Soon to be former Verizon customers

Former Verizon customers may want to consider sending Frontier Communications an email and or hand written letter such as the example I have provided below.  It seems that Frontier has a 5GB limit on it's high speed dsl internet service tier.
Hello,
I am one of the customers from the state of Illinois impacted by the deal that your company and Verizon have devised to divest Verizon of it's responsibilities to maintain a copper wireline network across 14 states.  I just received notice from Verizon timed to conveniently be issued after securing the approval of the state regulators of my state and 13 others.  The notice only talks about the local and long distance services Verizon offers to my area.  There is no mention about the internet services, high speed or otherwise anywhere in this notice.  Currently I pay to Verizon $29.99 a month for the 3mbs tier of service. This is the $29.99 for life plan. I am very much interested if Frontier Communications plans to honor these Verizon contracts with the same speed and level of service at the same price.  Also I am very concerned about Frontier's questionably 5GB limit of service which I keep reading about on some consumer websites. If indeed your service places 5GB per month caps on the dsl service, how do your justify having and promoting a streaming tv service www.myfitv.com? As we all know streaming high quality video tv shows and especially full length movies consumes and uses considerably high bandwidth.  I for one am not a light internet user who just does the occasional email and web surfing. I like to watch and view streaming videos. I play online only games such as World of Warcraft. And of course I do surf the web and visit many websites that may have streaming video content which again uses more bandwidth then your average website.  I also have two game systems and soon to be a 3rd that also have, use high bandwidth requirements. Such as the download of game demos and full games purchased via their respective marketplace services. So as you can see it will not be very hard to go over the 5GB limit in any given 30 day period.
So once again in closing I would just like to know how Frontier is going to be handling the internet end of their Verizon acquisition of landline wireline service.  Particularly are you going to honor the current Verizon $29.99 for life plan for unlimited bandwidth? If not then it may be time to move onto a different internet service provider as well as the cancellation of wiredline phone service.

  • Microsoft all ready has an update for Windows Phone 8.1 Verizon customers still don't have WP 8.1. UGH!

Microsoft has all ready released an update to Windows Phone 8.1. Us Verizon customers don't even have WP 8.1. *** Verizon?  My contract with Verizon is up in November this is the tipping point.  I am not going to renew my contract.  I will just buy the phone out right and sign up for Straight Talk.  Then I don't need to have the "Nanny service provider (Verizon)" telling me when I am able to obtain a device update.  Thanks for nothing Verizon.

On one side, I can understand that maybe (and that's a BIG maybe) Verizon wants to make sure they have enough data (pardon the pun) regarding the successful adaptation of the update for it's customers in order to make sure everything goes smoothly.  However, I find that Verizon likes to keep customers in the dark regarding time frames.  It's interesting to see on some of the similar titles message boards entries on this topic have Verizon monitors ready to wipe out entries if they violate terms of service on the forums.  But, when asked directly about time frames for Windows updates, you either get a link to some Verizon news page (which is of no help), or nothing at all.  A number of people called Verizon customer service and get varied answers like: "Sometime this summer", "Soon", or even an "I don't know, they don't even tell us either"...which is the answer I got one time.  Very discouraging.  I had a choice between the Windows Phone, or a Samsung Galaxy phone.  I chose Windows because of it's features.  Beginning to regret it now, since support for it on Verizon appears to be dismal at best.

Sorry to hear about your collections mishap, just keep in mind this is a peer to peer forum for customers and you likely will not receive the help you are looking for from Verizon.
Now you say that the account went to collections and you have paid it. So at this point I am not sure what you can negotiate anymore. I've read that if you have something in collections and tell the collecting company that you will pay them if they remove the negative mark from your credit, they will negotiate it with you.
In this situation, if things are as you say and you did not receive the final bill at the correct address, then you may have an argument to take to the credit bureaus. I would file a report with the credit bureaus and see where that takes me, also once your account goes to collections to my knowledge it doesn't have anything to do with Verizon anymore. The debt is between you and the collections company. I would try to contact them and see if you can somehow negotiate having the collection removed from your credit report seeing as the debt has been settled and the bill was never sent to your correct address.
I haven't really ever dealt with an account in collections, so this is just some helpful information I have thought of, if anything is not accurate in how you can deal with this, I apologize.

  • Verizon Edge not offered to longstanding Verizon customers.

Why are current Verizon customers who are under contract and not eligible for an upgrade not eligible for Verizon Edge? It would seem to me that long standing Verizon customers should be rewarded with new plans instead of being held to current/out dated contracts.  Wouldn't Verizon be best served to make current customers happy and keep them under contract? In my case, I will most likely wait until my contract to expires and move to TMobile. Furthermore, I currently have the Verizon unlimited data plan and Verizon Edge would probably be the only way I would voluntarily give up unlimited data.It seems that Verizon is satisfied with keeping long standing client in old plans.

I don't understand this program - at all.
The whole idea of Edge is to allow you to upgrade early. But, if you have to be eligible for an upgrade what is the point? If my contract has expired and I can upgrade, why do I need Edge?
Can someone explain what I am missing here?

I have an iMac for work and I am leaving the company. How do I clear the computer so that my soon to be former company is unable to see my personal information Ie. - internet, contacts, etc...

Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
Step One - Back up your data:
           A. If you have any Virtual PCs shut them down. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
           B. Clone to an external drive using using Carbon Copy Cloner.
              1. Open Carbon Copy Cloner.
              2. Select the Source volume from the Select a source drop down menu on the left side.
              3. Select the Destination volume from the Select a destination drop down menu on the right
                  side.
              4. Click on the Clone button. If you are prompted about creating a clone of the Recovery HD be
                  sure to opt for that.
Destination means a freshly erased external backup drive. Source means the internal
                   startup drive.
Step Two - Prepare the machine for the new buyer:
              1. De-authorize the computer in iTunes! De-authorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
2, Remove any Open Firmware passwords or Firmware passwords.
              3. Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
              4. Turn off File Vault, if enabled.
              5. Disable iCloud, if enabled: See.What to do with iCloud before selling your computer
Step Three - Install a fresh OS:
         A. Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X
              1. Insert the original OS X install CD/DVD that came with your computer.
              2. Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
              3. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu; repartition and reformat the internal hard drive.
Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              4. Install OS X.
              5. Upon completion DO NOT restart the computer.
              6. Shutdown the computer.
         B. Lion and Mountain Lion (if pre-installed on the computer at purchase*)
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because
it is three times faster than wireless.
              1. Restart the computer while holding down the COMMAND and R keys until the Mac OS X
                  Utilities window appears.
              2. Select Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities window and click on the Continue button.
              3. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click
on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
              4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button
and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              5. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
              6. Quit DU and return to the Mac OS X Utilities window.
              7. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
              8. Upon completion shutdown the computer.
*If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store then you cannot transfer your license to another party. In the case of the latter you should install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. You need to repartition the hard drive as well as reformat it; this will assure that the Recovery HD partition is removed. See Step Three above. You may verify these requirements by reviewing your OS X Software License.

  • A Verizon cellphone tower in my area is feeding multiple Verizon Customers / Devices with the incorrect time (one hour behind) when we are in range of this tower

A Verizon cellphone tower in my area is feeding multiple Verizon Customers / Devices with the incorrect time (one hour behind) when we are in range of this tower (in this specific area).   Our phones show the correct time in other areas.   Is there a way to fix or report this?

The zip code that this is occurring in is: 87102
    Specifically when I am at
    1001 Woodward Pl NE
    Albuquerque, NM 87102
Upon further investigation, it is happening to anyone with a Verizon handset, regardless of specific device.  I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and my co-worker has a Motorola Droid Turbo and we are both having the issue.  Anyone on a different carrier (T-Mobile, AT&T) is fine, and is not experiencing this issue.
It actually looks like the cell tower is feeding us the correct time, but its like it forgot daylight savings happened.  So it is feeding us the incorrect time zone/day light savings information.
When I goto Settings -> Date and Time on my Android device,  I have both "Automatic date and time" and "Automatic time zone" checked.
the "Automatic timezone" it is pulling from the Verizon cell tower is "Mountain -7".   It is correct that we are in the "Mountain" timezone, but we are currently "Mountain -6" (also known as day light savings).   So the Cell Tower things it MST when it should be MST DST
When I uncheck "Automatic time zone" and select my own, suddenly it lets me select "Mountain -6" and doesn't even give me the option of "Mountain -7".
So in conclusion, some cell tower in the area of zip code 87102 forgot that daylight savings ever happened, and is telling cellphones they are in the "Mountain -7" timezone, instead of the correct current timezone of "Mountain -6 DST"
Edit: Oh, sorry, and to answer your question, it began happening about 3 weeks ago.  We started noticing around March 25th, maybe a little after that.

  • NSA collecting phone records of millions of Verizon customers daily

"Top secret court order requiring Verizon to hand over all call data shows scale of domestic surveillance under Obama"
Folks, you need to read this article.  Did Verizon protest this Obama Administration order, even going to the courts to not comply?  No word of that in the Guardian article.
Of course, now that I've posted this, the National Security Agency will flag me.
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/06/nsa-phone-records-verizon-court-order

Bozlo,  I thought the same thing, but how do we know Obama isn't gathering all the data from the other carriers as well?  I would not put it past that lying traitor.
Here's another article about it.  The is really hitting the fan today.  Yet one more Obama scandal.  I hope we take the Senate and keep the House in 2014 (I'm sure we will) and that our Congressmen and Senators have the guts to impeach this fraud.  He has trampled the Constitution and Bill of Rights...he disgusts me.

  • Cannot send text messages to Verizon customers

    Hi
I cannot send text messages to other verizon customers but can send to non vz. This has been happening since last night. Is there an update I need to perform? I have an iPhone 6 plus. Thanks

    Hi
Thank you for your message. It seems like it is certain Verizon iPhone users. I did not download any new apps or perform any software updates on my iPhone. The ppl I could send text messages to were non VZ non iPhone users. Today I can only send to some iPhone users. They also had error messages sending text messages to me but not to my daughters iPhone (we r on a VZ family plan). Do I need to perform an update like *228 or something like that? Thank you!

  • Why are my text messages not delivered from Verizon Customers to my new provider?

I ported two numbers away from Verizon and now Verizon is apparently blocking text messages from Verizon customers to my new provider.
I can get texts from AT&T, Sprint, TMobile, and anyone else. Unfortunately, I cannot get texts from Verizon customers.
I have been right next to a friend with a Verizon android who texted to my non-Verizon android, and it never got through. My new provider says that this is not uncommon.
I have been on with Verizon tech support, and while they are nice enough, they have not been able to fix anything.
Verizon, please take responsibility to fix this!

rowdyonez, thanks for helping us support Frustrated_Former_Verizon_Cust with information regarding how to resolve their text messaging issue. Let's make sure that this isn't a memory capacity issue. The first thing that we recommend is to delete all unwanted text messages and power the devices off/on to soft reset. Keep us posted. We can assist right here in this forum, too.

  • Texting to verizon customers not unlimited?

For the first time ever since I've had a cell phone (so at least 8 years), my husband and I went over our allowance in texting.  It was always my understanding that texting from one Verizon customer to another is unlimited.  Is this not true?

Depends on which plan you have.....
5000 messages pluus unlimited vzw mobile to mobile messaging  - $20
500 messages plus unlimited vzw mobile to mobile messaging  -$10
    250 messages all together  -$5
If you gave the $5 messaging plan you do not get unlimited messaging with Verizon customers. Are you both using other things for text messaging like mobile IM?

Your daughter will have to send it back to you. You will have to reactivate it on you line. You will then have to request to have it unlocked. See THIS thread for more information.

  • When will the blackberry classic be available to verizon customers?

When will the Blackberry Classic be available to verizon customers? It says on the blackberry pre-order page that it is not for verizon customers, so if I order it from there it won't work, right? BlackBerry US Online Store - BlackBerry Classic (Pre-Order)

It seems that shopblackberry.com always sells just the GSM models of phones, I have never seen one compatible with Verizon. It is likely mid December before the official release of the Classic, quite sure VZW will carry it.

  • Multiple Verizon Customers can't make/receive calls

Me, my wife, and 2 other Verizon customers in our neighborhood are having problems. We can connect to 3g, have good signal for the most part, but we can't make or receive calls or text messages. I, my wife, and one friend all have the 4s, for sure, and I have another friend in the neighborhood (model unknown) who is experiencing the same problem. We can connect to 3g, but can't make/receive calls or texts over CDMA (apparently). I've hit the "Extended" network a few times and made calls. My Verizon signal is and has always been 50%-75% usually, with 100% sometimes. My friend says his daugher's iPhone 4 is working without issues.
When we get away from home, our phones work fine. My biggest concern is safety, since we have no landline at home. It's been this way since I've got home 330 p.m. Friday. Going on 48 hours now.
I would have called customer service, but....

This is a customer-to-customer forum, not Customer Service.  Have you tried contacting Customer Service via some else's phone or by going to the local Corporate store?  Maybe there's an outage in your area?
