Sometimes in an email reply in Outlook the cursor disappears and pressing any key makes the "bump" sound.  The only way to correct this is by clicking the mouse back in the original cursor location...any ideas?

Does the cursor always drop to the bottom? If so, perhaps your hitting the text when trying to type the top row of keys.
Regarding troubleshooting, try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

  • Since installing Mac Mavericks all my friends with Macs and I have problems with the cursor disappearing, only in Firefox, Safari is fine...

I have stopped using Firefox as nothing I have done has fixed this problem. I have tried shutting down Firefox and rebooting it, I cleared all my add-ons and then added adblock back (that's the only one) but it still doesn't work. I've deleted large files so that I have more space - I can't think of anything else that will work. I have spoken to four of my friends with Macs and they are all having the same problem with Firefox since Mavericks.

Hi thanks very much for your reply. I did a few things like delete my add-ons and I don't have the problem of the disappearing cursor (sounds like a Sherlock Holmes story) any more but it seems to have been a mac issue as there were many complaints on the Apple forums of the cursor disappearing since the Mavericks OS and not just in Firefox but in multiple programs. Looks like they've fixed it somehow!

  • Why does the cursor disappear completely?

The cursor disappears completely from the screen sometimes (I have a microsoft wireless mouse), and it does no good to use the pad either. Sometimes if I close the Mac, go away and come back, the cursor has returned. Other times I have to turn off the mac.  Advice?

Because the bottom of the computer is blocking the display.

  • How to make the cursor disappear?

In a graphic screen the cursor should not be visible. What can I do in order to make the cursor disappear? Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance.

    for a GUI
    Image image = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createImage(new java.awt.image.MemoryImageSource(16, 16, pixels, 0, 16));
    Cursor transparentCursor = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createCustomCursor(image, new Point(0, 0), "invisiblecursor");
    frame.setCursor(transparentCursor);

  • I have a regular usb mouse and it isn't working. It sometimes clicks, but it can't make the cursor move. The red light will not turn on.

I have been using a mouse with my MacBook Pro for a very very long time now:
    Optical USB Mouse:
      Product ID:    0xc016
      Vendor ID:    0x046d  (Logitech Inc.)
      Version:     3.40
      Speed:    Up to 1.5 Mb/sec
      Manufacturer:    Logitech
      Location ID:    0x06200000 / 3
      Current Available (mA):    500
      Current Required (mA):    100
I'm running OS 10.6.8 on a MacBookPro that is fairly old.
The mouse is detected on the USB port, either one, but the red light won't light anymore so I can't use it to move the cursor. I've tried rebooting, I've tried the cammand-option.P.R thing. Still no red light.
    Help?

    Mouse Gas?
I took both of them to work and both worked fine in a different Mac laptop. I brought home two other mice and they both work here in my home computer. That works, but I wish I knew why the first two don't work at home because the logitec mouse I bought for home has very light action and the center wheel needs only a very light touch. I really really liked it and can't find one like it to replace it with.

Can you use the tab key too reach that text area?
What element gets selected if you right-click that compose section and select Inspect Element to open the Inspector?

  • If e-mail is moderately long if I delete a letter or digit the cursor disappears, have to recover it, all deleted letters or digits appear at end of e-mail

If I type a moderately long e-mail (I haven't counted the letters/digits to determine how long), then suddenly letters won't appear. If make a typing errors, and backspace over or delete the error/s, the cursor will disappear. It's not anywhere in the body of the e-mail (or anywhere else I've noticed). I can get it to reappear by highlighting every word in the e-mail, then undoing that.
All the letters/digits I've deleted reappear at the end of the e-mail--but only in the e-mail received (by the recipient). If I save the e-mail as a draft, when I look at the draft, the I'll see the deleted letters/symbols at the end of the e-mail. If I click on edit, they disappear. But recipients see all of them, regardless of whether I edit the e-mail or not.
The last time I asked this "question", I was told to update. That was probably 5 updates ago. There has been no change.
I don't know if the problem persists in safe mode because I have forgotten to switch into safe mode every time I use TB. Sometimes I remember to run TB in safe mode but don't have reason to type a long e-mail.
I'm really tired of this problem.
OS is win 7 pro w/service pack 1.

May I ask why? Have you learned that that specific problem is solved in a pre-release version? So far I've upgraded once on your advice, now I've upgraded again to 31. Problem's still there. Unless I'm told that the problem's been solved for sure in a latter version, I'm not going to upgrade because sometimes the upgrades bring problems w/them for a low tech user. I don't want to chat, etc., I just want to be able to send and receive e-mails.
I'm still working with the security software people re: some continuing issues w/FF.
I'd like to spend more time doing my work, or communicating w/friends, not dealing w/software problems.
Is there anyway of my finding out what, if any update, includes whatever is needed to solve my specific problem? I use Win7 Pro, SP1, 3.40 Gz processor, 3.19 Gb usable RAM, 64 bit OS. I don't know what other information is needed.

  • When I am typing in the address bar, the cursor disappears after 15 or so characters and I have to reclick on the bar to continue typing.. why?

Sometimes it seems like it is prompted by some type of reload as the cursor turns into the blue circle before disappearing. I am not hitting any strange keys or doing anything with the mouse.

The one that indicates where you're typing (|). as you can see in the attached pic, i was trying to type "andrewager.com" in the address bar, but it jumped down to the search box and the e went in to the search box.

  • When I type on the iPad the cursor disappears

If I am typing in an email or a google document And have to go back to change something, I am unable to do so.  If it lets me go back, I can't move the cursor back to the end of the sentence.  Anyone else have this problem? I don't see the cursor at all.

Reboot the iPad and see if that helps.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Why does the cursor disappear

The cursor intermittently disappears on my imac. I use a mighty mouse. If I shoot to the bottom and then up again it comes back but this is frustrating and it also happens again soon after. Any proper solutions anyone?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

So when i go into an email - I cannot reply, forward, delete or add event?
    Any ideas?

    and then do a reboot.

  • When sending an email message with attachment, the message disappears.

I send and receive messages without any problems but when I try sending a message with an attachment (using Documents to Go, IAnnotate PDF, IWork,) the message somehow disappears (it is not sent to the destination and not listed on "Sent" messages folder. Is anyone having the same issue?

    Hi Jaime,
Are you saying, you are getting junk characters in the email attachment? Then pls check the following. Since you want to send Japanese fonts, please pass language 'J' in both  objpack-obj_langu = '3' & doc_chng-obj_langu  = '3' instead of '3' please replace it with 'J'.
Another thing which you may have to check is the SCOT device type. As I understand from my basis colleague, this may also affect your attachment fonts since the emails are sent through SCOT. Go to transaction SCOT-> Settings-> Device types for format conversion. Check whether wrong device type is defined for Japanese there. Hope this helps
    Regards,
    Gokul

  • If I type a long e-mail, the cursor starts to disappear at times, if I make an error and delete it, or sometimes it just disappears

I have Win7 Pro, using TB 24.6.0. If I type a long e-mail (I haven't counted the letters, the number would be many), then the cursor disappears off & on. The cursor disappears mostly when I make a typing error, backspace or delete the error. Eventually, I can't continue typing--cursor is gone. Sometimes the cursor has relocated to the beginning of the e-mail (top of the frame) and I have substantial difficulty moving it back to where I stopped typing. I cannot just click on where I stopped typing
I saved one of these e-mails as a draft, and noticed there were many letters/junk at the end of the e-mail and one e-mail recipient told me she's seeing similar lines of letters/junk at the end of my e-mails.
I've tried running TB in safe mode, but didn't have reason to type out a long e-mail while it was in safe mode so I'm not sure if it recurs in safe mode or not. I don't really have any add-ons. I mostly use the defaults TB assigns at download.
Haven't had this problem before, it's a very annoying problem.

  • Word 2011 for Mac Book pro - I have found that my cursor disappears sometimes when I click on a toolbar function. I found out it is a bug, that the Mac loses 'focus'. I can correct it temporarily by clicking on Format - Font - Cancel. Any info?

I have Word 2011 on a Mac Book Pro and have had problems with a dissapearing cursor - it makes editing tricky
After googling it I found out that there is a bug where the Mac loses focus if you click away from the document - it also does this with italics according to other users.
I had a play with it and found out that when I click on the toolbar in a document where this happens, the cursor disappears, e.g. changing font colour etc. And then, when I click on Format - Font - Cancel it returns
I'd be interested if anyone else has a comment to add, please do
    thanks

BTW (speaking as a Dad of 3 daughters in Grad school) if you don't already have and use a DropBox account, or some other similar online "cloud" based backup of your school documents, you should start doing so immediately. By keeping all of your important documents in the Dropbox folder on your computer, you have instant access to them from any other computer (or iPad), should you be w/o your computer while in for repairs (or if, God forbid, it is stolen). It's free for 2 GB of online storage, which is more than enough for a few years worth of Word documents, etc. (If you get other people to sign up via your email "invitation", then Dropbox gives you even more free storage space.) Every time you close a document, it is updated on the Dropbox servers (encrypted), if it is in the Dropbox folder (assuming you give it a few seconds to update before turning off your computer). Do a google search of "Cloud based storage comparisons" to compare the amount of free space each of the competing services give you.
