Spam filtering before frontline

Here's a whacky question,
I have implemented frontline spam defense, and it is working beautifully (Thanks again Alex!)
The only strange thing (which I am sure has something to dowith another aspect of my config) is that if an email is identified as "junk mail" it is immediately redirected to "junkdepot" folder - which is good. However this also happens if the email is sent to an invalid user??
I would prefer this was just immediately bounced back.
I am wondering if there is a quick and easy fix for this... if not I'll live...Not a big deal.
Any ideas? Thks - Rohin

This makes no sense, I have made no changes, updated with 10.4.9 combo and everything continues to work properly and I'm using Net:Server 0.95, both amavisd-new-2.3.3 and amavisd-maia continue to work without issues.
I believe it's due to the method you install your cpan moduleshowever no one really asks for the correct correct flags and for the most part use cpan to build and install the modules.

When is iCloud going to fix there SPAM filters already?
! I have received 3 consecutive emails from the same domain although I marked the first one to arrive as SPAM. Truth be told none of them should get through. Why is there not an Allow list in iCloud?!

They say it can take up to 15 minutes for the SPAM filters to start working after you mark them as SPAM but I was receiving these at a greater than 15 minute interval.
Don't they do an MX record check on these emails to check if they are SPAM?
My guess is Apple has hired a 3rd party business to do SPAM scanning before the SPAM ever gets to Apple. They need to get on them.

  • Mail spam filters stopped working

About 2 weeks ago, I started getting a lot more spam than before. Looking closer, I saw that messages very similar to the new wave of spam were previously moved to the junk folder, but the new junk stayed in my inbox instead.
The same day I started getting more spam, my wife complained of having the exact same problem. We're using different computers, different OS versions (10.8 vs. 10.9). I could understand if some spammers managed to avoid being flagged, but not all of them on the same day! Is there a server that Apple checks against that went down?

It's possible that Apple's spam filters need updating. I use SpamSieve. You might give it a try. Has a demo.

  • Can I stop Apple's spam filters restricting genuine mail messages

I suspect that a genuine e-mail has been wrongly treated as spam by Apple's internal spam filters? The item in question is an e-newsletter from a UK preserved railway company of which I am a member. The sender has checked the log files and verified that the item has been successfully sent to the correct address, but it has not arrived in my Mail account, either in the in box or the junk folder. I suspect that for some reason the Apple automatic spam filter is preventing the newsletter from reaching me. How do find out if that is the case and then tell Apple that their filter is treating genuine mail as spam, without having to pay for contact with Apple support?

It's not there either. I suspect that Apple are employing some sort of spam mail filters which come into effect before the mail reaches either my iCloud account or the mail account. In the past I have reported some persistent spam to Apple by forwarding it to [email protected] I then stopped receiving that spam, so they must be filtering it at a higher level. The e-newsletter is sent out by the railway as a bulk e-mail, so I suspect that its falling foul of Apple's filters. How can I get that message to Apple. They are causing the problem, so I don't see why I should have to pay a support fee for the privilege of telling them!

  • Silent Spam Filtering - No NDR to Sender / No Notification to Recipient / No Option to Release Blocked Emails / No Support Document to request for Whitelisting of Sender

Silent Spam Filtering used by iCloud is currently affecting us and our Customers. Our Customer, when sending us emails from their business domain (no presence on Global Spam Blacklists), is not able to reach us on our iCloud account and there is absolutely no sign of the email within the Inbox / Junk Folder and surprisingly no NDR to the Sender
Symantec MessageLabs used for Outbound Mail Frittering by our customer confirms the emails to be delivered to MAC Servers, but not being forwarded to us or other end users using *@icloud.com account
    Delivery Report Extract:
2014-10-15 03:56:39 PM SMTP Status: OK
    2014-10-15 03:56:44 PM Delivery attempt #1  (final)
    2014-10-15 03:56:44 PM Recipient server: 17.158.8.68 (mx1.mail.icloud.com)
2014-10-15 03:56:44 PM Response: 250 2.5.0 Ok, envelope id [email protected]
There should be a convenient way to request Apple Support Team, for addition of the Sender to an approved list or there should definitely be a Notification to the recipient of a Blocked Email address, which should help them to identify and release such emails, at will into their Inbox and not land up losing critical Customer Communications
Cloud based Spam Filtering Solution Providers(Symantec, Microsoft and others to name a few) allows such options, as an email is now  a Business Essential Document and should be securely delivered to recipients

This issue has become increasing prevalent over the last year and a half and has been covered by a number of reputable websites doing their own testing:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/2029570/silent-email-filtering-makes-icloud-an-u nreliable-option.html
    http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/mac/apple-censoring-icloud-emails-attachments-343 2561/
    http://www.mcelhearn.com/apples-silent-email-filtering-is-just-plain-wrong/
No bounces are sent - messages are being accepted by Apple's mail servers and then filtered before they reach users inboxes. This is a pretty big deal.

  • Spam filtering solution for iPhone and a question.

I've read a lot of posts about spam filtering for the iPhone and have yet another solution and a question. I use SpamSieve and I am not affiliated with them in any way. The nice thing about SpamSieve is that if it is the first rule in your Mail.app rule set any mail that follows has already been filtered. All you need to do then is create another rule that redirects email to what ever mail account you choose. Since my ISP allows multiple accounts, I will simply create an iPhone@myISP account.
Now the question. Is it possible to write an applescript that will turn the redirect rule on or off so that I don't have to dig into the rules section of Mail to get this done?
    Thanks

Is it possible to write an applescript that will turn the redirect rule on or off so that I don't have to dig into the rules section of Mail to get this done?

  • Emails from my Blackberry are getting trapped by spam filtering

It's not a consistent thing, which makes this more aggravating, but I have my work email set up on my Storm (9530), and many times, when I reply to an email that involves my co-workers, my emails get trapped by our online spam filtering.  Both my work email, as well as the "bis" Blackberry information has been added to the "whitelist", but these emails still have occasion to be trapped.
Can someone please help me get to the bottom of what is being embedded in the source header information from these emails that might be causing this problem?
I've noticed this is true of other emails originating from BlackBerry phones, regardless of the carrier.
    Thank you.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
I'm thinking that you need to work with your SPAM filtration vendor...all of the header information is fully visible to an administrator who traps one of the captured emails. They need to compare that trapped email to the rules they have in their SPAM filter. I pretty much doubt that anyone "out here" could possibly have the level of access required to do any meaningful diagnostics. Unless I misunderstand your request...
    Good luck!

  • How do I make a wild card for spam filters

I get a lot of spam and I am trying to create one daily filter to catch the domains that use multiple prefixes....... @comtaff.us.
Do I add any values in front of the @ as a catch all? Is there any other reading on setting Mail's spam filters?
    Cheers.

That's not really a Firefox issue; but here's a list of birthday car websites: http://email.about.com/od/birthdaygreetingcards/tp/birthday_e_card.htm

  • Upgraded to 10.7.5, and my spam filtering doesn't appear to work well in Mail

Sometimes it will put the spam in the Spam folder, and sometimes it won't.   Is there any way to force it to always put spam in the spam folder automatically?
Is 10.8.5 or higher any better at spam filtering than 10.7.5?
Yes, I have 10.9.2 on one machine, but have not had a chance to upgrade all the machines.

It is desperately critical to delete all existing PSE preferences when you upgrade OS X. How did you do the upgrade? Did you just install it over your previous system, or did you do an erase install and then migrate back your programs and data?

  • Spam filters in DMZ and Multiple Gateways

    Hello All,
I am trying to set up my mail environment for redundancy including dual ISP's.
Currently using Exchange 2007 and moving to 2013 DAGS.
I have Barracuda spam filters in my 2 DMZ's
I am OK with Multiple MX Records.
I hope to not have any single point of failure.
Where I am having a problem is the Gateways on the exchange servers.
Can the servers be set up to use whatever gateway the smtp request came in from?

    Hello Ed thx again.
I am familiar with the DNS MX records controlling the inbound route.
The problem i'm having is I have two ISP's the one where the gateway 192.168.10.1 which is set up on my exchange server works fine.  The other ISP gateway 192.168.10.5 sends packets in but does not know how to go back out the 192.168.10.5 gateway.

  • Can't configure spam filters

Hi, my father recently acquired a blackberry from the university of Granada (UGR) and i should be able to enter to http://blackberry.orange.es/ but after entering my PIN / IMEI i get an error saying i can't acces with an HTML client but directly through the blackberry, i tried this way but all i get is the configuration page of the beginning where there are no filter options whatsoever.  Where and how can i configure the spam filters??
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Try finding your BIS logon page via this portal:
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Where_can_I_log_into_my_BIS_account%3F
BTW -- BIS does not have a spam filter per se. What it has are filters you can create one by one -- filter out a sender address, filter out a subject line. But it is not a full spam filtration system. For that, you have to see the owners of the email service being used and see what server-level spam filtration they can offer.
    Good luck!

  • Spam filtering

    Hi all
I am getting about 15 spam emails an hour. i use apple mail junk(2.08) but its not always regognised. anyone no of a good spam fill ter i can use in addition.
    thanks Michael

    Hello Michael.
No spam filter will catch 100% since spammers are constantly tweaking/changing their methods to bypass spam filters.
Since you are getting 15 spam messages an hour, you need to do something else.
See my post in this thread.

  • What is going on with the SPAM filtering?

    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
What is going on with the SPAM filtering?  Works fine for a couple of weeks then suddenly I got slammed with tons of SPAM for a few hours then suddenly the filtering kicks in again.  Usually happens late at night and clears up in the morning.  Never had this problem until just a couple months ago.  It's gotten so bad that I'm about to move everything over to gmail and just stop using Verizon, would rather not do that as I've had the same e-mail address since the Bell Atlantic days.

Since we haven't heard back from you or have received a form submission as requested in your private support case, it appears assistance is no longer required. If you need any future help with your Verizon service, please make a post here on the forums so we can assist..

  • Excessive SPAM even with SPAM Filtering configured

SPAM Filtering is configured and is checking email, however, its not catching SPAM email messages. The header on a sample message came in with SCL:0 and PCL:2. The AntispamReport says SenderIDStatus None. But its SPAM. Wondering if recently others are
experiencing a lot of SPAM and how can the filters in Exchange be configured tighter but not block good email.

Well, you can consider moving to some dedicated SPAM filtering solutions like Exchange Online Protection.
