Sort result of multple query to table model

I have two query at the db
query 1 return this coloumn
NAME SURNAME COLOR
query 2 return:
NAME SURNAME AGE
I MUST build a tablemodel that contain
NAME SURNAME COLOR AGE
order by NAME, SURNAME
Is it possible?
I don't know what is the best way....

  • Limit the number of results from a querying a table

    I have a table, NAMES, that holds appx 50 names.
    I want to be able to list a certain amount of names and once that limit is reached( 6 or 7 or so), output a row / link / statement that says, you've reached your limit.
    For example the output would look similar to :
    Jim
    John
    James
    Mike
    Henry
    Mark
    'Limit Reached'
    'Limit Reached' would eventually need to be a link, but I am already familiar with creating links from query results, persay.
    I've experimented with listagg, case statements and decode but am not sure how to do this. I'm thinking decode is the way to go but am not sure how to keep track of a counter as the sql is running. This needs to be written in sql only, not pl/sql, if possible. My query so far is
    Select first, last
    From Names
    where rownum <= 6
    Not sure how to accomplish this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

    I have tested these using union. However, I also have columns I need to include that aren't text fields (such as an ID column, which is a number / integer type). I can't use NULL. Is there anything to substitue for this?
    Other people can use NULL.  Why can't you?
    If you could use NULL. then you could do something like this:
    SELECT  ename
    ,       job
    ,       sal     -- a NUMBER column
    FROM    scott.emp
    WHERE   ROWNUM  <= 6
        UNION ALL
    SELECT  'Limit reached'
    ,       NULL    -- in place of a VARCHAR2
    ,       NULL    -- in place of a NUMBER
    FROM    dual
    Output:
    ENAME         JOB              SAL
    SMITH         CLERK            800
    ALLEN         SALESMAN        1600
    WARD          SALESMAN        1250
    JONES         MANAGER         2975
    MARTIN        SALESMAN        1250
    BLAKE         MANAGER         2850
    Limit reached
    7 rows selected.

  • How to execute a procedure depending on the result of a query?

    Hello, I'm new in ODI.
    I want to execute a procedure depending on the result of a query Oracle table.
    We have a Oracle Table whit a column that contains two possibles values.
    I want read the table, row by row, and depending on this value, execute a Procedure or execute another.
    How can i do?

    what you need to do is
    1. create a variable which "new_var2" which has the count of the number of rows you want to process. must be data type numeric.
    2. copy "new_var2" to the package screen.
    3. duplicate the "new_var2" on the package screen and evaluate the variable and test for "> 0" zero, call it "new_var2_E"
    3. create a new odi variable "new_var1" with a refresh of "select field1 fom (select field1,rownum as rownumber from tablex) where rownumber = #new_var2" in the relevant schema and technology.
    4. copy "new_var1" into your package (some where in the flow)
    5. right click the "new_var1" variable in you package screen and you should get the option duplicate step (click on that)
    6. select the the duplicate "new_var1" on the package screen and correct the the name to something meaning full to you "new_var1_E", also change the "type" to "evaluate variable" then you should see a "value" box. enter one of the values you want to test in the box (remember do not put in quotes ' )
    7. now back on the package screen join the "new_var1" to the "new_var1_E" with an OK line
    8 you now join "new_var2" to "new_var2_E" with OK
    9 you join "new_var2_E" to "new_var1"
    10. you then join the "new_var1_E" with an OK or a KO line to the relevant procedure.
    12. you need to duplicate "new_var2" in the package screen one more time this time and call it "new_var2_D" set the type to evaluate and then select the increment of -1
    13. the relevant procedure to "new_var2_D" with an OK
    14. join the "new_var2_D" to the "new_var2_E" with an OK
    15. this should close off the loop now the exit point is "new_var2_E" with a KO line to the next part of your process....
    Basically you should end up with a loop on new_var2 decementing, and it is used to get a specific next record row from your table.
    Hope this helps, sorry it is a little long winded..

  • Custom table model, table sorter, and cell renderer to use hidden columns

    Hello,
    I'm having a hard time figuring out the best way to go about this. I currently have a JTable with an custom table model to make the cells immutable. Furthermore, I have a "hidden" column in the table model so that I can access the items selected from a database by their recid, and then another hidden column that keeps track of the appropriate color for a custom cell renderer.
    Subject -- Sender -- Date hidden rec id color
    Hello Pete Jan 15, 2003 2900 blue
    Basically, when a row is selected, it grabs the record id from the hidden column. This essentially allows me to have a data[][] object independent of the one that is used to display the JTable. Instinctively, this does not seem right, but I don't know how else to do it. I know that the DefaultTableModel uses a Vector even when it's constructed with an array and I've read elsewhere that it's not a good idea to do what I'm trying to do.
    The other complication is that I have a table sorter as well. So, when it sorts the objects in the table, I have it recreate the data array and then set the data array of the ImmutableTableModel when it has rearranged all of the items in the array.
    On top of this, I have a custom cell renderer as well. This checks yet another hidden field and displays the row accordingly. So, not only does the table sort need to inform the table model of a change in the data structure, but also the cell renderer.
    Is there a better way to keep the data in sync between all of these?

    To the OP, having hidden columns is just fine, I do that all the time.. Nothing says you have to display ALL the info you have..
    Now, the column appears to be sorting properly
    whenever a new row is added. However, when I attempt
    to remove the selected row, it now removes a seemingly
    random row and I am left with an unselectable blank
    line in my JTable.I have a class that uses an int[] to index the data.. The table model displays rows in order of the index, not the actual order of the data (in my case a Vector of Object[]'s).. Saves a lotta work when sorting..
    If you're using a similar indexing scheme: If you're deleting a row, you have to delete the data in the vector at the INDEX table.getSelectedRow(), not the actual data contained at
    vector.elementAt(table.getSelectedRow()). This would account for a seemingly 'random' row getting deleted, instead of the row you intend.
    Because the row is unselectable, it sounds like you have a null in your model where you should have a row of data.. When you do
    vector.removeElementAt(int), the Vector class packs itself. An array does not. If you have an array, when you delete the row you must make sure you dont have that gap.. Make a new array of
    (old array length-1), populate it, and give it back to your model.. Using Vectors makes this automatic.
    Also, you must make sure your model knows the data changed:
    model.fireTableDataChanged(); otherwise it has no idea anything happened..
    IDK if that's how you're doing it, but it sounds remarkably similar to what I went thru when I put all this together..

  • Table with some columns with result of a query

    Hi:
    I would like to show the result of a query in some colums. For example, if I have a table of cities and I get 6 cities in my query, show them in two rows of 3 columns.
    I had thought use a forEach component of ADF, but I have no get nothing.... ;(
    Any ideas???

    Hi again:
    My idea is, for example show 3 columns of a query. Let´s suposse that we have 9 rows in the result of a query. I know how to show them in the same colum but... How to separate them in diferent colums?
    Result of the query = 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
    I would like to show the results so that:
    Col1 Col2 Col3
    1--------2--------3
    4--------5--------6
    7--------8--------9

  • How to query a table and result together with autonumber

    Hi all
    How to query a table and the result return autonumber for each row together with the table values.
    I have tried rowid but it provide me with characters.
    Tj

    What is your exact requirement?
    If you want the number of rows selected, you can use rownum.
    select rownum, a.* from <table> a;

  • Extracting the result of a query into a internal table

    Hi,
    Does anyone knows or have an idea how to extract the result of a query into a internal table, is there a function module or BAPI?
    Thanks in advance,
    CK

    So then normally I would use a statment like:
    IFunctionTemplate ftemplate = repository.getFunctionTemplate("<b>BAPI_SALESORDER_GETLIST</b>");
    to call a particluar function, but I tried using
    IFunctionTemplate ftemplate = repository.getFunctionTemplate("<b>BAPI_MDDATAPROVIDERBW_GETCATALOGS</b>");
    and it did not seem to work. I also tried -
    IFunctionTemplate ftemplate = repository.getFunctionTemplate("<b>MDDataProviderBW.GetCatalogs</b>");
    How do I format the function?

  • Can the Results of a Query be a Data Source?

    I'm sure this has been covered somewhere but I couldn't find what I was after sssoooooooooo...
    I have a small interrface that loads data from a file into a table, I have a query which changes the data into a different format and structure prior to loading it into another table.
    Currently, I am using 2 stored procs to do the format change and load to the new table...
    Basically, is there any way of setting up a query as a data source and map the results of the query into a target??
    As always - your feedback and input is greatly appreciated
    Thanks,
    Gee

    The idea here is to not drag and drop a datastore as a target, but to create this datastore directly in the interface. You can then use this interface as source of another interface.
    here is the doc... Let me know if you need more help.
    Target Datastore
    An interface can have only one target datastore. There are two possibilities for this datastore:
    A permanent datastore, corresponding to a datastore that already exists in a model.
    A temporary datastore, that does not yet exist in a model, and which will thus be created dynamically by the interface, in either the work or data schema of the logical schema of the Staging Area specified on the Definition tab of the interface.
    The target datastore, with the mapping for each column, is displayed on the right of the Diagram tab.
    To edit the properties of the target datastore, click on the datastore title. The properties panel will appear at the bottom of the window.

  • Getting the actual size of the result of a query

    Hi,
    I would like to ask if someone knows on how to get an estimate size of the result of a query on a table. To make it more specific, here is an example.
    Let us say I have this table called EMP and it has a column called DATE. I have issued a query like this:
    select * from EMP where DATE < to_date('01-AUG-08');
    I want to get the actual size of the result of the query in bytes or MB. How would i achieve this without creating another table and transferring the data on it.

    You can use SQL*Plus Autotrace to have the data size sent between client and database session:
    SQL> set autotrace traceonly statistics;
    SQL> select * from employees where hire_date < to_date('01/08/08');
    107 rows selected.
    Statistics
            430  recursive calls
              0  db block gets
            123  consistent gets
             11  physical reads
              0  redo size
           9405  bytes sent via SQL*Net to client
            457  bytes received via SQL*Net from client
              9  SQL*Net roundtrips to/from client
              3  sorts (memory)
              0  sorts (disk)
            107  rows processed

  • Is it possible to put the results from a query in a variable to use in the bean class?

    Hello, I'm using JDeveloper 12.1.2.0.0
    I would like to keep the result of my queries (the method i created in the AppModule) in a RichTable or other type of variable so i can have the results stored and i don't have to do unnecessary queries after. I don't think the query is the problem but keeping the results.
    I've tried to do that by using this:
        public String testVFactSales(String conditions) {
            PreparedStatement query = getDBTransaction().createPreparedStatement("" + "select * from v_fact_sales " + conditions, 0);
            //ResultSet rs;
            ResultSet result;
            //RichTable result;
            //String result = null;
            try {
                //query.setString(1, conditions);
                // query.execute();
                query.execute();
                result = query.getGeneratedKeys();
                query.close();
                System.out.println("Result: " + result.toString());
                return result.toString();
            } catch (SQLException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            return "";
    As you can see, i've already tried some solutions but so far i only get errors (cannot convert or null exception, when i try to put the result in a richtable in my bean class)
    Any ideas?
    This is very important for me, since it would improve the performance of my project a lot.

    Hey Arunkumar,
    I came to this conclusion since i'm using binding variables with my where clauses.
    I've measured the time and i get really bad time responses.
    This is my main table query, where all the others selections will be filter the search in this table:

  • Error when querying a table through the Query Window

    I am running a query on the following table in the ODT Query window - for some reason I get the error below when trying to retrieve the data - I can query the table just fine through SQL Plus - it errors out whether I use grid or text window
    ERROR

    I would have formatted it nicer - but that is the way that ODT created it :)

    Christian,
    I found that this happens when trying to query number fields that are reals with a large decimal value (26 decimal values and above seem to be the magic number). What is strange is that I don't get this problem when I retrieve data from the same table using the Retrieve data option (versus a query for all the data in the Query Window) so they don't seem to be utilizing the same basic code to grab and then display the data interestingly enough (I am sure you knew that). Does this allow you to replicate the issue?
    Thanks,
    Bryan

  • Weird result of oracle query before and after function base index creation

    Hi All,
    Here is the unique situation we are facing after creating just an index.
    The query result before the index and the query result after the index do not match.
    This is very illogical situation. Shidhar and me have done lot of R&D, also tried to get lots info from Google but we couldn't decipher the reason for that.
    I am giving you all the details about the query, index and tables with following steps.
    Please let us know if anything is going wrong from our side or is it a bug at oracle level which is a rarest possibility but a possibility.
    Step 1 :- Create table
    create table TEMP_COMP
    ID VARCHAR2(10),
    GROUP_ID VARCHAR2(10),
    TRAN_DATE DATE,
    AMT_1 NUMBER,
    AMT_2 NUMBER,

    delete from TEMP_COMP;

    prompt Loading TEMP_COMP...

    AND TO_CHAR(TRAN_DATE,'YYYYMM') BETWEEN'200601'AND'200912'
    GROUP BY GROUP_ID, TRAN_DATE
    GROUP BY GROUP_ID
    The result of above query
    GROUP_ID Year_2007_Amt Year_2008_Amt
    G01 0 210
    Thanks

    I just wanted to make a comment. The predicates in both your queries are flawed I believe. You convert a date column to a character and then you say only pick the converted result between two sets of characters.
    TO_CHAR(TRAN_DATE,'YYYYMM') BETWEEN'200601'AND'200912'It should be coded like this for a proper date range comparison:
    TRAN_DATE BETWEEN TO_DATE('200601','YYYYMM') AND TO_DATE('200912','YYYYMM')That will eliminate the need for you to create FBI that you created. You should now be able to create a regular (B*Tree) index on the TRAN_DATE column.
    Also, now that we have the structure of your tables and sample data, what business question are you trying to answer? I think there is a better query that can be written if we know the requirements.
    Hope this helps!

  • Result of the query is not filtered as value given in Select Option variabl

    Hello ,
    A Select option Variable is created on Navigational Attribute( ZINV_PROG) of 0WBS_ELEMT.
    The Compound Key for object ZINV_PROG(Investment program) is APPR_YEAR( Approval Year)
    This ZINV_PROG object does not bear Master data.
    The values in the field get populated as you load Master data of 0WBS_ELEMT.
    The values for this objects is as shown below:
    APPR_YEAR ZINVPROG
    2005 ESCCCAPS
    2007 ESCCCAPS
    2008 FIRE
    2006 CAPITAL
    A select option variable is craeted on this Navigational attribute.
    When you execute the query , On the selection screen of the query..
    If you provide i/p for Investment programm field as 2007 ESCCCAPS, the data should ideally be filtered for this values only.
    But the result of the query shows data for both values 2005 ESCCCAPS and as well as for 2007ESCCCAPS.
    Let me know how to sort this issue.
    Points will be assigned for the correct and helpfull answere.
    Thanks,

    Thanks Srini for your prompt explanation.
    My Question is if Approval year is a compounded key of ZINV_PROG object why data would not get filter out directly.
    I mean on the screen for this particualr variable i take help - F4 to see values there you are able to see all the values of Investment programm along with the apprroval year.
    If i select value as 2005 ESCCCAPS from the help F4 screen then ideally data should be fileterd out for this particular value. But it is not happening so.
    Is that so in Query desgining that if you creating a variable on Nav Attribute, and that particular Nav attribute has a compound key then if you want to filter out the data for this Nav attribute correctly you would also require to create a variable for Compound key also.
    Please let me know
    Thanks

  • Unable to display results of multiple query in grid in Oracle SQL Developer

    Hi, I am a newbie to this forum and couldn't find the Oracle SQL Developer forum so posting it here.
    My question: How to display multiple query results in grid in Oracle SQL Developer.
    Example:
    select * from Employee;
    select * from Department;
    - when I select both the queries and hit F5 in Oracle sql developer. By default it displays in output window.
    - How to display result of both the queries in Grid.
    Any thoughts on this would be really helpful.
    Thanks in advance.
    Harsh

    Hi Harsh,
    I'd say that the Results grid is designed to only show the results of 1 query at a time. I don't know/can't see how it would display multiple queries at a time.
    I would suggest either joining your tables to create a single query or opening another SQL Worksheet for one of the queries so that you can display the results side-by-side.
    Maybe you could explain what you're trying to do. Why are you trying to display multiple results in the same query grid?
