SPDIF Audigy 2 ZS: Where

Ok, I've tried downloading the Product Manual and the CHM file doesn't open correctly... I'm going to upgrade my system and was planning to buy the Audigy 2 ZS OEM, not the one with the front panel as I can't afford it. I have a RCA RTS350 Surround Sound that has a Digital Input Coaxial and Optical slot, my question is does this particular card of the Coaxial option on the SPDIF OUTPUT to plug into the Home Theater System? If not, can I get a converter to do so? Building my own Media Center....
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E68290278 is the product I'm looking at buying. It has SPDIF Out, but I don't know where it is located on the board, and what type of cable it takes. If this is compatible with the Digital options on my Home Theater, let me know so that I can purchase the board and get started... Also, if I need some cable adapters, let me know what I'll need. Want to buy it all at once!!!
Basically what I want is my soundcard to have multiple channels available (only have a 2 channel old soundblaster now), that way I can take full advantage of my home theater from the PC when I'm playing movies. The problem now is that I only get audio on the center speakers, and faint sounds on the others unless I have it on a PRESET like ARENA mode. I figured by upgrading to a 7. I could get sound to all of my speakers. The thing there is, I have options of either the two left/right RCA cables, Digital Coax, or Digital Optical... I figured Digital is better. Recommendations welcome...
Thanks so much for help, whoever hel

Allright, so that sounds good to me. As for the games, I guess I would need to have an analog cable going to the home theater as I do now? The output on this old soundcard as an analog RCA to the "AUX" connection on the Home Theater receiver... Any other suggestions? I'm sure hoping I get some good surround sound for once... Noting that you said only from DVDs that have the content in them, is there a way to have the card emulate the surround sound and send it through as PCM packets for what doesn't? Say I download some of the videos and tv shows I like to watch, is there a way to have it emulated so that when they are played, I hear them everywhere and not just on the LEFT/RIGHT front speakers?

    Hi folks!
I'm building a HTPC and the MSI RS482M motherboard looks like a perfect candidate for me!
However, I'm having problems locating a supplier for the TV-out and SPDIF brackets.
I've asked the retailer if they're a part of the mainboard package, and it turns out they're not.
Any idea where I could get one?
I live in Ireland, but any online store that ships here will do.
    Thanks!

My RS482M4-ILD came with seperate brackets for the video outputs, the extra audio connectors, and bracket with a single spdif port.

  • Enabling Digial I/O Module on Audigy

I am sorta suprised that there is not more documentation on enabling Digital I/O on the Audigy 2 besides where to plug it in on the card? I recently purchased a set of surround sound head phones that have coaxial and optical inputs so I purchased the Digital I/O module. I cannot find where to enable or to "power" the digital I/O anywhere in the software. I read something about doing "spdif" pass through but I cannot find anything like this? Do I need updated drivers? Please advise.

  • SPDIF out to HDMI-supporting graphics c

    Hi.
I have an Audigy 2 Value card which I'm trying to connect to my graphics to output HDMI but I can't figure out which way to connect the SPDIF cable.
It's in 2 parts: SPDIF and GND... no markings on the Audigy which goes where, just 2 pins (one marked JP, I think)...
Also, do I need to set this SPDIF Passthrough option? Where do I find this option?
I'm on Vista 32bit and using the latest drivers for SB Audigy 2 Value.
Many thanks for your time. Been getting a little desperate here.

    ?Enabling HDMI Output
Follow the steps to enable HDMI Output function:
. Find the DVI-to-HDMI adapter that comes with
the package, if provided. Consult your dealer
to purchase the adapter if it is not provided.
    2. Attach the DVI-to-HDMI adapter to the DVI
    connector.
    3. Ensure that the adapter is firmly installed.
    below
    4. Use the compliant SPDIF Internal cable to connect both the SPDIF connectors on the
VGA card and your mainboard. Make sure to () plug the orange cable to the SPDIFpin
and the black one to the GND-pin on the mainboard; and (2) plug the other end
(2-pin white connector) of the cable to the SPDIF connector on the VGA card. Note
that wrong installation may cause the damage to the VGA card.
    5. Or, use the compliant SPDIF External cable to connect the SPDIF connector on the
VGA card and the SPDIF-out connector on the back panel of the mainboard. Make sure
to plug the end with 2-pin connector of the cable to the SPDIF connector on the VGA
card, and the other end to the SPDIF-out connector on the back panel of the mainboard.Message Edited by ozprostreet on 05-08-2008 0:4 AM

  • Audigy 2 ZS EAX probl

The game I am trying right now is World of Warcraft.
The game should support EAX since it's listed here: http://www.soundblaster.com/eax/gaming/gamelist.asp
I have a problem with my Audigy 2 ZS where if I try to play a game with any EAX effect such as Environment, Adv. Equilizer or anything related to EAX it will disable all of my sound completely upon loading of the game.
Another weird thing is I can't open the Creative Graphic Equilizer during games either.
I get this error: The audio device supported by this application is not detected. The application will exit.
If I put No Effect for EAX it will work fine. IF I load up the Audio Console while the game is ALT-Tabbed, no presets appear in the Acti've Preset lists.
    I need help ASAP, thanks.
EDIT: Here's a pic of it showing no presets for either consoles: http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/9674/eaxcb2.jpgMessage Edited by vhx on 09-4-2006 06:35 PM

Now I have noticed that CMSS3D is also disabled when loading games. This defeats the entire purpose of using this thing. No EAX, no CMSS3D in games that are suppose to support it, do I have a defecti've card or what?

  • Audigy2zs spdif out in Vista Ultimate32

Hello All, I'm at my witts end here! I'm trying to get spdif out in vista by using the same configuration from XPP, but its no go.
I dl the Audigy2zs vista drivers from creatives web site and installed them in my newbuild with no problem.
In XP to get Spdif out:
Speakers setting in xp: = sound 5. + digital out
Creative audio console: = spdif passthru to external decoder =? Logitech 5. THX, DTS decoder/Speakers
PowerDVD 9 Ultra: sound = Spdif
    THX Console = 5.
But Vista will not produce bitstreamed compressed sound out like XPP.
    In Vista Sound: Spdif
Creative audio console = spdif passthru to external decoder =? Logitech 5. THX, DTS decoder/Speakers
PowerDVD 9 Ultra sound: = Spdif
But all I get is static. Is there something I'm missing? am I configuring this right?
    HELP!!!
    regards,
    Asamp

    Hi asamp
It sounds?OK about your setup. what I shall do is just give you few suggestions to double check with.
    1. First make sure your optical/coaxial cable works fine and also your z-5500's control pod; if it is fine...
    2. Check whether you have selected Dolby Digital li've/DTS connect under the "Encoder" tab of your Creative Audio Console; if it is selected de select it.
    3. Check whether you selected 'spdif passthrough' under the decoder tab of Creative Audio Conole. If it is not, select it.
    4. Go to' Control Panel' ---- 'Sound'----Select SPDIF Creative Audigy-----Select 'Properties' tab------ select 'Levels' tab and check whether the sound level is set on very low (say?0) (its a 0-00 scale) if it is set in low please move it to a higher value (80/90/00).
After all these measures still your problem persist; go to 'control panel' select 'sound' select 'SPDIF Audigy 2' and set it as default; restart windows and try a DVD.
Try these and let me know whether it work or not
    GOOD LUCK

  • Difference if connecting to external digital receicer via mono to RCA cable and coaxial ca

Please tell the difference if connecting from Audigy 2 ZS to external digital receicer via (/8 inch) mono to RCA cable and coaxial cable (from front panel with SPDIF out/in).
Where can i get this /8 inch mono to RCA cable? I dont find it listed in the accessories of creative website.
    Thanks

There is absolutely no difference as far as sound quality goes, as both are digital connections. You can buy a minijack-to-RCA cable at radio shack or any similar store. Just ask for a cable to connect an iPod to a home stereo; this is the same adaptor that you need.

  • Does my T61 6457-Z4U have digital video out capability?

The video out connector is the standard DB-15 (three row) female connector type. The Display control panel properties and the XP System Information utility shows "Name: NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M".
My external monitor (Samsung Syncmaster 940BF) can accept and display a digital signal, but is now displaying analog.
If the Nvidia will output digital, how do I change to it?
    Thanks!

  • How do I activate/use the subwoofer on a 5.1 Dolby Digital-system in ga

    Hello guys,
in most games I don't have sound on the subwoofer of my Onkyo TX-DS 575. The Onkyo receiver is set to multi-channel input (which basically connects the signal through the receiver without altering it) and the separate channels (5 surround speakers + subwoofer) are connected to the soundcard properly and are working. I have confirmed this using PowerDVD set to 6 speakers (not SPDIF but the setting where the decoding is done in software)...there the subwoofer is beeing used. But almost no game (e.g. Half-Life 2 or S. T.A.L.K.E.R.) does bring any sound to the subwoofer even if 5. is choosen in the options. This is quite a problem since my other speakers are rather small and don't have good bass.
I think the problem is that the games don't calculate the sound for the extra subwoofer channel. So is there any setting in the drivers or any program that makes something like the average of the other 5 channels and sends it to the subwoofer? Or is there any other way to get sound to the subwoofer in games?
    Thanks,
    Alexander

Just found it myself... I forgot to check this box in the AudioHQ (it is probably called "bass redirection" in the english version):

So it's working now but thanks anyway...

  • Lost volume and bass control

I moved and I lost my volume & bass controller and my subwoofer to PC cables to my Audigy 2 zs, where can I buy them?Message Edited by smneufell on 08-09-2005 05:09 PM

Your best avenues are to either check on the online store for availability (the cables may well be listed there in your region) and regarding the speaker cable I would contact support directly with the model of your speaker systems. They should be able to assist further.
    Hope this helps

  • How do I get to the screen on my Audigy 2ZS where I can enable 'SPDIF Pass-through'

I see the screen on your support page but I cannot get to this screen with my software. Do I need to download a driver or application to get this option. I have a set of Logitech Z-5500 digital speakers on my Dell XPS 600 computer. I am using the digital coax cable but I need to enable SpDIF passthrough to let the speakes decode the digital output from my sound card in order to get surroun sound from the 5. speakers.

Click on Media Source "Go", then click the "Product Settings" tab, then choose "Device Controls" and click on the "Decoder" tab.

  • Audigy Platinum Ex Windows 7 SPDIF IN not working

Audigy Platinum Ex Windows 7 SPDIF IN not working? I have an old Audigy Platinum Ex that has served me well, until now when I have a new Windows 7 x64 PC (RTM). SPDIF IN no longer works, though everything else does (including SPDIF OUT). I've tried the current and beta drivers for the card, and no difference.
In Windows Vista x64 I could use ASIO drivers with my M-Audio ProFire 60 while using the Audigy for PC audio. Most often this was for skype, which I would set to use SPDIF IN/OUT which I then connected to the ProFires SPDIF OUT/IN. Using the ProFire mixing tool, I could control which mics and levels went to the Audigy while not interfereing with the ASIO drivers recording the mics. The ProFire also recorded the SPDIF OUT from the Audigy to caputre the person on Skype to their own audio track. This is a podcast producer's heaven, and I miss it!
If it's a known issue (SPDIF IN / Win 7), I've had this card through 4 PC upgrades and it's served me well enough I don't mind buying new. The Creative Sound Blaster X-fi Elite Pro looks to be the current version of my Ex - are there any Windows 7 issues currently that would stop me from using it in the role above? I will miss the FireWire port, a shame they dropped that.

Well basically it is possible, and I've found this out. Apparently Dell released a driver or something that allows it to work, but then only if you install a 3rd party modified xp version of the creative suite. I don't remember where I found it, but it was through google... Using some term including x-fi, dts, and vista.... Can't seem to find it now. Anyway, it had a download for the whole creative suite that was modified from the xp version for Vista, however it was buggy as hell, caused driver issues and blue screens, and ended up causing me to have to reinstall Vista altogether again. In other words, it's possible, but I don't recommend it until it's officially supported... Don't know when this will be yet... *crosses fingers*
Luckily I've got a dual OS system with XP too, and I switch to that when I want to use my Xbox 360... However due to Microsoft also being terrible in that department... I now get entertainment off of its 3 red lights... (For those of you who don't know, 3 red lights = hardware error. Sending into microsoft for repair typically is a 2 month process... I'm still waiting on my prepaid shipping box to arri've and it's been 4 days... Will be a similar wait to get it to them, 4-6 weeks for them to actually repair, and another week or so to get it all shipped back). Although even when the console worked, my dsl modem sometimes cut out when playing on Xbox li've and dropped signals, reported errors, etc.
What is with the companies producing technology nowadays? I just want to play Gears in 5. on Xbox li've... *cries*Message Edited by Supercoolyo on 07-22-20070:54 AM
