[SOLVEDCannot login after update despite correct username and password

I updated today after last updating two or three days ago and after a reboot, everything starts up fine and I'm left at the LightDM login screen.
When I type in my password, it shows a black screen for a second or so and then goes back to the login screen. It doesn't show any errors or anything and I can't switch to a virtual terminal to try and see what's going on (though I am downloading the Arch Linux ISO since I lost my CD).
My user shell is zsh and both /bin/zsh and /usr/bin/zsh are listed in /etc/shells (since I know another person had a similar-ish problem).
I use openbox but I also tried logging into awesome and i3 sessions without any luck.
EDIT: To anyone else having this problem, the solution here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 3#p1326033 fixed it for me.

EDIT: As far as the ConsoleKit question goes, no. My xinitrc is just `exec openbox-session` and ConsoleKit is not referenced at all in my openbox autostart/environment files. Plus, that wouldn't explain why this is the first boot to get this error.

  • Can't login on skype with right username and password

Try to reset all Skype settings. Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Next go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder. Restart Skype. N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

  • Script Updater to change username and password

Can the script updater change the username and password for a bunch of test? I tried using the Global search and replace but it was not able to find the string. Please help?

If the password is stored in the test it's self you can find it by opening the test file xxx.mom and preform there a search and replace.
Perhaps it's better to connect the password to a variable by connecting it to a databank source. So the password is stored only once. Saves a lot of maintainance.

  • How to login owa using URL embedding username and password?

    Hi, guys
Whether can users login O365 owa using url embedding username and password? Such as  https://mail.mycompany.com/owa/....username=myalias...pwd=password... ?
    I found a post http://blog.leederbyshire.com/2012/10/12/how-to-login-to-owa-2010-by-passing-credentials-in-the-url-querystring/
    But it doesn't work.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I don't think we can login Office 365 OWA using url embedding username and password.
The post you found may be a way to login OWA 2010. As mentioned in the post you provided, we need to use code to support with the URL
    https://yourserver.yourdomain.com/owa/?un=yourusername&pw=yourpassword#sthash.cuiZTz5Y.dpuf, not just a simple
    URL.
There is a location in the blog you mentioned:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\Owa\auth\logon.aspx
It's a location on a computer which installed Exchange server. As stated in the blog, we need to insert the code into the logon.aspx
file and then login OWA with the URL.
However, for Office 365 OWA which uses a cloud based server, we can do nothing to change the logon.aspx file for Office 365 OWA. That's why I don't think we can do the trick.

  • Can't log in on application (PC - Win7) - correct username and password; works on the web page

I have a big problem. I cannot log in on the Skype application on my PC (Win 7). The password is correct and so is the user name. I've tried logging in via both my microsoft, skype and facebook accounts but it doesn't work. The strange thing is that it works in the internet page. I've tried to change password many times but it doesn't resovle the issue. When logging in with the Skype account I'll get the message "Could not connect" (In Swedish). When logging in with the Facebook and Microsoft account I'll get the message "Sorry, we don't know your loggin information - Please controll your Skype-name and password". The Skype application say it is up to date when using the function "Search for updates" in the "Help" drop down list.

I've got the same problem. The same on one PC I've got 6.11 version ... and uninstall/download & install reseled the problem BUT, on anoter PC I have 6.20 version, and that one did not sigh me up, untill I have clicked recovery/get email/clicked on received link.  - That is strange and annoing, but, even more unfear and discusting: - The version 6.20 also replays 'You have latest version'!  And on skype site it is not shown up the current version, which is today 6.21.59.104  My opinions: 1: it is inappropriate to disallow old version to see the newest version number                      2: the same even with more reasonability applied to 'still suppoted version', as 6.20 I guess is for today!                      3: What is it the way to restrict access to user account WITHOUT any explanation why!!! - it must say 'it is old version and we closed acces to our site; update to current, which is ....'(if Skype comunity have trouble to prepare a page with such message as a redirection for not-up-to-day version I could help; or my children could ... or it is an issue to place it ?!)

  • Reporting Services username and password prompting

We have several branch office locations and one reporting services server. All of the branch office locations can access the reporting services server, but we have one location for the passed week, each time they make a connection to this server, it prompts
them for a username and password and will not allow them to connect even if the correct username and password is correct.
I have tried adding the server to the IE intranet/trusted site list. Set IE security on all zones to automatically logon with current username and password.
What is strange is that this is the only branch office site that is having this issue. It is almost like kerberos is broken for this site location only.
DOes anyone has any suggestions what could be causing this problem for all computers in this one location. Nothing has changed on their local servers nor have we pushed any updates to the machines.

    Hi bubba1984,
As per my understanding, I think this issue is caused by Kerberos authentication. Kerberos is an authentication protocol that allows clients that create authentication tokens to associate a specific destination to that token. In the failure case, there is
a mismatch between the destination specified in the token and the report server process configuration. Due to this mismatch, the underlying Kerberos authentication scheme supported by Windows prevents report server from authenticating the user.
To fix this issue, please try to remove RSWindowsNegotiate and ensure RSWindowsNTLM is specified in the rsreportserver.config file. For more details, please take the following article as reference:

    Hope this helps.

  • Single sign-on and different usernames and passwords

    Hello,
I am building a Portal with WLPS 3.5 and WLS 6.0. I tried to get
information about the background of single sign-on.
I understand, that I need a Realm (i.e. LDAP Realm) to authenticate the
user for the first login to the portal (with username and password).
Now I would like to integrate my webmail-programm (to get emails from
Lotus Notes via Internet) as a portlet.
For my understanding the user has to authorizate to get access to webmail.
Therefore I create a ACL for webmail and this ACL is assigned to my
    security Realm.
I would like the portlet to show after login the number of mails for the
specific user. But where are the username and password for webmail stored
and how are they received and forwarded?
I understand that my ACL included all users that have access to webmail
(i.e. all users). But I only want emails for the specific user.
Does WLS get all usernames and passwords while the first login? Do I have to
implement a algorithmen to get the specific username and password for the
    requested resource in my portlet?
Has anyone solved a similar problem or can tell me where I can get more
information. I read the WebLogic Security document but I cant find a
    answer to my questions.
    Thanks
    Lydia

    Lydia,
I'm not an expert in this area, but I can give you a start.
As for single sign-on, there are different levels. For single sign-on across web-apps,
the servlet spec requires this (section 12.6 of th 2.3 spec) and therefore Weblogic
    does this.
What you are talking about is single sign-on across back-end applications through
a web-app. BEA has partnered with Securant (just acquired by RSA) to provide this
kind of functionality. Browse to http://www.rsasecurity.com/products/ and look
at the ClearTrust product. BEA has also partnered with Netegrity (www.netegrity.com)
with their SiteMinder product. Neither is included in the Weblogic license. I'm
sure either vendor would be excited to explain how their product will solve your
problem if you give them a call.
As for where the username and passwords are stored, that is up to the realm. If
you are using the default WLPS RDBMSRealm, the username and encrypted password
are stored in the WLCS_USER table. If you are using LDAPRealm, they are stored
    in your LDAP server.
    Hope this was useful!

Can someone explain where the usernames and passwords for a user are
stored (all in the LDAP-realm or a RDBMS-realm?) When a user access the

  • CallbackHandler  - username and password token

    Hi,
I use a CallbackHandler and server_security_config.xml on the server to authenticate and authorize the user.
I get the correct username and password token on the server and do my validation directly in:

    throws PasswordValidationCallback.PasswordValidationException
    System.out.println("AuthenticationValidator public boolean validate");
    PasswordValidationCallback.PlainTextPasswordRequest req = (PasswordValidationCallback.PlainTextPasswordRequest) request;
    System.out.println("Username: " + req.getUsername());
    System.out.println("Passowrd: " + req.getPassword());
    // check with database!
// return false; // not OK
    return true; // OK
I don't want to use a JAAS Login module.
    The auth works fine.
Now I have a big and a little problem.
1.) I need the username (String username = req.getUsername();) from xwss in my service implementation class. But how can I transfer this value??
I have a javax.security.auth.callback.CallbackHandler class and no Logicalhandler with a MessageContext object.
    2.) My second question:
If the authentication fails AuthenticationValidator returns return false; and the client gets a SoapFault Exception. It is possible to catch this exception and throw a user defined exception?
    Please helped me, thanks!!

One for each member of the family... You would more than likely get more purchases because it would be more convenient... If peoplle could make User Accounts on iPad it would be so much better!
    What does everyone else think??
    Thanks!

Just login to Amazon, Netflix and other sites in Safari. For each site after I entered the username and password, then after I pressed the "Log In" button, a pop-up message box appears:
                                  Save This Password?
You can view and remove saved
                           passwords in the Passwords &
                         AutoFill section of Safari settings
                                       Save Password
                                  Never for This Website
                                             Not Now
This pop-up message is new after the iOS 7 upgrade that just started to appearing in the last few hours.

  • Firefox keep asking for proxy moz-proxy username and password

Windows 7, latest firefox. When I go to certain websites (like amazon.com), it keeps asking me The proxy moz-proxy:... user name and password. Entered CORRECT username and password and doesn't work. Keep asking again and again until I click cancel. Quite for couple of minutes and then back again. Not all sites, some sites have no problem at all. Using system proxy.
Tried reset firefox and lots of config setting on the web, nothing works. Can someone help?!
    Thanks.
