[SOLVED] Pacman: slow sync with dlink dsl-2740b

Hi guys,
I've a very strange problem.
My pacman very slow when sync database with this router: dlink dsl-2740b.
That's not a pacman issue, but I hope you can tell me some option that I should modify into my router settings.
I'm using pacman 3.5.1 and I can't upgrade it.
I'm experiencing another issue: akregator slow fetch... only it, thunderbird fetch normally.
I hope this could help.
Obviously I've already tryed to change mirror in mirrorlist.

  • Nokia E75 slow sync with MFE

    Hello
Just got my new E75 a couple of days ago. My old HTC S740 was beginning to have problems with the buttons.
But i use the E75 for work, and i sync with my companys exchange server. But this sync is very slow. Wenn i recieve an email it will take up to 10 min before the phone finds out. It is the same if i delete an email on the phone. My sync setting are continusely sync.
In my old HTC it only took a couple of seconds:-)
I dont sync at night but i start at 06.00 and if recieve an email at nigth it will take hours before the phone finds out.
Any advice or help is much apriciatet.

  • Is there a connection b/t the 3.0 launch and slow syncing with iTunes??

Not sure if since the launch of 3.0 that there is a relation between slow syncs and traffic on Apple's servers? I know that I'm syncing with my own computer when I do a manual sync, but just curious.
Otherwise, is anyone else having problems with painfully slow syncs after 3.0 has been installed?

I am experiencing this as well, and I am currently in the process of un-synchronizing my apps then adding them back in a few at a time. However, I also think my slower-than-usual sync might be as a result of the new option in iTunes to, "Encrypt iPhone Backup," which I selected right after I updated the software.
The reason I think it's the backup encryption is because after I updated to 3.0, the phone rebooted, etc., I was perusing the new options in iTunes, and I saw the option to encrypt. I checked the box, created a password at the prompt, and it started backing up the iPhone again.
This time, it was sloooooow! It barely showed a hint of shading in the status bar after a minute, and I decided to cancel the sync. But I never unchecked the "Encrypt iPhone Backup" option (I forgot to). So perhaps if any of you have that option selected, it could also be the culprit or at least part of the problem.
Though I'm no fan of Windoze, take heart, PC users: I'm on a MacBook Pro, and this is happening to me, too.

  • ITunes 10.5 very slow syncing with idevices not a backup issue

I have the latest itunes 10.5.2 installed on my 32 bit Windows 7 pc.  Ever since i upgraded my ipod 4 and iphone 4 to ios 5 it syncs very slowly with itunes (1 song aka 5 mb every 2 min and takes like 7 min to start syncing). i have tried restoring my phone and ipod with a new profile, making my ipod or iphone backup to icloud so that kills the long backup issue, reinstallled windows and just have itunes, reinstall itunes and wipeout the appledrivers then reinstall.  The devices sync fine when i use a mac that isnt mine. i also have tried outher windows pcs with no luck. im out of ideas and im tired of wating 4 hrs just for a audiobook or a movie to sync.

Yeah seriously, I have my first gen iPhone and never had a issue with it. Blackberry always had a horrible desktop manager for the PC for YEARS and I always had to debug the issues myself for clients. Unfortunately for a lot of my clients the Blackberry is a better device for business, just horrible desktop software.
Eventually I'll push my client to move over to hosted exchange server, But for right now before making that push, I need to resolve this issue with the Blackberry sync. I would hate for all the work and conversion over to the Mac to be wasted over a simple issue that possibly can be resolved by a simple setting I'm over looking.
It's also a possibility the extremely slow syncing can be caused by years of unorganized entering of contacts, but trying to sort out over 2000 contacts would be near impossible for a person with a busy schedule.

  • [SOLVED] Pacman Dependency error with nouveau-dri and libgl

I am upgrading my system with
    sudo pacman -Syu
The out put is as follows:
    :: Synchronizing package databases...
    testing is up to date
    core is up to date
    extra is up to date
    community is up to date
    :: Starting full system upgrade...
    resolving dependencies...
    looking for inter-conflicts...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
    :: nouveau-dri: requires libgl=7.10.1
It seems that the newest libgl is 7.10.2-1, while the newest nouveau-dri(7.10.1-2) requires 7.10.1-1. An upgrade operation will upgrade the libgl from 7.10.1-1 to 7.10.2-1, which result in a conflict with nouveau-dri.
Is there any workaround? Do I have to wait for the nouveau-dri update?
    THANKS!

    Thanks @ngoonee !
It turns out that this is because the mirror (mirrors.163.com/archlinux) I am using is broken. It is holding <libgl 7.10.2-1> without <nouveau-dri 7.10.1-2> and simultaneously. I changed to http://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/ and the problem solves.
You're welcome. The mirror is/was probably just affected by a partial sync (the letter l is earlier than n ).
    Yeah, that's a quite reasonable explaination :-)

  • [Solved] pacman -Syyu sync's repository and then repoistory.db

For instance I run 'pacman -Syyu' and it will then sync core, core.db, extra, etra.db and so on a so forth for all the repo's in my pacman.conf. It did not sync the .db on my last install which was up to date unitl I just did a fresh install using the archboot iso. I looked through the pacman.conf a few times and did not see anything obvious wrong to me. <-- not saying much
I searched this section of the forum going back about 2 months figuring it has to do with signatures and found nothing. So i believe it means that either a) my last setup was incorrect. b) My searching skills are lacking.
If this is normal that is fine, it doesn't bother me, was just curous about it.
    Cheers.

What is this gnutils? I tried to set up gnome-utils, but that did not help. The same error also appears on my second comnputer.

I just upgraded it from KDE itself via konsole. The only bad effect I experienced was that the quick launch icons next to the K - menu icon disappeared. I already had upgraded kde to 3.4 and the latest upgrade was to 4.3.1 and did not follow wiki guidelines - except on the other computer. On that the icons stayed - just as described in the wiki.
But about the problem itself: it seems odd to me that all the different repos that are hosting current are not in sync. Arch original repo is a bit slower for me than ftp.nluug.nl.

  • Slow synce with 10.5

I have the 10.5 of itunes
and when i am doing synce to any kind of apple device
    the synce is very slow.
More than that when i tried to transfer purchased app to my computer it dosent transfer.
and sometimes the itunes cause my computer to frize or stuck.
It never happend with the last version so it dosent my computer.
    please fix it

Yup, this is a well known problem to the discussion groups, but apple continues to deny it exists. The discussion boards are littered with different permutations of this same problem. Interestingly, it doesn't seem to matter which mac you have, as it is affecting MBP, Macbook, and Air. Booting into windows makes it disappear, which makes me believe it is likely due to 10.5.2
I went to the apple store and (eventually) got a new Macbook, and I did not 'upgrade' to 10.5.2

  • NOT SOLVED - Unable to sync with Ovi at all.

Update Edit : after the sync completed, Ovi came back with 'No Contacts Updated'.....Restart Nokia Ovi Suite.  Error code 83860036.  For a minute there, I thought it was sorted, but no.
After a right runaround, with advice from Nokia support to uninstall, reinstall, do the same again, then uninstall and use the nokia cleanup utility, then re-install....etc ....etc.
    None of that worked.
But I did download and run ccleaner because of another problem on my pc, and used the registry clean up utility (backing up the registry first).  it found about 1400 errors.
Now, when I connect my phone to the pc with usb, Ovi magically starts up and syncs automatically ;-))
So maybe after all it's not a Nokia problem, at least in my case, it looks like it was a registry problem.
I in know way recommend messing with your registry - all I can say is that it seemed to work in my case.
    What I did:
    Downloaded Ccleaner
Installed, clicked on the registry tool
Backed up registry (it prompts you to do this when you start to clean)
Cleaned every registry problem (it does it in one go if you want)
    Restarted my pc.
Opened about 35 of the most common programs I use for work to check they still worked okay.
I didn't even think about Ovi at the time, it was only a day or two later when I thought I'd better try to sync the phone and pc again.
If I open Ovi first, then connect my phone, Ovi still does not work for me when I try to manually sync from the toolbar. Outlook was open at the time.
But before I reinstalled *again* I just connected the phone with Ovi and Outlook shut down, and voila.
Hope this helps someone out there.

  • Pocket Mac Slow Sync with Entourage 2004

It takes as much as 2 hours to sync my contacts, calendar, and tasks from Entourage 2004 to my Blackberry Cuve 8330.
Does anyone have a solution or suggestion? I appreciate your assistance.

As per the reply to your other post with the same question:
This is not something to worry about or be concerned with. Firstly, the paging counts will depend on how long the system has been running since the last boot, but MacOS is designed to actively page out and in, so in itself, the fact your system shows it is doing so means nothing at all.
If your computer is exhibiting some indication of a problem, I suggest you start a new thread here and describe what you are experiencing. That way we can help you directly with the specifics of your problem. On the other hand, if you have just seen the comments regarding paging and system performance and have checked your own Mac to see what it's doing - the answer is that in the absence of an indication of a problem, it's very likely doing exactly what it ought to be doing!

  • Apple TV song streaming interrupted, very slow sync with keynote

When I try to play a song or a playlist from iphone (4S and 5)  or ipad (mini) via Airplay on Apple Tv, the music is interrupted several times, sometimes the first track, sometimes after 3 track, no rules. Wifi signal is good.
Other issue with Keynote on the iPad. I am trying to mirror a deck but it is very slow, I have to wait 2 to 3 sec between each slide
    can someone help me?
    thank you

Thanks for the reply. I used iStumbler on the MacBook Pro and could see three other networks besides my own, and they were all on Channel 11. Mine is on Channel 6 and, given there's no overlap between channels that are separated by 5 channels or more, there should be no interference.
However, the Apple TV reports more channels than iStumbler does and there's no way to know what channel they're on. (Hmmmm, maybe I should move the Mac to the vicinity of the ATV 2.)
However, my local network is involved when the MacBook Pro connects to the internet - I'm using Wi-Fi, not Ethernet - so, if the MacBook Pro can upload at 1MB/sec. to the internet (and that's throttled), why is it uploading at 50-100KB/sec. to the ATV 2?

  • [SOLVED] pacman -Sy failing with Invalid URL Scheme

I'm getting a comparable pair of lines for each combination of database (core, extra, etc.) and mirror (rankmirrors-generated mirrorlist):
    error: url 'http://mirror.rit.edu/archlinux/core/os … .db.tar.gz' is invalid
debug: returning error 43 from download_internal : Invalid URL scheme
Yesterday I did pacman -Sy followed by pacman -Qu then pacman -Su all successfully.

UPDATE: re-installing pacman's dependencies learned via "pacman -Qi pacman" fixed the problem.

Comment out that mirror and try the next one.

  • Extremely slow sync with AAC conversion on

I noticed that my system doesn't sync quickly at all if I'm using AAC conversion but, if I remember correctly, it should only need to do that conversion one time per song, right? It seems like it's redoing ALL of them each time I sync.

Make sure your iTunes is version 9.1.1.12.
If not, download & reinstall iTunes from here -> http://www.apple.com/itunes/

  • ITunes crashes when syncing with iPad on Windows 7

    Hi there,
I have an iPad 64GB 3G that I sync with iTunes 10.0.1.22 on my Windows 7 machine. Typically no problems but I recently got a download error of a TV show I regularly download directly to my iPad.
For whatever reason the iPad can't download it - it tells me "Download error. Tap to retry." I've had this happen before and solved it by syncing with iTunes and removing the problematic episode via iTunes.
This time, however, when attempting to sync between the iPad and iTunes on connect, iTunes crashes, apparently (and probably not coincidentally) when attempting to sync my latest downloaded TV shows to iTunes.
The exact message in iTunes when this occurs is "Transferring purchases from 'ScottPad' (Step 3 of 6) Copying 1 of 12: The Daily Show 10/13/2010".
Windows then says that iTunes has stopped working, and provides the following problem details:
    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
    Application Name: iTunes.exe
    Application Version: 10.0.1.22
    Application Timestamp: 4c9c64ce
    Fault Module Name: QuickTime.qts
    Fault Module Version: 7.68.75.0
    Fault Module Timestamp: 4c87d299
    Exception Code: c0000005
    Exception Offset: 002ab53e
    OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.48
    Locale ID: 1033
    Additional Information 1: 9e27
    Additional Information 2: 9e2778096e7e1e2a2e0302fe58f3eea8
    Additional Information 3: 9e27
    Additional Information 4: 9e2778096e7e1e2a2e0302fe58f3eea8
I have plenty of space on the iPad (another issue I've run into before where syncing obviously didn't work) and the Windows 7 machine, and now I'm not sure what to do to sort this out because I can't remove the problem episode directly from the iPad (can I?) and iTunes crashes upon initial sync.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Scott.

No, those are not at all the symptoms I was describing and would not have helped solve the problem.
Turned out the latest upgrade of iTunes fixed what must have been a bug. Thanks for offering to help anyways!
