SOS I lost my images

Hello please help if you can. I received a error message telling me my disk space was low so I moved my library to another drive on my computer. When I relaunced Aperture there were no images. I then restored my library back to the main drive with the same results. I now have 2 aperture library icons, one on each drive. I have checked the size of both library's and they seem very small 172KB. Ihope that my images are not gone. I have considered to restore from the vault but have not done so because I didn't have too many pics backed up and also because I wanted to see if there was anyone out there that might be of help. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Norman

i knew it was a matter of time before you found it ...
you can go ahead and delete all the other libraries - just make sure it is the right one ...
you can have multiple libraries, some people do that, one for work, one for personal ... and actually just double-clicking will open that library ... alternately changing it in the preferences does it too ... just make sure that you know which one is which and don't accidentally delete it ...
i'd also like to suggest these articles for some really good tips/tricks and guidelines ...

glad you located your images and are all set !!!
Cheers ...

  • Lost all images in Keynotes for your college lectures

    Hello,
I spent a great amount of time developing 15 keynotes for an art history course.  I've upgraded to  a new macbook (early 2013 retina) and bought the Keynote 09 5.3 .
Now I've lost all images on my slides?  This is infuriating! I copied the folder of presentations to an external drive.  They also do not show up when accessed from the old macbook using the drive.  Nothing is corrupted on the external drive but these keynotes.
I see images on the thumbnails.  But the slides show placeholders.
    Please help!

All Images is not a location. It's a list.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • I lost my images from my hard drive and now I can not access them in Lightroom. What can I do?

I lost my images from my hard drive and now I can not access them in Lightroom. What can I do?

Your images are truly no longer present on the hard drive(s)? Have you had your operating system do a search for them?
If such a search fails to find them, here's what I would do, in order
Look in the trash can/recycle bin
    Restore from backups
If you don't have backups ... well, why not? ... find a program on the internet called an "undelete utility" (free versons are available) and then download and install it and run it. If you are going to do this, then do not perform any other tasks on your computer except find the program, download it (if possible to a different drive than the photos were stored on), install it (if possible to a different drive than the photos were stored on), and run it. In the future, you will need to commit to making regular backups of your photos and of your Lightroom catalog file, no excuses.
If that doesn't work, but the thumbnails still appear in Lightroom, you can probably recover the thumbnails from Lightroom via a plug-in, but these would be low-resolution versions of your photos, if you really need instructions on this step, write back

  • Time Machine cannot find internal backup disk.Lost disk image in Finder for internal backup volume.  OS 10.7.3.

Lost disk image in Finder (Desktop) for backup disk on Intel Mac Pro OS 10.7.3. Time Machine cannot find the internal backup disk. The volume is grayed out in Disk Utility, though it CAN verify the volume. How do I get it back on my desktop?

First, restart the Time Capsule by disconnecting the power adapter and reconnecting it. If other devices on the network can see it, you can skip this step.
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
Click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the window and authenticate to unlock the settings, if necessary. Click the Advanced button, then select the TCP/IP tab in the sheet that drops down. Click Renew DHCP lease.
    Try again to back up.

  • Lost all images in a project

Recently upgraded to 1.1, was done importing 630 images into a project, had finished rating all of them, and was in the process of exporting to photoshop. After an export (not the first), I came back to Aperture and all of the images and metadata from this project are just GONE!
I spent a whole day sorting and rating, and I've just lost this whole collection of images. The album is still listed in the library, but it's empty. I'm devastated, and can't forsee continuing to use this program.
Does anyone have ideas on how to get back the images and metadata? The actual RAW files are not lost, just their thumbnails and metadata.
I'm going to Adobe Bridge from now on, I can't work with this level of buggy software.

Are you sure you've not accidentally turned on a search in the project? For instance, it's super-easy to hit Control + a number and accidentally turn on searches only for images above a certain rating. Or you might have enabled a keyword search that no images match.
Look over to the right at the search window and make sure it's cleared. Also, check out the "Rejected" folder under Library and make sure your images did not all accidentially get marked as rejected.
Your changes are most likley all in there, you just need to see what is preventing you from seeing them.

  • Backup drive lost all images transferred over

The beginning of this month I helped a friend back up her photos onto an external drive. We moved over 10K photos and then around 400 music files.
We then set up Time Machine to back up everything as it should. I checked her settings and compared them with mine on my iMac and it all checked out fine.
Time machine has been backing up her stuff as normal but MANY things are missing.
Once we moved all her important stuff to those folders outside of the time machine backups, we ejected the external and then proceeded to clean up and remove those images from her iPhoto to clear up space on her computer. She doesn't have a very big hard drive and she simply ran out of room. Putting those images on the external was intended to preserve them.
They are gone. ALL of them and she has not used the laptop since that day other than to let time machine back up.
We work together over Team Viewer to do this as she lives in another state.
Other than her lying to me, what could have made 10K photos disappear? ALL the movies are there. only the photos disappeared.
Also, the backup in Time Machine does not have the lost images. Makes no sense. We both SAW all those images there, saved and in proper order.
Also, she uses DropBox and we moved all the stuff from there to the external for safe keeping and the same thing - the folder is there, but the images are gone. Only the movies are preserved.
How can Time Machine only preserve select images from iPhoto and if she didn't do anything to those folders, how could they be removed  from the external?
Now, I am pretty sure I can rebuild what is left in the Time Machine backup from the iPhoto app, but I'm not sure if it will back up.
I did see inside her Pictures directory an iPhoto Library_backup copy icon AND a directory titled iPhoto Library_backup.
INSIDE the directory I can open it up and see a directory titled "before restore" and in there are two databases. iPhotoAux.db and iPhotoMain.db. Would either or both of these be what I need to use to restore old things back on her drive?
I found those inside the iPhoto app where it says "import" and that directory was the only thing highlighted as something I can restore. It shouldn't duplicate images should it? I would expect it to skip duplicates.
I'm at a loss. We both saw all those images in the external and now they're gone.
    Her machine:
    Macbook Pro with 250GB drive
    OSX 10.9.5

There is no way not to spend money.  Prosoft Data Rescue offers a demo.  You might be able to try one of the other tools as well.
Partitioning actually does wipe the data pretty well, so while it may be there, it may be very hard to get at it.
Never partition a drive that has the only copy of data you need. Always backup first.

  • Lost HD image in Finder window

I've lost a the image of my Hard Drive in the upper left hand corner of my finder window and don't know how to get it back. I must have inadvertantly made it go poof one day. It does show up when I open Disk Utility, but I can't figure out what to do from there, if anything, and I'm afraid to do anything else from fear of erasing or restoring something I don't want to.
    What's the trick? TIA
    Michael

    Hi Micheal,
    Try this...
    Finder>Preferences>Sidebar, clck on Hard Disks.
If that fails, simply drag the Desktop icon for the HD to the sidebar.
PS. It's easy to drag those icons off to the left and have them go poof!

  • Lost album images

If your iPod is set to update automatically try disabling then reenabling the artwork again to get it to reload:
    2. Disable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes (Right click on the iPod icon and choose Sync from the menu)
    4. Re-enable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.

  • Aperture 3.6 - lost edited image settings.

    Hi There,
today when I opened Aperture 3.6 all my images previous setting are lost, actually Curves are different from my setting on all images (New Curves have now same straight line on every image like on attached screen shot) and on some image levels settings are different from my settings. It has happened also before with Aperture 3.5 and Maverick, but only with few image, now all of them have lost settings.
Does anyone have same experience or know solution how to avoid to and restore lost settings?
    Thank you,
    Kalevi
    Aperture 3.6/Yosemite

I deleted the plist file as indicated and restarted my computer. Opened Aperture and still no images in Browser of Split View.  Shut Aperture and opened iPhoto just to see if it was the same - and it was - no images other than previews.  BTW I have Aperture 3.6 and Yosemite - all the most recent releases.

  • Updated Lightroom and PS in CC and Lost RAW images

I am very new to CC and all the programs.  When I installed the updates after updating my MAC software to the newest version, I lost all my raw images.  I do not know what happened.  HELP!  All the JPEGS are there but I lost the rest.

After an update of OSX it’s best to trash the prefs file so that they get automatically re-built on next launch.
    Quit Lightroom
Launch Finder and find the user Library by clicking the Go menu whilst holding down the Optn (alt) key (n.b. the library is hidden until you press the optn key) and inside the Library folder select the preferences folder. Then trash the following file:
    com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist
    Quit Finder and re-launch LR5

  • Maverick lost my Images

A friend reports that after installing Maverick she has lost access to her images in iPhoto.  How can she get to them without buying an upgrade to iPhoto.
Aren't they still on her hard disk?
    Mary Lou

What version of iPhoto is she running? What happens when she launches iPhoto?
What does she see? Does she have an iPhoto Library located in her Pictures folder?
Without knowing more information all I can do is guess at a fix: Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database, followed by Option #1 if needed.

  • Lost Disk Image

I wanted to create a file that was password protected to keep confidential files. It resided on the desktop next the hard drive icon. I'm using Lion OS.
It's now missing along with all my documents. All of the hidden files are now visible yet I still can not find it using Finder. I have not deleted it so it must still be on the hard drive can someone tell me how I can find it please?

Cool, Ya that program did a pretty good job. It seemed to have found my lost directory structure. However like I mentioned I think I'm running into an issue with the compression that was ran on the image after backing it up. A feature that I am now regretting using. Because when I try to recover a file, like a jpg, preview says it can't preview the file. And opening plain text files gives me what appears to be binary or hex etc. So I am thinking I am running into issues where the files are still compressed and I need to figure out how to decompress them first before I can fully recover them. I was considering trying to just recover the whole directory structure and renaming the the top folder to a .img or .dmg file but I am not sure if that will work. Any ideas?
    Thanks again.
