[Solved] Sauerbraten won't compile from ABS

I'm having some problems trying to compile Sauerbraten from the ABS.
I edited the PKGBUILD to match the new version and removed the md5sums.:

Have you tried removing patch_2008_06_20_linux.tar.bz2 from the sources array? Builds fine for me.

  • [SOLVED] vi/vim/gvim rebuild from ABS failed

    Hi, tried to rebuild vi from source (to get rid of ruby dependence of vim,gvim by modifing PKGBUILD) and got this message.

    having patch file:7.2.001-100.gz

    Edit the PKGBUILD accordingly!
    If I change the PKGBUILD so that
    _patchlevel=167
    instead of
    _patchlevel=65
    It gives me the following message
    having patch file:7.2.166

    patching file src/pty.c
    patching file src/version.c

    How should I modify PKGBUILD to actually build it
    Last edited by ogronom (2009-05-11 13:21:07)

    patchlevel should only be 166, as there isn't a patch 167 yet.
    ftp://ftp.vim.org/pub/vim/patches/7.2/
    I think the problem might be that the 1-100 file is a collection of individual patches (inclusive from 1 to 100). The patch fetch/apply scriptlet might be trying to apply all those twice. It is a fairly simple shell script (not alot of logic).
    on line 21 of get_patches.sh
    for _line in $(/bin/cat MD5SUMS); do
    you could try changing that to
    for _line in $(/bin/cat MD5SUMS | grep -vF '-'); do
    that should work, in conjunction with changing the patchlevel to 166
    EDIT: You should also file a bug report about the get_patches script failing if there are patch bundles included in the md5sum file from the vim patch directory, as it appears to be trying to add the patch bundle as well as the individual patches.

    Eithrial wrote:I tried to compile Krusader using PKGBUILD from abs. I have base-devel installed, but I got in the end error.....
    I tried your compilation from abs on my system and got your same build failure.  I always build with the "--log" option to makepkg and in a case like this open the build log file and search for the error.  There are lots of warnings about things like "unused parameter" "ignoring return value" and such.  Find the first error.  In your case I searched for the word "error" and came to a line with "error: ‘make_pair’ was not declared in this scope".
    So enter that error into a google search (krusader error: ‘make_pair’ was not declared in this scope) and near the top of the list is a link to an Archlinux bug report page for the krusader package, https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/29429
    There you find a Comment by Karol (Kudlaty) - Tuesday, 17 April 2012, 16:00 GMT
    ok, compiling error fixed by changing:
    make_pair => std::make_pair
    There's your fix
    The file with the error, from the build log, was src/krusader-2.4.0-beta1/krusader/UserAction/tstring.h (of course open that file and see where make_pair is used).  The two invocations of make_pair need to become std::make_pair, so the fixed build function in our PKGBUILD becomes
    build() {
    cd "${srcdir}"
    sed -i 's/make_pair/std::make_pair/' krusader-2.4.0-beta1/krusader/UserAction/tstring.h
    mkdir build
    cd build
    cmake ../${pkgname}-${_pkgver} \
    -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release \
    -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr
    make
    With the addition of that one sed line to the pkgbuild the krusader package now builds ok.  Always run namcap on your built package: in this case namcap tells us that we got all of the dependencies right and the package looks ok.

  • Trouble compiling games from ABS and AUR (solved)

    Hi I hope someone can help me. Ive downloaded the tar.gz for drascula from ABS unzipped it and when I try to run makepkg -s I get the error that scummvm 0.12 not found in sync db. I installed the scummvm from ABS manually same error. I then saw it was version 0.11.1 so I uninstalled it and downloaded the correct version from sourceforge. I installed it with ./configure --prefix=/usr/local then make then install. It installed sucessfully as it runs fine but I still recieve the same error when running makepkg -s. What am I doing wrong?

    Welcome to the forums.
    Since you installed it manually, pacman doesn't know it's there. The best way to this would have been to edit the scummvm PKGBUILD then install it with pacman. Usually you just need to change the pkgver line to the new version and comment out the md5sums line.
    It's always best to use packages in Arch. You'll forever be running into problems like this if you don't.

    I'm pretty sure (but not positive) that lib32-catalyst-utils should be providing lib32-libgl. If I patch the PKGBUILD to remove the dependency on lib32-mesa-libgl (might be a bad idea, but it doesn't seem to be causing the issue), it fails when linking, producing thousands of lines like:

    Because pcsx2's PKGBUILD has "lib32-mesa-libgl" as makedepends, while I think it should be the virtual name "lib32-gl". It can cause pacman to uninstall nvidia (lib32-nvidia-libgl) or ATI (lib32-catalyst-utils) in order to install mesa files -- not good, I suppose.

  • [SOLVED] ruby-panelapplet2 won't compile (i686 & x86_64)

    Hi!
    I already wrote forum post in 64 bit section, but today I got to i686 machine and the error is the same, that damned package won't compile
    Can anyone help getting this compiled? Any hints?

    extconf.rb: Leaving directory 'panel-applet'
    That is driving me crazy, coz I can't get SSHMenu work properly and that is one of the tools I use all the time
    If someone has that package in x86_64, please send that to me (edzis123[@]inbox.lv). Please remove all numbers and brackets from there
    If the package is not available, alternate way is sending the files in the package, I suppose these should be like this (I took sample from i686):
    /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/panelapplet2.rb
    /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/x86_64-linux/panelapplet2_main.so
    /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/x86_64-linux/panelapplet2.so
    Thanx in advance.

    Hi!
    After spending quite a lot of time on this, I found the error why I couldn't compile almost any of ruby packages including ruby-gnomepanel2.
    To my big surprise, pacman -R glipper fixed the issue and I'm now using sshmenu w/o any issues.
    Ruby seems to broke if some additional (possibly incorrect) packages are installed, which it shouldn't!! Uff...
    regards

    I see that Py_InitModule is obsolete in python3, but it should be defined in python2.7, which is what is used to run the ./configure script. I even redirected the symlink /usr/bin/python to /usr/bin/python2, but without success.
    Do you know how to fix this?

    rekado wrote:.....
    Do you know how to fix this?
    Yes. Add "--disable-documentation" to the ./configure command in the PKGBUILD.
    Explanation: Archlinux pkgbuilds often do not control the build options through the configuration section of the PKGBUILD but rely on a controlled chroot build environment and how the source package happens to build in that environment. In this case our systems all have perl installed so compiling in the "open" system allows the lilypond build scripts to try to build the documentation. The Arch dev who packaged lilypond compiled it in a special environment in which perl was not present (because it is not listed in the makedepends); without perl the lilypond build scripts skipped the documentation.
    In my opinion the best practice is to make the enable/disable of options explicit in the PKGBUILD so that we can see what is being built or excluded by reading it, and so that we can actually compile packages from ABS using makepkg.
    By the way, you'll also find that some Archlinux packages will not build if /usr/bin/python points to python3. The devs may be building those packages in a chroot in which python points to python2 (as it should). I build everything on my Arch system from source code and find it best to remove /usr/bin/python -- anything trying to run "python" on my system fails and I fix it to access python2 or python3.

    I searched for a solution or a patch, but couldn't find anything.
    xorg-server-1.17.2 supposedly has build fixes with gcc-5.1, but obviously that didn't help much for me.
    Otherwise my arch installation is up-to-date.
    I'm building on x86-64 (Haswell) with
    CPPFLAGS="-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2"
    CFLAGS="-march=native -mtune=native -O3 -pipe -fstack-protector-strong --param=ssp-buffer-size=4"
    CXXFLAGS="-march=native -mtune=native -O3 -pipe -fstack-protector-strong --param=ssp-buffer-size=4"
    LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O2,--sort-common,--as-needed,-z,relro"
    MAKEFLAGS="-j16"
    DEBUG_CFLAGS="-g -fvar-tracking-assignments"
    DEBUG_CXXFLAGS="-g -fvar-tracking-assignments"
    Has anyone else seen this or any idea how to fix it?
    Last edited by pgzh (2015-06-19 15:03:20)

    Using
    CFLAGS="-march=native -mtune=native -O2 -pipe -fstack-protector-strong --param=ssp-buffer-size=4"
    CXXFLAGS="-march=native -mtune=native -O2 -pipe -fstack-protector-strong --param=ssp-buffer-size=4"
    in makepkg.conf actually worked, I totally forgot about changing the optimization level.
    Since this is the first time for a very long time I've encountered a problem with -O3, do you think this should be reported as a bug for xorg-server?
    With gcc-4.9 building xorg-server with -O3 optimization level worked perfectly fine for me (I built 1.17.1 like that) and gcc-5.1 causes this culprit.
    Anyways, thank you very much for your help!

  • [Solved] Apps compiled from source never work and a security question

    Gentlemen,
    I'm a Linux noob but in spite of that I managed to install Archlinux thanks to a fine How To Wiki.
    1. I have a question regarding compiling from source in Arch - does it differ from other linuxdistros?
    With other distros I normally install in /usr/local and that has worked flawless.
    Take Pacman for instance: although I can see there is this Opera app available in the repo (via arch's home page -> search package), the 'pacman -S opera' tells me the app doesn't exist.
    I've tried to download and install it from source following Opera's own 'how to' but the app fails to start, after a successful installation.
    Same goes with other apps such as f-prot antivirus.
    Did I miss something important here?
    2. I installed Arch over FTP. How safe is it, considering I'm not behind a router and the iptables/firestarter was only installed after xfce4 was installed. What about open ports and such? I know there aren't many services enabled/listening but I noticed couple of daemons such as portmap being active during the installation process.
    Thanks

    kumico wrote:
    you can add /usr/local to the path in /etc/profile to make it global or in your ~/.bashrc or ~/.bash_profile to make it available to your user session.
    a pkgbuild is pretty simple once you get used to it,
    you may be put off by packaging standards, you can ignore them, they are only for people intending to share
    with other via the AUR for example.
    you can copy one of the existign ones, either the prototypes or jsut anyone from the aur,
    then change stuff you fidn necessary, like pkgname, pkgver, etc.
    and add the same build commands you'd use otherwise to the build()
    and usualy for a make install, just add DESTDIR=$startdir/pkg etc.,... just practice you'll get the hang of it very quickly
    Hi Kumico, thanks for the tip.
    Or I could try using Arch's default paths as long as the applications don't mind. But it's nice to have an alternative solution should any trouble arise.
    Regarding pkgbuild, I'll probably start to use it when I feel more comfy with the Arch environment itself.
    Using the terminal to perform...well, just about everything, rather than having a nice gui isn't actually bad, but there sure is a transition for a newbie to adapt to.

    Have you installed kernel headers ?
    Comment by rhon (2013-05-03 12:08)
    Patch is now included in package.
    Comment by binaryjay (2013-08-07 11:47)
    Is there a reason that after all of this time this is still only available in AUR, why isn't this module available in the package repository?
    Comment by rhon (2013-08-22 04:46)
    I guess it's because the package doesn't get enough votes.
    Comment by rhon (2013-09-26 20:36)
    Package is now orphan because I don't use the devices anymore, so I can't test the module.

    I'm orphaning the crystalhd-git and libcrystalhd-git, because I don't have the hardware anymore.

    Updated with patches from Openelec (https://github.com/OpenELEC/OpenELEC.tv/tree/master/packages/multimedia/crystalhd/patches)

    Instead of fetching patches from github, there are now in the package.

  • My HP LaserJet CM1415fnw won't scan from my Windows 8 computer

    My hp LaserJet CM1415fnw won't scan from my computer using the paint application on my computer.  I had no problem with previous computer.  But I purchased a new computer with Windows 8 and the can option in Paint cannot be selected.

    Hi HelenBay,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
    I see that your HP LaserJet CM1415fnw will not scan from your Windows 8 computer, and I am happy to help you with this scanning issue!
    For further assistance, I will need to know:
    If the printer is connected, Wireless, Ethernet, or USB.
    If the printer is able to make copies by itself.
    If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
    In the meantime, please try the HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know what happens!
    Hope to hear from you, and thank you for posting!

  • Safari won't open from dock after upgrading to leopard

    I've upgraded from OS X 10.4.11 Tiger to OS X 10.5.2 Leopard with the upgrade DVD which arrived today and all the available Software Updates (which included a Safari update). No more Software Updates are available - I've checked.
    Safari and Mail will now not open from the Dock. Neither will iChat, AddressBook, iDVD (which produces a pop-up saying it "quit unexpectedly" - it didn't appear to start at all), and iCal. Safari and Mail WILL open from my Applications folder thankfully. I haven't checked the other mentioned applications, except iDVD which does the same non-opening with pop-up from Applications too.
    I have run permissions verification and permissions repair from Disc Utility on the Mac HD. I have run disc verification from there too and the result said the disc appears OK. Neither solved the Dock problem.
    The icons in the Dock don't bounce or anything. They remain still and un-animated. I just get a pop-up message saying "You cannot use the application "Safari.app" with this version of Mac OS X". Which surprises me as it's a native Apple Mac application isn't it? Obviously it says "Mail.app" for mail, "iChat.app" for iChat etc.
    I reinserted the Leopard installation DVD and installed all the applications from the Optional Install.mpkg folder, including Safari and Mail. This has made no noticeable difference: they still won't open from the dock. I have just noticed that an additional icon for Safari appears at the far (right hand) end of the dock when I open it from Applications. But it disappears when I close Safari, so no good for opening it.
    It could be worse, I can actually open some of the applications from my Applications folder. But this is inconvenient and besides, it is supposed to work from the Dock.
    Has anyone else had this problem?
    Can anyone help me to solve it please?
    I have backed-up (not using time machine - I backed-up before I upgraded). I hope to avoid having to erase and reinstall but I will IF that will solve this problem (and not cause any others
    Help please. Thanks.

    Hi
    Dock icons are simply alias. The ones on your dock may be corrupted, especially since you can open Safari from the applications folder. To remove an icon, right click on it and select "remove from dock", or simply drag it off the dock, where it will disappear in a puff of virtual smoke.
    Then, go to the Finder and single-click/hold any item you want on the dock. Drag it there.
    Try Safari or the other apps again.
    Specific to the Leopard upgrade, important any 3rd party items installed in your system are Leopard compatible, otherwise you'll have operational problems when using them.
    One other thought. It is possible the Dock is corrupted, causing the problem. If the above does not resolve the problem, go to the Finder: Your User Account>Library>Preferences folder. There, move the com.apple.dock.plist and com.apple.dock.db files to the desktop, then relaunch the Finder (hold down the option/command/esc keys to reveal the Quit Panel. Select the Finder>relaunch.
