What is the version of Internet Explorer installed on your computer?
In Internet Explorer go to Help -> About Internet Explorer.

I am using the latest version of skype, and have adequete internent connectivity, however I keep getting the following message when I try to log in to skype via my Facebook log in: "Sometimes the internet gets a bit sleepy and takes a nap.  Make sure its up and running then we'll give it another go."I had no issues signing in to skype yesterday--this just started today.  I use Win7 Home Premium OS.Any advice?

Yep, just found out the solution--thank you to the skype support chat folks.  They told me to download the older version at this link: http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-sseit worked like a charm.Hope this helps!

  • OS X Yosemite - the Internet gets a bit sleepy

Congratulations on the most irritating status message ever!
I'm travelling in the US and on multiple networks Skype Version 7.7 (335) shows this amazingly useless information message. As a software engineer who's written routing software I have no clue what this message is supposed to mean. All other internet services here work just fine.
Took logs with Skype First Aid, but no useful information in the ascii log and don't know how to grok the binary one.
If you have a better solution than proposed (leaving Skype), please speak up.
    Thanks

The internet remains a bit sleepy on every network the machine connects to on this trip (Bay Area, USA, probably the best connected place on the planet ).
No issues with hangouts but Skype has credits for phone calls that I can't use. Giving up on Skype as a bad lot.

  • Sometimes the internet gets a bit sleepy and takes...

This is the message I get everytime I try to sign in. I sign in with my Microsoft account. I've installed the latest version. I've even uninstalled it, then re-installed it. I've checked my firewall settings, and Skype is good to go. My operating system is Windows 7 Premium. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Try to reset now all Internet Explorer settings:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/reset-ie-settings#ie=ie-11-win-7
    Next reset LAN settings:
Open Internet Explorer. Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN settings. Make sure that the only option selected is “Automatically detect settings”.
Next clear all Temporary Internet Files:
Open Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> General. In the section “Browsing history” press the “Settings” button and in the next window the “View files” button. Delete all files from the Temporary Internet Files folder.
Reboot your computer and then try to start Skype.

  • Internet gets a bit sleepy...

As it stands, we have never had Skype work. We have installed and uninstalled atleast 5 times both ways. We have tried reverting back to previous versions of skype but to no avail.
We have Microsoft security essentials, superanti spyware, CC cleaner, and windows firewall which never pops up.
It simply tries to boot up, goes to a Internet explorer webpage, then comes back to "Internet gets a bit sleepy..." with a couple clickable links to skype log in or microsoft log in.

    Chrome 43.0.2357.124

    Hey there!
It sounds like you are having trouble updating iTunes, even though you are connected to the internet. I would start with the troubleshooting in the following article to help resolve any software conflicts, or security software issues:
Resolve issues between iTunes and security software
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3125
If this does not resolve the issue, I would next remove the iTunes software (this will not compromise your iTunes library):
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
    Or
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
Then download iTunes with this link and install it:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • How do I change the settings so my computer doesn't time-out so quickly when I'm trying to send an e-mail and the internet's a bit slow?

I tried sending a smaller picture (about 300 kb) to some of my family members and before it got to them the computer timed out (very quickly, I might add) so it wouldn't send. We have fairly slow internet speed at times and when I was using XP, under tools there was a feature to increase the time so the computer didn't time out as fast. I had it set at about two minutes. I can't seem to find the same feature under tools in Windows8. I'd really like to be able to address this problem. Thanks for your help.
    Pat Spelrem

You could adjust the mailnews.tcptimeout preference, as explained in the 2nd point in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Can_not_send_large_attachments this article]. Also, make sure there's no security program scanning outgoing mail attachments.

  • "Your computer isn't connected to the internet"

I hope I can make this succinct....
Earlier today, Airport suddenly quit working. I couldn't access the internet (getting message "your computer isn't connected to the internet") and my email wouldn't work. I restarted the computer and it worked fine, for awhile. Then the same problem arose.
I ran the network diagnostics. When i started, all Network Status lights were red (Airport, Airport settings, Network settings, ISP, Internet, Server all said "failed".)
I selected the location "automatic" and then chose network port configuration "Airport". That made the airport light turn green, but the rest remained red.
It asked me which airport network to join and i picked the appropriate one. I know the network is working because I'm using it on a separate computer to type and send this. The airport light remained green and the rest remained red.
It asked if I use PPPoE or DHCP. Since I've always used DHCP in the past, I presume that continues to be the case. So I chose DHCP.
It asked if I use a cable modem or DSL. I said yes, but it didn't need to be reset.
The first couple times I tried this diagnostic, the ISP button would turn yellow in the beginning and later a pop up would showup saying "yor network settings have changed" or something to that effect.
Any idea what might be causing this and/or how to solve it? I presume a network setting just got messed up but I have no idea what it might be.

Hi, was this after the dreaded last Security update or two?
Two things to try right now...
Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
Then Apply. These are safer/faster than most ISP's NDS numbers, and have been patched against DNS poisoning.
Sometimes having an all OFF Location can help, thanks to Gnarlodious...

  • HT4410 I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit full version Home Premium using Bootcamp and cannot get access to the internet. I installed on a Macbook Air Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion. Are there some drivers that are missing from the Windows 7

Dear Apple. I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit full version Home Premium using Bootcamp and cannot get access to the internet. I installed on a Macbook Air Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion. Are there some drivers that are missing from the Windows 7 bootcamp install download from Apple

It is a Total Misconception that the Support files are installed when you are installing Windows, even if the USB drive that holds them is inserted in the system when doing the Windows install.
You must always Run the Setup.exe files from the support files or run the drivers individually once Windows has finished installing and booted to the desktop.
Also you really need to run the Boot Camp Control Panel Applet and check for updates as not all the newest drivers for full function of all the hardware is included with the original support download. That download is basically a generic version to get the system working and without doing the updates not everything will work properly.

I have tried to update my iOS 7.3.0 and I keep getting a msg saying bit connected to the Internet and I am connected by WiFi plus my phone has Internet connected also, I have repeatedly clicked on retry, still get message bit connected to Internet

Try this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694 and look at this section.
Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com
Error 1004, 1013, 1638, 3194: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

I cannot synch movies to my iPad.  This has worked for me in the past.  I keep getting an error message that I am not connected to the internet.  Yet, I certainly am.  How else could I post this message.  I can listen to music clips from the iTunes store, fetch my email, and read current newspapers on the internet.  I restarted both my iMac and my Ipad and that didnot help.

I completely understand what is happening. I know that you are connected to the Internet. I made the suggestion because I have seen it work in similar circumstances. The Apple iTunes servers can be a bit fussy about things and sometimes rebooting the router clears up this miscommunication between iTunes and your network.
Have you tried signing into your account and then try to sync again. Go to Store>View Account. You will have to enter your password. Then try to sync again. Or try signing out completely in Store>Sign out. Quit iTunes, sign in again and then try to sync again.
Sometimes refreshing settings will help clear up weird problems.
