Unbreakable Linux Network
Sorry if this post is redundant or trivial.
We have Oracle 11.2 on Unbreakable 5.4 x_64.
My question is this. Is it possible to fetch patches for the DB through the Unbreakable Linux Network channels. Links so I can RTFM are most welcome.
ULN has operating system and vm releases/update downloads. [ My Oracle Support|https://support.oracle.com/CSP/ui/flash.html] (formerly Metalink) is the source for Oracle product patches. Unbreakable Linux Network Alert Icon - How to register?
Hi,
I just installed the Unbreakable Linux and when tried to use the up2date I get a message requesting to active my environment but I don't have a CSI as I'm an Oracle employee. Does anyone know how can I make it work?
Thanks
ClaudioHello John,
I tried to subscribe to Unbreakable Linux Network with my company's CSI supplied to us through our Oracle partnership; I work for an Oracle Certified Advantage Partner. I have used my CSI for MetaLink registration and Service Requests, but it is not working when I try to register for "up2date" (error: "CSI is not valid").
Should my company's CSI work?
Thanks,

The Enterprise linux is free download and free using.License just for someone wants to update from Unbreakable Linux Network(ULN offers access to Linux software patches, updates and fixes, along with information on up2date program and support policies. ULN subscribers will find security updates and additional bugfixes for kernel and other packages. How to make Firefox access the internet from Oracle Ent. Unbreakable Linux?
Hello
I have a Dell Duo Core x86 laptop that multiboots Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP and Oracle Enterprise Unbreakable Linux. I use Internet Explorer to
access my email while at the library so I know my laptop can access the internet. I just installed the Oracle Enterprise Unbreakable Linux in text mode and
I can still access the Internet but only if I use one of the Windows operating systems which is why I am keeping them for now. The reason is because when I
use Oracle Enterprise Unbreakable Linux, when I select Firefox to access the internet I get these messages:
"Server not found
Firefox can't find server at www.hotmail.com
-check address for typing errors
-if unable to load pages check network connection
-if computer or network protected by firewall make sure Firefox permitted to access
web"
None of those reasons are true for not gaining access to the internet. I want to use Oracle Enterprise Unbreakable Linux from now which is why I installed
but I need to know:
1) Why do I get the "Server not found" and the other error messages when I try to access the internet using Firefox and what do I have to do to make Firefox
access the internet successfully?Hi,
First you must confirm your laptop with Oracle Enterprise Unbreakable Linux can access internet.
Please open a terminal, input the following command
1.ifconfig
2.cat /etc/resolv.conf

Hi !
I'm trying to install Oracle 10.2 on Unbreakable Linux (installed in Virtual PC).
My problem is on package gcc-3.2.
On distribution of Unbreakable Linux download from Oracle web - there is no gcc-3.2, so i download and try to install gcc-3.2 from RedHat, that requires cpp 3.2-7.
I have installed cpp 3.4.6 that i can't uninstall because xorg-x11 requeires it. I don't want to loose X11 in my Linux :(
When i was try to use gcc-3.4.6-3.1 installation failed witch error :

I see in this forum some solutions but none works for me (I´m installing Oracle Unbreakable Linux 5 x64) to solve this problem I put libXp lib but the problem is the same.
The library is installed:
[root@SRVAXILAB072 oracle]# ll /usr/lib64/libXp.so.6
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Aug 16 18:10 /usr/lib64/libXp.so.6 -> libXp.so.6.2.0
[root@SRVAXILAB072 oracle]#
But I think the installation process are searching in /usr/lib but I didn´t have the library in 32b I tried to copy to /usr/lib and another crazy ideas but didn’t work.
I read alot of post and guides for installation process but I didn´t see nothing to install Oracle in Oracle Unbreakable Linux 5
Some ideas??
If not..... I will try with Oracle Unbreakable linux 4 :(
Thanks
Best RegardsWell, I've not been in touch with installs on linux myself for a long time, but it seems you need a few 32-bit libs. Try installing libXp-1.0.0-8.i386.rpm.

Dear,
Is RDAC supported in Oracle Unbreakable Linux Kernel 2.6.32-100.0.19.el5?
If supported, please point to the download link.
We require this in order to plan for the OEL 5.5 kernel upgrade to ULK and to connect SUN SAN storage array 6180.
Thanks,
...bashaFrom what I can gather you will need to compile the driver from source in order to use the RDAC driver with the UEK kernel. Chances are that it won't compile properly under the UEK kernel, which is more up to date than the RHEL kernel.
You will have to start the system from the supplied original RHEL kernel in order to use the binary IBM RDAC driver distribution. The following is available: http://www.lsi.com/sep/Pages/rdac/ds4000.aspx and http://www.lsi.com/sep/Pages/rdac/ds3000.aspx
You may however be able to use Multipath, which is build in also in the UEK kernel. To get the current supported configurations for IBM System Storage it is best to use the interoperability matrices located at http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/storage/product/interop.html. You can use the link to the "System Storage Interoperation Center (SSIC)" to query your specific configuration (http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/support/storage/ssic/interoperability.wss)

Installing Application Server 10g 2 on Unbreakable linux
Hello all,
I wish to install Application Server 10g 2 on Oracle Unbreakable Linux EL5. Could someone please let me know if there are installation instructions for the App Server on EL5?
Also, when I go to [http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101202.html] to download release 2 for Linux x86, the tooltip has the file named as "as_linux_x86_portal_wireless_101202_disk1.cpio". Does anyone know if this is actually the App Server???
Last, but not least, I downloaded disk 1(I'm assuming it's the correct software) and tried to "unzip" it in /home/oracle to run the Universal Installer and Oracle Unbreakable Linux doesn't recognize the file extension .cpio. So my last question then would be is Oracle Unbreakable Linux even a suitable version of Linux to install the App Server on? Because it seems strange that the software Oracle has on its website can't even be opened on their own flavor of Linux.
Any help answering my questions will be appreciated.
-Thank You,
David WrbelisHi,
I did just a while ago.
If you got a joice, use Unbreakable Linux 4 (RHEL4), 10g2 on Unbreakable Linux version 5 is not officially supported by Oracle!
At least my Server was complaining about the system. After extracting the .cpio you can either use
./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs
or go to redhat-release file (I'm not sure in the moment, I believe its /etc/redhat-release) and set it to version 4 instead of 5 until installation is done.
You will get an error during installation, when it appears rename libXtst.so.6.0.0 to libXtst.so.6.0 and press retry, the installation will finish successfully.
You might get an error that opmn could not start. Start it manually, the error won't appear, you can ignore it (press continue).
Your config wizards should ALL be successful!
About the file you downloaded, I was using a different one, since I only needed Forms and Reports service, you might want to have the full Server, so there are more than one correct downloads for 10g2. You need to look carefully what features you need or load full version (which would be several cds I believe).

Two methods can reach your goal as following:
1,mount the ISO and cd Enterprise/RPMS and manually install these packages one by one;
2,Use up2date packages_name install from ULN. -
Oracle 10g RAC on Oracle Unbreakable Linux 4, on 3 HP-DL380 Install Instruc
I am searching for installation assistance (ie install guide) for Setting up an OUL4 RAC Cluster, I have found instructions using a VMserver but am interested in using 3 HP-DL380 machines. Is there a guide detailing such an installation or should I attempt to utilize the VMserver install guide, ignoring the VM references in support of 3 specific machines?
Thank You for any assistance you can provide
NickGI guess I need to specify that I will be responsible only for the "OS" Side of management and installation of the system. Do I follow the standard installation, of a standard download of Oracle Unbreakable Linux on each of the 3 machines, and then continue with RAC cluster installation as explained in the above link?
Thanks
