[SOLVED] Where can I find log of checks taking place while booting.

Dear all,
I finally managed to install Archilinux in a Virtualbox Virtual Machine.
Everything seems fine and the OS boots correctly, but when the system is loading I can see that one of the checks performed at boot
returns a FAILED message. The problem is that it is so fast I can't read it.
I also notice a Yellow message but, again I can't read what it is about.
I know it might sound a silly question, but is there a way to se a log of these checks?
Thanks a lot in advance for the help!
Cheers,
Luca
TLDR: all the solutions proposed below are valid (and well worth reading the links for learning purpose). If you just want the list of the failed actions, you can get it with the command
sudo journalctl -b | grep -i failed

You can start by reading https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Scrollback_buffer
However, heed Karol's warning by reading https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Di … t_Messages
Good luck!
edit: Oh, darn.  Karol beat me to it lol

The bug report has been filed.
I took a look at this link:  http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/9771
The mention the solution is to place libltd.so.3 in /usr/lib
I do not think hplip is in the AUR

  • Where can I find log files for users logging into network homes?

We're running an open directory master and are using AFP on another server to host our network homes.  I was asked to find a log of users logged into their network homes on a specific date and I'm starting to wonder if that's actually a log that exists.  I've checked the OD logs and in one of the password logs I can see users have authenticated but it doesn't say specifically to what (so it just lists they logged into something).  The AFP logs just show specific files being accessed without usernames.  So what am I missing?  What log would I check?
    Thanks for your help!!

File Zilla is a dedicated ftp client that you use to upload your published web site to your server.
I would suggest that you perhaps consider using Cyberduck instead as this might be easier.  Cyberduck is a dedicated ftp client in the same way that File Zilla is.
To be able to upload what you need is your published website.  Open iWeb and select the site that you want to publish and then select publish to a local folder and your site will then be published to your desktop.  You then upload this to your server using Cyberduck or File Zilla.

  • [SOLVED] Where can I find GRUB 2 (v1.98) already compiled ?

I found this thread and someone mentioned at the bottom:
    menuentry "Arch" {
    loopback loop /iso/archlinux-2009.08-netinstall-x86_64.iso
    set root=loop
    linux /boot/vmlinuz26 lang=en locale=en_US.UTF-8 archisolabel=ARCHISO_OHD8FOH5 ramdisk_size=75%
    initrd /boot/archiso_pata.img
I would like to try it in order to properly boot Arch from a USB stick (formatted as FAT) because it keeps complaining that the "boot device" didn't show up after 30 seconds. Thank you.
Last edited by DSpider (2010-03-25 20:52:13)

FAT because the USB stick will be used for installing Arch, WinXP and running Parted Magic and a few other utilities. I would change it to ext2 but GRUB 0.4.5a doesn't want to boot it properly. Also, FAT for cross compatibility. I would like to use it as a storage device for my Windows setup too not just Linux.
Damn this stupid bug. Can you please do a pacman -S grub2 and upload it somewhere ? Like www.imagehost.org for instance.

  • HT1373 where can i find songs that could not download while adding to my library?

While copying songs to my library, some of them did not copy because of an error. It said, I could go to the Apple Store to see the list and I assume find out why it did not sync to my iphone but I could not locate it. Please provide some direction. Thanks

    Hello victorng34
You would need to check those songs on your main computer to see what Apple ID is associated with it. As long as you have Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases check, you should see everything associated with that Apple ID.
Downloading past purchases from the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store

  • Where can I find a log of action center/security?

I have a message in Action Center under security that says it has found a malware on my computer.
Where can I find a log of which file and location it was?
It only states the malware-name. No location or filename.
Also note that this is not my antivirus (system center endpoint protection) who located the malware. And it was not the mrt.exe either. I checked that log and it is clean.

I don't have Win 7 right now, but in Win 8 you can check archived messages option on lect side when you browse to :
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Action Center
    Can you check this ?
I don't think we have separate logging for action center.

  • Syntax errors on LinkedIn - need to copy error console log. Where can I find it?

LinkedIn has been generating multiple compatibility errors since Firefox upgrade to 3.4 and now 3.6.13. I can see the errors in the error console but the console won't let me save or print the full report.
Where can I find this error log file? I've searched in the folders under applications and Mozilla Firefox but don't really know what to look for in that folder. Nothing looked like a .log or error reports of any kind.
Anyone know where to find this file or better yet; how to set up Firefox to have this compatibility go away when on the LinkedIn site?
    Thanks!

  • When I click "about this mac" to check on my storage, I get a number of different sections music, movies, etc. but also I get a section called backups, where can I find the files in this section?

When I click "about this mac" to check on my storage, I get a number of different sections music, movies, etc. but also I get a section called backups, where can I find the files in this section?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
All the storage in "Backups" is taken up by local snapshots, which are made automatically in all MacBooks, MacBooks Pro and MacBooks Air with OS X Lion or newer and Time Machine turned on.
See > http://pondini.org/TM/30.html I recommend you to leave them there, because they will be removed automatically. However, if you want, you can disable or remove them manually if you want, even if there's no reason to do this. Have a look at the link above for more information

  • Where can i find the start up log?

when arch boot's up the deamons i get a [Failed] but it goes so fast.. and the boot is on 1024X768 so i cant see who failes... and then when x start's it clears the console.
where can i find the boot log file? (i looked in /var/logs i have no idea which one)
    thanks

MadTux wrote:dmesg: boot messages generated by the kernel
    /var/log/daemon.log: messages generated by daemons
/var/log/kernel.log: messages generated by the kernel
MadTux:  None of the above log files have the same information in them as a traditional "boot.log"
Depending on what you're looking for, dmesg and the like are often no help whatsoever.

  • HT6533 Where can I find the third party app? I'm really in trouble that I can't record and check my blood  glucose. Of cause I exported the data from app, but It's not readable for me. Please reply ASAP and give me other solution.

Where can I find the third party app?
I'm really in trouble that I can't record and check my blood  glucose.
Of cause I exported the data from app, but It's not readable for me.
Please reply ASAP and give me other solution.

You find third-party apps in the App Store. What app are you looking for? Due to problems, Apple removed the ability to record that information in Health. You can always go back to whatever you used before three weeks Health was released. Why can you not check and record your blood glucose? I would assume you check it using blood samples and a glucose meter which has nothing to do with your phone. You should be able to record it in any number of apps, from Notes to purpose made third-party apps.

  • Where can I find Installer and uninstaller log files in JSE 6?

Where can I find Installer and uninstaller log files in JSE 6?

For the installer log file, search for Sun_Java_Studio_Enterprise_6_2004Q1_install, or some portion of that.
To find Java ES component product log files, search on Sun_ONE.
You can also search for the timestamp that is part of each log file name. It is of the format MMddhhmm (Month/day/hour/minute)
Refer also to the Troubleshooting chapter of the Installation Guide for additional details on reports and log files used by Java SE

Where can I find the log file / more details?

    Hello rene,
    2 ways for accessing log:
    1) browse portal filesystem : \usr\sap\J2E\JC00\j2ee\cluster\<server instance>\log\
    2) use sap log applications
I suggest you to use logviewer or visual admin(it contains logviewer) applications. It will display formated logfile and you will be able to filter on severity / User Name / date / .......
if you are using visual admin, just connect with Visual Admin then browse to  <server name> / services / log viewer then  again <server name> \usr\sap\J2E\JC00
j2ee\cluster\server0\log and then click on defaultTrace.trc
it is pretty the same navigation when using logviewer
    Kind Regards
