1. How can I start an IE from java (in another task for sure)? and with a specified url?
2. How can I set, that in a Panel, which includes TextPanes, Areas etc, that if I press TAB, then not 'write' a tab-character into the Textarea/panel, but focuses on the next component?
3. How can I set a button's mnemonic (or 'shortcut') to CTRL-key? So not ALT, but CTRL!?
4. If I display an html URL (file) in an JEditorPane, and if this file is encoded with UTF-16, then how can I make it to show well, and not write rectangles after(almost) every character?

This aint homework, and I know you wont write the HW(even if this isn't that) for me.
About starting IE: I have a button ('preview'), with I want to show the User an html file. But my problem is that when I write the html file out from a string, then the OS converts some characters to it's default codepage etc. So I tried to write out the html file in UTF-16 encoding, and then an IE showed well the html file, but a JEditorPane didn't (as I mentioned in the last point or so). I tried also latin2 etc encodings, but then question marks(?) came in places of characters which couldn't be converted into proper format by the OS. I know why is this, but I couldn't really find solution for my problem.
Keyevent CTRL and stuff. I've read the doc (maybe not fully), and I found that these shortcut-thingies are OS-dependant, and in win they're ALT. Couldnt find anyway how to change them or so.
Focusing next TextArea/TextPane etc if TAB pressed: maybe there's an easy was (which is known bye someone), or I have to write listeners? (haven't written textpanes/areas listener already).
So I read docs, and this aint my homework, I'd be glad if someone would help me and not just nag, sorry.

My Powerbook has a 60Gb drive, and after a year of use is down to about 12Gb. So it's pretty normal after several years of use, downloading of music and photos, to use up a lot of hard disk space.
If there are any applications that you know you're not going to use, such as Garageband, or iDVD, you can just drag them off to the trash, and that will free up a few Gigs. Before you do that, you might want to make sure you've got your install disk, so that if you ever desire to reinstall them, you can.
A nifty freeware utility that can help you see where you big files are, is called WhatSize. It can be found here:

To change a file's icon, click on the file/application that you'd like to change, and hit "Command I" (Command is the key with the Apple on it). This will bring up the Info window.
Now select the picture (or icon) that you desire to become your file's new Icon, and copy it with either Edit > Copy or Command C.
Now click on the icon displayed in the Info window (just to the left of the file's name). The file will get a faint hightlight around it. Select Edit > Paste (or you may need to hit Command V), and the picture/icon you had copied will now be the icon for your file.
Close the Info window, and you're in business.

I have what is hopefully a quick and easy question. I know almost nothing about this stuff so go easy on me . All I need to do is find out if my DHCP is enabled. I'm having problems with my Xbox 360 and one of the possible problems is this DHCP thing. However I have no idea how to find the settings for my router on my computer. If it helps I have a Wirless model BEFW11S4. Thanks in advance for any help.
You need to access your router to check if the DHCP is on. To access the router open your browser and type in http://192.168.1.1 into the address field and hit enter. That should open the routers log on screen and by default the user is left blank (some routers it is admin) and the password is abmin. If you changed your routers password as you should for security reasons then use that password. That will bring you to your routers user interface and on the main set up page should be your DHCP.

Pro Tools convert to Logic Newbie some simple question for logic users
Hey guys, I am a recent convert from Pro Tools! and There were just some simple questions I thought some of you may be able to help me out with. I am using Logic 9.1.1
1) After I set up a multi timbral software instrument (in this case MOTU Symphonic Library) how do I set up midi channels to trigger the individual sounds in the instrument. (in pro tools I used to create a midi track then send an output of that track to that particular soft synth)
2) How do I set up a and forgive my Pro Tools vocab but basically I want to set up a reverb channel on an aux track have it receive on a bus so I can send other tracks to that particular bus.

In pro tools i would usually need to create a midi track with the output set the the nord and an audo aux track to hear it What would I do in order to record midi from my nord stage?
To record, just select a non-audio track, hit record and play the keyboard. The notes will get recorded into a region.
If you want to play it back to the Nord Stage as well, then it makes sense to set the Nord up as a MIDI device in your templates, so you can just add the Nord to a track and not worry about what MIDI ports it's on etc. Open the environment, create a New -> Instrument, called it "Nord Stage", set the MIDI port and MIDI channels it's on, and sav your template.
Now, when you start a song, to sequence the Nord, you just assign the Nord instrument to a track (by for instance, right clicking on a track and choosing your Nord instrument from the list of environment obects that appears).
2) The multi instrument trick is quick and easy its great but How would I do that manually?
Lots of ways, look into your key commands, ther are all kinds of "Create track with same instrument", "Create track with next MIDI channel" and so on. There are too many ways to do this to quickly talk about here. In short, all tracks have an environment object assigned to them, whether it's an audio object, or a MIDI instrument object, and this determines where the data on the track goes.
3) How do you set up midi so that it doen'ts overwrite notes when recording over them?

I am new to TestStand and have a couple of (hopefully) easy questions. I am using TestStand 3.5.
1) I have written a couple of sub-sequences in another file that we use for common tasks. Some of the parameters we pass will always be the same variable name. Is there a way I can get that default parameter name to show up when I write the program to call this sub-sequence so I wont have to enter it each time?
2) When I run a program that calls a sub-sequence in the above file, the first time I run it, I get an error saying the resource already exists... If I open the sub-sequence file in TestStand, and then close it, it is fine after that.

TestStand has a full application interface so that you can pragmatically read parameter names and types, and populate calling programs with the right stuff. This takes some learning. There may be an easier way depending on what you are doing.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say you write a program to call the subsequence. In TestStand 4.0 ( don't have 3.5 installed) you can create a Sequence Call template step that can be used in new sequences that you program. That is, I can open a new sequence, drop a generic Sequence Call step and rename it, configure it to call your subsequence by choosing the right path, sequence file, values/expressions to be passed to the subsequence, and then I can save this step as a template (drag to the Step section of the template window). Then, when I have a brand new sequence, I can drop an instance of this template step into my sequence, with the parameter values preconfigured. Assuming all the expressions are valid, you're ready to go.

Without more information I can't help with this one. Perhaps the sequence file that contains the called subsequence is not in one of your search directories (see Configure>>Search Directories) and therefore it can't be found until you open, identify and save the calling sequence file. What error code are you getting? -
Easy Question: Illegal Start of Expression
This is a ridiculously easy question... but I am having trouble with it...
Anyway, here is the line of code that is giving me trouble:

That's it. jButton1 through jButton16 are all jButton objects (for a GUI). jButtons is an array (4 by 4) of jButton. All are global variables, the buttons are all initilized (in fact, that was the problem I had before, and why I need to put this here: otherwise I get a null pointer exception).
Surprisingly, such a simple line of code causes TONS of errors to occur. To save space, {...} * 2 means that the exception occurs twice in a row, errors are separated by comma's.
{ Illegal Start of Expression, {Not a statement, ; required} * 2} * 4, Empty statement
A similar statement (int[] test = {{1,2,3},{4,5,6}};) works perfectly fine.
Please help, doing this will reduce the size of my code to about a third of the size of the code. And then I can laugh in the faces of those people who say that I write long, and in-efficient code! MWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
However, I will keep at it, and Murphy's Law states I will find a solution 10 seconds after posting. If I do, I will edit this post, and tell you guys the answer ;)

I've read some other questions about this and I realized... Why do I not have 560mb of VRAM since I have 8GB of RAM?

I've learned by reading other topics that I can't upgrade my graphics card on my Macbook Pro because it's soldered into the motherboard or somthing like that, but please tell me if there is any way to get more video ram by chaning some setting or upgrading something else. I'd also like to know why I only have 256MB of VRAM when I have 8GB of RAM, since I have 8GB of RAM I thought I was supposed to have 560mb of VRAM...

DylanThe only two items that a user can change on a MBP are the RAM and HDD (Retinas not included). You have what the unit came with and the only way you will be able to change that is to purchase a MBP with superior graphics
If you are very much into gaming, the I suggest A PC. They are far superior for that type of application to a MBP.

So I have a problem with iTunes not letting me download anything without first responding to some security questions which I don't remember setting up, how can fix it? Oh, and it won't let me reset the questions either!
If you mean that you aren't getting the reset link, then from the page that you posted from :

Easy question - how to increase number of recent files in menu?
This is for CS5 if it matters.
I'm an infrequent Illustrator user (at best) but I have what I hope is an easy question: I want to increase number of recent files showing in the menu.
I can't find a preferece to set such as in PS and almost every other application on the face of the earth. I've tried to reset the preferences file (start Illustrator with ctrl-alt-shift held down) but I'm stuck at 4 files, which I assume is the anemic default option.
Is there an easy way to do this that Adobe has hidded somewhere? As expected, it can't be found in the help, I can't find it on the forums, or even on the net, but I do know it can be done because I can see other installs showing lots of files in the list.
thanks for any help.This might be because of a new feature that you can turn off for each object, and alltogether. When you create a new document at the bottom, make sure 'Align New Objects to Pixel Grid' is unchecked. After you have created a new file, you can still go into the 'TRANSFORM' palette (SHIFT+8), use the little right top menu, and make sure 'Align New Objects to Pixel Grid' is unchecked. And if you want to get fancy with each object; you can select an object, and look at the 'TRANSFORM' palette at the bottom is a place to uncheck the 'Align to Pixel Grid' at your disposall.
Before I found this, it ruined my week.

easy question I'm sure. imac hard full (500gb) mostly from iphoto. no capacity left. what are my options? I've thought of an external drive of 1tb and then a 2nd external drive of 3tb to back up both???? please help.
Those are the options - more space is more space.
Moving the iPhoto Library is simple:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

Some basic questions on File Adapter
Hello all,
I have some basic questions on XI and File Adapter and hope you can help me. Any answer is appreciated.
1. Can I use NFS transport protocol to poll a file from a machine in the network, which is not the XI? Or do I have to use FTP instead?
2. If I understand it correctly - when using the FTP-File Adapter, XI has the role of a ftp client. I have to run a ftp server on my distant machine. XI connects to FTP-Server and polls the file.
Can it also be configured the other way round? The scenario I think of would be: FTP client installed on distant machine, which connects to FTP-Server(XI) and loads up a file. So XI would act as FTP Server.
I know this works, if I install a ftp Server on the computer my XI runs on, and use the NFS-File Adapter to observe the folder. But I want to know, if I need a second, independant ftp server for this.
3. And last but not least: When do I need the active ftp mode instead of passive?

Some generic questions on BPM of NW CE
Hi Gurus
i have over 6 years of ABAP business workflow experience and over 3 years of XI experience. Now i'm getting tough with this new stuff, BPM of NW CE. Here i have some generic questions of it:
1. How can i trigger a BPM task while a document, like a sales order , has been created in the system? is there any processes to catch the event of R3 in NWDI?
2. Can BPM consume RFC/BAPIs in R3?
3. Is it possible to make message mapping in BPM? i found there is a 'mapping' choice in the context setting of NWDI whereas it is quite simple compared with PI.
4. Can the BPM be integrated with webdynpro ABAP? or send the relevant tasks into R3 directly? Actually what i mean is , can i bypass java programing while dealing with BPM of CE, if possible.

In the first released version of SAP NetWeaver BPM it is not possible to catch events of R/3 directly. Anyway. In case you have the possibility to trigger a web service in that situation you could start off a specific (BPM) process instance that handles the situation.
The same is basically true for the question regarding RFC: In the initial version you'd need to wrap the RFC into a web service in order to consume it.
The mapping possibilities in SAP NetWeaver BPM are meant to perform data flow between different activities in a BPMN based process model. This way you could transform a message that came into the process in that way that if fits your needs in regards to the BPM process (data) context.
Bypassing Java when using SAP NetWeaver BPM would be difficult as the supported UI technology is Web Dynpro for Java. In addition the possibility to add more flexibility to your mappings by defining custom functions is based on EJB, thus again Java.
