EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED : computer was in DMZ and receiving lots of DNS requests for an unknown reason...

Because some server names had dns in it. And one was root-servers.net which is a root server for dns. Also, see edit of previous post. And thanks for trying to help me btw

[SOLVED]ping and incoming connections not working
Problem: eg.
$ ping google.com
PING google.com (209.85.148.99) 56(84) bytes of data.
no answer so i press ctrl+c, i get:

i can't use any torrent client because it accepts connections only then i start client(tested with deluge and transmission). eg. i start deluge->torrent start upload->later it won't start upload, but it sends to server info, server get that info(i tested in situation there i'm the only seeder and there is only one leecher which is under my control)
thoughts about that: i searched for solution for a long time, i very doubt that is a software issue, i think it's hardware problem(and about hardware i know nothing). why i think so:
possible cause of problem:
1. kernel upgrade to 3.0=with ubuntu live cd same problems, so it can't be it
2. i deleted windows xp, windows writes something to network card or bios?
3. hardware problem
before problems started i not did something big, so problem could cause only these 3 items.
i don't have firewall, there was one but for testing purposes i deleted it.
network card Realtek RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet, driver is latest(but tested and older version)
i tested with 2 different ISP's. one connected over lan and another just my phone connected as modem over usb cable. in both cases ping not work and all other network services works ok, i can browse, ftp works, i can download torrent(if torrent download starts with program start, not later), skype works, internet radio works, etc.
question: what to do, to make torrents work as they worked earlier? i have this problem about few weaks, in past 3 years i don't have such problems.

Same problems with different ISP so it's not my ISP problem.

[SOLVED] Netcfg and Wireless connections stopped working
I've been using Netcfg for a while now on my laptop and I've had no problems connecting to the internet until last week. Since the last pacman update I did (around Wednesday I believe) my laptop has not been able to connect to the internet again. It doesn't recognize my wireless interface even though it did before, and netcfg gives me a strange output when I try to connect to my network and tells me the network is not available. I've gone through the steps in the wiki about installing wireless drivers and I've redone that but it still does not work.
Here is what Netcfg gives me when I try to connect:

I know the network is present because when I boot into Windows on this same laptop it connects without any issues. I think it is a driver issue but re-installing the driver has not helped so I'm wondering if anyone can help me out.

The reason that the interface is set to eth0 is because it is the only interface for which netcfg tries to connect to the network. If I use wlan0 as the interface it tells me it doesn't exist, and before I had the problem, the interface I used was eth1, which now netcfg says does not exist either.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've tried to connect to the network with two different netcfg profiles, one using wpa_supplicant and the other with configsection. Both give me the same "WPA Authentication/Association Failed" error. There was one try with the wpa_supplicant profile that gave the a "network not found" error but afterwards it went back to the original error. Here are my profiles if needed.

iPhone 5 was updated (version unknown), and now screen shows 'Connect to iTunes. When we try to do this, we get message 'iTunes could not contact the iPhone software update server because you are not connected to the internet'.
Please tell me how I fix this problem.
ThanksYes, the reason you are getting the error is the phone cannot provide internet for the laptop and then update itself. It would lose connection as you erase the firmware and try to update. You need to connect the computer to the Internet in some other fashion before you connect the phone to try and fix the update problem. As Ocean20 says, and I completely agree, how would you think you could use the Internet connection of a device that is not only going to turn off and on, but is going to get completely wiped of firmware and restored? It would completely remove the device from the equation here. Does that make sense to you?

BevLink not included. However, the Author entry (currently reading 'unknown') is carried in the 'itunes:author' tag in the feed; and the Description for the overall podcast is carried in the 'itunes:summary' tag, both in the top section of the feed between the 'channel' tag and the first 'item' tag.
As you're using Libsyn you will probably have to work out where in that you enter the details which appear in those tags (as I assume you won't be able to edit the feed itself), and I'm afraid I can't advise on that. -

After installing and configuring App fabric 1.1 and ran Get-CacheHost command to check the status of the nodes. Its showing the Status of the nodes as UNKNOWN. Some time caching service is crashing with Timeout exception and socketException connecting
to cache nodes. Below is the exception from the even log. When I see the debug log I could see timeout exceptions connecting to cache nodes. Here is the error in debug log. I appreciate your help on this. Thanks.

I rented a movie via Itunes on my PC but half-way through the download recieved a "An unknown error has occured (-50)" notification. This is not my first rental, and I have verified my network and all connections to be good. I have rebooted Itunes and resumed the download of the movie only to receive the same error code. Has the movie file been corrupted? Can I recover the rental even though the time has elapsed? Will I be charged?
Did you figure this out? I haven't rented a movie in this new iTunes yet and saw one tonight I wanted to rent. Same fricken thing is happening to me. I hate this new iTunes, and I really hate that there are problems like this....why the heck do they have to fix something that isn't broken and break it? This just really stinks.

My older model Apple TV won't connect to iTunes and does not show up in my devices list in iTunes. I have two Apple TVs in my house and I can't imagine that this is part of the problem but I mention it just in case. My other Apple TV is brand new and it connects to iTunes just fine. I've tried most of the "fixes" and one says to Force Sync but I can't since Apple TV isn't in my device list. Another "Fix" said to Navigate the Apple TV to Settings --> Downloads --> Check for Downloads, but when I tried that there was no option for "Downloads" under the Settings Heading. I'm at a loss. Please help. Could this be an issue with too many authorized devices? We have three iPads, two iPhones, laptop, desktop, two Apple TVs, and an iPod and most of them are syncing the same music playlists and whatnot... have I run out of rope?
hi, just posting to everyone in general..its not you, or your apple tv, it is itunes.
ok, ive had the exact same issues for weeks now, as with everyone i had done the lastest upgrade and no longer could see/sync my gen 1 appleTV.........so, i removed the upgrade and went back to the prev version, even though it was showing in my prefs under appleTV, it still wouldnt show in the side panel under devices....i gave up.
This week i was determined to get it to work! So i started from scratch, totally removed itunes and started back with version 9 and upgrade each version from there, i had no luck, ic clicked find appleTvs but it wouldnt....however i just d/l version 9.2.0.61 and BINGO!. No sooner has it opened and up popped the side panel devices list, showing my appleTV..all ready to be synced etc. I immediately panicked of course haha..and set it all up and its working perfectly.
...Only catch now is that this older version will not be compatiable with my iphone, which i do keep music on...seems we cant win. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr this will be the same for all the latest apple products.
Apple needs to allow more than one version of itunes per pc OR perhaps they could get their act together and include all of the millions of APPLETV GEN1 owners in there latest upgrading..after all, THEY made the product and THEY do sell the movies/tv shows, perhaps they could stop making all the upgrade all about the music only!......on which i might add why not incluse movies/tv shows in icloud! yet another upgrade that should be included in the APPLETV GERNERATION 1!..yes we do still exist!
at the very least, im happy ive managed to get all my movies etc onto the apple tv, where ill keep them and from now on d/l directly onto my apple tv. I usually d/l to my laptop and then send them to the appletv but while trying to get all this sorted i did a test, i d/l a movie using my appletv hoping it would somehow let itunes "find" it and getting it to show up in my device list, but it didnt work, however it did sync/send the movie to itunes.. so at least i could save a back up copy.

I'm afraid you'll have to get the phone serviced, dropping the phone must have damaged additional parts inside the phone.
But Apple will not service the phone anymore, opening the phone and replacing the battery should only be done by authorized personal, not by users.
You'll have to look for a 3rd party repair shop and see if they can fix this, sorry. -
Yes, my cousins iPod is disabled. It says "ipod is disabled, connect to iTunes", I did that and it will not connect to iTunes, because it needs the pass code. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Macbook pro 15 unexpectidly shuts down
