Sorry ! invoking a servlet with an html

Please answer the q. below with this topic in concern!

Which servlet container / application server (JRun, Resin, JBoss, Websphere, WebLogic, Tomcat,... ) is running on your system ?
Is apache configured to load the shared module of the servlet container ?
You must have something like the follwing in your httpd.conf
# add tomcat connector
AddModule mod_jk2.c
# add websphere
AddModule mod_app_server_http.c
LoadModule jk2_module /usr/lib/apache/mod_jk2.so
LoadModule app_server_http_module /usr/local/WebSphere/AppServer/bin/mod_app_server_http.so
# websphere needs an additional line
WebSpherePluginConfig /usr/local/WebSphere/AppServer/config/cells/plugin-cfg.xml
is there an entry in the apache error.log ? can you post it ?

  • Uploading an image to a servlet with out  html form

    Hello,
    I had a look around the forum and could not find an answer to my question.
    I am trying to unload an image that is in a byte array to a servlet. the image is on the mobile phone. the mobile phone does not have html form to upload the picture.
    Is there any other way of uploading instead of using html form to invoke the servlet. It is just the connection bit that is confusing me. When the servlet is invoked then it can open an inputstream and take in the image.
    I hope this is clear and that some one else has done it.
    thanks

    search here and/or search google for "send byte array to servlet"
    it's certainly easy to find as far as i can tell

  • Servlet with HTML using JDBC lookup

              Dear Friends
              How are you?
              I am designing a servlet with two drop down lists one on top and the other below.
              I implemented drop down lists using dynamic embedded HTML and SELECT tags.
              I want the user to make a selection in the first drop down list, and the second
              drop down list should display a list based on the selection made in the first
              drop down list.
              Please comment in detail on the most efficient way of achieving this.
              Thanking you
              Very truly yours

    For this I'd probably load all the values for both drop down list and use

    Maybe your URL needs to use POST.

  • Html- writing servlet with a twist

    Is there any benefit in having a servlet create an html page automatically, write it down into a .htm file and then use some redirect command to serve the html file to the client?
    Later on, when the request is over, the servlet can delete the file.
    Is there any usefulness in such configuration?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    I agree these are 2 different paradigms. However, some variations of this are still used:
    Message Boards
    -Some message boards create an .html file and append to it (typically they do not delete).
    Historical Reports
    -Many companies need to keep hard (or soft) copies of reports generated.
    Writing them to a file would accomplish this.
    A TON of multimedia content
    -If your HTML output has a ton (and I mean a ton) of multimedia content it would increase performance to write the HTML and redirect to the page, because you would not need to load the content in the VM and then have it served.
    Server Limitations (EXTREME)
    -I've seen 1 (count them 1) situation where the server was configured that only one instance of the servlet could run. To increase performance the programmer created the .html page on initialize and redirected as long as the file was created. She deleted the page when the servlet was unloaded. This is an extreme situation where the guy who was administoring the server was an idiot and did not want to work the developer!!!
    Outside of these unique situations, I do not see a benifit to generating a static file.

  • Deploying Servlet with HTML file on Tomcat

    Hi ,
    I created a servlet and an html file. The html file accepts user data and passes it to servlet.
    I want to deploy these two files using Tomcat server. Please tell me a sure procedure for deploying both files.
    Regards,
    ap.

    First of all its better to make a jsp rather than one HTML and a servlet but anyhow in order to deploy it first build your project and create a war file which should contain your HTML and servlet and the web.xml.
    Then place this war file inside the webapps folder of tomcat.Start the tomcat and hit your HTML on the browser....

  • Web Intelligence: Save Report as PDF and with embedded HTML code

    Hi all.
    Sorry but I'm not able to find any post about this matter, please feel free to provide links if you know existing topics about this problem.
    We created a beautiful report with HTML5 code embedded into a blank cell and we are now trying to export it in a printable format (e.g.: PDF or HTML).
    As you know (as per manual information) it is not possible to export a report with embedded HTML code and keeping it in the output (cell with embedded HTML code is rendered blank).
    My question is: is there a known workaround or an alternative solution to export the report and keep its content?
    Print screen is not a valid option :-P
    Thanks for the support or any suggestions

  • A problem with servlets with  WebLogic 4.5.1 SP11

              Hello,
              We have developed a client that connects to servlets in WebLogic 4.5.1. Some of the servlets use sessions to store data, and they receive some parameters from the client to retrieve information from a database.
              When we use WebLogic 4.5.1, everything works fine. However, when we upgrade it to Service Pack 11, we find a problem. If we make a servlet that receives some parameters, but it does no use sessions, everything is correct. If we make a servlet that does not receive any parameter, and we use sessions, we find no problem either. But if we make a servlet that receives parameters and uses sessions within the doPost() method, there is an exception when we call the method Request.getSession(true).
              I would thank any help about this point, since I'm not sure if this is the result of a bug, or if there is a new parameter that we have to set in the file weblogic.properties, or any other reason.
              The code of our servlet is as simple as follows:
              public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws IOException {
                   ObjectInputStream in = new ObjectInputStream(request.getInputStream());
                   String arg = null;
                   String arg2 = null;
                   String arg3 = null;
                   try{
                        arg = (String)in.readObject();
                        arg2 = (String)in.readObject();
                        arg3 = (String)in.readObject();
                   }catch(Exception e){
                   // Get the session and the counter param attribute
                   HttpSession session = request.getSession(true);
              // WE GET THE EXCEPTION AT THIS POINT.
                   Integer ival = (Integer) session.getValue("simplesession.counter");
                   if (ival == null)
                        // Initialize the counter
                        ival = new Integer(1);
                   else
                        // Increment the counter
                        ival = new Integer(ival.intValue() + 1);
                   // Set the new attribute value in the session
                   session.putValue("simplesession.counter", ival);
                   // Output data
                   ObjectOutputStream out = new ObjectOutputStream(response.getOutputStream());
                   out.writeObject(ival);
                   out.close();
              On the other hand, the client invokes the serlvets using the following code:
              public int servletClient(String usuario,String password) {
                   int numero = 0;
                   try{
                        // Input parameters
                        Serializable[] objs = {"login",usuario, password};
                        // Invokes the servlet
                        ObjectInputStream in = ServletWriter.postObjects(urlServlet, objs); // SEE BELOW...
                        // Get the results
                        numero = ((Integer)in.readObject()).intValue();
                        in.close();
                   }catch(Exception e){
                        e.printStackTrace();
              static public ObjectInputStream postObjects(URL servlet, Serializable objs[]) throws Exception
                        URLConnection con = servlet.openConnection();
                        con.setDoInput(true);
                        con.setDoOutput(true);
                        con.setUseCaches(false);
                        con.setRequestProperty("Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
                        // Write the arguments as post data
                        ObjectOutputStream out = new ObjectOutputStream(con.getOutputStream());
                        int numObjects = objs.length;
                        for (int x = 0; x < numObjects; x++) {
                             out.writeObject(objs[x]);
                        out.flush();

  • Method to get the file path that invoked a servlet

    i have a html file that invokes a servlet.Within the servlet i want a method that gives me the path of the html file.Is this possible without using cookies.or is there any method that serves my purpose?

    Hi,
    after reading the last posts I think you should try what KPSeal said (althought I haven't tried it) or use my last suggestion :
    on your HTML link (which will be handled by server) add an extra parameter (e.g. http://handle.xxx?page=mypage.HTML) and catch it inside the servlet code to know from what page it came.
    nevertheless, about the getRequestURL() (and getRequestURI()) it's a method from the interface HttpServletRequest, in the package javax.servlet.http that comes in the Servlet API. (you can find the servlet API at http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/download.html), but I believe if you have a servlet you already should have inside it the request object.

    I'm getting the ADF tables displayed using ADF Bindings, if the faces servlet is mapped for jspx format;but, at the cost of losing Facelets...Facelets is not working with Faces Servlet mapped to jspx format(though written in jspx format, the faces servlet mappping has to be made for jsf format.On the other hand, if I use faces servlet mapping for jsf pages I'm getting Facelets working but ADF Databindings are not working ,(I guess) and hence ADF Faces Tables are not being displayed(I'm getting Access Denied message).
    I even tried to change the ADF binding filter mappings
    ---- from ---- jsp &jspx---- to ----- jsp and jsf ----
    But I got the same Access denied message.
    I read a similar post on this forum by Mr.Ashish Kumar who said he is using java script and automatic form submission, to refresh the page and that gave him the table working.
    as quoted in the post:
    af:table displays Access Denied
    Why should the page be refreshed at all. I Guess , the Faces Servlet is not being invoked by the ADF Bindings Filter/Servlet, and for this , I suppose , Mr.Ashish is using java script to provide the action required.
    And one more thing which that Automatic Refreshing of page using JavaScript cannot do.
    Suppose,
    I need customised display, rather than just a Table or Form,like:
    public String getEmp() {
    BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
    OperationBinding operationBinding =
    bindings.getOperationBinding("findAllEmp");
    Object result = operationBinding.execute();
    if (!operationBinding.getErrors().isEmpty()) {
    return null;
    List<Emp> res=(List<Emp>)result;
    for(int i=0;i<res.size();i++)
    Emp myrec=res.get(i);
    System.out.println("Employee ["+myrec.getEname()+"], Salary ["+myrec.getSal()+"]");
    return "";
    where I do some customisation in the backing bean.
    and I call that method binded to a button as below:
    <af:commandButton
    text="findAllEmp"
    disabled="#{!bindings.findAllEmp.enabled}"
    binding="#{backing_Success.commandButton1}"
    id="commandButton1"
    action="#{backing_Success.getEmp}"/>
    What I'm getting is a disabled button.
    Why doesn't ADF bindings servlet invoke the faces Servlet?
    Can't we make ADF Bindings Servlet invoke Faces Servlet by configuring in the web.xml?
    Can't we get ADF Bindings filter mapped to work with jsf pages?
    Won't ADF Bindings work with jsf pages, will they work only with jspx pages?
    ADF Team,
    Please Help me.
    Thanking you,
    Samba

    Hi! Frank,
    Thankyou for your Reply.
    Yes, Mr.Adam Winer has contributed that library, I guess.
    But I already have that adf-facelets.jar in my lib folder ; and with out that the Facelets won't work with ADF faces , in the first place.
    I'm getting Facelets working excellently with ADF Faces but I'm not getting ADF Bindings working with Faceletpages.
    The thing is even in another application which does not have facelets in it, if we use mapping for jsf pages, ADF Bindings are not working.
    I think the ADF bindings filter is configured some where to work with jspx pages only.Could you tell me where to change that entry to make ADF Bindings work with jsf extension?
    Thanking you,
    Samba.

  • How to invoke a Servlet method from application

    please help me.the scenario is as follows
    1)a servlet is placed on the server and application has invoked servlet with URL and URL Connection class
    but how do i call a certain method of servlet on the server from the application.Let suppose the servlet's method to be invoked is print(String s).How it can be done from application.

    As GrayMan suggested, Servlets are intended to be used for HTTP communication.
    If you want to open common logic to multiple clients, use EJBs, CORBA or some type of Web Service (SOAP, XML-RPC).
    When you send a request to a servlet, the doPost or doGet method will be invoked. Products such as STRUTS allow you do 'map' to other classes. I suggest avoiding this.
    Personally, I avoid STRUTS like a bad disease. Using STRUTS instead of just learning Servlets/JSP adds a lot of overhead. I prefer performance over development time. A good example of this is that ANY request that comes in over the WEB has ALL variables from the calling page (text boxes, radio buttons and such) made avaialable through the HttpServletRequest.getParameter(String parameterName) method. STRUTS requires you to build a subclass of it's ActionForm classes that is nothing more than a JavaBean with fields that match that of the web page. STRUTS will look at all the parameters in the request and all the fields in the Bean and assign any matches from the request to the Bean. The Bean is instanciated and the matching logic performed just to give you access to objects you already have access to.
    Just my 2 cents, avoid STRUTS like an STD.

  • How to invoke a servlet from an application-URGENT

    Hi,
              My requirement is as follows :
              I have to invoke a servlet from a client application. I am using
              java.net.URL and java.netURLConnection classes to
              open a connection and invoke the servlet.
              I am using WebLogic5.1
              my code snippet is as follows :
              URL url = new URL("http://localhost:7001/urlservlet");
              URLConnection connection = url.openConnection();
              connection.setRequestMethod("GET");
              connection.setDoOutput(true);
              connection.setDoInput(true);
              PrintStream outStream = new PrintStream( connection.getOutputStream() );
              outStream.print("message=hai");
              outStream.flush();
              outStream.close();
              When I execute the application, Webloigc server console is displaying the
              following line.
              <Listen Thread> Adding Address : <machine name><ip address>
              But the service method of servlet is not getting invoked at all.
              Help me to find the answer.

              If you want to send Java object you have to use POST:
              URLConnection conn = ...
              conn.setDoOutput(true); // makes this a POST
              OutputStream os = conn.getOutputStream();
              ...write your objects here...
              os.flush();
              os.close();
              InputStream in = conn.getInputStream(); // sends data to the server and
              // opens input stream
              ..read servlet response..
              .. ot just close the stream...
              in.close();

  • How to invoke a servlet from MDB

    Hi,
    Can someone please tell me how to invoke a servlet from MDB. Actually I want to have a MDB that will invoke a servlet that takes arround ~3 minutes to process and send the response back to MDB. Any small code snippet on invoking a servlet.
    Thanks

    nope. this is probably a bad design.
    but here's a hint: whenever you have a question like this, start browsing the javadocs. chances are there's a class that might help you.
    i'd recommend that you look at this:
