[SOLVED] Setting terminal title from within python

I know the following commands can set the title of the terminal window:
unset PROMPT_COMMAND
echo -en "\033]2;[b]$1[/b]\007"
However they do nothing if I call them from python using the commands module.
Is there a way to enable my console python scripts to change the title of the terminal they are running in?

Set Terminal title via shell command

Hi
From xTerm under linux I know that it is possible to set the window title to the output of a special command with setttitle (e.g. to display the hostname of the machine I am on). Is there any possibility in Terminal.app? I'd be grateful for a workaround too. E.g. using apple-script to set the title.

Set data title from chart at runtime

Is it possible to change the data title from a chart at runtime?
Or alternativly, can one use a formula as data title, which then can be changed at runtime?

We have some reports that are in deferent languages. For now I've used formulafields as columnheaders where I change the text at runtime accordingly.
the text I want to change on the chart is located under
Chart Expert... > Text (tab) > Data title:
For now I solve this by drawing a text object over the chart, but this could give problems in the fututre with positioning and such.

Set document title from windows clipboard contents

Hi Folks!
I have a process which I perform all the time, which leads me to believe that it's a good candidate for scripting. However, my scripting capabilities are only VB stuff and I think this may be beyond that.
Specifically, I print invoices from Quickbooks into PDF files, and the PDF then automatically opens in Acrobat.
Today, I populate the Windows Clipboard while in Quickbooks. Next, I "print" the invoice to PDF, and Acrobat opens with that document. I then choose File->Properties, and paste the contents of the clipboard into the "Title" of the Properties dialog. Finally, I save and close the PDF.
What I'd like: Upon pressing a button on toolbar (I hope this is possible!), I'd like to have the open document's "Title" set to whatever the contents of the Windows Clipboard is, then save and close the PDF document.
Can anyone help with a shell of a script here? I have little to no experience in Acrobat (or javascript) scripting. I find the Adobe docs on this quite confusing, as I don't know whether to be using an external editor (how do I connect the external script to an Acrobat button?) or the internal Javascript Console (again, connect to button)?
Any assistance here would be most appreciated.

This can't be done with JavaScript in Acrobat, since it has no access to the clipboard.
The only option is an external GUI automation script (like AutoIt).

Calling non-static command from within static method

I am running Form9i, I have set the browser windows title from Web Forms dynamically by using following method. However, when my PC has changed to XP, the function seems not work. Does anybody have same problem and how to solve it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Zsh/urxvt terminal title? [SOLVED!]

I'm using urxvt(c) as my terminal emulator, and my shell is zsh.
What do I need to add to my .zshrc to set the title to the current command (plus arguments) when a command is run, and back to 'urxvt' when it finishes? The solution in this thread didn't work.

How to call a set method from within a constructor

Hello,
I want to be able to call a set method from within a Scanner, to be used as the argument to pass to the Scanner (from a source file). Here's what i tried:

    and here is the set method:

The "String in" declaration says: "Nobody may ever invoke setSource() without specifying a certain String. The content of the String is known at run-time only."
In no place in your code you say the compiler: "I want the 'in' variable (actually, parameter) of method setSource() to contain the first arg which is passed to the application".
This is exactly the same mechanism allowing you to write "new Scanner" with something inside the two parentheses.

WPF UI running in seperate runspace - able to set/get controls via synchronized hash table, but referencing the control via the hash table from within an event handler causes both runspaces to hang.

I am trying to build a proof of concept where a WPF form is hosted in a seperate runspace and updates are handled from the primary shell/runspace. I have had some success thanks to a great article by Boe Prox, but I am having an issue I wanted to open up
to see if anyone had a suggestion.
My goals are as follows:
1.) Set control properties from the primary runspace (Completed)
2.) Get control properties from the primary runspace (Completed)
3.) Respond to WPF form events in the UI runspace from the primary runspace (Kind of broken).
I have the ability to read/write values to the form, but I am having difficulty with events. Specifically, I can fire and handle events, but the minute I try to reference the $SyncHash from within the event it appears to cause a blocking condition hanging both
runspaces. As a result, I am unable to update the form based on an event being fired by a control.
In the example below, the form is loaded and the following steps occur:
1.) Update-Combobox is called and it populates the combobox with a list of service names and selects the first item.
2.) update-textbox is called and sets the Text property of the textbox.
3.) The Text value of the textbox is read by the function read-textbox and output using write-host.
4.) An event handle is registered for the SelectionChanged event for the combobox to call the update-textbox function used earlier.
5.) If you change the selection on the combobox, the shell and UI hangs as soon as $SyncHash is referenced. I suspect this is causing some sort of blocking condition from multiple threads trying to access the synchronized nature of the hash table, but I am
unsure as to why / how to work around it. If you comment out the line "$SyncHash.TXT_Output.Dispatcher.Invoke("Send",[action]{$SyncHash.TXT_Output.Text = $Value})" within update-textbox the event handler will execute/complete.

To clarify the "Respond to control events in the main runspace"... I'm would like to have an event generated by a form object in the UI runspace (ex: combo box selectionchanged event) trigger a delegate within the main runspace and have that delegate in
the main runspace update the form in the UI runspace.
ex:
1.) User changes selection on combo box generating form event
2.) Event calls delegate (which I have gotten to work)
3.) Delegate does some basic processing (works)
4.) Delegate attempts to update form in UI runspace (hangs)
As to the delegates / which runspace they are running in. I see the $synchash variable if I run get-var within a delegate, but I do not see the $Form variable so I am assuming that they are in the main runspace. Do you agree with that assumption?

How do I set a variable on the main timeline from within a symbol?

Just getting started with Animate and coming to it from Flash, as may be apparent from my question. How do you set a variable to the main timeline from within a symbol?
I have 24 pairs of clickable elements, each in their own symbols, and all 24 of those symbols sit inside another symbol. I want all 24 to be able to set the same global variable when clicked. I can't find that this question is addressed anywhere, which makes me think I may be stuck in a Flash mindset and approaching the task in the wrong way. (There are however MANY discussions of how to address objects at different levels in the hierarchy. That's well covered.)
Relatedly, how do you access a function on the main timeline from within a symbol?
Adobe should consider putting together a support page (or pages) just for folks migrating form Flash. In the materials I've encountered so far there seems to be a studied effort to refrain from mentioning Flash in any way. I imagine there are a lot of people out there like me who have a deep background in Flash coding, but are just getting started with Animate. We don't need help with most of the basic concepts, but we may still have some pretty basic questions about how to accomplish some things in Animate because our Flash knowledge is getting in the way.

Setting the Spool Title from Information Broadcaster

I have a BI 7.0 SP 15 environment. We are trying to use the Information Broadcaster to setup a schedule of a few hundred reports to be sent to the printer. The problem is we need to be able to set the title line of the spooler, but I can seem to find any parameters directly in the Information Broadcaster that will set the title line. Every time I send a report to the printer the title line of the spool is blank. Does anyone know of a way to set this parameter? Is there a way of modifying an ABAP program to set this parameter? I know there are way of programmatically setting this parameter, I just dont know which program to modify to get this to work.

CMake behaves differently from within PKGBUILD and from command line

I am currently struggling with an issue which I cannot find a solution. The problem is, I am trying to create a PKGBUILD for the CasADi code. The following is the PKGBUILD file written. My problem is the cmake configuration part. When the code is configured from the command line, without PKGBUILD, camke detects the -fopenmp flag for C and C++ compilers. For exactly the same compilers, cmake detects openmp for C compiler but fails to do so for the C++ compiler, when configuration is done from within the PKGBUILD file using makepkg.
My question is, why different behaviors? Any suggestions on what is wrong?

With a little creativity, you can actually do all that from the command line with a single command. It'll look a little crazy, but it can be done.
Whether the script exists on the local machine or not has zero to do with platform indpendence. You assumedly have to get the application onto the local machine, so including the script is not really an issue at all. However, you're talking about system independence, yet still wishing to run command line arguments? The two are mutually exclusive.
