Some limitations in the BPM studio

Hi Everyone,
I'm using the BPM/SOA Suite 11.1.1.3 and have observed a few limitations -
1. The BPMN flow trace, even when set to development mode is very limited and makes debugging difficult.
2. Even though the BPM studio is integrated with JDeveloper, the source history feature for the 'process' (*.bpmn) seems to be missing.
3. Whenever the 'implementation' for an activity is changed, all the data mappings go missing and don't come back even when you change the implementation (such as service call, human task etc.) back to original. This does make sense except when you do it by accident.
All your xpath expressions are lost and without the history feature, it's difficult to retrieve...
4. The 'process' definition is stored in a *.bpmn file which should (or is supposed to be) BPMN 2.0 compliant and theoretically, interoperable with any other BPMN tool (at LEAST at design time)
However, I see a lot of Oracle specific extensions there, much like BPEL.
Does the group have any similar experiences or observations?

I have been trying to use a Web Service as a callout from a BEA BPM process and I am getting an impression that I need to do hardcore coding to do so. I have "cataloged" the service but what next ?
There is no Visual Drag and Drop functionality so that I can drop a component into the Business Process and the Wizard helps through rest of steps (mapping , exception handling etc...)
Prove me wrong but I would love to see something in teh line of zero coding BPM modelling.

I have programmed a distributed application with java IDL.
there are a lot of CORBA objects in my application and all of those objects must registered with the same orb.
At the beginning,I launched 4 CORBA objects,which is the least number of CORBA objects needed to run my application,and the application runs well.Then I increased the number of CORBA objects gradually.But when the number of CORBA objects has been changed to 6,the application runs instably,that is, the application sometimes runs well,and sometimes it generates an error when I launched my client-side program,the error is as follow:

The COMM_FAILURE/SUN-201 means CONNECT_FAILURE.
This will happen if a client gets a reference to an object reference whose server is not yet started,or perhaps not yet initialized.

How to kill an instance process in BPM studio 6.0

Hi i'm Fabio.
I'm working on BPM Studio 6.0 and i need to complete a task.
I have an instance id process, and i need to create a new process in order to kill this istance id.
I read how to create a PAPI client (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/papi/index.html?t=modules/papi/c_Writing_Your_First_Java_PAPI_Program.html) but it doesn't work for my purpose.
First of all, i understood that i have to follow these step:
* Import the required libraries.
* Create a process service.
* Create a process service session.
* Perform operations with PAPI.
* Close the process service.
Now, i'm working on my xpdl file and i'm using the Standard Module "Fuego" and my plan is to create a process servcie, a process service session and then operate with PAPI.
But using the PAPI module include in the BPM studio 6.0 i'm no able to load the library for the session import fuego.papi.ProcessServiceSession;
so i'm worng something. Could you tell me how can menage this problem? Really do i need a session? Is possible to abort an istance process in BPM studio or i need to load my ear project in Enterprise environment and then kill my instance process? Thanks, regards Fabio.

I understood that tha activity id's format is not valid, but i obtained it just using the following function: instance.getActivityId()
Are you abel to give me some suggestion? Is it good this method to kill instance?

BPM Studio call web service deployed by R12 Intergration Repository error

Hi, I encountered a problem when calling a web service deployed by R12 Intergration Repository (SOA Gateway) w/ username/password authentication.
It seems that the BPM Studio can not pass the security information to the web service. But using SoapUI it's quite easy to call the service with no error, just set the username and password, and set the password type to PasswordText.
Under the External Resources catalog, I've set fileds in the Security tab with "Plain" Username Token, "sysadmin" Username and "sysadmin" Password, then changed the Authentication Type to "Username Token Profile". Then create a participant named sysadmin, and use this participant to run the process, but it just can't work.
Anybody can help? My colleague also posted a topic here: processRemoteException when invoke webservice from Oracle E-Business Suite but nobody answered. It would be very appreciated if sb. can fix this.

I've encounter something similar to you're problem and it was resolved by manually creating the object using the web service constructor and inputting user credentials. If you manually instantiate your web service wrapper object and set a a security profile token, it may solve your problem. You can also pass in the web service endPoint URL, if you want.

I'm not sure how to use UsernameTokenProfileSecurityPolicy, but try something like this:

response = tws.callWebServiceMethod();
I realize the security profile isn't tied anywhere to the web service, but try it anyway.
There is also some fields on the webservice, tws.setRequestHeader() that may allow you to set the username and password on the request, but this doesn't make sense to me. It shouldn't be that hard.

Slow iMovie - Does it has limitation in the amount of video files it can edit?

Dear All,
I would like to do some videoediting of holidays video with my iMac i7 12gb ram.
I have imported with iMovie my dv video and this worked fine. But starting from a certain point iMovie became really slow. Thinking of a memory issue, I added 8gb ram (now 12) but the problem persisted. So I decided to move video files from mac hdd to my gbit lan NAS, and than I got a firewire800 hdd.
I got a MyBook Studio II (http://wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=210) which I tried using first RAID1 and than to increase speed I configured into RAID0.
Now, what I noticed is that if the project has a total of:
- 29gb of video files, editing the project (move, delete, add) and play works quite fine. (project file size about:17mb)
- 53gb of video files, editing is slow (about 7sec to move or delete a clip) (project file size about:128mb)
This happens both if the video and pj files are on the iMac hdd or in the firewire one.
Does anyone of you know if iMovie has some limitations in the amount of video files it can edit, or if it is not performing correctly under certains conditions?
Furthermore I will start editing 1080/50p video since I got a new camera. Keep going with iMovie is the right way? Do you suggest other products?

It appears you have enough processor speed, memory, and hard drives.
Once these are taken care of, there are two main things that cause slowness
1) Events should be logical events. You should not dump all your footage into a single event. A project can use clips from multiple events and the performance is fine. In DV for example, an event should hold maybe two tapes maximum. If a single tape has three logical events: say Birthiday, Vacation, and Christmas, make three events.
2) if you editing feature length movies, you should use Final Cut Pro X. For short movies iMovie is fine. For movies in the middle, it is more of a judgment call. The reason is that iMovie renders everything in one pass. Final cut Pro does background rendering as you go. If this were the case for you, you would be able to edit at full speed, and you would only notice the slowness or a crash when you shared the movie.

Oracle BPM Studio 10g R3 cataloging Web Services strips special characters

Hi folks,
I have a Web Service that I'd like to invoke from an activity in my process.
When I catalog the WSDL, BPM Studio creates the associated External Resource just fine except for one small problem, namely all Simple Types that have 'special characters' in their enumerated String values are stripped clean.
Example 1:
ADSL1
ADSL2
ADSL2+
--> The plus is stripped from ADSL2+, causing BPM Studio to flag two problems caused by duplicate 'ADSL' values
Example 2:
adsl1#foo/123
--> Everything to the left of 123 is stripped leaving only '123' as a value
In fact in the BPM Studio's Editor, the only special character that is allowed is the underscore. Everything else e.g. \ # etc etc cannot be keyed in.
Has anyone come across this before? Thanks for reading :-)

BPM Studio 11.1.1.5 Install Issues

I am trying to work with BPM Studio 11g but have been unsuccessful at getting the extensions installed correctly with JDeveloper 11g. I have a fresh installation of JDeveloper 11.1.1.5 and installed the BPM Studio extensions for JDeveloper via Help>Check for updates in JDeveloper. The download and installation process appeared to work fine however when I try to utilize the BPM functionality in most circumstances nothing happens or the options are not available. The BPM Analyst role is available via Tools>Preferences>Roles and the option to create a BPM Application/Project also seems to work, but not much else. I noticed a list of warnings in the JDeveloper 'extensions' log window that suggests the extensions weren't installed correctly. I've uninstalled JDev and installed 11.1.1.3 with BPM Studio extensions and I get the same issues. I'm not sure what to do at this point.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have just started using the BPM Studio 10.1.3. I want to invoke my Oracle Service Bus proxy services from one of the activities in the BPM Process flow.
I created an external resource of type Oracle Service Bus and while trying to catalogue the OSB Component I found that only my WSDL Web Service proxy services with http transport protocol are available to be catalogued. I couldnt find the proxy services of the type Messaging Service, Any SOAP Service, Any XML Service created on Oracle Service Bus.
Am I missing anything in the configuration or is it that BPM Studio does not support these protocols(jms,mq etc).
Also, in the Studio Reference there is a mention of Oracle BPM(native) transport that BPM supports for cataloguing OSB Components apart from http and https.
What is this protocol and how and where can i configure the same to help me catalogue the other OSB proxies?

Use of BinaryData variable type in the BPM

First of all, please forgive me if I am being stupid, but...
How do I load my data into a BinaryData variable type within the BPM studio.
I can create a variable of type BinaryData but I cannot find any mention of how
to load it with the data, nor any appropriate function!

I have gone into transaction f.01 and am unable to find the component Transaction type in dynamic selections. If however you want to find Transacttion type 120 use transaction SE16n and table ANEKPV add in the transaction types (technical name BWASL) add other parameters example company code, period etc to get the related information.

How BPM studio developed(generated) project be deployed onto WebCenter?

Do as the tutorial of BPM studio, it tells to click run and there is already a test portal that can run and test the Process, I really don't know where the studio put the packaged files on the test portal environment and how it works.
My question is in our requirement purpose, we will use the the feature that oracle tells BPM can be integrated with WebCenter, so how to deploy the BPM studio developed project on WebCenter? What configuration I need to do?

If you want to run your process inside the portal (webcenter, alui), then you have to install your standalone BPM server with the workspace extension (WE). WE does the Webcenter/ALUI integration: portlets and sso. After your BPM WE configuration you can just import portlet and webservice settings with a pte file generated by the config wizard. You can use Process Community out of the box or setup your own communities.

Working with BPM Studio 5.7 as a team

1. How can I import a BPM object into my project and get it merged with my local copy of the BPM object so that I can include the changes from other team members as well not lose my changes (till I check-in to the VCS)?
2. How to import a database object into my catalog component folder, using the BPM Studio? I've been including those .xcdl files from other team members into my project folder outside BPM Studio and then opening the project in BPM Studio. this way it works. But is there any way to import those files directly into the BPM Studio project?

I tried converting a clip from XDCam to ProRes using Quicktime 7 and brought it into my ProRes sequence and it was black when played in the timeline. It does play fine on my external monitor when played in the Viewer window.

How to trigger the start of activity in BPM Studio 10.3

I am new to BPM Studio 10.3.1.
I have configured two External Resources
1)J2EE Application Server: Giving details of the application server on which my JMS Queue resides
2)JMS Messaging Service: Giving details of the JMS Queue
I want to trigger the start of BPM process/ activity execution when a message arrives on the configured JMS Queue from an external system.
How will I be able to listen to that queue?
Similarly, I would also like to know the steps to post a message to JMS through the activity in BPM Studio.
Is there any document available that helps in configuring the External Resources other than the Studio Reference guide and User guide.
Can anyone please help on this?
