch jobs?

HI guys,
Is memory will be occupied in SAP during spool generation from batch jobs ?
If yes, to reduce occupied memory, we want to stop generating spools for few batch jobs. Please suggest me the way how we can acheive this.(Step details)

Stopping the spool generation for background jobs will not help you to reduce the memory load.
First check what is the total memory utilization and type of processes where the memory is being utilized more.
EWA can give you better idea to get the above details.
Spooling concept doesn't eat that much of memory what you are expecting.

I'd rather see the application icon for some files than see every file have a preview in the finder.

(SOLVED) No system sounds, and no sound for some applications

For some reason, system sounds stopped working (like when one takes a screenshot). aplay plays sounds (I mean, no errors whatsoever), but I can hear nothing. Listening from mplayer or vlc still works as normal.
When I 'aplay sound.wav', I see the leds going up and down on pavucontrol, but I hear nothing.
I run openbox and I don't start gnome-settings-daemon with it. It is "pure" openbox.
I checked pavucontrol settings, and also alsamixer but couldn't find anything that could solve the problem. I use pulse-audio, and have pulseaudio-alsa and alsa-utils installed.

Yeah, I can guarantee that I didn't touch alsamixer myself. I didn't even know the F6 option (although, today I realized it is there very well visible). Anyway, I guess an update might have changed something... I saw other people with similar problems in #archlinux this morning.

IOS4 mail client only showing 2-line preview for some emails

The only account tied into my iPhone 4 right now is my Gmail account. I was able to set it up quickly and it's been mostly trouble-free.
However, I noticed that even though I have "Preview" set to "2 lines", it is not showing the preview for every email. Some emails, in the inbox view, properly show the sender, subject, and the first 2 lines of the message. Others only show the sender and subject. If I click on the ones that don't show a preview and view them individually, I am able to see the body of the message properly.
This never occurred on my 3G running iOS 3.x. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm having the same exact issue in addition to the no subject emails. If I do a hard reset of the phone it seems to resolve the issue temporarily. My email is coming from gmail via the IMAP server. Any ideas of what seems to be the root cause anyone?

Pbm with document name while generating URL for created document

Hi Gurus, 
 
When we upload a document and generate the URL for that document, and then while we paste the same in the explorer window to access it, I was able to see the dialog asking me whether to save or open the document with the actual document name. 
 
But, when I create a document using the template which we uploaded in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN, and then generate the URL for that document, and then when I paste it in the explorer window to access it, the dialog now asks me to save or open the document, but it is not with the name of the actual document, but with the name of the template. e.g Business_Blueprint_template. 
 
Can anyone say why such a problem? and how to solve it.

[Solved] Vlc seg faults after latest upgrade

When updating vlc I now get this message from pacman

I've tried manually running vlc-cache-gen as well, but I get the same output as above. Downgrading vlc also resulted in the same error. I am using the nvidia closed source driver if that makes a difference. Any one have any ideas on whats going on here?

What he did was restore a system backup from a few days ago, then first a `pacman -Sy` to update the package list and after that a single `pacman -S vlc` so that only vlc gets updated, and then finally the system upgrade `pacman -Su`. Seems like that worked for him.
Unfortunately I'm having the same problem and don't have the option to restore a recent system backup.

Why does Adobe Illustrator take so long to generate previews for glows?

I was trying out the option accessed via effects tab > stylize > outer glow on one of the images (made out of a combination of filled pen tool shapes) on my vector layer.
This same image had previously been selected and had the 'object > live paint > make' option applied to it so that I could shade inside it.
Anyway, when I applied the glow and opted for 'preview', every time I slid the bar on any of the three options offered it would take at least half a minute to generate the glow preview.
Basically, a new window would come out with a loading bar (titled 'Gaussian Blur') and the loading bar would load over and over, eventually generating the desired preview, but it would take a sizeable amount of time.
Why is this happening only in illustrator? Photoshop has a similar function, but the previews there load much faster (in the fraction of a second, can be said to be immediate, and there isn't even enough time for a loading bar to show up!) Is there any way to prevent these slow preview loading times in illustrator?

I am afraid the answer is: Upgrade to Illustrator CS6.
Gaussian blurs are much faster.

OWB Error while generating Code for a mapping

I have a simple mapping loading from a source to a flat file. When I try to generate code it gives me the following Error
VLD-2357: Target Data File name not specified for file <target Flat file name>.
I am new to OWB so any help on the same will be greatly appreciated. How can I specify target Data File name in the mapping configuration under Flat file operators

If you configure the mapping in the UI from the main design tree and select the name of your file operator under the tree node 'Flat File Operators' on the right hand side panel the properties should be displayed - one of these properties is 'Target Data File Name', enter the name of your target data file name.
