[SOLVED] Paste whole folder permission

Hi all
I have shared a many folders using samba. It works fine.
I have one folder named "backup" so I can paste files on it from a windows computer. From windows I can browse and paste empty folders and files on that shared folder (backup), but if I try to paste a folder which is not empty, for exemplo, a movie folder (folder+ folder/movie.avi+folder/movie.srt) I recieve a permission denied error.
I have tried to give chmod permission to folder but I still have the same issue.
Here is my ls -la output
[janilson@archmalibu ~]$ ls -la | grep Backup
drwxrwxrwx 4 janilson janilson 4096 Jul 20 12:12 Backup
I don't know if samba has something to do with it, but here is the samba folder code

In "/var/log/samba/machine-name.log contains this message:

I have recently started using iCloud on my laptop syncing it with my iPad. When the syncing process starts it stops and gives me a message something like: You do not have permission to sync this folder. Then it wants me to unlock and gives other suggestions. I have done them all and still cannot get the syncing process past this folder. I is a folder in my documents. Anyone have any solutions?

Folder permission macmini server 10.6.8 help

I own and run a small office, and i've just changed from a windows small business server who worked rocksteady, to a new mac mini server 10.6.8, because most of us use mac's.
I hired a macsepsecialist to configure and set up the server for the 6 of us. He has tried to solve our problem for 3 months now, and we still have the same problem.
When one of us creates a new folder og file inside a projectfolder on the server, it should get the same permission as the projectfolder so it is accessible to all of us. This was no problem on the windowsserver. This does not happen on the macminiserver. Only the guy who creates the folder get access. All the rest of us is denied. So far have I used a program called batchmod to fix it, but it takes time everyday to fix it.
In the workgroupmanager its like this :
8 users with UID from 1025 - 1032 belongs to three different groups.
1. "Alle" GID 1026 - user A,B,C,D,E,H
2. office GID 1027 - user A,B,C,D,E,F,H
3.Workgroup 1025 - A,B,C,D,E,F
The path for the folders on the server are : Server HD-Users-admin-my office-projects
The permission in the ServerAdmin to the folder : my office is:
ACL: "Alle" - allow-fullcontrol- this folder,child folders,child files,all descendants
POSIX: " Alle" - allow-read &write-this folder
On my workstation, in "the get info window" for the "my office" folder, the permission is :
If I go down one folder to the projects folder inside the "my office" folder
permission in the Server Adm program :
ACL
POSIX :
admin-allow-read&write-this folder
staff- allow-read&write-this folder
others-allow-read&write-this folder

-unknown - read and write
com.apple.local.ard-reports-read and write
everyone-read and write

Two things.
First, your server appears to be communicating with the client on both en0 & en1 (alternately).
Second, your server appears to be sending INFORM packets, but the clients aren't replying. That's a pattern frequently seen when the client reply is being grabbed by a rouge DHCP server.

Accidentally changed an annotation in my ADE annotations folder to open with PDF, It has changed them all. How can I change them back or is it ok to delete the whole folder

I went into my documents/ ADE and opened the annotations folder. I changed the read with on one to PDF and it has changed them all. How can I change it back. Or is it ok to delete the whole folder. I don't have any annotations I want to save.

Maybe i misunderstand you but i ll try. choose tools from menu and choose general
at general part look bottom there is "save to where"( or likr this) part. I think your files are downloaded there.

Copy - Paste whole screen

Is there any option to copy and paste whole screen with everything in it into same project.

Just use good olc CTRL+A for marking everything, then CTRL+C and CTRL + V :) Cut'n paste... :)

The Tags do not work for me at all. Very difficult to spot what is hot and what is not. Even getting rid of Tag is impossible using CTRL + Clik on the folder as symbol "X" is not listed as an option next to the color dots.
I just can't believe that anybody at Apple could not see this. I hate it snd unfortunatelly apps Like LABELS from Unsanity are gone and away.
(not to mention that you can;t switch to 2D dock)

How to download "whole folder" to JWS cache by JNLP

My scenario is:
I want to download my application jar and third-part software(has its fixed directory structure,iReport 3.6.0, I can't pick up the jar to download) to client, but it seems that JWS doesn't support to download the "whole folder" to client.
I have known how to run the iReport program with my application jar if I can download the "whole folder" for iReport.
What I have tried:
1. Compress the folder into a jar file, download the jar by +<jar href=.....>+. then write some java code to decompress the jar. [I don't want use this way, because decompress the jar in JWS cache is not good]
2. Compress the folder into a jar file, download th jar by +<nativelib+ , It seems the nativelib will be auto-decompressed by JWS, but after my tested, I found only files(.txt and others) were decompressed, but the "folder" were not.
3. Download file to other folder.[Don't use this way, I need JWS to control my updates]
My question is:
1. Is there a way to download "whole folder" to JWS cache by JNLP?
2. Does the nativelib option support "folder" in jar?
3. The JWS renamed the jar, If I just simply de-compress the jar to cache, does it has any affect with JWS?
I searched the forum with key words, if you have any idea for this, pleas give me a response!

I find it very hard to believe that iReport cannot access input by URL or InputStream. If it can, use those and stuff the data into a Jar.

How can I upload multiple files or whole folder structures to the Cloud in one go? Uploading lots of files singularly does not help my workflow.

Hi,
Uploading multiple files is browser specific.
Internet explorer won't allow to select and upload multiple files on the cloud.
If you want to upload multiple files then you have to login to Cretaive cloud using Firefox or Chrome web browser, then you can select multiple files in the Browse window to upload.
You can't upload folders directly.

Random change whole folder to read only

I had a problem renaming some files a few days ago and it turns out the whole folder was set as read only. Seams I have random folders that I are suddenly being set as read only. Not sure if this is LR or not. But I have only ever experienced it since using LR V1.0. So I am assuming some connection.
Any body else?
Any ideas to stop this form happening? It is not a huge deal, but it is very frustrating to have to change the folder properties in the middle of a flow...

Comparing Folder Permission

I use cacls to export the folder permission, and use powershell to compare-object to compare the result.
using compare-object, it will also detect the 'white space'at the beginning of each line.
how to avoid comparing 'white space'??

Would you please share the exact steps to help us reproduce the same behavior? Did you export the folder permission to a txt file then use powershell to compare-object to compare the txt content?
If my understand is correct, you could add the -replace option in command line, such as
(get-content e:\1.txt) -replace(" ","") to delete 'white space'.

How can I sync specific photos from folders instead of syncing the whole folder to my iPad?(1 gen)

So I recently synced a few folders from my PC to my iPad 1 and there was a few photos I did not want on my iPad, so when I tapped the photo, the trash button wasn't there. I looked up why that was happening and discovered it was because synced photos can't be deleted from the photo library. So I ask my question, how can I sync specific photos from folders instead of the whole folder? from iTunes to my iPad. If there is not a way for me to sync specific photos from folders, how can I delete the photos I don't want from my iPad?

As King_Penguin has already explained, this isn't possible with the stock Photos app.
As far as photo syncing is concerned, I also recommend PhotoSync, which is an excellent photo (and video!) synchronization tool, should you want to stick with the stock Photos app on the iPad. Should you want something better (Photos is a pretty limited app without sorting, EXIF displaying etc. capabilities and with HUGE storage usage), you'll need to take a look at third-party apps. I too recommend Photo Manager Pro, it's IMHO the best tool. Is there a way to share a whole folder on Creative Cloud? I only can choose one image at a time and have many images inside a folder to share with someone.

Hi there - currently there is no support for sharing folders. Expanding the sharing capabilities is definitely something on our roadmap for future updates.
