Try creating a new user account (system Preferences -> Users & Groups) and see if it behaves the same.

If a new account and Safe Mode do not change anything, then it is a very good change it is the keyboard.

Why do my .Mov's not play after pressing space bar

I used to be able to press the space bar on any movie file I had and it would open up and play. Now for some reason, it opens up a window but it is just black? If I double click it or open it in Quick TIme it plays fine, but I liked the feature of just clicking my space bar and it playing straight away. Any ideas why it isn't doing this anymore?

You problem sounded rather odd, so I tried to duplicate it in iTunes 11 and I couldn't.
I turned off copy to iTunes media folder when adding to library, then I moved a music track that was not in the iTunes media folder from folder A to folder B and right clicked on it and selected open with iTunes and it played fine. (I have to do it this way as iTunes is not my default player for MP3).
However the consequences of doing this are that you end up with two copies of the track in the library database, the original which can no longer be found as it is not in its original location and the new entry pointing to the correct location which plays OK.
So as far as I can tell, there must be something else going on as I can't dublicate your problem in iTunes 11

If you want an easy time with iTunes it really is easier to let iTunes manage your music in the iTunes media folder. Also it make life a lot easier if you want to move to a new disk or PC as iTunes can tolerate the iTunes media folder being moved as long as you tell it where it is.

I realised that my last experment was not a purchased track.
When I did it with a purchased track, iTunes recognises that it should be in the library database and brings the track up with an exclamation mark next to it. Strangely the track was added to the library with the correct loaction and would play on the secon try.
Odd behaviour, maybe it is something to do with the icloud storage system as iTunes knows you purchased the track.

Space bar not working to move the document

I am having issues with shift-constrain resizing not working, and option-drag duplication not working, also using the space bar to move the document around the viewport. OSX 10.10, InDesign CC. I reset the preferences, restarted which failed to solve the problem, anyone knows how to make it work? Thanks!

I'd just like to add, since updating a couple of Mac Pro clients, running Mavericks 10.9.2 and Photoshop CC with the latest 6.3.8-2 Wacom Driver, early signs are that users have noted an improvement in performance of Photoshop CC.
Its quite early days yet, however shortcuts that had been slow to respond and we have had multiple app crashes in Photoshop CC when using multi-layed 16-Bit Tiffs, seem to be ironed out.
Also we have had to use the whitewindow plugin for photoshop too.
Sorry to crash in on an InDesign thread regarding Photoshop CC issues, however I have seen a lot of common ground for many folks issues with Adobe software being they are using a Wacom device of some sort.
Would be good to know if others have noted any improvements with this driver?

Space Bar Issues

For the last several months I've noticed that my space bar when pressed won't respond unless I almost bang on it. I've tried cleaning under the key, and increading keyboard sensitivity via the system preferences. Does anyone have any other ideas that would help? It drives me crazy to have to double back and put spaces between words when I've done a substantial amount of typing. PLEASE HELP!!!

P.S. I'm not 100% sure my iBook has Mac OSX (10.4), it may be a little higher or lower. Unfortunately I'm not at my home computer right now to check.

this could be caused by a software problem. when you get to your computer again find your install disks for the current operating system (make sure it is whatever it says in the system profiler) and run a disk repair. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214. if this isn't helpful, then create a new user in system preferences > accounts by clicking the plus sign above the lock. test the keyboard in the new user to see if there is any difference. as well, try resetting the pmu on your ibook. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449. My Flexible space bars in the toolbar keep deleting themselves off the top of my browser when i close and open firefox

Why does my space bar give me a forward slash?

My keyboard has gone mad on my 13" mac book pro.Caps lock gives me a P, P gives me caps lock, enter gives me } and space bar /.
Has anyone got any ideas? I have reset the PRAM and tried everything else. Help!

Sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try again

Typing on the Internet here and on Twitter extra spaces are added.

Typing on Twitter and on this website now, extra spaces are added at the beginning of where I started dictating. They are added it at the moment the dictation microphone is switched off. It does not happen on Quick Drafts and on the notepad that came with the iPad. It did not happpen now with regular typing. On Twitter the cursor starts out in strange places including outside the box that you write in. And that is unrelated to dictation. Once I start typing it moves into the correct position. This started after I updated to 8.3. And after Twitter stop letting iPads use the desktop site. But might be unrelated to both.

You are my hero! On the Twitter thing. (Still need a dictation hero. ) So happy to have that back. One additional piece of info. I did what you said on the mobile site. So somebody in my in my boat can just go to Twitter on the mobile site and then do the touch the address bar pulldown thing. Which is even easier. Thank you so much!

Space bar issue

I recently had a problem with my 10.7.3 13 inch mid 2010 macbook pro, I coudn't copy and paste,
I reinstalled the operating system and updated back to 10.7.3 and now, when I have the log out or shut down screen:
I'm clicking the space bar and to unchek and it makes an error sound..
any idea why?

It is really common when you want to login some web site and you have the option for the website to sign you in automatically and you can un/check that using the space bar, while this feature works on websites, it doesn't work anymore on my OS itself for some reason...

A white space (bar, border, stripe) appears in the rightside of the play window. Some slides only so it appears to flash. It shows up in the preview as well as SWF output, but not in the design mode/window. The space varies in width up to ~.2 in. wide and as tall as slide. It is beyond the play/control bar but on top of the thick border I've added. The previous two projects didn't do this.

     Jpeg 80%

Video Color Mode is 16 bit
The Quality property for all the slides is 'Low (8-bit).

Upgraded to snow leopard, now safari scrolls a page down when space bar is hit and sometimes crashes. Any ideas for a fix?

I just upgraded to the new snow leopard, now my Safari is acting loopy. At times, the page will scroll down when I hit the space bar. As I type this discussion the screen isn't paging down, but if I go to the tab where I have facebook loaded and hit the space bar, it acts as a page down key. I've had safari crash about 5 times tonight for no apparent reason. The delete key sometimes will act as a page back key. I really have no idea whats going on.
I've had keyboards go wacko on me before due to something being spilled on them or a wireless problem, but this keyboard is a wired keyboard and nothing was spilled on it. It's rather new and I'm quite certain it's not a keyboard issue.
No settings have been changed on the computer. The only thing different today from yesterday, is the fact that I upgraded to snow leopard.
Help would be pretty sweet.

Why do none of the links that I put in my outgoing yahoo emails no longer underline themselves and become live when I finish typing them and hit the space bar?

Previously, when I typed my email address in an outgoing email or cut and pasted a link from my browser bar the link would become 'live' when I hit the space bar or 'enter' key. The link would turn blue and underline itself and the person receiving the email could just click on that live link and be taken to the site. Now the link does not turn blue or underline itself and the receiver must cut and paste the link into their browser bar to use it.
Why? I did not change anything in Yahoo or Mozilla.
I have deleted and reinstalled Java to no effect. I am using html in Yahoo.

As it turns out, many others have been having similar issues on other browsers. It seems that maybe Yahoo! is taking a much longer time to load or something like that. Either way, its been working on and off all week, and the same issue even showed up yesterday with IE 8 instead of FF. It still loads faster than IE 8, but again is spotty. Some people think the issue may be with mail.yimg.com or s.yimg.com, which I could see was the loading url in the left corner whenever Yahoo! Mail was refusing to work. A couple of people said blocking it caused the issue. Alternatively, some people suggested blocking it to solve the problem. Does anyone have any information on that? Again, I have no add-ons that would be blocking any urls, and my firewall hasn't any records of it. I really don't want to do anything to mess up my browsers more than they may have already been. Could be a third party app preventing you from being able to login.

If it's not a third party issue, follow the instructions here.
Quit the MAS if it's open.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left then open the Library folder then the Caches folder.
Move the com.apple.appstore and the com.apple.storeagent files from the Caches folder to the Trash
From the same Library folder open the Preferences folder.
Move these files Preferences folder to the Trash: com.apple.appstore.plist and com.apple.storeagent.plist
Same Library folder open the Cookies folder. Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the MAS.

Command Spacebar opens Spotlight as you have found out. If you want to change languages you need to say what app you are using to write the story in, I'm guessing you are using Pages or MS Word. If that's the case
Pages: Open Inspector - Click the T tab - Click Language and change your language.
MS Word: Tools Menu - Language - Choose your language.

Help - space bar on touch not working

hi - the bottom row of my keypad (space bar etc) does not work in Safari. Seems to work fine on home page - but on Safari and games doesn't work.... Would really appreciate help - my itouch is about 3 years old. thank you

Have yo tried the standard fixes:
- reseting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restoring the iPod from backup via iTunes
- Restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod via iTunes

How to make the words show up without me prompting by tapping space bar?

Now that I have gotten all the text on the front page to appearall together and not one line at a time, each line prompted by me hitting the Space bar, how do I get the words to appear all on their own without me tapping the space bar? This will be exported as a video to Youtube so the viewer won't be able to tap the space bar to make the video progress.
Isn't there something called ”automatic”? I want to just click the “Play” button and have the text just appar all on its own.
