Some strange issues-Need solutions

Have anyone faced such issues in 11g.
1) I've created an user test and gave permission to BI author and consumer. Now Im able to see Home, catalog,Dashboard and everything in Presentation service.
I went to console and deleted the user test and again recreated with the same groups added to it.
Now when I log in im able to see Home, catalog,Dashboard and everything in Presentation service. But after some time catalog folder is gone. This is really strange.
2) The first time Im able to set My Dashboard as the default in My account. But second time (after deletion and recreation of same login) Im not able to set My Dashboard. It gives error
Exception occured when saving user preferences to the catalog .Access denied for the user to path /users/username/_prefs/usersprefsxmlstore
3) After sometime for some reason I restarted the services and again logged in using test used.It throwed error saying authentication failed.
Please help how to solve these.Am I doing any mistake? What is the proper way of assigning permissions?

I haven't use 11g yet. But my wild guess is your user doesn't have prvilege to access that report. Go to Administration>manage interactive dashboards and see whether your user has access to the dashboard which you are talking about.

  • Conflict Resolver issues need solution

I use Entourage 2008 (BOO!) as my main calendar/AB/notes/task manager and I used to sync it with iCal to always have a current calendar just in case I encountered one of those microshaft problems.
Occasionally the Conflict Resolver pops up with numerous conflicts and I always choose "use Entourage to resolve" -- which would always end up creating duplicate events in the calendar which I had to go in and manually delete. I got tired of this so I turned off syncing in iCal.
Today, I opened iCal after a few weeks (as I don't manually enter info into it) and I got conflicts. I wound up with who knows how many dupes, so I just restored up to the last file I backed up using iCal and then manually deleted the dupes it created for this month.
I prefer to be able to sync between iCal and Entourage since it is easier for me to print out events using iCal in Daily or List views -- which I do frequently because I need any notes to print out and Entourage appears not to have this ability, like Outlook did -- or maybe it's hidden and I got tired of looking for the thing I need to tick in order for the notes to print.
So getting back on track here --- is there any way to turn off this conflict resolution so that I can change the iCal prefs back to syncing between both calendars because it would be a real pain to enter info into two calendars when Entourage can automatically place it into iCal.
I'd been using this function since Office 2004 and I think I only had the conflict resolver come up once, so who knows --- it might be a 2008 issue??? Leave it to microshaft to cause problems.

I just turned the function back on, and since getting the iPhone 3G a few months back, haven't really had to deal with problems as before. I basically just modified Entourage the last time the CR popped up, d/l something called iCal Dupe Deleter, so that way I don't have to scan iCal -- and it's all good, for now ;-]

  • AFP Strange Issue

I'm running afp on a 10.4.9 server and I'm having some strange issues. I'm wondering if someone can help me troubleshoot this issue.
Due to some machine room issues, we had to shutdown and reboot the machine last weekend. After that, we've had issues with users saving to the afp server. For example we've had issues with users opening excel files and not being able to click "save" to save them. They must do a "save as". Also a host of temp files are saved within the directory as well... Also big files, often times users will have to download them locally, then make modifications then save to the server. We had no troubles previous to the restart.
    Any suggestions?

I'm not that folks quite understand. The fix is to be sure that the UIDs are unique on the workstations. Of course they have to be unique on the server.
Every time you setup a new OS X workstation, the first user is UID 501, so if you happen to setup a bunch of workstations with just one user each, all of them will have the same UID. THAT is the cause of the save bug. You must change the UIDs on each user's computer."
    "Dave Provine
This should work to change UID and permissions. From http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-12077.html
Changing UIDs in the terminal is a simple NetInfo property overwrite:
sudo niutil -createprop . /users/userName uid XXX
(replace userName as appropriate and XXX with the new UID number)
Finding and changing UIDs across the filesystem is a one-liner command:
    sudo find / -user UID -exec chown userName {} \;
(replace UID with the old UID number and userName with the new user name to associate file ownership.)"

  • Strange issue with Spry Accordion Panels

Hi, I'm having some strange issues with the Spry Accordion
    Panels.
    Here is the page:
    http://www.bellaclientcenter.com/browncollege/aboutus.html
For some reason when I preview this message it adds extra
characters to the url above, so just delete those off to see the
    correct url.
The only browser this does NOT happen in is safari, I'm
seeing it all of my other browsers. You'll notice when you first
load up the page, you'll see that the active panel header
background is green, and the non active is a dark grey. But when
you click one of the other panels they all turn a strange neon blue
color. This is very apparent in firefox.
Any thoughts on this? I've attached the spry css code in case

  • Some confusing issues and their solution while working with InCopy stories.

    Hi All,<br />Last few months I have been working on InDesign/InCopy workFlow.I faced lot many problems and able to find solutions for some of them.I am putting down some of  the problems I haved faced and the approaches I followed to get the solutions.<br />So here I go...<br />First I will put the issues I faced and then their common solution.<br /><br />Issue 1)A text frame exported as a InCopy file.<br />InterfacePtr<IDataLinkReference> dataLinkReference(frameUIDRef, UseDefaultIID());<br />if(dataLinkReference == nil)<br />break;<br />UID linkUID = dataLinkReference->GetUID();<br />If(linkUID == kInvlaidID)<br />Break;<br /><br />The linkUID is always equal to kInvalidUID.<br /><br />Issue 2)A graphics frame with image placed inside it and exported as an InCopy file.<br />In this case the linkUID will have a valid UID.<br />So the code ahead is<br /><br />UIDRef linkRef(frameUIDRef.GetDataBase(), linkUID); <br />InterfacePtr<IDataLink> dataLink(linkRef, UseDefaultIID()); <br />if(dataLink != nil)<br />{<br />  PMString linkedFilePath = *(dataLink->GetFullName());<br />}<br /><br />so here the linkedFilePath will be the file path of the linked incopy file and not of that image file.<br /><br />Issue 3)A graphics frame with image placed inside it but without any associated InCopy file.<br />The linkedFilePath is that of filePath of an image.<br /><br />The solution I found was..<br />The reason for this confusing behaviour is, InCopy frame has one more UIDRef associated with the InCopy story.<br />So to get the incopy related UIDRef we have to use the following code.<br /><br />UIDRef incopyStoryUIDRef = Utils<IInCopyWorkFlowUtils>()->GetContainingInCopyStory(itemUIDRef);<br /><br />The problem with above api is in case of the graphic frame the itemUIDRef should be the UIDRef of the frame and in case of text frame the itemUIDRef should be the UIDRef of the text story i.e the text model.<br />To get the proper UIDRef use following code<br />//code start<br />UIDRef storyUIDRef(frameUIDRef.GetDataBase());<br />InterfacePtr<IPMUnknown> unknown(frameUIDRef,IID_IUNKNOWN);<br />if(unknown == nil)<br />{<br />break;<br />}<br />UID textFrameUID = Utils<IFrameUtils>()->GetTextFrameUID(unknown);<br />if(textFrameUID != kInvalidUID)<br />{<br />isTextFrame = kTrue;<br />UIDRef textFrameUIDRef(frameUIDRef.GetDataBase(),textFrameUID);<br />InterfacePtr<ITextFrame> textFrame(textFrameUIDRef,UseDefaultIID());<br />if(textFrame == nil)<br />{<br />break;<br />}<br />ITextModel * txtMdl = textFrame->QueryTextModel();<br />if(txtMdl == nil)<br />{<br />break;<br />}<br /><br />storyUIDRef = GetUIDRef(txtMdl);<br />result =  Utils<IInCopyBridgeUtils>()->IsInCopyStory(storyUIDRef);<br />               <br />}<br />else<br />{<br />isTextFrame = kFalse;<br />result = Utils<IInCopyWorkFlowUtils>()->IsInCopyStory(frameUIDRef);<br />storyUIDRef = frameUIDRef;               <br />}<br />//code end.<br /><br />Then use<br />UIDRef incopyStoryUIDRef = Utils<IInCopyWorkFlowUtils>()->GetContainingInCopyStory(storyUIDRef );<br /><br />Once you have the proper incopyStoryUIDRef, the following code works uniformely and you will always get the incopy file irrespective of the type of frame.<br /><br />IDataLink * dLink = Utils<IInCopyBridgeUtils>()->QueryDataLink(incopyStoryUIDRef);<br />if(dLink == nil)<br />{                                   <br />break;<br />}<br />so dLink->GetFullName() will always give you the incopy file path associated with the frame.<br /><br />Hope this helps somebody working on InCopy stories.<br /><br />But I still could not find the way to find the image file path associated with the graphic incopy story.(refer issue 2 above.).Using above approach I always get the file path of associated incopy file.<br /><br />I will keep this thread updated as and when I encounter with some more issues and find their solutions.<br /><br />Thanks and Regards,<br />Yopangjo.

I cannot explain why your iMac worked ok.  I too have seen situations where "lower cost" WiFi routers like Belkin and LInksys have "sort of" worked but had problems.
Back in 2004 after buying a fairly large house I purchased an off-brand WiFi gateway that featured high power output so I could mount it centrally in the house and be able to use WiFi everywhere.  Even though this thing was rated well and had the high-power everyone said would help it gave me continuous problems.
One day a buddy gave me an Apple Airport (the one that looks like a apple power adapter).  I plugged it in where I had the high power unit in place and suddenly I had amazing WiFi speed and coverage EVERYWHERE. I could not believe it!  That day I ordered an Airport Extreme and it has been fantastic.
I then recommended this solution to a friend of mine that had an Apple MacBook and he had nothing but trouble and went back to his linksys.  So it is a mixed bag.
Currently I have three WiFi devices:  A TimeCapsule downstairs, an Airport Extreme upstairs and a LInkSys in a utility closet.  The LinkSys is needed because my son's GF's Windows computer will not connect to anything else.
Anyway glad you figured something out.

My Photoshop CS 5 has some strange actions when I copy a portion of a photo using the clone stamp  to transfer to another part of the image. It carries the entire layer (not just the stamps selection) across the screen and I cannot place it where I need to. It appears as if I selected the entire layer on purpose (which I did not)
The below items appeared when I opened Photoshop CS 5:
“Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver and has temporarily disabled G & U enhancements. Check the video card malfunctions website for latest software. GPU enhancements can be enabled in the performance panel of preferences.”
(I believe this started after the automatically updated Windows was applied. It was coincident with the before mentioned problem . . . but I don’t really know if it had anything to do with it. )

For the Clone Stamp problem, check the Clone Source panel and Clipped is probably unchecked.
If so, check Clipped and see if that makes a difference.
    (Window>Clone Source)
As to the video card problem:
Which version of windows are you using?
What is the make and model of your graphics card?
Do you know which update windows installed?

  • Some Strange Sleep Issues

So, I just got my baby back from Apple (two weeks later!). They replaced the logic board and display assembly.
However, my PD continues to display some strange behavior in regard to sleep/waking up.
Just this morning, upon opening the lid, I got a kernel panic. This afternoon (and has happened prior to repair) upon opening the lid, the screen remains black and the light on the open button remains bright rather than pulsing. Attempts at closing and opening yielded no results. Thus, I was forced to do a hard restart. I don't mind this so much except for the fact that I'm working on a 40pg paper and losing it would cause some embarrassing tears.
So, it appears that all of my issues relate to sleep/waking up.
Any thoughts? As always, any help is most appreciated.
    Cheers!

I am having problems with the Pioneer 106D. Makes me leery of Pioneer now.

I need help in deciding whether i should get a new ipad3 or opt for ipad2. Seller is willing to replace it with ipad2 as well..
Have also heard that the ipad3 revamped version is around along with the mini pad rumor..too much information - lot's of confusion pls help

    Lindsay,
Your iBookG4 is still a pretty awesome Mac. Like already said, it has the power to run Leopard, but it depends if you have an internal DVD drive.
Then I suppose you have to add up the cost of the OS, perhaps another 512MB RAM, iLife 08 and replacements for any favourite apps that you currently use (Leopard breaks a lot of stuff, but Intel breaks even more). Compare it to the cost of a new MacBook, which wil have all of that included and be 3-4x faster too.
It also depends on what you want to achieve with your iBook. My PMG4 still cuts it today, I still use it in preference to my new Mac Pro, It's about the same age as your iBook, and I'll only stop using it when it becomes "painfully" slow. My 1 year old son currently uses the Mac Pro (parts for a Mac Pro are easier to replace than those for a PMG4).
I think your choice is simple, if you can a cheap copy of Tiger, use that, it'll get your iPod Touch up and running. It came in DVD and 4 CD version (by request).
Leopard will work for you too but a lot of the best eye-candy requires quite a meaty graphics card and you may need a RAM upgrade and replacement software - OS9 Classic is not supported in Leopard.

  • Can't access root share sometimes and some strange performance issues

    Hi :)
I'm sometimes getting error 0x80070043 "The network name cannot be found" when accessing \\dc01 (the root), but can access shares via \\dc01\share.
When I get that error I also didn't get the network drive hosted on that server set via Group Policy, it fails with this error:
The user 'W:' preference item in the 'GPO Name' Group Policy Object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070008 Not enough storage is available to process this command.' This error was suppressed.
The client is Windows Server 2012 Remote Desktop and file server is 2012 too. On a VMware host.
Then I log off and back on, and no issues.
Maybe related and maybe where the problem is: When I have the issue above and sometimes when I don't (the network drive is added fine) I have some strange performance issues on share/network drive: Word, Excel and PDF files opens very slowly. Offices says
"Contacting \\dc01\share..." for 20-30 sec and then opens. Text files don't have that problem.
I have a DC02 server also 2012 with no issues like like this.
    Any tips how to troubleshoot?

    Hi,
Based on your description, you could access shares on DC via
\\dc01\share. But you couldn’t access shares via \\dc01.
    Please check the
Network Path in the Properties of the shared folders at first. If the network path is
\\dc01\share, you should access the shared folder by using
    \\dc01\share.
    And when you configure
Drive Maps via domain group policy, you should also type the Network Path of the shared folders in the
    Location edit.

  • Strange issue with external monitor, only working when external speakers plugged in

Hey – I am having a very strange issue with my external monitor; where it only works if my external speakers are plugged in and connected.
I am using a late 2011 Macbook pro, running Mavericks 10.9.4, along with an MBox 2 (USB Audio Interface), and two powered speakers (KRK Rokit 5). This setup has had no issues. I have just acquired an external monitor (Benq T2200HD), which I am using with a thunderbolt to VGA adaptor (a cheap non-apple adaptor).
To start - I plugged the monitor in with the thunderbolt adaptor, and it powers up and works fine. However, there is a nasty buzz coming from the speakers. I did some research and it looks like a simple ground loop issue. I did a bit of troubleshooting, and this is where things get weird.
What I found is - If I unplug the MBox, the monitor loses signal from the computer (displaying ‘No Signal Detected!’). Further, if I keep the MBox plugged in, however unplug both the cables from the MBox to the speakers, the monitor loses signal. It doesn’t matter if the speakers are turned off, however they need to be plugged in (or the monitor loses signal). Weirder still, I can unplug the MBox, however the monitor will work if I plug in the speakers through my macs headphone jack.
Simply put, the monitor only works if there is a direct connection between the computer, the speakers, and the power source.  What is going on here? Is the monitor grounding through the computer port, to the speakers (I don’t know how this works, is this possible?). Could it somehow be the cheap VGA adaptor I am using?
    Some other information:
    - Everything is plugged into the same multi-box for power. I have tried plugging things into separate sources, and the result is the same.
    - If I unplug the thunderbolt adaptor, then the speaker noise disappears straight away.
    - The ground noise doesn’t appear in my headphones, which are plugged into the MBox.
Any information would be great – am I missing something here, or is this genuinely weird?

Please go to the below link to test if you are having a speaker hardware failure.

  • Compilation of Lenovo X120e issues and solutions

Just thought a compilation of issues may be beneficial for folks who own an X120e.
Screen adjusts brightness automatically without user input depending on content on screen:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X100e-screen-brightness-increasing-by-itself/td...
This is caused by Vari-Bright being enabled in the Catalyst Control Center.  With this option enabled, the screen will automatically adjust its brightness depending on what is shown on the screen.  The display brightness is increased when the screen is predominantly white while the display brightness is decreased when the screen is predominantly dark.  An easiest way to see this effect happening is to have two tabs opened in a web browser window.  Set one tab to display a website that is mainly filled with white pixels (such as this Lenovo Forum) and another tab to display a website that is mainly filled with dark pixels (such as http://www.krijtenberg.nl/ ).  Switch between the two, pausing a few seconds in each tab.
    Solution:
Open the Catalyst Control Center and select the PowerPlay option in the Power section.  Uncheck the Vari-Bright option (or adjust the slider) and click Apply.  Verify that the automatic adjustment is no longer occuring by doing the two tab experiment described above.
Function keys for brightness control not working after waking from sleep / hibernation in some instances:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/x120e-Funtion-keys-for-brightness-not-working/t...
For my X120e, whenever I have it sleeping or hibernating and change the power source (such as initiating sleep when on power and then waking it up while on battery, or vice versa), the function keys for brightness controls do not work.
    Solution:
Restarting the machine will bring back functionality of the brightness control keys...
A way to prevent this from happening in the first place is to wake the X120e in the same power state that the X120e was put to sleep in (wake up from power adapter if slept while connected to power adapter, or wake up from battery if slept while on battery).
All we can do now is wait for Lenovo to come up with a fix on their side of things.
AMD SATA Controller and TRIM for SSD:
The AMD SATA Controller provided by Lenovo does not support passing of TRIM command according to http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/450343-post35.html for SSDs.  The Lenovo provided AMD SATA Controller is 1.2.1.197, before the official TRIM support in 1.2.1.263.  If you're using a HDD, this is of no concern.
    Solution:
In order to have support for passing of TRIM command, one has to update the AMD SATA Controller to any version above 1.2.1.263 ( http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/integrated_win7-64.aspx#3 for Windows 7 64-bit, for example) or uninstall the AMD SATA Controller to revert back to Microsoft's Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller.
Disclaimer:  Since the AMD SATA Controller driver linked is not from Lenovo themselves, I'm sure they won't provide any support if something is to occur so try at your own risk.
As HP79 mentions below, at least according to the update notes, TRIM implementation is implemented for Hudson chipsets as of 1.2.001.263.
Audio Stutter / Slurring occuring during playback of video/audio:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/x120e-Stuttering-Audio/td-p/389023
This issue can be reproduced (at least on my X120e) by waking the X120e after putting it to sleep.  The symptom is the audio repeating a sound over a span of a second or two during playback and is quite noticable.
    Solution:
uEFI Bios version 1.11 seems to deal with the audio stuttering issue.  So far, results lead to positive outcomes.
    Old Solution:
PWMTR64V.DLL that is loaded at Startup seems to be causing this issue.  Disabling it from launching when starting up seems to cure the Audio Stutter (even after waking up from sleep which was seen to be a pretty reliable way to get the issue to repro).  Start Menu > Launch MSCONFIG from the Search Bar > Select Startup Tab from the System Configuration window > Uncheck Thinkpad Power Manager > Restart.
This does not seem to turn off the power manager application itself so settings in Power Manager can be saved and it seems to still be in effect.  However, opening up Power Manager from the notification / taskbar can cause audio stuttering and mouse movement slowdown while it is launching and/or when applying settings.  This is only temporary and is gone when Power Manager is closed. (Thanks kns7977 for the find)
Pending to see if those who uninstalled Power Manager are able to turn off the offending startup .dll.
Mouse seems to stutter or stay in place for a moment when moving:
This seems to be caused by the same issue causing the Audio Stutter / Slurring.  At least at this time, the cause of the issue and solution seems to be the same.
Emulating Middle Mouse Button with Trackpoint:
One can set up the middle button between the left and right click button for the TrackPoint to act like pressing a middle mouse button on a standard mouse by changing the scrolling type to Smooth instead of the default Standard.
Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Mouse > UltraNav Tab > Setting for TrackPoint > Setting for Choose Scrolling or Magnifying Glass Function > Smooth.
Trackpad's two finger gesture being hit or miss:
The trackpad's two finger scrolling is very hit and miss.
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X120e-Touchpad-issues/td-p/393751
Solution: Turning off Gesture Filtering may alleviate the problem.  As mentioned in http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/561751-x120e-owners-thread-24.html#post7323293, it seems that the Gesture Filtering is counteracting any sort of two finger input.
Get to Mouse Properties by Fn + F8, select Manage Settings.  At Mouse Properties, select the UltraNav tab > Settings for TouchPad.  Expand the Smart Check Settings, highlight Gesture Filtering, and uncheck the Enable Gesture Filtering box and Apply.
    Screen flickers lines:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/x120e-Flickering/td-p/389523
Had this issue occur on me once, but never seen it happen again.  Unsure what caused or cured it.
    Solution:
If the flickering is occuring, a restart is all that is needed to alleviate the problem.  Haven't tested if hibernation fixes it, but neither sleep nor turning off the screen with the Power Manager dealt with the flickering.
3-Cell Battery mentioned as a 40Wh in the Order Page of Lenovo X120e when it is actually rated as 32Wh according to Power Manager:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X120e-3-cell-40Wh-battery-reported-as-32Wh-by-P...
    Yeah...
    Solution:
Accept that it's a 32Wh you will get when selecting 3-Cell or go for the 6-Cell if you want more than 32Wh.
2x2 ABGN Driver from Lenovo triggering Error Code 10:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X120e-ABGN-Driver-issue-in-Windows-7-Pro-x64/td...
The Wireless driver from Lenovo's site seems to not work with the 2x2 ABGN wireless when installed on a fresh copy of Windows 7 x64.
    Solution:
Not really quite a solution, but one can bypass this by either installing the 32-bit Windows 7 and installing the 32-bit driver, or using the factory recovery disc to install 64 bit windows 7 to have it install drivers that work for x64 windows 7.
X120e bluescreens after installing LAN Realtek 7.26.902.2010 drivers from Lenovo's Driver download site.
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/x120e-bluescreen-when-installing-lan-drivers/td...
The drivers doesn't seem to work and it causes a bluescreen on fresh installed Windows 7 x64.
    Solution:
As Clicq suggests, Realtek's own drivers from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTy... seems to deal with the issue.
    Screen quality on the X120e:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/x120e-poor-LCD-quality-viewing-angles/td-p/3945...
The quality of the screen on an X120e is below expectations.
This is common with low-quality TN panels not helped by glossy displays.  My personal X120e screen likes to bleed certain colors of red.
    Solution (not really):
One can use the Windows 7 built-in color calibration tool to adjust the colors to make it more tolerable.  Adjusting your own viewing angle in relation to the screen might deal with some color issues (hard to figure out what's the correct viewing angle because of TN panel's small range of optimal viewing angles).  Also, changing the refresh rate to 60Hz may deal with some headaches due to the screen (as it did for me).
    HDMI Overscan to HDTV issue:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/HDMI-overscan-to-HDTV-issue-on-x120e/m-p/395335
There is a black border when outputting to HDTV through HDMI.
    Solution:
AMD's CCC by default sets a specific value for overscan / underscan.  One can http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Output-to-TV-via-HDMI-port-black-border-on-the-... while the device is connected via HDMI (the option is hidden if the HDMI port is not used) and adjust the slider to an acceptable value.
Skype asserts after 10-20 seconds of video chat:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/x120e-Skype-quits-after-10-20-seconds-of-video/...
When doing a video chat, the video feed will freeze and then skype will crash to desktop.
    Solution:
Version 5.3 of Skype seems to be the culprit.  Until Skype itself is fixed, one can use Skype 5.2.60.113 from http://www.filehippo.com/download_skype/changelog/9465/ to bypass this issue.  Just reject any offer to update to 5.3 after installing 5.2, for now.
If there is anything I missed, please respond and I'll update this post with new information.  These are the ones that I have encountered so far with my Lenovo X120e.  Don't get me wrong, I like my X120e... it's just been a "learning" experience lol

  • Strange issues on OLAP univese based on Bex

I am posting some strange questions and this forum might have answers but any responses will helpme out here
    1. Source System : The Bex query based universe object is displaying all source systems in BW, so everytime the Source Syetms object been pulled into query (since its a mandatory) it pulls the entire list. Infact while creating Bex, The BW team is selecting or showing only 5 sourece system related this project. How can restrict this in Universe to show only those source systems which were selected in BEX. The observation is that in the Univrse object its pointing to 0level (which is master data set of the BW).
    2. The mandatory prompts & optional prompts: When ever we run the small report also, All the prompts are appearing with Mandatory as well Optional. Since all pormpts are coming, I believe the corresponding LOV's ar also poping-up. So to get only prompts in the screen its taking 7 min. Can anybody advise, on above issues.( I know I can uncheck the option at object level to remove the option "Use filter as mandatory in the query)
3.How to create object that gives constant values: I have a requirement where I need to show "30", "45","60","90" of credit limits. These are constants across all reports. Can I create the object which givves me constants as out put.
I have few more questions and will be posting soon. Thanks in advance for any answers.

    Hi,
    1. The observation is that in the Univrse object its pointing to 0level (which is master data set of the BW).
    >> The universe reflects what you are doing in the BW query. if you want to have a fixed list of source systems then you would create a filter in the BW query.
    2. The mandatory prompts & optional prompts: When ever we run the small report also, All the prompts are appearing with Mandatory as well Optional. Since all pormpts are coming, I believe the corresponding LOV's ar also poping-up. So to get only prompts in the screen its taking 7 min. >> the definition of optional / manadataory is done in the BW query for the variable definition. in case you want to avoid to load the list of values you can also enable the delegated search for the list of values.
3.How to create object that gives constant values: I have a requirement where I need to show "30", "45","60","90" of credit limits. These are constants across all reports. Can I create the object which givves me constants as out put.
    >> just create a new object in the Universe.

  • Strange issue in Report Builder

    Hi All,
I am facing a strange issue in Report Builder.
I am having a report which is currently in production. when i am opening that report and just saving it without making any changes, then also the size of the report is reducing from 238 to 204 kb.
When i am executing this report in production then it is giving me the error "Invalid Body size"
Please hlep me or else have to ask God to save me.
    Thanks
    Aryan

    Hi Hussien,
I tried thart solution but it not worked. i put some debug statement in Before Parameter form, after Parameter form, before report triggers. When i am running that report i am getting the debug statement of Before and After Parameter triggers but it is failing somewhere in Before Report Trigger.
I removed everything from Before Report Trigger and still the result is same "Invalid Body Size".
Please Hussien give me a some pointer which stage is processed between After Parameter Form trigger and Before Report Trigger.
    Thanks
    Aryan

  • Strange issue with external monitor, only working when external speakers plugged in (using Thunderbolt to VGA adaptor)

I have just acquired an external monitor (Benq T2200HD), which I am using with a thunderbolt to VGA adaptor (a cheap Chinese knockoff adaptor).

Well, I went back into Best Buy to test on 3 other laptops (2 Asus, and their floor model for this Sony). It seems to be doing the same problem so at least I was able to rule out broken hardware issue on my particular laptop.
Here's what I did to test:
Since I couldn't really install Adobe Premiere on their machines, I used the DVIO software (http://www.carr-engineering.com/dvio.htm) and a 5 min clip I captured.  I transferred onto their machines, hooked up my Sony D8, and attempted to play the video.  It would play for 15 seconds and then stop and jitter with a loud noise (like it does on my laptop).  I even tried changing each machine's firewire driver to the legacy one and same results.  I pulled a brand new 4 pin to 4 pin firewire cable off their shelf and still the same problem.
I think I've nailed it down to Win7x64 bit Home Edition not playing nice with Firewire driver.  Very annoying.  I can't find any concrete evidence of this from other users on any of the forums that have my particular problem, but from my own testing, it's all I can conclude.
I have 2 other things I can try:
    1.  Opening the laptop and looking at the firewire to maybe find appropriate driver (ugh, I don't want to have to open this thing up).
    2.  Upgrading to Win7x64bit Pro and possibly testing with XP on the new MS Virtual PC (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/).  I can't do it with my Home edition apparantly.
Who needs to view video on an external TV anyways....sheeesh...(scarcasm).
    Tim
