Hello,
You can use the "Read From File" property :

  • What determines the file encoding for ${C:file.txt} = 'abc' ?

    What determines the file encoding for
    ${C:file.txt} = 'abc'
    I'm always getting ASCII as the encoding for file.txt after executing that assignment.

    Thanks so much.   I'll keep looking for the MSFT doc on this.  I scanned Bruce Payette's book and did not find anything there.
    It turns out to be one of those "by rote" things you have to learn about PowerShell.
    My concern about the lack of documentation is that MSFT might change the underlying code in the future to use Unicode and that might break some existing code.  If there was some MSFT provided documentation declaring ASCII as the intended encoding they
    might provide plenty of warning if they do a switch in encoding.
    I note also that if you try to write characters outside the ASCII set (see example below) that character substitution happens to find an ASCII character to use in place of the one outside the ASCII set.  In the example below a 'v' is substituted for
    the '√' character:
    ${C:xo.txt} = '√'

  • Safari: how to autofill filename when using 'download linked file as' option

    I usually need to download email attachment to specific folders, not to the downloads folder. When I use "download linked file as" I get the option to choose the location, which is great, but the filename is '0'. I don't want to have to cut and paste the filename every time - why doesn't Safari grab the filename automatically, as it does when you just click download? Is there a way around this? It's a big workflow issue for me, and the reason I switched to Chrome previously .. surely there's a fix for this basic function though?
    I'm downloading from Gmail running in my browser.

    Just checked on 10.7.4+, still the same, something is borked about your install, to see if we need to re-install...
    To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
    Open System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
    Does it work in the new account?

  • Dataset error on MAC for linked file

    Hello all,
    I am trying to make use of Variables panel in Illustrator CS6 Mac version. I added a Path variable. Then placed an image in the document and added a variable for the link file. Created two datasets with default names. Then when I try to switch between two datasets it gives me error "The filter cannot complete because of an unknown error".
    On PC it works fine on Mac why the Variable palette is not working. Am I missing anything here. If I just have Path or Text Variables it works fine.
    Please do let me know.
    Thanks all in Advance.

    Hi Laura,
    If you are using SBO 2004 you should not be using this method of loading the srf form (Loadbatch actions is for SBO 6.5). Here is code in VB .Net the load it - you can convert it (I don't have it in c#).
    Private Sub btnXMLForm67_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnXMLForm67.Click
    Dim oXMLDoc As New System.Xml.XmlDocument
    Dim xmlData As String = "C:\Training2004\Code\SBOTest\VideoStore\XMLForms\AddMovie.srf"
            Dim oForm As SAPbouiCOM.Form
            Dim creationPackage As SAPbouiCOM.FormCreationParams
            'Create the FormCreationParams object
            creationPackage = oAppObj.SBO_App.CreateObject( _
            SAPbouiCOM.BoCreatableObjectType.cot_FormCreationParams)
            'Specify the parameters in the object
            creationPackage.UniqueID = "SOS_MyFormID"
            creationPackage.FormType = "60004"
            creationPackage.BorderStyle = SAPbouiCOM.BoFormBorderStyle.fbs_Fixed
            oXMLDoc.load(xmlData)
            'Just a sample for a XML string describing a form… same as used for LoadBatchActions
            creationPackage.XmlData = oXMLDoc.InnerXml
            'Add the form to the SBO application
            Try
                oForm = oAppObj.SBO_App.Forms.AddEx(creationPackage)
            Catch ex As Exception
                Exit Sub
            End Try
            'Set the form title and visibility
            oForm.Title = oForm.Title & "-2004"
            oForm.Visible = True
        End Sub

  • 8dot3 filenames not created for Program Files and Program Files (x86)

    Interesting issue we are realizing on Servers deployed from SCCM 2012. 8dot3names are not created for Program Files and Program Files (x86). they are created for other files/folders at the root of C and below Program Files and Program Files (x86). This is
    causing issues when programs are installed and the path is then created with 8dot3 filenames for program files and program files (x86)

    Arg. we just got bitten by this "feature", and it's affecting our security software stack (name starts with M and ends with ee), and some ancient crud too.
    And found this, which suggests a logical reason for 8dot3name to not be present on servers, but, on clients, I think it's a rather gross assumption...

  • Set Paper Source by Page Size for multi files

    I have over 500 pdf files. How can I batch set "Paper Source by Page Size" in Print Dialog Preset for these files.
    Thanks!

    Hi Andrew,
    Apple made some pretty significant changes to the way that printers function when they released 10.6.
    The setting you're looking for is completely controlled by the OS.
    Choose Apple > System Preferences > Print & Fax.
    Click on your printer and use the drop-down menu to change the default page size for your printer.

    Hello everyone!
    Does anyone know how to search for multiple file names in bridge?
    That is to copy & paste something like this: _MG_2152, _MG_2177, _MG_2194, _MG_2195, _MG_2202, _MG_2212, _MG_2219, _MG_2261, _MG_2362, _MG_2401
    Not using several criterias in the search box that is. That takes too long.

  • Edit original for linked file

    Why does Illustrator take me to Preview instead of Photoshop when I go to Edit Original for a linked Photoshop file?

    This is actually controlled by the Mac OS, and easily corrected by doing a CMD I on any file, and changing the application for Open With.
    In this example I have set all my .psd files to open in Photoshop CS4.
    A useful keyboard shortcut for edit original: hollow arrow tool double click on a linked image on your canvas.

  • Naming conventions included for linked files?

    Perhaps a simple question but... if a file is only going to serve as a downloadable link (save as) do the standard naming conventions still apply? (lowercase, no spaces)  the files i am working with are dwg, pdf, zmt, jpeg, png...  my assumption is yes but thought i would ask.
    thank you in advance,

    All lowercase is nice, and easier since URLs are case-sensitive. Spaces are always best avoided. Completely. Some systems handle them, but there are no guarantees. Underscores (_) are a good alternative.

  • Logon Prompt for linked files

    We are linking to HTML pages that are not native to the portal.  When an end user clicks on the link they are asked to enter their KM id and password even though they are already logged it.  Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

    hi
    first build the trust relationship between sender and reciever if they are in different domains as well if possible SSO and also check the authentication mechanism in native site  and if any firewall is involved you need to open its port for this portal to access.hope this helps you.

  • Capturing filename after browsing for a file

    i have created a browse page which enables the user to import in the value in the file that they have selected. the problem the user has selected the file, they will click search button and they it read the file using StringTokenizer and etc.
    and then the values will be stored in the database and display in a text area in the second JSP page. how can i capture the filename after the user has selected in the first JSP page to allow java class file to capture the filename to be stored into the database?
    I hope that my explanation on my problem doesn't confuse you..
    Thanks alot

    the file currently in the local pc becoz i am developing using the local pc as client n server together. so i just retrieve it.
    but it's only the matter of the pathname becoz i will store it into a variable to retrieve it later as a String. so i think it will then capture the whole pathname as a String to be passed in

  • Displaying employee photo during runtime

    I form for employee master and i want to store all employee photo in file and have them displayed during runtime from the file
    directory. That is when i query for an emp_no
    the records along with the picture in the file directory should also come up?
    null

    You'll have an image-item in your form and use read_image_file built-in. The image file has to be on the local client or on a network drive the client is connected to, and that will be quite a problem.
    Another way to do, which is, by far, better is to have the image stored in a longraw column of a table in your database, as I did and it isn't too difficult.
    Or, eventually, use BLOBS - which I haven't done so far.

  • Search for a file regardless of OS

    Hi there,
    I want to search for a file regardless of which OS I am using. User can enter a filename like D:/abc/project/file.txt or just simply file.txt. I am required to handle path natively because if the user is using windows they will enter the windows style path and if they're using linux, they will enter it the linux style.
    for all of you who think that im asking you to do my assignment, i am not, its a very very small part of the huge project and if someone could help me on this. I can find the file in the current directory if only a filename is given, but if the whole path is given, my search fails
    thank you very much

    What you might be able to do is take the string that represents the filename and tokenize on both \ and /
    Then, iterate through the tokens and substitute either char for the File.pathSeparator character.
    String fname;
              StringTokenizer st = new StringTokenizer(s,"\\/");
              while (st.hasMoreTokens()) {
                   fname += st.nextToken() + File.pathSeparator;
    something like that (better to use a StringBuffer instead of += too)

  • Skipping the search for linked images

    Hi all
    My indesign document have 250 images. While I have moved the indesign document to different server. All the images are missing links now. While I am opening the document indesign looking for image links, this process is cosuming more time to open the document.
    I want to just skip the searching for linked file and open the file. I will relink them afterwards.
    Skipping the search for linked images while opening the indesign file is prossible?
    Thanks in advance

    That preference can be changed. Edit>preferences>file linking (Windows) or InDesign>preferences>file linking (Mac)
