[SOLVED] systemd is take a while to start httpd

Hi!
I've just installed LAMP and I noticed that apache is taking a while to start. I remember it took some time on Debian, but not that much.
Is it normal? (I may have done something wrong, or it may be something to do to improve apache startup time)
Here are my figures:
~$ time systemctl stop httpd.service
real 0m20.115s
user 0m0.000s
sys 0m0.000s
~$ time systemctl start httpd.service
real 1m1.760s
user 0m0.000s
sys 0m0.000s
~$ time systemctl restart httpd.service
real 1m21.681s
user 0m0.000s
sys 0m0.000s
One minute is almost the time my PC takes to boot entirely
The other question is: does systemd start apache in parallel of the other services, so that we don't lose to much time during the PC boot?
Thanks.

Try your local IPv4 IP address. Or "localhost".

  • Take a while to start up and shut down

    My MBP has been taking long to start up and shut down recently. I haven't put in any new softwares, been running regular updates. I tried fixing it with "Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner" and "Blackhole", but wouldn't speed up. Sometimes, applications shut down randomly. Please help.

    There is an issue I have noticed and I have been able to solve it for a good few people now, relating to slow boots and shutdowns.
    It is particularly obvious when on shutdown you see the spinner circle for a while.
    I had this issue myself and I fixed it using a simple terminal command.
    There are permissions on all the files on OS X, and there is a bug I believe when you do certain operations that screws up the group permissions on root (or / as it's known).
    An example of an operation that messes it up that I've come across is 'Deleting free space using disk utility' but I believe using certain apps such as ONYX can have this effect too.
    Basically the problem arises when OS X cannot create caches it needs to.
    You can tell if you need to run this command by looking at your console messages and if you see something like:
    'Kext can't create cache - owner not root' then you have the problem.
    The most interesting thing (as of 10.6.5 don't know if it's fixed in 10.6.6) is that 'Repairing Permissions' doesn't fix this issue EVEN THOUGH it is a permissions issue.
    The solution is simply to run this command:
    Open Terminal and run:
    sudo chown root:admin /
    even if you don't have the issue running it will not cause a problem so you can try it without worrying.
    Of course there could be something else that's causing your issue, but as niche as this issue may sound, nearly every person with a Mac that's experiencing slow boots & startups has had the issue fixed by this.

    John
    I have submitted a bug report regarding this FWIW.

  • [SOLVED] KDE issues (takes 10 minutes to start, oxygen theme)

    Hi everyone,
    after today's update, KDE is taking about 10 minutes to fully start (instead of 5 seconds - i have an SSD), about 3-4 minutes to get over the splash screen,
    then 3-4 minutes black desktop, and then slowly the taskbar, then the icons on systray and so on.
    First i thought the changes with the "filesystem" package totally broke KDE, but no, it starts if i wait... the CPU, HDD are on idle, i have no idea what is waiting for
    so long, also i have no idea what to check in which logs ... help is appreciated or any idea where i could start checking.
    Also the oxygen theme is gone from GTK apps, like firefox, i have the ugly old gtk style ... (like here http://www.gefoo.org/generalfoo/uploads … 4.8.1.png)
    Thanks.

    Hi pbera and thanks,
    i did the
    pacman -Rn oxygen-gtk2 oxygen-gtk3
    pacman -S oxygen-gtk2 oxygen-gtk3
    restarted firefox, nothing ... after reboot however it's ok now, all gtk apps have the oxygen style (probably something wasn't updated with the oxygen package update ... who knows).
    About KDE i suspected it's the Network manager to blame since i noticed later that it was completely missing, so i removed and installed again, rebooted but still the same 10 minutes untill kde loads ...
    then i remembered that i renamed the /sbin to /sbin.old and the /usr/sbin to /usr/sbin.old because there ware some files in it before the update, despite
    $ pacman -Qqo /bin /sbin /usr/sbin | pacman -Qm -
    telling me that no one uses those folders, the following files ware left in them:
    ls /sbin.old/
    ls -l /sbin.old/
    total 92
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 18880 Oct 12 2012 halt
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 40624 Oct 12 2012 init
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 Oct 12 2012 poweroff -> halt
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 Oct 12 2012 reboot -> halt
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 6280 Oct 12 2012 runlevel
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 23304 Oct 12 2012 shutdown
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 Oct 12 2012 telinit -> init
    and
    ls /usr/sbin.old/
    ck-log-system-restart ck-log-system-stop dl10k1 ld10k1d rc.d
    ck-log-system-start console-kit-daemon ld10k1 NetworkManager
    now, i took these files (of which a bunch are junk for sure) and copied back into the new /usr/bin, rebooted, and bingo ...
    I marked the topic as solved, but i have no idea which of these files caused the issue. The only single one that was of these present in the new usr/bin was the NetworkManager, which i reinstalled as I mentioned already ... so, i have no clue why, but it's working fine now ...
    [strike]edit: i wanted to ask, which package contains the poweroff, reboot, etc. commands? since those ware left in the old sbin and pacman didn't know of any package containing them.[/strike]

  • [SOLVED] systemd: laptop-mode-tools fails to start (No such file ...)

    Hi,
    I recently moved to systemd. I noticed that 'laptop-mode-tools' does not start:
    Loaded: error (Reason: No such file or directory)
    Active: inactive (dead)
    Also laptop-mode itself does not run (but exits successfully), maybe this has something to do with it:
    laptop-mode.service - Laptop Mode Tools
    Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/laptop-mode.service; enabled)
    Active: active (exited) since Sat, 2012-11-10 10:44:13 CET; 2min 17s ago
    Process: 1020 ExecStart=/usr/sbin/laptop_mode init auto (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
    CGroup: name=systemd:/system/laptop-mode.service
    I cannot find anything in journal that would help resolve this issue. Has someone else come across this problem? Where should I look to fix this issue?
    Sidenote: When I boot up, there show up some errors about 'eth0' and 'wlan0' "No such file or directory", but I cannot find them in the journal so I don't know them exactly.

    When I upgraded, pacman said the following
    [2012-11-04 09:41] The systemd service name has changed from \laptop-mode-tools" to "laptop-mode"
    [2012-11-04 09:41] The change requires the old symlink to be manually removed:
    [2012-11-04 09:41] rm /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/laptop-mode-tools.service
    [2012-11-04 09:41] The laptop-mode.service can be enabled using:
    [2012-11-04 09:41] systemctl enable laptop-mode
    [2012-11-04 09:41] upgraded laptop-mode-tools (1.61-2 -> 1.62-2)

  • Premiere Pro CS5.5 Encoding takes a while to start and freezes a little at 49%?

    Hi all, I have noticed when I click the export button on the export settings and the encoding  box starts up it sits on 0% for around 3-5 min then kicks in and starts encoding. Plus once I get to 49% it sits again for 3-5min then starts up again. Any ideas why it is doing this?
    A little more info:
    Os: Win 7 Pro x64
    CPU: i7 2600k
    Ram: 16GB
    HDD: WD 1TB Black
    Video has a small after effects file and about 20min of screen recording @720p along with voice over audio recoreded in audition. Rendering at 2 pass target 2mbps 1280x720p, Max depth and max render quality checked.

    Sounds like OE. Why max bit depth? Do you have AJA or BM? Is your source 422? What version of PR? Only a single disk? What source, what export settings? what bitrate, etc.?
    In short, nothing to go on here, just guessing, but operator error makes the most sense with the info provided.

    i'm using systemd, and i removed initscripts and sysvinit.
    I've now noticed this error, it seems that service failed to load.

    Looking into the issue, i can't find a solution...
    so, here there are :

    Any idea?
    EDIT:as i said, i can restart it, without any sort of problem, so i guess the issue is related to the deps of this service (After=...). I left it untouched, never modified this service...

    Hello.
    It takes quite a long time for my system to shutdown. The systemd ArchWiki suggests to log the shutdown like this. I am not quite sure what to look for. I suspect that smplayer or deluged might be the problem. Am I right and furthermore what can I do about it?

  • Takes more time to start & shutdown the database

    Hi All,
    I have created a database in oracle9i by following manual steps. Every thing was created successfully and am able to start the database and shutdown also.
    but the problem is while giving the startup command it takes more time to start the database and the same during the shutdown. So anyone help me..
    the follwing are the pfile specifications:
    db_name=practice
    instance_name=practice
    control_files= 'E:\practice\control\control1.ctl',
              'D:\practice\control\control2.ctl'
    db_block_size=2048
    db_cache_size=20m
    shared_pool_size=20m
    background_dump_dest='E:\practice\bdump'
    user_dump_dest='E:\practice\udump'
    Thanks in Advance

    Every thing was created successfully and am able to start the database and > shutdown also.Please restate the above.
    problem is while giving the startup command it takes more time to start the >database and the same during the shutdownHow have you compared? Could it be O/S resources, installation of additional software; you have not mentioned the O/S and complete version of your database.
    You can review the following although I am bit unclear;

  • Takes a while to play sound via audio interface on iMac

    I purchased iMac along with Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 USB audio interface and started having following problems from the beginning.
    When I play video/music on itunes, logic or whatever apps that plays sound, it takes a while(about 20 sec) to play sounds. Sometimes it does not play sounds at all until I turn the volume halfway up on Focusrite Scarlett 6i6. It happens all the time when I play sound for the first time after turning the computer on. It happens when I start using the computer after a while. Sometimes it turns off the sound even when the music/video is being played. I had problem with latest Scarlett driver and still happens after switching to class compliant mode. It seems like it takes time for the computer to wake 6i6 via USB, but I am not sure. Please help!
    computer Specifications:
    - late 2013 iMac / flash 1TB / GTX 780M / 32GB RAM
    - mavericks 10.9.2
    - Just Scarlett 6i6 connected directly via USB
    - no other devices connected, just apple bluetooth keyboard, magic mouse and touchpad
    Softwares:
    - Logic pro x latest version, Kontakt 5.3.0
    - sample rate 44
    Product Info:
    - was using latest 6i6 driver but recently switched to class compatible mode

    Well I have done the disk cleanup and it still didnt fix it. I just got this player yesterday too I have about 3.5 gigs on it. I didnt get my usb 2.0 system yet, but im just really worried about these long load times for the songs on the player. Im gona try loading some mp3s and see how those go.
    edit... I just loaded up some MP3s and they start in about 3-4 seconds. A lot faster then my WMAs from yahoo, but still I was expecting mp3s to play instantly pretty much.Message Edited by Johnwashere on 05-2-2005 2:26 AM

  • Samsung screen blinks and takes a while to come on

     Why does my Samsung screen keep blinking when I press the button and it takes a long time to come on?

    Hello Gin-e,
    You should contact Samsung if you are talking about your Samsung monitor. it could be expected behavior or it might not be. I've noticed on some Samsung monitors that it takes a while to boot and the monitor doesn't come out of sleep mode very well. Sounds like you have a monitor issue though and as the monitor is not an HP monitor I wouldn't be able to provide you any information on if that behavior is to be expected or not.

    The only difference I have with respect to a standard installation is that I downloaded an older version of the backport drivers, and in doing so I surely re-installed gspca.
    So my questions are: where is systemd-module-load searching for gspca? How can I persuade it to search in the right directory? And in any case, why is it searching for it in the wrong place to start with?. Just in case,

    Problem solved, thanks to both of you guys. For some resason, I had a webcam.conf file in /etc/modules-load.d containing the single line *gspca*, which is not a module: both modprobe and insmod fail, because the correct module name is one of those listed in /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/media/usb/gspca. They are called gspca_benq.ko       gspca_konica.ko and so on. I simply deleted the file since I  do not need it.
    As for backport drivers: this site, http://drvbp1.linux-foundation.org/~mcg … backports/ has the most recent versions of Linux drivers, backported so that older kernels can install them (I understand this is not a concern for fellow Archers). Whenever I need to upgrade (mostly on Debian) or downgrade (a few times on Arch, because an older version of a driver is free of a newly minted bug) I download these drivers, compile them and install them from source.

    Yes, start over. Use anotehr browser to initiate the download or use this method:
