Use DB Connect..
Fill the following parameters:
1.<b>DB Connection</b> --Database name
2.<b>DBMS</b>: ORA
<b>3.user name:
4.DBpassword:</b>
5.<b>Conn Info:</b> Give oracle TNS name of the database to which you want to connect.
6.<b>Permanent</b> --check the box..
There are other parameters like conn limits..and ptimum conns.

  • How to design EDW for source systems from different Time-Zones

How to design EDW for source systems from different Time-Zones?
Suppose IT landscape has a global BW in New York, and source systems in americas, europe and asia, then how the time-zones effect on time related things like delta selections on date or timestamp etc.

As you said BW is global in NY, your source system must be global too. People from various locations can connect to same source system and thus timestamps for delta is always maintained as 1 single time. We have same scenario in our project. Our R/3 system is used by users in US and Europe. So we run deltas twice in day to make sure we got deltas from both locations.
If scenarios was such that all locations connect to separate R/3 system, then obviously you have multiple queues. That is unique delta queue for each source system so deltas will be pulled as per data in respective queues.

  • How to Delete a Source System from BW System

    Dear All,
I have a request to delete a UDC based source system from a BW system. Can you please let me know the steps to be followed to delete a UDC source system.
It would be helpful if you provide steps to delete a SAP Source system also from a BW system.
If there are any such documents for both the cases, please provide me the link.
    Thanks to all.

  • Connecting MSSQL Database source system from BW 3.5/Oracle 9.2.0.6/AIX 5.3

    Hi,
We want to extract data from MSSQL database source system into BW 3.5/Oracle 9.2.0.6 system in AIX environment. Apart from intsalling NT app server,UDC, XI,flat file options, can you please suggest any other methods to extract data from SQL database into  BW/AIX system?. Thanks in advance.
    Thanks.
    Raj.

    Raj,
Did you find any solution for this problem. We are having exactly the same issue and are trying to do it with SAP DBConnect.
We are able to create a Source System for MSSQL server but it does not connect since the "Database Shared Library" is not installed on our BW 3.5 AIX box.
From what we gather there is NO DSL for MSSQL for AIX. I cannot believe we cannot connect to MSSQL directly since we have too many MSSQL databases all around the company.

  • Disconnet a Source system from RSA1

    Hi!
I changed all the neccessary BW objects from one SAP ECC system to another one in my SAP BW system via tcode BDLS (e.g. EC1CLNT500 --> EC2CLNT500).
Now I would like to delete the old entry of EC1CLNT500 in RSA1 --> source systems.
When I do so I get the following error:
Source system cannot be deleted in Content system
    Message no. RSAR670
    Diagnosis
If a source system is deleted in the Content system, the shadow tables
for all source system-dependent objects for this source system release are also deleted. You can configure a user as a non-Content user by using a SET-GET parameter. You can then use this user to delete the system, and then the above-named objects are not changed duringdeletion.
    System Response
    The function is completed.
    Procedure
Logon as user ACTIVATE, and repeat your actions.
Can some one tell me how to proceed here?
    regards
    Jürgen

    Hi!
The table RSBASIDOC does not have the entry for new SAP BW system that I would like to disconnect.
Only the value of the old SAP BW system is there...
    How to proceed?
    Thank you!

  • How to change the Source system from ONE DataSource?

    Hi,
I'm trying to change a DataSource's source system (active with dtp and transfer rules), but it's not possible to  do it in change mode because the field 'Source Sytem' is not enabled. I know I can use the BDLS transaction but I understand that this is for change all Datasources and I only want to change one of all.
    Thanks for your help

    Hi Marcel,
As I understand apart from file and web services all other data sources are replicated from underlying source system. BDLS transaction is used to change the source system but in case of system copy activity and it is necessary because the data sources points to old source system.
In your case as I understand you will have to replicate the current data source directly from underlying source system and then build the rest of the flow. May I know how you have got this single data source for which the source system is different?

  • Multiple source columns from Oracle DB to Hyperion Essbase cube

    Hi Experts ,
We have a Source as oracle table to the target Hyperion Essbase Cube(Planning) 11.1.2 using ODI 11g.
Right now my issue is We need to map multiple columns from Oracle DB to One Dimension in Essbase (Planning).
For example -> * In Oracle table i have columns as Name,Volume, unit and item *
In Essbase the dimension called "*CatDefinition has lower level members as Name,Volume, unit and item * "
Now using ODI ,* I want to map the oracle table columns(Multiple) to the dimension(Catdefinition) ? * Please suggest me with idea to achieve multiple column mapping to the single dimension in Essbase .
    Thanks in Advance !
    Keny Alex

Do you even need FDM? You could build a load rule in Essbase directly. If you need to map, then you would register the Essbase target adapter.

  • Connecting to R/3 source system from BI in ECC6.0

    Hi all,
We have installed ECC6.0 system recently with two clients say 500 for R/3 and 600 for BI7.0.
we would like to know how to establish connection between these two clients?from BI7.0 >RSA1>Source Systems-->we do not have any source system assigned here(i.e. SAP folder has nothing under it).
Does anyone has documents on this?please share with me.
    Regards,
    Murali.

    Hi Murali,
Following are the stpes to be performed
1)Before any developments create a user ALEREMOTE through transaction code SU01. This user name is to be created in both the BI system and the R/3 system
Enter the requisite details for the same like address, Logon date, defaults, parameters, roles, profiles, groups, personalization and license data. Remember to assign the SAP_ALL and R_RS_ALL in the profiles
You can create the system-generated password by clicking the wizard button. You can also choose the password of your choice. It’s important to note that keep the password same for the user ALEREMOTE common for both the BI and the R/3 system.
    2) In the same way create another user BWREMO
    3) Define the logical system in BI
Click on SAP reference IMG in SPRO Transaction
For BI 7.0 the procedure is different. It is as follows. Click on SAP Netweaver&#61664; Business intelligence&#61664; Links to other source system&#61664; General connection settings, then click on define logical systems.
For the earlier version BW 3.5 and earlier follow the following steps. Then drop down the BW customizing implementation guide. After that Business Information Warehouse&#61664; Link to other systems &#61664; General connection settings&#61664; then click on Define logical systems
Click on new entries and enter the logical system name and description
    Press the New entries button
Enter the client, city, logical system name, currency, and client role. Select the radio button automatic recording of changes and the rest will remain the same. After that click on save and then back and then save again.
    4) Define logical system in SAP R/3 in similar way
5)Go to R/3 connection in BW 3.5 or go to ABAP connection in BI 7.0. Then click create.
6)Now create two RFC destinations for BI, one for direct remote login and the other through the Dialog screen.
    7Creating RFC destination for BIW.
    a.     Create a RFC destination NB1CLNT500 with the name for logical systems. The other destination would This destination would be used for BW &#61663;&#61664; BW interaction. The same would be for theNB1CLNT500_DIALOG.Now click on connection test and there should not be any error. Now check by clicking the Remote Login button and this will take you to the R/3 system.
    8.     Creating RFC destination for Dialog
    a.     Create a RFC destination with the name of and NB1CLNT500_DIALOG in BIW with the name for logical systems. This destination would be used for BW &#61663;&#61664; SAP interaction.
    9.     The process is finished now.
    10.     Now your connectivity is successfully established with the R/3 system.
Please assign points if this helps
    Thank you,
    Regards,

  • Change source system from A to B

    Hello,
We have a lot of infosources which have a connection to datasources from source system A. Some of that infosources contain formulas. Now we have to change to source system B with the same datasources and even  the same content. What´s the best way to change without losing or filling in again the formulas and is there a way to do it not seperately for each infosource but for all infosources together, so simultaneously?
    Kind regards,
    Jos

    Hello Jos!
Have a look at this document:

  • Source System from DB connect map to BI contents

    Hi all,
have anyone tried to map data from DB connect to available data sources in BI contents?
    for example:
we have a Protean ERP. we want to implement SAP BI on its database. so we use DB connect. But we want to take advantage from SAP BI Contents (exp: cubes, queries, web template,...).
    1. Can we do that? if yes, please show me the high level steps.
    2. mapping like this is better than we create our own objects, right?
    Regards,
    Chuong Hoang

You can map a new DBConnect datasource to a current infosource.  However, you cannot map a DBConnect datasource to an R/3 (dor any other for that matter) datasource.
If you map to an existing infosource, make sure your info object keys are filled appropriately and any ODS keys are correctly filled.   Also, if you are not pulling in data for an info object, do not map it or else you, will overwrite data with nulls.

  • Issues with BW conn. while upgrading source system from R/3 4.6 to ECC 6.0

    Hello
We are upgrading our existing R/3 4.6 system to an ECC 6.0 system. In this regard, I have a few questions concerning R/3 to BW extractions.
Question 1: If we have a PROD BW system PB1 mapped to a PROD 4.6 R/3 system PR1. And then we make a copy of PB1 and call it DB1. Will we get all the transfer rules mapped between DB1 and PR1 automatically.. or do we need to re-create all the transfer rules again?
Question 2: Lets say we now want to connect our ECC 6.0 DEV system ie DE1 to DB1, do we need to re-create all the transfer rules between these 2 clients?
    Thanks.
    Srinivas.

    Hi Srinivas,
    questions 1:
no need to create again...they will link up that..it is nothing but Mirror concept...
    question 2 :
This one laso no need to craeted....
So your issue is solved, post me if you have any furthur...

  • Description from Source system via FDMEE

Hi Team , For Flat files if we have description in file we can take that description also from that . If it possible to bring in the Description from other Source system . For Eg if i have source system as Oracle Ebs , can i bring in the the Description for each row to FDMEE . Regards , Roshin Rasheed

    Hi,
some import formats for non file-based loads do not support Account Description out of the box.
One example is Oracle EBS where you cannot add new dimension in your import format.
So the first question would be where is your description stored in EBS? only data from flex fields segments is extracted.
If you want to set your description as some information coming from the segments you could import it to any dimension (concatenated segment) and then parsed in event script like AftImport
For example, if you import your description from the Sub Account, your import format could be as the one above and then run a SQL query from event script like:
    UPDATE TDATASEG_T
    SET DESC1 = RIGHT(ACCOUNT,10),
    ACCOUNT = LEFT(ACCOUNT,10)
    WHERE LOADID = float(fdmContext["LOADID"])
    This is just an example,

  • BI 7.0: Source System upgrade from R/3 Enterprise to ECC 6.0

    Background:
I am relatively new to BW team and will be going through my 1st source system upgrade.
We currently have BI 7.0 SPS 17 connected to source system R/3 Enterprise EP1.
We are upgrading to the source system to ECC 6.0.
    In Development and QA Environments:
we will have access to both old (R/3 Enterpirse) and the new (ECC 6.0) source systems.
We have a opportunity to compare the BW Objects, data flow and data loading from
    both source systems.
In Production, however, we will just upgrade over 3 days downtime.
One Question that comes to mind in this regard...
What sort of things, we should be checking for before and after upgrade in Dev/QA and in Prod environments and what tools are available that can help the analysis and validation process ?
Some of the suggestions that were given to me include following points.
    Before Upgrade:
1 Check data, taking pre images of it for testing with post upgrade.
    2. Perform proper analysis of Source system related BW objects.
      - A complete listing of actively used Datasources,.. etc.
    3. Make delta queues empty,
Make sure that all existing deltas are loaded into BW.The last request delta must not deliver any data and must be green in the monitor.
    4. Stop Process chains from BI (remove from schedule) and collection runs from R/3 side
    After Upgrade:
1 After the OLTP upgrade, refer to note 458305 and other notes that are relevant to the actual upgrade
(depending on the R/3 system release / R/3 plug-in to BI plug-in compatibility).
    2. Check logical system connections. Transactions SMQS, RSMO and SM59, If no access, then we can use Program RSRFCPIN_NEW for RFC Test.
    3. Check and/or Activate control parameters for data transfer. SBIW ---> General Settings --->
Maintain Control Parameters for Data Transfer
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/51/85d6cf842825469a51b9a666442339/frameset.htm
    4. Check for Changes to extract structures in LBWE Customizing Cockpit
        - OSS Notes 328181, 396647, 380078 and 762951
    5. Check if all the required transfer structures are active. See OSS Note 324520 for mass activation.
    7. Check if all Source system related BW Objects are active - Transfer rules, Communication rules, update rules,DTPs,..etc.
Below is a link for some useful programs in this regard.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/pages/viewpage.action&pageid=35458
    6. Test all important datasources using RSA3 and check for OLTP Datasources changes .
As soon as BW notices that the time stamp at the DataSource in the OLTP is newer than the one in the transfer structure, it requests replication of the DataSource and activation of the transfer structure. Transfer the relevant DataSources only if required, and transfer only the ones that have changed (RSA5 -> Delta).
    7. Create Data flow objects (trnasfer rules, infopackages, trnasformations, DTPs) for the Replicate
    new/changed datasources,if needed.
    8. Check all CMOD enhancements.
If we are using a customer exit with the extractor in the OLTP, see Note 393492.
    7. Check for unicode (all custom programs or Function Modules for DataSources)
    5.  Check all the queues in RSA7, start delta runs and test data consistency.
For delta problems:In the BW system, start the 'RSSM_OLTP_INIT_DELTA_UPDATE' program for the DataSource and the source (OLTP) system for which the init selections are then transferred from BW into the ROOSPRMSC and ROOSPRMSF tables in the source system so that the delta can continue.
    9. Take back up of data posted during upgrade for contingency planing.
    10. Run the entire set of process chains once if possible and let it pick up no data or the usual master data.
Since we have lot of experts in this forum, who have probably gone through such scenario many times, i wanted to request you to Please Please advise if i have stated anything incorrectly or if i am missing additional steps, OSS Notes, important details...

Thanks Rav for your detailed post and very helpful contribution by posting all the information you had regarding the upgrade.
    We have similar scenario -
We are upgrading our source system from 4.7 to ECC 6.0. We have our BI system with BI 7.0 at support pack 19 (SAPKW70019).
Our strategy in ECC deployment  ->
In development we copied our old DEV 4.7 system DXX to new ECC system DXY (new system ID).
In production we are going to use same system PRXX upgraded from 4.7 to ECC.
Now we are in testing phase of ECC with all interfaces like BI in Dev.
    My questions are below ->
How can we change/transfer mapping of all our datasources in Dev BW system BID to new ECC dev system DXY (Eg. Logical system LOGDXY0040) from Old dev system DXX (Eg. Logical system LOGDXX0040). We donot want to create new datasources or change all transfer rules/Infosources for old BW3.x solutions on our BI.
Also in new ECC sourcesystem copy  we see all datasources in Red in RSA7 transaction. Do we need to initialize again all the datasources from our BW BID system.
Is there any easy way for above scenario ?
Please let me know if you have any further helpful information during your ECC 6.0 upgrade connecting to BI 7.0 system.
I have found some other links which have some pieces of information regarding the topic -
