[solved] Trouble installing android SDK and eclipse plugin

Hi !
Owner of an HTC hero, I would like to develop some apps for it. However, I have problems to install the android eclipse plugin on my archs (a 32 and a 64 bits) while it is working fine on my roommate's ubuntu...
I'm following these instructions : http://developer.android.com/sdk/eclipse-adt.html
At step 3, when I click OK in order to add the site, just nothing happens, the pop up stays displayed and I can still clic on the bottons, (but only "cancel" do something...) . I've tried to start eclipse from the console, but no output here
Why do you think this happens ?
I have also problem with the sdk tools :
when I try to view the available packages il get :
Failed to fetch URL https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repos … sitory.xml, reason: HTTPS SSL error. You might want to force download through HTTP in the settings.
(even if I ask to use HTTP insted of HTTPS)
Have you already got this problem?
Thanks,
Fredszaq (from France, escuse english mistakes...)

Also, if I'm developing for android, ipad, and iphone and I want them all to be the same can I do it by only making one site or I have to make a different site location for each?

Inquire of whom?  Apple?  Seems to me your carrier is giving you the run-around.  They are the ones who provide the service, so they should be able to tell you the plan specifics.  Get on the phone again with them and insist on an answer.

  • Using local android-sdk and android-sdk-platform-tools with phonegap

    Hello,
I've installed android-sdk, android-sdk-platform-tools and android-sdk-build-tools packages from AUR and phonegap with npm command line utility of nodejs. When I try to build android app using the command:
    $ phonegap run android
phonegap fails to detect locally installed android SDK environment and uses remote one:
    [phonegap] detecting Android SDK environment...
    [phonegap] using the remote environment
I tried adding paths /opt/android-sdk/tools/, /opt/android-sdk/platform-tools/ and /opt/android-sdk/build-tools to $PATH variable but still, no luck. How can I make phonegap use the local android SDK environment?

  • SWT and Eclipse Plugin

im having trouble creating a plugin. i have created my code in JFC but unfortunately it wouldn't work in Eclipse plugin. it must be written in SWT..
after searching tons of website on SWT and Eclipse Plugin, i came across the plugin wizard of Eclipse..
i have created a sample SWT code and i was wondering how can i get it to work with an Eclipse plugin? i was editing the files under the src folder but to no avail, im still stuck..
please help me.. thanx a lot.

the wizards for generating eclipse plugins are quite useful if you use the right one. there's sample projects for more UI artifacts (editors, views etc). they'll do a lot of the legwork of setting up and configuring, say, a view, and give you a blank Composite to put your own work on
you can also use the AWT_SWT bridge if you really want to use AWT or Swing components on your plugins, but it's a pain in the @rse to be honest
also, you'd be far better off going to eclipse.org newsgroups for this sort of question. hardly anyone here uses SWT or writes plugins, that I know of

  • ADC SDK and/or Plugin API -- hope springs eternal

    All,
I just contacted the Apple Developer Connection asking if they can give me any information regarding an Aperture SDK and/or Plugin API. If there is one out there, and it doesn't cost a fortune, I'm going to look into the possibility of solving the ACR issue.
It's a long shot, but there's always hope. I'll let you all know what I find out. If anyone else gets to an answer before I do on whether these resources exist, please post it here.
    Brad

Unfortunately I looked into this a few days after the initial announcement - the reply was ' 'Aperture 1.0 ships with a fixed set of adjustments. There's currently no public SDK for plug-in developers.'
On the other hand FCP 1 had no SDK, so it might be another feature where we have to wait...

What turns the trial into the live software is signing in. If you sign in with the Adobe ID that has the subscription, the trial becomes live. First check your account on Adobe.com to make sure that the subscription is live.

  • [SOLVED] Having trouble installing both Steam and Desura

I've been trying to install these but both are apparently having the same issue, maybe it's a KDE problem (I'm using a KDE setup) or something?
I get a message like for libpng12 which is needed for Desura:
File /var/cache/pacman/pkg/libpng12-1.2.50-4-i686.pkg.tar.xz is corrupted (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature)).
    For Steam I get this:
File /var/cache/pacman/pkg/steam-1.0.0.45-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz is corrupted (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature)).
Then it asks if I want to delete it, and either choice prevents me from actually installing.
EDIT: I ran these two commands and tried installing steam again and had no issues.
    pacman-key --populate archlinux
    then...
    pacman-key --refresh-keys
Last edited by felixculpa (2013-12-07 21:16:06)

I think it's a signature/keys issue, I deleted the gnupg key directory and refreshed the keys and synced and updated. Then when trying to install steam I had to import PGP keys, and the signatures are of "unknown trust." Then I still get a corrupted package message afterwards. I'm thinking I will just disable signature signing and then trying to install, then reenable signature signing afterwards... I'm a little wary of this because of possible security issues.
EDIT: installs and making the package for Desura run fine with signature checking disabled but I wonder if there is some kind of security exploit thing going on with them?

  • Problem installing android-sdk from AUR using yaourt

    Hi all,
I use yaourt to install packages from the AUR but I'm having an issue with android-sdk.
Whenever I run 'yaourt -S android-sdk' it seems to detect that the 'java-runtime' is not installed.
However, I do have sun's jre and jdk installed (I was having applet issues with openjdk) and it detects this when it actually starts installing it.
But it just reinstalls the package and quits without installing the android sdk. If I run yaourt again, the same thing happens.
Does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be?
I could download the tar.gz from google but I'd rather keep everything handled by arch package management.

Is that a show stopper for yaourt?  I use aurbuild and did that install the other night.  It tripped over the java runtime and pitched a warning, but the build worked and it installed.
I could download the tar.gz from google but I'd rather keep everything handled by arch package management.
Even if you hand build the AUR in a directory of your choice, the resultant package is still integrated into your Arch system using the -U option of pacman.  Regadrless of the front end (Yaourt, aurbuild, or roll-your-own), pacman tracks the package as 'Foreign'.  FYI.

  • Kodo 3.1.4 and Eclipse plugin

I'm currently migrating from Kodo 2.5.3 to Kodo 3.1.4, and as I'm using
Eclipse have decided to give the Eclipse plugin a go. I've followed the
documentation (@15.6), and am now attempting the Eclipse Sample from the
documentation (@15.6.4). The documentation has seemed slightly incomplete,
but I assume that's just me using Eclipse 3.0 with the doumentation being
    written for WSAD 4.
However, when I clean the project or run the enhancer I get the following
    error:
<error>-The Enhancer failed. The message included was:

         org.apache.commons.lang.exception.NestableRuntimeException: Animal
    <info>-Done.
This message doesn't seem to be giving me any info that would help me
track down the problem, so hopefully somebody has seen it beforehand in
these circumstances and can help me out?
    Cheers,
    Matt

Stephen, the stack trace is as below. Apparently the Animal class isn't
being found...? - How does the Kodo plugin look for / find it? - Eclipse
itself has no trouble compiling it. Do I need to somehow configure my
classpath separately for the Kodo plugin?

  • BPEL Installation Issues and Eclipse Plugin Issue

I'm trying to evaluate BPEL and encountered the following issues:
    (1) Installation of patch 4343748:
    MISSING_COMPONENT : oracle.j2ee, 10.1.2.0.0
This Oracle Home does not have components/versions required by the patch.
ERROR: OPatch failed during pre-reqs check.
OPatch returns with error code = 150
The other 2 patches installed fine.
Is there a required order for installing the patches. The information that I found is a bit spotty on that.
    (2) The Eclipse Plugin also doesn't work properly. The following stack trace is reported back, when trying to open a .bpel file:

I'm still hoping to find an answer on why the Eclipse BPEL Designer does not work for me. I can generate a BPEL project but the visual BPEL Editor will just not open up. Any clues on what I should be looking at would be very appreciated.
Here is the exact Eclipse version that I'm using:
    Version: 3.1.0
    Build id: I20050627-1435
And another stack trace that is seen in the Eclipse error log:

  • NullPointerException in Schematool ANT-Task and Eclipse-plugin

    Hi,
When running the Schematool from the Eclipse-plugin or from the ANT-task,
    I get a NullPointerException. The ANT-plugin gives a more-or-less usefull
exception-traceback, the Eclipse-plugin doesn't give any useful hints.
The funny thing however is that from the commandline it all works!
    The exception from ANT is:
    [schematool] com.solarmetric.kodo.runtime.FatalException: There was an
error mapping field "operator" of type "class

Any pointers what I'm doing wrong here?
(Another data-point: when I moved the sources to the laptop of a collegue,
and we try to generate the schema there, the plugin complains about not
having any JDO metadata available for the class RelationOperator - which
is the type of the field 'operator' that gives the NPE.
    I'm using KODO-JDO 2.5.0RC2)

This seems to be a problem with ClassLoader interactions; it will be
fixed for the next 2.5 RC (or final release). Thanks for pointing it
    out.

    Hi,
When running the Schematool from the Eclipse-plugin or from the ANT-task,
    I get a NullPointerException. The ANT-plugin gives a more-or-less usefull
exception-traceback, the Eclipse-plugin doesn't give any useful hints.
The funny thing however is that from the commandline it all works!--

  • Unable to install Active X and Flash Plugin for Acrobat

I would like to create a PDF Portfolio in Acrobat Pro XI. However, once I have selected the files I get a notification that states, "To view the Flash technology content in this PDF file, please install this version of Flash Player that supports Adobe Reader and Acrobat." When I click the buttom "Proceed to download page," it brings me to this page: Acrobat Help | Flash Player needed | Acrobat, Reader XI
The problem is, the two download links for Windows don't seem to be working. Is this an across the board issue or is it just me? How can I go about installing these required plugins?

    Hi asbryk,
I checked the link to install flash player and it is working fine.
If the 'Flash Player Active X' and 'Flash Player Plug-ins ' are already installed in your system, then first uninstall them.
For that, please go to Control Panel>Programs and Features and click uninstall.
Also, check whether you have an updated Acrobat version i.e. 11.0.09 by clicking Help>Check for Updates
Now, restart your system and install the Flash Player from the same link you tried earlier.
I hope this will work fine now.

  • [SOLVED]Trouble installing tiling WM

Ok so iv read the wiki's iv read the board posts and iv googled but i still failed in installing wmii, openbox, and even gnome (i succeeded with xfce4). I thought i had enough skill to handle arch but it seems like i was dead wrong so really my question here today is where did you all accumulate your *nix skill? Iv been using Linux (ubuntu) for a good 2 years now, iv manuals about linux, and im comfortable with the cli but i dont think iv been reading the correct manuals because im not really understanding anything of whats going on when i was trying to configure everything to run properly. So if theres like some super-duper amazing website or book that helped you become "leet" with linux please just post it here. Also i really want to try out a tiling WM just because i love the concept of them and i like things to be small and quick (one of the reasons i left ubuntu) but i cant for the love of god install one correctly so maybe im missing a doc that i should be looking at or maybe i should just re-install arch and start from scratch and see if it was something with my install thats messing everything up for me. so to sum it all up: where can i get more *good* info about linux (arch to be specific) and/or tiling WM's and im sorry if i seem like a total noob (and i know i am) but im just trying to learn more and better myself

Actually my reading of things is the OP knows how to search and read.
    And that's about it?
About the only advise I can give you is to try and understand what you're reading. Don't fall into the trap of "let's copy this whole hunk of script, if it seems to do what I want then yay!". If you can't even install Gnome on Arch successfully, there's 2 possibilities:-
    1. You don't understand what you're doing.
    2. Your computer/system reveals some corner case bugs.
1 can be fixed. 2 I'm afraid you'd have to live with (its less likely though if you've been using Ubuntu for 2 years...).
I understand what im reading and always try to actually understand what im typing into a terminal before running whatever command. Also im sorry for the crappy OP it was 1:30 AM and i was almost asleep. I think im just going to re-install Arch and see if that helps, i have a feeling i messed up a config file somewhere.
