What happened to distrowatch? When I go to distrowatch.com I get a page saying this:

I can get to distrowatch at this address: http://distrowatch.serve-you.net/ but alot of stuff is missing
I looked on Google and a lot of people are saying that it is working for them. Does anyone else have this problem or know why it is happening? It seems to me that distrowatch would have made an announcement if they were stopping the site or moving to a new address. Thanks

Both http://www.distrowatch.com and http://distrowatch.serve-you.net work for me. I am in the US in NY.
I did notice earlier this year that Distrowatch stopped rendering correctly with Adblock running. I like Distrowatch enough and their ads aren't too bad so I decided to whitelist them. I have a feeling though that this is unrelated to your problem...

This might be a silly question but I cannot find an answer anywhere,
What happens if I ctl-c while pacman is removing or installing packages?
Will I be left with a half installed package?
for example, I was removing the 'gnome' group the other day and cancelled the process midway through the removal, pacman then later did not think that 'gnome' was installed, so I had to re-install gnome to remove everything again, if that makes sense?
Last edited by jrussell (2013-05-12 18:37:06)It makes sense that you thought that you had to re-install gnome to remove it, because you do not seem to know about the group search options for -Q (man page), as well as you need to be told, that you can put a pacman command in a pacman command ("pacman -Xy $(pacman -Nm)") to let pacman tell pacman what to do.
You might but you should not end up with a half installed package. It seems like C-c is a rather friendly request by the shell, asking the process politely to stop whatever it is doing, as soon as it is done with critical things. (Look up "signals" in Unix). If pacman is a well-made piece of software, it should not leave half its dirt behind.
In your case you were only removing a group. There is no reference to installed groups (or at least not as far as I know), there are only packages in that group. I guess the dependencies of those packages were not in that group, so those were left installed upon interrupting pacman so impolitely. -

I've asked this in several places, in desparation I will try this forum.
So what happened to gnome-keyring-manager? There used to be a nice UI to manage keyrings, but I can't find it anymore? Has it been removed from Gnome? Or from the Arch distribution of Gnome? Or is it in a separate package?

I think you are asking if Alacarte disables the menu editor that comes with Gnome. If that is indeed your question, my experience is that Alacarte does disable functionality of the Gnome menu editor.

That has been my experience as well. If you read the notes for the Alacarte package at AUR you will see others have similar problems. For some, it works (?).
One option might be to try to make your own 0.8 PKGBUILD (rather than the current 0.9) from the information in the comments. Maybe it will help, maybe not.

[SOLVED] What happened to gedit-plugins-extra?
The gedit-plugins-extra package used to be in the AUR but is no more available there lately. A quick search with pkgfile revealed that it should be in community now:
$ pkgfile LaTeXPlugin.gedit-plugin
community/gedit-plugins-extra
Yet I cannot find such a (x86_64) package neither on my up-to-date mirror nor via "Package Search" on the home page.

That is correct. Quoting the email I sent to aur-general:
I removed it from [community] because upstream stopped updating the plugin collection around two years ago. Most of the plugins included in the last release (2.24.1) are badly outdated by now. The preferable course of action is to add individual packages to the AUR for each of the plugins. (Packages for the latex and autotab plugins already exist.)

[SOLVED]What happened with the partitionmanager package?
Today i updated KDE (to 4.7) by uninstalling/installing all the desktop. When i was reinstalling the apps i notice that partitionmanager is no longer available to download from extra.
Why is that?

Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.

Try turning off Bluetooth.

I updated the new IOS 4.3.3 on my IPad, since then i Am having trouble accesesing any App. What happens is i cant enter it or other wise it closes as soon as i enter it...i need help solving tris inconvenient.
I have the same problem and I haven't solved it yet. On Friday I plugged in my iPad to my work computer after not having done so for quite a while. Today I went onto the work computer and discovered I had not updated iTunes before plugging in the iPad (and which I cannot do without an administrator password). I guess I will update iTunes and try again when I can get the guy to show up with the password. I hope that works. The reset idea does not work on mine.
Was your iiTunes updated before you tried? Have you found any solution yet? Mail and some internet apps still work but games, notes applications, spreadsheets etc. just begin to open and close immediately.
If anybody has answers I'd love to get some clues. -

What happened and how to solve this camera roll problem?
I don't know what happened to my ipad but the camera roll went crazy. The pictures in my camera roll appear from the first picture down to the latest which is weird because it should be from the latest up to the first picture I've taken instead.
The photos in the Camera Roll album should show from the earliest at the top, with the latest photo at the bottom - that's the order that mine show in

I recently updated all of the computers in the house to itunes 11. Now when we try to import songs from homesharing, we are unable to. What happened to the conveniently located "import song" button on the old version of itunes. Please help an old mother out please!

solved the issue today. first sync with itunes, so all the stiff you bought on the mobile will be backuped.
1. uncheck sync music in itunes and sync. all the music will be erased from mobile device
2. check music player on the mobile device. just the unwanted songs will still be there
3. go on the iphone to settings, general, usage, music player. there is just a few mb from the remaining unwanted songs. swipeleft and erase the content. switch iphone off and on again
4. repeat step 2. there will be no data. otherwise repeat step 3
5. check sync music in itunes and sync. all the music will be back again but not the unwanted songs. -

then gets an error while trying to commit a third one. It can't rollback the
first two because they've already been committed. Is it up to the client to
perform forensics in this case, or is it too rare to account for?

This is exactly the problem that is solved by "2 phase commit" of transactions.
The JTA transaction manager will not tell the 3 resources to commit. Instead,
it will tell them all to "prepare" - it is the resources' responsibility to
confirm that they have prepared only when they have written the post transaction
stast to disk and KNOW that they can commit, if required, in the future.
When all 3 prepares have returned OK, the transaction manager writes a record to
disk confirming its decision to commit. Only then will it go ahead and tell the
resources to commit.
Hence, in your secnario, the 3rd prepare will fail and the transaction manager
will tell the other 2 resources to roll back.
Of course, if something catastrophic happened (disk head crash, fire...) then a
commit may fail, leaving the results inconsistent as in your scenario. This is
termed a "Heuristic completion" and you need to send in the DBAs to take care of
the forenzics that you are worried about.

ThanksTake each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved. Some of these steps are only possible if you have control over the wrieless router.
Step 1
Turn Wi-Fi off and back on.
Step 2
Restart the router and the computer. Many problems are solved that way.
Step 3
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
Step 4
Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
Step 5
In OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and fix the issues listed in the Summary, if any.
Step 6
Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.

I have been trying for weeks and still cannot get sign in.....it is only happening on my DESKTOP....I can sign in on my phone and on my tablet....also on my sons HP laptop or his HP desktop. The first thing that I would do is try another browser, i.e. Internet Explorer. If your password doesn't work in it, I suggest contacting Ebay Customer Service. This is most likely a software problem; not a hardware problem.
