Space above horizontal (landscape) photos in iWeb

Hi,
I created a website using iWeb and when I posted photos, the horizontal pictures (landscape oriented) have too much space at the top between the header I created and the top of the picture. It causes the viewer to have to scroll down to view the picture. Can anyone tell me how to reduce this space at the top?

I think that's just how iWeb creates the photo page, setting a given height between the footer and header based on the tallest photo. You could look into using a 3rd party java based slideshow like this SimpleViewer slideshow that is produced in iPhoto and embedded in this iWeb demo page.

The slideshow was in a folder titled SimpleViewerSS in the iDisk/Web/Sites folder. Inside that folder was a folder titled "simpleviewer" that contained the index.html file and other files for the slideshow.
You can place the thumbnails at the top, bottom, left or right.

Can't import landscape photos into iWeb

I've started up iWeb for the first time in ages, and suddenly find I can't drag and drop landscape-oriented photos onto any page. Portrait photos are fine, but the landscape ones appear as a box with the file name inside and no image.
This happens when I drag and drop from the media tool bar and when I share photos from iPhoto using the "share > send to iweb" command from the toolbar.
If I try to drag and drop direct from iPhoto, I get this message:
"The media can’t be used because you don’t have access privileges, or because it has no content or is corrupt."
I'm the only user of this macbook, so not sure how access privileges are involved...
I'm stumped! Grateful for any help or suggestions.

How to collapse empty space above each photo in an album?

Hi folks.
I have a photo album setup to display my photos as a single column with no caption.
I'm seeing an alarming amount of 'dead space' above each photo. I.e., when I click on the photo in iWeb in order to see the blue bounding box that contains the photo, there's a lot of empty space.
Some of my photos are portrait orientation and so the gap is only about 1/3 of the height of the photo. But for some of my landscape-oriented ones, the gap can be as much as twice the height of the photo.
Is there any way to force iWeb to adjust the container to the height of each image plus some padding?

The only user controlled spacing is that offered by the Photo Grid pane and that doesn't really affect that spacing much. Other options would be to go the flash route with one of the applications or iPhoto plugins available. Examples of some of them can be see in these demo pages:

Can't view photos, movies in "horizontal / landscape view" on iPhone 4

I can't view movies, photos, Safari web on my new iPhone 4 in "horizontal / landscape" view. What am I overlooking here? Is there a setting in "Settings" on the phone I can change, or is this "not" available on the iPhone 4? That would be ridiculous!!!

There is an option to lock the phone in portrait orientation. The lock is accessed vie the multitask screen: double tap the home button, and swipe from left to right, and you should see the lock at the far left. Press it to toggle the lock on/off.

IOS4 landscape photos sideways in e-mail

I've e-mailed photos, taken in landscape mode, on iOS 4 (3G and iPhone 4) and they're sideways. It seems that iOS no longer orients landscape photos correctly before e-mailing them.

To reproduce the problem, simply snap a photo in landscape mode and then e-mail it to your desktop e-mail client (i.e. Mail) and it'll be sideways.
I'm seeing this problem with friends on Facebook who post their photos automatically from Posterous.

I don't think that's the case. Some has definitely changed with the way the iPhone handles photos in iOS 4. Prior to iOS 4, photos were orientated according to the how the camera was held. To me, this seems to make the most sense since the photos would appear correct when displayed by software without needing to dig into the EXIF data.

crh24, what happens if you take a photo in portrait mode, with iOS4, and then e-mail it to yourself and look at the photo in Main on the desk top? (It will probably appear sideways).
I just took a photo in landscape, with the button to the left and e-mailed it to myself. It's upside down in Mail (Mac OS X 10.5.8).
I wonder why they made this change?
The only time I checked it prior to iOS4 was with iOS 3.1.3. I sent a friend a bunch of photos taken on my 3GS iPhone at a professional baseball game with various orientations. The only ones that displayed correctly on his PC were those taken horizontally with the home button to the right.
I then used EXIFTool to examine the EXIF data in all of the photos. I also examined my 'sent' folder and found that Thunderbird oriented them exactly the same way as my friends PC, i.e. the EXIF data was not utilized correctly. That lead me to the conclusion I stated above as every one of the photos contained the information necessary to orient the photo properly. All Apple apps I tried and all Adobe apps I tried (I have Lightroom and Design Premium CS5) read the EXIF data and oriented the images properly.
I then sent them to an account I could read in Apple mail and each and every one of them were displayed correctly. Preview also displayed them correctly. iPhoto displayed them correctly.
A photo taken in the portrait mode--with the home key down--is displayed by Thunderbird with the top to the left. This is exactly what I was talking about above, i.e. the photo is stored in landscape mode with the EXIF revealing the proper rotation to apply to get it into the proper orientation. The EXIF in this photo says to 'Rotate 90 CW' which effectively moves the 'top' from the left to the top. This photo again displays correctly in all Apple apps I tried and all Adobe apps I tried.
Think about it. Your statement proved what I said. If the iPhone stores photos as if they were taken in landscape with the home button to the right what would you expect to happen if it was taken with the home button to the left and displayed by this errant app? It would be upside down because the iPhone has been rotated 180 degrees.

Slideshow not showing landscape photos

I am exporting a slideshow from iPhoto and it is not including the landscape photos, only the portrait photos. I have deleted iPhoto and re-installed it yet the problem persists. Any ideas?

How many photo groups do you have in your photo page?
iWeb only allows ONE photo group in photo page, unless you do some post processing, ie: http://hac.i4host.net/una_mas.html

Just in case you are not running iOS 7 and don't have the control center feature.....
If you see a lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen - then the screen orientation is locked.
Try the side switch above the volume rocker first and see if that unlocks the screen. If that doesn't do it and you are running iOS 5 or 6, double tap the home button and swipe to the right and look for the lock icon all the way to the left.
If you are running iOS 7, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to the control center and the lock icon is in the row of icons at the top all the way to the right.
If the screen is unlocked but still will not rotate, reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the button

Cannot see Aperture 3 photos in iWeb

I have a huge problem... I am a photographer and am constantly updating my website, however, I cannot see my Aperture 3 photos in iWeb (the folders that I have created over the past few months don't show up at all). I have had to transfer photos from Aperture 3 to my iPhoto library in order to use them in iWeb, which is such a waste of time (and space). Can someone please assist???

If you have not found any problems using DiskUtility, I would suggest that you might try deleting your Aperture preferences file (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2945) then re-open Aperture and set your preferences up again. That may resolve the iWeb issue as well as your Export difficulties.

Why is it that when i tap a song in my music it plays the song 2 spaces above it?

My iPhone 5 was almost out of storage so i was clearing music (not using data cable connected to computer) and when i started playing a certain song instead if playing that song it played the song 2 spaces above it. Can someone please tell me whats wrong, and give me a solution?

I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. If it is consistently selecting something away from the location of your tap, especially if it's happening in multiple apps, you may have an issue with the display response. Does anyone know how to copyright your photos in iWeb so that others can download your images and claim them as their own?? thanks

So is more dificult for others to use them as their own as this pictures are in way less resolution than prints and is very difficult to use video images on a catalog, it look like crap.
And there is another way
Put your images like I did in video, then place a box layer on top of the video and make that box transparent:
Under the "Inspector" window, go to "Graphic", then go to "Opacity" and make the square "0%", make shure is on top of your whole video so no one can download your video.
This is actually the best way, but then again if you don't put a copyright notice like the "Belinda" pictures I did (she is a Latin Pop Star, That is why I put that copyright notice on top of every shot, there is a lot of fans who like to have some of those pictures) you will still have to worry about:
"Shift" + "Command" (Or Apple) + "4"
That one is the command to copy what ever you want on the screen

That means your original library is damaged and requires first aid. Do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

How do I crop a 4x6 aspect portrait photo (using the 4x6 built-in) from a landscape photo?

I have Lightroom 2, 2.7.
I have read I can just type "x" while in crop mode, but I get a message "Set as rejected" and nothing helpful happens.
I have a nice landscape photo with two people... I want to take the left half of the photo and make it a vertical/portrait with a 4x6 (exactly... no approximations) ratio, using the settings in the LR crop menu, but every time I use them it flips me back into landscape. X doesn't work. I can manually create a crop box, but what good does that do me if I can't tell if it's 4x6 or grow/shrink it with a locked ratio?
I am using the "Develop" menu, using the crop tool (dashed box), and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this... it's very frustrating. Google searches yield (just press X)... but that doesn't work. Even with aspect unlocked.

It's a long time since I used 2.7 so this may not be available to you, but...
do your crop options look like the screen grab? (this is v5.3).
If you do have this then click the drop down to the right of 4x6 and you'll find "Enter Custom". If you save an input of 6 x 4 you should have what you want - if I've understood you correctly.

How do I Add Music to the Slideshow in photos in Iweb

How do I add a song from my itunes library to play while viewing the slideshow portion of my photos in Iweb'09? I have tried this numerous times throughout the day today but am getting nowhere.
Also, can I add a video portion of the Letterman Top Ten list to a page in my Iweb?

That's not an option with iWeb. You can add a song to the photos page that will play automatically (and loop if desired) that would continue to play when the viewer clicks on the slideshow button. This demo page has such a setup.
I don't remember if Cyclosaurus (our resident javascript expert) had posted a solution via javascript and an HTML snippet. You might search the entire iWeb forums for posts by Cyclosaurus with a topic of slideshow music or something similar.
