Some pulldown menus are scrambled

When you fill in a form on a website there are often drop down menus. Some of these have become scrambled (i'll add screenshots). For instance on gog.com when i have to select the expiry year of my visa card the list in the dropdown box is unreadable. On easyhotels.com frontpage i have the same problem when trying to select the number of day or number of guests. On this site when i typed in the title some scrambled suggestions where shown (i'll add a screen shot).

Try disabling hardware acceleration at Firefox Menu > Options > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

  • ITunes pulldown Menus blacked out and search no work

I am using the latest version itunes on my Windows 7 PCs. One PC is fine the other all the pulldown menus are solid black and the search field does not work. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes but the problem continues. How do I do a clean install of iTunes so it does not remember my old installation without reloading Windows 7?

I uninstalled again today, used a registry cleaner, and then reinstalled but the problem remains. I cannot click in the iTunes Store search box and search for anything and all my pull down menus are all blacked out.

  • Blank pulldown menus

    blank pulldown menus in itunes

Well, at least we are seeing some light here. I forgot about Safe Mode! When I started up into that, I can see the System Preferences windows just fine... it's no longer white, and I can select what I need and make changes.
However, I have done permissions repair from every possible angle (both from HD and DVD), I have reset the PRAM, and I still get a blank Sys Prefs window on normal startup.
The only thing suggested here I have not tried is replacing the PRAM battery (since at the moment, I don't have one). That will be the next angle of attack but I'll have to wait to get one in.
Other than the battery, could this be some kind of peripheral or software conflict?
This is bugging me! I mean really.... it's just an Internet station, but one does want things to work properly nonetheless!
Thanks for the help so far.... ! It has been useful.

  • The UI text of the menus are not readable so it's impossible to work with

    Hi
I install the photoshop cs6(x64) and i have the following problem. The UI text of the menus(not the toolbar drop down menus) are not readable so it's impossible to work with. After that, I completely uninstall the cs6 photoshop and i tried to install photoshop cc(x64)-with clean install- but the problem still exist.
Also I tried to change display settings from 1600x900(recommened)but the problem still exist...I send you some photos of the menus to understand better what I mean.Any suggestions? Specifications

Right click on your desktop and choose Properties, then choose Window Color, Advanced Appearance settings...
Click on the Message Text to look at your Message Box item settings.  Is the font Segoe UI, 9 point, color black?
Also, in Photoshop, check your Edit - Preferences - Interface menu.  What is your UI Font Size there?  Try changing it to something else, closing and restarting Photoshop, then changing it back.
Lastly, you could try resetting your Photoshop preferences to defaults.  Press and hold Command - Shift - Option simultaneously (or Control - Shift - Alt if on a PC) immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop. If you get the keys down quickly enough - and you have to be really quick - it will prompt you to confirm deletion of your current preferences, which will lead to the establishment of a fresh default set. If it does not prompt you, you haven't been quick enough to get the keys down.

  • My pulldown menus and bookmarks have disappeared. How do I get them back?

Today, without doing anything to the browser, Firefox's pulldown menus and my bookmarks have all disappeared and I can't figure out how to get them back. I still have the icons for the basic tools, like the home page, but all the regular pulldowns, which I use frequently, are gone. Any ideas?
I have already downloaded the newest version of Firefox to see if this would work and it did not. Anybody?

If ALL your menus have disappeared, press F11 (you may have to hit the Fn key simultaneously). If only one or two of the menu bars have disappeared, hit F10 (again, Fn key may also be needed, depending on your settings). This will bring the menu bars back temporarily--until you click on something else on the screen. While they are showing, hit View/Toolbars and check whichever menu bars you wish to appear. Unless you have a deeper issue, this should fix the problem.

  • After updating, menus are now transparent & windows in list view black!

I recently updated via the software update control panel some security updates and a few misc. other application updates and have now discovered that Finder pull-down menus are now totally transparent with the text appearing somewhat transparent (still readable with effort, depending on background clutter on desktop). Additionally, Finder windows in list view appear with black backgrounds and the text to folders and items within that window also is black meaning that I can only see the icons and am unable to read file and folder names.
Attempts to fix this problem have thus far included permissions repair, download and reinstall the 10.4.8 combo updater and these have not worked.
I am not blaming this issue on the updates, but it coincides in timing with that and I am quite puzzled. One interesting note is that a folder now exists on the main drive directory called "Developer," which was not there before.
Does anyone have a suggestion or an idea of what this could be?

Onyx may be causing problems.  Don't use it on a non-backed up system, as cleaning caches may damage them, and make things not work.    Make sure your Spotlight indexes all drives you wish to be searchable.  Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Spotlight and add each hard drive to the Privacy section, and then remove it again.  Then click on the Spotlight menu every half hour to see when it stops saying that it is indexing.  It might take a few hours.  But once done, it should be fixed.

  • Dynamic menus are overlapping. Help needed.

    Hi guys,
please help, otherwise I'm going to hammer my head.
Dynamic menus are overlapping under in the Main menu > Pearl Academy (here is the site: http://lopearls.businesscatalyst.com/ )
I really don't know how to fix it. Please help.

You gotta change the CSS mate.
try to give the display of inline-block to your top level lists or display:block and then float them left.
Second everytime I'm in a certain page, the link related to that page somehow generates this:
    <li class> <a ....>text ....
why do you have an empty class in there? check the Menu module files and see what you've got there to fix that, you shouldn't have that. maybe some JS is messing with you too.
Assign classes through BC, or just target the lists directly with CSS.
If you want to be specific on what list you target, use this method:
    #nav > ul
    and then #nav > ul > li
this will target only the direct tag after the nav div.
man you got a lot going on there, this need a bit of clean up.
I can tell you that it takes a good chunk of CSS lines to control what you've got there.

  • The new design seems to be doubled, with the standart windows style underneath the new buttons and also the drop down menus are unreadable..

''''''i installed the new firefox and now its got a weird graphic glitch. i run windows 7 starter on my netbook and it seems as if the main window got two layers, the windows style and the new firefox style on top. the problem is, beside that some buttons dont really work, that the drop down menus are not really readable and the highlighting in the dropdown menus stays after going thought them.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

  • Accessibility problem as of Firefox 24. Menus are now unreadable.

As of Firefox 24, the default theme is no longer compatible with High COntrast Black themes in Windows. Menus are now appearing with white text over a white background, making them impossible to read.
Do reproduce this, all you have to do is right click on the windows desktop and choose personalize. Pick one of the High Contrast Black themes, then open firefox. Click the firefox button at the upper left. The menu is now unusable.

Does this also affect the "classic" menu bar? You can switch by right-clicking the new tab (+) button or a blank area of the tab bar and choosing Menu Bar (if the menu is unreadable, press the m key).
Could you test with hardware acceleration disabled, in case this is caused by a new graphics driver incompatibility? I'm not sure whether you can read dialogs, so you could make the change in Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
    Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled -- ''or'' Alt h r
In the small dialog that eventually opens, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
    Then go to:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If you exit and restart Firefox in normal mode, is there any improvement?

  • Nothing happens when I click on any Help pulldown menus

I have a G3 iMac and use a Seagate 160GB external hard drive. I've maxed out the memory on the iMac -- I only have 500Mb left. Yesterday, I noticed that none of the Help pulldown menus worked -- e.g., when I click on Mac Help or iPhoto help, nothing happens. Also, when I try to open iCal, nothing happens. Do I need to delete some files and create more room on the internal hard drive to open Mac Help and iCal?
    Any advice would be appreciated.

Use Disk Utility to repair Permissions. You can find DU in Applications/Utilities.
Click on your hard drive name at left, then the "Repair Permissions" button at bottom right. It will take a few minutes. This is normal.
Run "Cron" maintenance scripts. This normally only happens between 3 and 5 AM, when the computer is powered on. But with help from Terminal they can be run anytime. (Terminal is also in the Utilities folder)
In Terminal: (TYPE) sudo periodic daily weekly monthly (PRESS ENTER)
You will be prompted for your admin password - you will not see the password as you type it. Press enter again. Cron scripts will take a couple of minutes to execute - be patient.
Use Terminal to Update Prebinding (Optimize the System)
(TYPE) sudo update_prebinding -root / - force (PRESS ENTER)
Enter your Admin password as above.
You should restart the iMac after running the above tasks.
If you feel uncomfortable using Terminal, go to
    http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx
and look for "Onyx" (freeware) or "Cocktail" (shareware) they do all the above, and a couple more things for you in a nice GUI package.

  • Small fonts in pulldown menus

How do you make the fonts larger in the pulldown menus in CS6?  I have went to Preferences/Type, but there is nothing there to adjust the size of the pulldowns.  They are almost unreadable.Photoshop General Discussion

    Hi,
If you go to the following this should resolve your issue: Edit>Preferences>Interface Panel at the bottom "Text" >UI Font Size change to what you want there...
Once you have made the change you need to close PS down and re-launch before the changes take effect!

  • Photos being displayed on screen saver are scrambled.  Why?

After updating to Mountain Lion some of my photos being displayed on the screen saver are scrambled.  Why? This is only started happening after we upgraded to Mountain Lion. In all instances, the effected photos are those that have been 'photoshopped' and then re-saved as a .jpg. However there are many of the photoshopped photos that display perfectly. The effected photos are okay in preview, iphoto and photomechanic.

It very well could be an extra data problem, but Preview is only allowing photos from a camera or scanner to be imported.
I'm essentially creating a screen saver slide show using photos from previous Christmas's.  After importing the photo into photoshop, I added a visible date so the viewers would know which year the photo was taken.  This slide show worked perfectly on our imac until we updated to Mountain Lion.
To create this slide show I took .jpg's imported into photoshop, added the image to a photoshop template with the text box (for the date), saved as a photoshop 'flattened' image, and then saved as a jpg.  And like I said, prior to updating my machine to Mountain Lion, these 'enhanced' photos appeared in the screen saver perfectly, and now they don't.
The weird thing is that there are about 87 photos in this slide show and about 40 of these photos look just fine, the rest are scrambled and I can't figure out what's making the difference. The MB don't seem to matter either.

  • Many songs on my iPad are cut off before completion, or are scrambled (bits of different tunes mixed in with other tunes).

I am running iTunes 11.0.3.42 on Windows 8, and am an iTunes match subscriber.  I have approximately 2700 songs in my library - maybe 1/2 and 1/2 ripped from my CD collection and the rest purchase exclusively through iTunes.  None of this music is pirated.
When playing this music back on my iPad, I am finding that many songs are cut off before they complete.  When this happens, they continue to play, but it is just silence.  Additionally, many other tunes are scrambled, with bits of other songs mixed together into one.  When going back to iTunes on my PC, I will sometimes find that the songs play fine there - but sometimes they behave as they do on the iPad.
This happens whether or not I run my library with iTunes match on the iPad.  I have redownloaded all my songs to try to repair this, with mixed results.  It will often fix the songs that I was having trouble with - but then other songs will begin to show the same type of problems.  I know that 2700 songs is not an immense library, but it is too large for me to systematically review the whole library - which makes tracking these problems very difficult.
I have seen similar types of complaints on the forums ranging over the last several years.  It also seems that these problems have been "solved" by many different methods.  Nothing I have found has worked for me - or only worked with the mixed results I mention above.  I wonder if these individuals have actually been getting the mixed results I am finding.
This is truly frustrating, as I do not do anything exotic with my library, and have not pirated, but gotten my music honestly.  I also have ripped my entire CD collection into iTunes, and have gotten rid of the CD's - as I have NEVER had similar problems to this in all the many years I have been using iTunes.  Suddenly I find that I have a majorly corrupted library, with seemingly no way out.  I cannot even abandon iTunes since I have such an investment in it.  At a minimum of $.99 per song it would cost me almost $2700 to replace my library honestly, and that is at the low end of what I would pay.  I don't know about you - but I don't have three grand to blow on replacing a music library I already paid for just to get away from a crappy product (sorry Apple - but what the heck else would you call this nonsense?).  Makes a dude covet taking an eye-patch.
I am screwed and doubt there's a way out - but I have no choice but to ask for help.  Anyone?

    shameless bump
