SPA8800s keep dying (on my 4th replacement) - IS THIS A KNOWN ISSUE?

Good day,
I am using a SPA8800 as an analog gateway for a Business Edition 3000 deployment. I am now going to be going on my fourth replacement unit of the SPA8800 and am hoping someone at Cisco sees this post and can provide some insight.
All of my failed SPAs exhibit the same failure. It seems the ethernet port just stops working. The first unit died within 30 minutes. The subsequent replacements have lasted longer (days to weeks) but all eventually failed as well.
More problem details: I have 4 solid lights on the "Status" indicator. The ethernet indicator on the SPA blinks a slow steady green light. There is no link light on any switch port I plug the SPA into.
On the latest failure, the SPA was working fine for about 2 weeks. I unplugged the SPA from the switch port it was plugged into temporarily to move the physical cable, and when I plugged it back in to the switch, the ethernet port did not come back up. There is no link light on the switch port.
The SPA is plugged into a UPS for conditioned power, so I do not believe it is an environmental issue.
Has anyone else experienced such issues with these devices? Can someone from Cisco comment on these failures?
Thanks.

Hi Janet,
I would suggest you could try some of the suggestions given below:

Let me know how this works!

    Error 1 or -1
This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
If you disabled yuor computer's security software then that indicates a hardware problem,
I would say it is not workth fixint your old. likely a 1G. iPOd.

Using Acrobat Pro X on windows 7.  The replace pages feature does not work.  Is this a known issue? Is there a fix?

    Hi Todd,
I haven't heard other reports of this (though there was an issue quite some time ago where deleting pages on this combination of Acrobat/OS was challenging).
Can you please tell me what happens when you try to replace pages? Do you get an error message? Are you able to manipulate pages otherwise (delete, extract, and so on)? Is this issue unique to one file, or does it happen with all PDF files?
I look forward to hearing back from you.

  • Jst bought an iphone 5s and 5c battery keeps dying have noticed a lot of people have had this issue for awhile but I haven't seen any real fix. ???

I just bought a 5s and the battery keeps dying. I have noticed several people have had this same problem for awhile but I haven't really seen a fix.
I am loosing about 1% every 2 min as well. not very tech savy but I did turn off the LTE. I did originally let phone die all the way then charge all the way.
Have only had for 3 days should I start with taking it back and replacing? or does everyone think this is a software fix we are all gonna have to wait for ?
    Thanks

You can try this link for some help http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/19/ios-7-battery-life-fix/. I do not see my iPhone 5s behaving in this manner, so there has to be some settings that you are using that are giving you problems. Did you restore this phone from an older iPhone backup? If so, you might want to restore the device as new and start over and sync over individual parts to see what might be bad.

  • Xdm keeps dying

After a recent upgrade to Solaris 9 the xdm keeps dying and restarted after about 5-10 minutes. I can speed this up by stopping and starting the script in the /etc/rc2.d/ directory but it still dies after about 5 minutes with no real error message to go on.

On another related subject... if my computer is 'chuffed' I don't understand about Apples approach to repairs and stuff... It was my understanding that if a piece of hardware was under a year old and suffered from a technical fault it was the responsibility of the company to replace/repair for free? Apple seem to only do 90 days? IS that right?
If I need a new part will I have to pay for parts and service even though I've had it less than a year (7 months)
Your Imac has 90 days phone support and 1 year parts and labour. If you phone after the 90 days is up they will ask for a credit card #, now if they find out it is a hardware issue you will not be charged.
Now if it won't power on at all I would thing it is a hardware issue, if it was a bad hard drive or corrupted software then it should turn on but not find the drive or the OS on the drive. Call Apple again and tell them you want it fixed or take it in you are still covered.
You should also think about extended warrentee which gives you a total of three years phone support and three years parts and labour. Keep us posted, Bob :~))

  • I phone 4S keeps dying.

My 4 month old iPhone 4S keeps dying, it happened 6 times in a row, should i be worried.  I got it back eventually by constantly hard rebooting.  Is this sinister.  I dont have apple care, can I take it in to be looked at, will they care?

  • 4th replacement 17" MBP faulty... what to do?

I've got the unibody 17" MBP and this is my fourth replacement which is faulty again. This is my first ever Mac.
I noticed it was beeping twice so I done the tech deluxe test and it came up that the video RAM is faulty.
I don't know what to do
I'm not happy at all... even though as this was my 4th replacement Apple are going to give me £130.
Will I be 5th time lucky? or should I just keep my 3rd one (I did the waiver form so I've still got and have to send it back in 5 days).
1st MBP: faulty GPU (lines came up on it)
2nd MBP: faulty RAM (2 beeps heard all the time)
3rd MBP: fan noise was really loud and gap between lid was quite big when closed
    4th MBP: faulty video RAM

Can you actually do it (the returns) this much as you say? Do you know if you get 14 days of so-called "Remorse Period" anew, every single time you receive yours?
I had my MacBook replaced two times over the course of last month and a half. First time I had some problems with the hard-drive (it was excruciatingly loud), the second time I had discolored speaker area, it looked like white waterstains that could not have been removed with anything, plus I had a really nasty, discolored stain on the lid - most likely just a manufacturing glitch. I'm on my third one, but this one - in turn - seems to have a loud trackpad (remarkably louder than my previous one), it's harder to press and much more noisy than the previous one I had (checked), plus the hard-disk is noisy again, I'm pretty sure it's more noisy than the one in my last MacBook (the waterstained one) - although I'm not 100% sure, as I phoned Apple the day I received a replacement and basically have not paid that much attention to the overall features, as I already knew it's not gonna be my final one.
I have a 5400rpm drive, and the MacBook has been custom ordered as well, i.e. I have a 2.93GHz processor. I also seem to have some problems with the wi-fi connection this time, even though I have full coverage, occasionally it does not allows me to browse websites on FireFox (IM stays on-line), but not sure whether it's the AirPort going bonkers or is it just the connection that's dodgy - I've moved to a new place and started using a completely new network just a few days before I had to return my old MacBook Pro, so obviously hadn't had a chance to use the Internet with my old Mac much.
I am about to have a meeting with a Genius at AppleStore on Regent Street tomorrow, but considering getting a replacement anyway. I am just worried and seriously concerned about them sending me another MacBook with another fault, and that this is going to keep spiralling into infinity. Unfortunately, I have ordered mine on-line as well (not sure about the Apple policy in the US, but UK doesn't allow you to customize MacBooks in-store, save for additional memory - that's what I've been told numerous times by Apple Employees). That - in turn - means, that I have to sort everything out on-line and have virtually no way to see and test my MB before it actually arrives on the door. And, as the whole process goes on since mid-March (when I have submitted the on-line order for my very first Mac), I seriously start being exhausted, to say the very least, with all these returns, shipments, waiting for a new Mac, waivers, returns, and then again and again and again...
My "faults" seem to be quite minor issues compared to your ones that seem to be actually proper faults that seriously impact the functionality of hardware, but they are quite frustrating for me nonetheless, especially considering that I've spent well over £2'000 on it, so I was kinda expecting a flawless and crystal clear machine with no problems with it whatsoever. Not sure what to do, to be honest, as - as I've said - I kinda had enough, but on the other hand, want to be satisfied so that I feel it has been money well spent, so maybe I shouldn't give up (yet) if there is still a chance for the MacBook to be replaced?
Dunno, there - supposedly - is a 14 day remorse period after the computer arrives, so I should have the time until the forthcoming Wednesday...

  • Ipod Keeps dying :-(

so my video ipod keep dying on me whenever i go running...any ideas why or how to fix it? i dont want to lose my 5K songs...

As long as they are in iTunes you won't lose them. It sounds like your battery has died. You'll either need a new battery which can be a little difficult to replace, or a new iPod.

  • Why does my fully charged iPad 2 battery keep dying at 50% charge? I have updated to iOS 7 and this started happening. What could be the cause of it?

My iPad's battery keeps dying. When I plug it in and put it back on, the screen shows a drained battery. After a few moments it boots up. However, when I check the battery charge, it's at 52% or so. Can someone tell me what's causing this? And what can I do to fix it?

For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

  • Adapter Keeps Dying

Why do my adapters keep dying? I've had 2 croak in the last four months. At $80 a pop, this is getting pretty costly.
Any way to fix these stupid little things?
About to turn a loyal Mac owner (20+ years) into a bitter ex-Mac owner. FEH!

Welcome to the Apple discussion forums.
Are you using the 3 prong, with grounding, plug? Is it always plugged into the same outlet? Could there be a quality of electricity issue that's toasting your adapter? If that's possible, you may want to invest in a device that moderates the electricity into a narrower band, which also provides buffer against power spikes. There are a number of them on the market for computers.

  • Messaging Bridge keeps dying

I am using weblogic 10.3 on sunos and i am seeing this issue where the messaging bridges keep dying ever so often(once or twice a week). I have over 15 servers in the weblogic domain but out of them only 2-3 messaging bridges die at random. The issue is compounded by the fact that the weblogic logs say unable to connect to source destination will retry later but weblogic never retries. I can't see any configuration where i can configure duration and number of retries for messaging bridges. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Ok is there a way anyone knows of by which we can reset the messaging bridge from the admin console without having to restart the managed server?
