Special Proc KEy 30 in Material master in MRP 2

respective guru's
Pls explaing about the special proc key 30 (Sub contract)in material master of MRP2 and how to use for external processing .

Hi,
In fyou want to get a material from a sub-contractor you will have to use spl proc key as 30.
Suppose you watn to receive a HALB matl from contractor use key 30.
When you run mrp, a planned order will be created.
Convert this in to pur order.
use me2o or mb1b & send the raw material to the contractor thro 541 mvnt.
Then use migo 101 mvmnt & receive HALB.
You have to use 30 only if you need to get the full material from the contractor.
Suppose you have 3 operation for the halb & you want the contractor to do only the 20th operation then you go for ext processing. For this give control key pp02 in the opreation 20 in the routing.

• "Generic" material master in MRP run

Hi
Our business users want to use MRP to manage the stock of materials such as circuit breakers. There are however many manufacturers/types and while a certain specification is required, they would be happy to purchase from a variety of suppliers whose products could be different from one another.
Would it be possible to use MRP to do this, and how could that be achieved?
The process envisaged would be something like this:
Material number xxxxx with MRP settings defined; stock falls beyond prescribed level.
System must generate requisition indicating requirement for circuit breaker in general
Procurement must get quotations from variety of suppliers (as per tender and procurement policy) based on minimum specification.
Quotations received must be evaluated and based on price/quality, the supplier selected and order placed.
Item must be received against specific material number yyyyy for that supplier's circuit breaker.
Any suggestions much appreciated.
thanks and regards, Lara

you can only receive an item which is specified in the purchase order.
if the purchase order has XXXX then you cannot receive YYYY, you have to receive XXXX and then either use a 309 movement to get it to YYYY, or even better using a production order to make YYYY from XXXX.
Further if you plan XXXX and procure YYYY, then this order does not reduce the requirement for XXXX, and the next MRP run will give you again a requisition for XXXX.

• Pass on Material requirements to MRP areas within Plant

- We are on ECC 6.0 & have a scenario wherein material requirements from depots are passed on to respective plants according to the settings defined in the Special Procurement key in the Material Master (MRP View)
- The requirement from depots are passed on to the manufacturing plant & further down to the Plant in which MRP areas are defined, in the form of Planned Orders, if the stock is not sufficient at depot.
- For Subcontracting, we have various MRP areas within a single separate plant. The requirement is that PR that is generated for STO should be able to pass the requirement to an MRP area (after stock checking at MRP area level), (system to decide the MRP area to be selected for passing on the requirements).
- Currently the system is passing the requirements & checking the stock at plant level only.
- Stock determination rules donu2019t seem to work here.
- The opening up of the u2018Issue storage locationu2019 in STOu2019s by config: (u201CPurchase order-> - Set up Stock Transport order - > Set up Stock Transfer between storage locationsu201D) is yet to be tested.
- But in that case, only a single MRP area is defined for the material & therefore the requirements may flow directly to that particular MRP area. In case of Multiple MRP areas being defined for a single material, how can we ensure that the system determines a stock checking at one particular MRP area & pass on the requirements to it.
Seeking guidance as to how this issue can be resolved.
Precisely,
REQ.FRM>FLOW TO>AS (MRP element)
Depot>Plant 1>Planned order (PlOrd)
Plant 1>Plant 2>Material reservation (MtlRes)
Plant 2>MRP area of Plant 2>Transfer reservation (TrnRes)

dear colleague,
Please check the following info that can be useful:
1) Note 358936 is relevant for MRP areas of type storage location and
not for Subcontractor MRP areas (which you would be knowing).
2) Secondly this note was created as an advance development and not
for any particular customer problem. It was also feasible to
develop this functionality with a small change.
3) The feature of procurement with Schedule lines for components
in subcontractor MRP areas is not available in the standard SAP
suite and there are no plans to develop this in the near future.
This feature would be an advance development.
best regards

• MB21 - Reservation in reference to a BOM - Special procurement key

Hello,
I want to create a manual material reservation against a WBS element in reference to a BOM which uses a special procurement key at component level. This special procurement 70 uses the following configuration points:
- Procurement type: External procurement
- Withdrawn alternate plant indicator: checked
- Issuing plant: 0410
When creating the reservation with MB21, the BOM referenced is created in plant 0100. I was expecting component reservations created from plant 0410 but not. All reservations created are from plant 0100. Any ideas why the special procurement key is NOT taken into account in this scenario using MB21?
On the other hand, I successfully tested this procurement key within a PM order; all component reservations created are from plant 0410, as expected.
Thanks for your help.
Christian

Hi Christian,
Happy to see your posting. Good that your work is going ahead.
But, I think your initial post was not checking "How to..." but was "Why it is not possible in manual MB21 when possible with PM order linked scenario?". Right? For "How to.." the SAP feedback is OK to make use of user exit which one can anyway decide (without SAP involvement) to carry out his/her work.
May I know specific--Has SAP suggested a SAP Note wherein use of User Exit is recommended? or a simple reply to your SOS message as a recommended option?
The reason behind making this point is How it can be considered as standard behaviour when on one side - BOM explosion wrt special proc key and creating reservation/requisition through PM order scenario goes successful and on the other hand not possible through manual MB21?
Bye..

• Transportation lane for special procurement key is flagged for deletion

we are on SCM 7.0 and ECC 5.0 and transportation lane records are automatically created for items with special procurement keys (SPK). When we change an SPK, the old record is automatically being locked and flagged for deletion. This is causing planned orders in the old lane to not be replanned. it is therefore incorrectly indicating that a requiremnt is being met by the old planned receipt.
The documentation indicates that the lane should be locked (not locked and flagged for deletion). When it is locked, the orders are deleted and replanned in the new lane as expected. Can someone tell me if the correct behavior is for it to just be locked or to set to flagged for deletion? if it is supposed to be flagged for deletion, how do we delete the planned orders in the old lane without switching the record back to locked only?

Hello,
Please follow on the SAP Help library:
Automatic Creation of Transportation Lanes

Change of Supplying Plant in the Special Procurement Type
In the SAP R/3 system, if you have changed the supplying plant in the special procurement type, the SAP APO system creates a new transportation lane for the new supplying plant (from special procurement type) and material/plant combination. The already existing transportation lane and now invalid combination between supplying plant and receiving plant in the R/3 system is locked for orders in the SAP APO system. This can be recognized by the lock indicator X that is set by the system.
Removal of Special Procurement Type from the Material Master Record
If you have removed the special procurement type from the material master record in the SAP R/3 system, the SAP APO system locks the already created transportation lane so that it cannot be used in orders.
Hope it helps in this matter.
The best regards,
Michel Bohn

• Work Flow Trigering based on Material Master change

Dear All
Any suggestion to trigger a work flow when the procuremnt key in the material master is changed.
We are facing the problem of not informing all the relavent parties when the planner changes the procurement key from F to E or vice versa.
Also the spec. procurement key changed to 30, 50 etc.,
Because the information is not flown to other relevant sections, the whole master data in in a mess and MRP proposals are greatly affected.
On top of that MRP proposal are not used because of this.
Please reply
Thanks

Hi Raj,
have you looked in the event trace, when this change has been made? It should give you a CHANGED event, that you can start your workflow on. TX for start event trace is SWELS and look into the trace is SWEL.
When you design your workflow enter a start condition, only to react on a change to the procurement key.
I think there is an example almost identical to this in the BIT601 material.
Kind regards
Mikkel

what does it mean by identification of duplicates in material master and how its done?

Hi,
The safety time / actual range of coverage ensures that the planned warehouse stock covers the requirements of a defined number of days. It therefore serves as a time float and thus works alongside the safety stock, which acts as quantity float.
The system simulates bringing the requirements forward by the specified number of days and the planning for the receipts, created for these requirements in the planning run, is also brought forward by this number of days.
Prerequisites
· You have set the Safety Time indicator in the material master record (MRP 2 View) to define whether the safety time is only to apply to independent requirements or to all requirements.
· In the material master record (MRP 2 View), in the Safety Time/Actual Range of Coverage field, you have entered the number of workdays by which the requirements are to be brought forward.
· If, in addition to this actual range of coverage, you also want to define a different number of workdays in certain periods or a safety time less than one day then, in Customizing for MRP in the activity Define Period Profile for Safety Time/Actual Range of Coverage you can define a period profile and assign it to the material in the material master record.
