[SOLVED]pacman files missing ?

Dear archlinux community,
i decided to give arch a try as my linux server os, however i've run into the following issue when attempting to install samba:

it seems like some files are dead and need replacing, in the mean while how should i go around the issue?

[SOLVED]Pacman systemd missing file

Everytime when I run pacman I get this error:
error: could not open file /var/lib/pacman/local/systemd-217-8/desc: No such file or directory
I think i messed up something when upgrading system.
Can you help me to solve this issue?

Just reinstall systemd:
pacman -S systemd
select yes if it prompts due to it already being installed.
You might also want to run `pacman -Qk` to see if any other packages have been damaged.
EDIT: I just did some silly trial and error and deleted that file from my system (probably would have been smarter to move/rename it). Reinstalling systemd failed due to a conflicting file error as all the files for the package are there, but the pacman database doesn't realize they belong to that package. In this case I used --force with the single specific package:
pacman -S --force systemd
Note that this use of --force is an apparent necessity to fix this specific problem. This does not support using it when uncertain why something fails - I knew why it was failing.

[Solved]Pacman file delay

Just reinstalled arch onto my main machine and I noticed that, before I had -Syu'd back up to bleeding-edge my pacman was working flawlessly. After an -Syu there is a very noticeable delay (~7sec) between every file transfer. I also noticed this delay BEFORE reinstalling arch on my old configuration. I'm not entirely sure where the difference may come from,
I don't remember pacman being one of the packages being updated in the -Syu.

It might be. What I can't understand though is what is changing between the 2009.02 core iso fresh install and the immediately after -Syu? How would I go about 'fixing' (or at least learning about) a possible DNS problem? I'm sure to keep my /etc/hosts and /etc/rc.conf entries related to hostname in sync and proper but I'm not 100% positive if that's related to DNS.
@Xyne: I was planning on installing powerpill sometime soon, i just wanted to solve this problem first so that powerpill would be at optimum performance.
Edit: !!!! i installed and configured dnsmasq and WOW. Problem solved (at least on my other computer). I'll try it on my main one sometime soon. Thanks for the tip off!

Help files missing after upgrade to Lightroom 3

Dowloaded the upgrade, installed it, reinstalled it... help files missing... message is .. Cannot display help..
Use Lightroom 3 on Win 7 professional at 64bit...

Solved problem by finding a folder in CS5 Photoshop set up files.. under the folder payloads.. and installing setup file for Adobe Help from there.. also installed updates from Adobes website for Media Player and Air...

Flashresource file missing. Mac flash pro cs5. I have reinstalled 3 times, same message each time

Hey guys, can't find help anywhere so I am asking here. I work for a small tv station who recently purchased Flash Professional to learn. They want me to learn it and create some animation for bumpers yadda yadda. Anyways here's the problem. Every time I install it it seems fine and works for a couple of days. Suddenly one day it won't open and all it says in the message is "flashresource file missing. please reinstall flash " So I say uh oh and reinstall. Works great so I think ok problem solved. Then a couple of days later it does it again. I have gone through this 5 times, each time reinstalling works for a few days or week then blammo suddenly "flashresourcefile is missing. please reinstall flash" I am completely stumped. After effects, premiere pro, soundbooth, all work great. Flash professiional is the only one doing this. HELP!!

Hi there, do you happen to have CleanMyMac installed on your machine? I had same issue with my Flash CS5, problem was CleanMyMac was cleaning few extra things that require for flash to run.

Pacman & the missing mkinitcpio hook

Hi all,
A pretty general question, but do people find files missing that should have been installed?
I had just upgraded the current testing versions of mkinitcpio (0.4.2-1) and cryptsetup (1.0.3-2). One of the main differences in the upgrade is the movement of the mkinitcpio encrypt hook from the mkinitcpio package to the cryptsetup package. But the outcome of the upgrade left me without a encrypt hook, and I was left wondering where the encrypt hook had disappeared to...in some way a concern of dtw in this thread [split] fbsplash & mkinitcpio became concrete. I had read that thread a month ago, it wasn't upmost in my mind when trying to figure out where the encrypt hook had gone- remember that the most recent testing cryptsetup claimed it was installed, I was going to start on a thread on the missing hook.
So, anyway, if I upgraded mkinitcpio and cryptsetup during the same pacman session could things be loused up? I don't recall doing a force, but was it all down to operator error?

brain0: I did reinstall cryptsetup once I realised that's where the encrypt hook is now, so that's fine. It was a comment by you in the new initramfs, testers welcome thread that helped- I didn't see any note when installing mkinitcpio 0.4.2-1.
I'm not saying it was because of the move of the hook from one package to another, just that I spent some time wondering what had gone wrong in the packaging of the 0.4.2 version of mkinitcpio (when nothing actually had)- more a cognitive issue than technical!
Nope, no XFS here! Thanks for the bug report link, I was in the dark about that past pacman bug, and I'll look out for anything more.

Palm development - file missing

The documentation on Palm development using OKAPI in Oracle 9i lite says that a lib file okapi.lib should be inclded. But the lib folder in MDK does not have any okapi.lib...instead has okapi1.lib and okapi2.lib. But the project does not compile. Please help...is this file missing or is it present somewhere else?

Just one file missing need really help

hay every body :
my laptop is hp pavilion dv6 3223cl ,and i delete the recovery parition and there is no way to get it back ,when i used the recovery dvds to recovery the factory setting i discover that dvd number 5 there is one file missing called base97.0 i will be very glade if anyone uploaded to me

Officejet 4635 "operating system files missing"

I've installed the driver software for the officejet 4635 for windows 8 64 bit, but in setting the printer up it gives me the following error message:
"Operating system files missing
The following operating system files are missing and are required to install your printer. Please repair the files using your operating system CD and click Retry to continue installation:
C:\Windows\inf\ntprint.inf"
I've tried reinstalling the software. The computer seems to recognize the device as a fax, but not as a scanner or printer. Anyone wanna help me out?

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.

You will, because the credited funds are on your iTunes account, not the application. When you reinstall iTunes just configure it with your old iTunes account and your credits will be there waiting for you.

I did have the setting Effective date, what cause the problem?

Have a look at following post and run the sql in this post to see if your template definition is missing.

You could also run Application Engine PSXPCLEAN to clean orphan rows.
Are you running the report online or through PeopleCode?
In last case make sure the effdt is set correct in PeopleCode.
Also have a look if your server time settings are correct.

Try rebuilding your iTunes Library:
(This will cause all devices to see your library as a "new" library)
1. Open iTunes.
2. File>LIbrary>Organize Library: Consolidate Files.
-This process may take some time.
3. Quit iTunes.
4. Browse to your iTunes Folder.
5. Drag the files to the desktop, but leave the folders in place (folders will be iTunes Media, Album Artwork, Previous iTunes Libraries)
6. Open iTunes.
7. File>Library>Import Playlist.
8. Direct iTunes to import the "iTunes Library.xml" that is sitting on your desktop.
9. Once the process is complete attempt to resync your iPod.
