Speeding the Debug Run of JDeveloper !!

All
I am in the process of debugging an OAF issue that I am facing with Apps (PA Pages to be precise).
I am running (in debug mode) the OAF Objects locally on my PC, so that I can step through the code and hopefully identify the issue.
I have downloaded, installed and have configured the correct version of JDeveloper as outlined in Metalink Note 416708.1.
I have also FTP’ed the whole of $JAVA_TOP into my PC and have placed in the following directory:
<JDEV_USER_HOME>\jdevhome\jdev\myclasses\…….
I have created a OA Project and have set the properties to :
·     Use Repository for Design Time is checked and connection uses an active and valid database connection.
·     DBC File Name is pointing to a valid and proper DBC files which was copied from the Apps Server’s $FND_TOP/secure
·     Username and Password are valid and active FND_USER names
·     The Responsibility Key and Application short name are valid and assigned to the above user.
·     The Optional URL parameter is copied from the browser’s URL when I visited the page by logging into the Apps. It is from the OAF page just before the page I am trying to debug. The String is : &_ri=275&addBreadCrumb=RS&paProjectId=4642&retainAM=Y&_ti=133166532&oapc=6
·     Under the Tools à Preferences , I have set up the Embedded OC4J to be the default Local IP Address.
I then placed a breakpoint on the beginning of the processRequest of the controller class of the Page where I am trying to debug.
Lastly I just run (in the debug mode) the Page (whose URL parameters I have put in the project settings).
Now everything works and then the page (and this is my main frustration ) then eventually after 40 to 50 minutes renders on the browser.
Is there a way of speeding this up at all? This is not the first run, every time I run it I have to wait a long time before the page appears.
This is very very frustrating and prolongs the debug and development process.
Any help and advice is much appreciated.
Thanks
Patrice

Patrice,
Use only paProjectId=4642 and retainAM=Y in the optional url params. Remove the break point and run the page in debug mode. Notice the time it takes now to render.

  • How does a standalone program running in JDeveloper connects to Oracle

    Hi,
Can anybody please answer me how does a standalone program running in JDeveloper10G is getting connected to Oracle ? Normally it should go and check the host address and DB service name in TNSNames.ora file and go ahead. With JDeveloper10 ever after changing the TNSNames.ora file name to some other name the program running in Jdeveloper is getting connected to database. Seems weird ? I was actually doing some testing with that. Anybody please tell me how does JDeveloper handles such situations...

Yes, it depends on the type of JDBC driver you are using. Oracle has two JDBC drivers for Java clients. The oci driver requires an installation of Oracle Client on each machine running the Java app, and has the potential to use the tnsnames.ora entries. The thin driver is pure Java, does not require Oracle Client, and therefore is not aware of tnsnames.ora files.
You want to look in your code for the part that's establishing a connection to the db, and look at the URL, which will tell you the type of driver being used, for example "jdbc:oracle:thin" or "jdbc:oracle:ociX".
You might want to check out the following FAQ on JDBC:

  • Unable to debug the jspx page on Jdeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.6.0, Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.6.0_GENERIC_111205.1733.6192.1, using Windows 7 OS

    Hi,
I am unable to debug the jspx page on Jdeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.6.0, Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.6.0_GENERIC_111205.1733.6192.1, using Windows 7 OS.
When right click on jspx page , clicks on Debug option, it gives the following error:
Debugger unable to connect to local process.
[Server Instance IntegratedWebLogicServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
I also restarted the Jdeveloper, even re-installed Jdev but still the problem persist.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

If the jspx page is not part of the adfc-config.xml the page can only be displayed, but the tags will not work as the adf life cycle  is not involved. drag te page onto the adfc-config.xml (the unbounded task flow), right click on it and select debug from the context menu.
Main problem is : Weblogic server cannot be started in debug mode.
To check this, open the application navigator, select the integrated server, right click on it and select 'debug' from the context menu.
After a short time you should see some messages and at last you should see <Runnning> in the message log. Now the server runs (without any of your applications, but it runs).
If you done't see the 'Running' message you should see an error, which you should post here.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

  • Debug/Packet Trace - flow options on the CSS11501 running 7.20 Build 3

Hello all, I need to do some packet tracing on the CSS11501 running 7.2 and need to limit debugged packets to a particular IP.
I know that you can set the IP by running: "flow trace-ip X.X.X.X"
But what HEX option would I need for the command : "flow options" to only limit the traffic to one IP?
From the help I get this:
    flow options ?
    00000020 Trace Route Changes
    00000010 Simulate DOS Attack
    00000008 Trace Spoof List
    00000004 Trace Source IP Address
    00000002 Trace UDP Flows
    00000001 Trace TCP Flows
I tried different options like 0x00000004 and others, but get an error : "%% Invalid hex string entered".
I can only get all TCP packets using " flow options 0x0000001" and that causes all TCP packets being dumped onto the console which risks crashing the CSS device.
Has anyone been able to just dump packets from one particular IP address?
    Thank you.
    Dmitry.

    Thank you Gilles, that worked!
Don't know why I did not try that before :)
    Dmitry.

  • Anyone had problems running the debug version of InDesign CS6 Server

    Hi Folks,
A number of developers at my firm have tried using the debug version of InDesign Server CS6, but find they cannot run it with the following error:
ERROR [server] Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed and will now quit.
In each case the installer ran correctly and a valid serial number for debug CS6 used (from the Adobe Partners site).
We have no problems with the release version of CS6 server, or CS5/CS5.5 debug/release versions.
Has anyone suffered the same problem?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi Ian,
I had a look and although there was one post suggesting a similar problem, the answer didn't work or was not applicable for the debug version. However I do have an answer - I used a release serial number and it now starts up normally!
    Thanks for your reply.

  • Often I will leave my office and return to find the fan running at max speed and the computer is unresponsive

I also have a MacPro3,1 (2009) I believe and just started experiencing similar issues as described here.
I have scheduled sleep and start cycles and often I will leave my office and return to find the fan running at max speed and the computer is unresponsive or I find the computer booted in to disk utility mode.
I also often loose ethernet connectivity and have to try renewing DHCP lease several times before it will finally work.
Has anyone found solutions for this. I have looked at the console errors right before shutdown and don't really see anything fishy. Here are the last couple of lines before it looks like it shutdown.

Mac Pro early 2009 is Mac Pro4,1, anyway, I think you need to boot into recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, then select startup volume and run repair disk.
Xcode is the latest one, by the way?

but can you explain to me how can i configure remote debugger to run and debug to a virtual machine
You treat the VM as though its any other real machine on your network.
    See the article I linked.
im using Vm workstation 11 and windows xp running on it
It's been a while since I used VMWare WS and I have a vague
recollection that it may have some special facility for debugging with
VS - but I never used it.
also i want to know if i can run and debug to another computer on the same network
Yes, you can - if the OS is supported by the version of VS you're
    using.

Hallo Wein and welcome to Apple Discussions ,
my problem, when i start the ibook only the fan runs in fullspeed, thats it.
to shut down the ibook i have to remove power and accu, the powerswitch do nothing.
pmu and nvram reset does´nt help.
Well try this and see if it helps:
    http://www.coreyarnold.org/ibook/
If so it's U28 on the bottom of the board. The shim fix will work for a good time but a permanent repair is to have the chip resoldered. $40 at Superior.
the first problem was that date/time will lost,
That's because the power is interuppted.
is the problem the Backup battery? And how to change?
There is no backup battery or PRAM battery like in the PowerBooks. There is a .22 Farad super capacitor that will hold settings for a while but not long. Meant to allow a battery change.

  • Hacker problems so I reloaded Snow Leopard. Afterwards, Mac had to delete 798 items. Now looping on 4 items to delete for the past 2 weeks. Can't reboot, reload, or restart. I have to let the battery run down for it to turn off. How to fix this, please?

I had hacker problems so I reloaded Snow Leopard. Afterwards, Mac had to delete 798 items. Now it is looping on 4 items to delete for the past 2 weeks. I can't reboot, reload, or restart. I have to let the battery run down for it to turn off. I think a big part of the problem is that someon one the internet (the hacker) was mirroring my hard drive. It seems to have locked up my system. I could be wrong about this guess, though. All I do know is that it is now looping on the last 4 iems, and I can't do anything.
Well, I can get it to turn on, but all it does is continously try to delete the last 4 items. When I try to reload Snow Leopard, it tells me my hard drive is full and that I need to delete items.
Can anyone help? I am so lost without my Mac. I am back on the PC, and though it works, I'm sure many of you will understand when I say it's just not a Mac.
    Thanks.

I installed Snow Leopard using my Apple external Superdrive. I followed directions I found on the Apple site. Here is the article info:  Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard: How to Erase and Install
                     Article HT3910
                     located at: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3910
Everything was going smoothly until I got to the reinstall part. I had to choose to reinstall on a hard drive or network drive. I've never used a network drive; just the hard drive. It seems that's where the troubles began. I selected the hard drive. It seemed to go well, and then I got the message that I needed to delete some files because I was out of space. I chose to get rid of my music files, but, there were only 636. I don't know what the rest of the files were. I was using the Secure Empty Trash command.
That was my first time doing an erase and install. I tried to do it again, but I now get a continuous error telling me that my hard drive is full and I must delete files. Only I can't delete files because 4 files are still being deleted and my computer won't let me stop the process.
I found out about the hackers mostly by the fact that whenever I used to watch something like Hulu or Netflix, I never had problems with internet connection or speed. Lately, I had internet connection problems. I went in to check my settings for my internet provider and found out the settings had been changed to public and all these extra computers were connected to my network.

My mac is slow, the movies run slowly, the kernel_task consumes 463,3 MB of memory, how can I fix this?
The problem started a few weeks ago with a small decrease in speed, and the videos now crash while the sound remains normal. When I open the Finder or any file it seems that I'm opening the windows with the hourglass spinning. I've already  cleaned temporary, removed everything that was saved on the table, I made up for the mountain lion. I have a Mac 27-inch, 3.06 GHz processor Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB, Software OS X 10.8. With space on the HD.

  • How to setup the default run page in WAR file

Can anyone please tell me how to setup the default run page in WAR file using JDeveloper? I want the login page to be the default page of the application. Thanks!

This is usually done in an .XML or other configuration file based on the particular web application container you are using.
For example, in Tomcat Java Container, its the following parameter in the /conf/web.xml file:
    <welcome-file-list>
    <welcome-file>index.html</welcome-file>
    <welcome-file>index.htm</welcome-file>
    <welcome-file>index.jsp</welcome-file>
    </welcome-file-list>
You will need to look at the documentation for your server container.
    thanks

  • Video not working on the first run of Android app

I couldn't find any results regarding this problem. Maybe I'm just using wrong keywords as it is difficult to explain.
Has anyone else encountered that video is not working on the first run of Android app? By first run I mean directly after installing. I'm using NetConnection, NetStream, Video objects and GPU renderMode. By working I mean it's not showing and can't hear the audio. I haven't yet debugged deeper so I don't know if the problem is actually related to the code loading the video.
I've encountered the following issues, which may or may not be related, regarding the the first run and Video object:
    - The first run takes about 20 seconds to start. After that, the start is pretty much instant. If you clear app's cache, it again takes the 20 seconds to launch. The video works after clearing app's cache.
    - When creating the first Video object, the app flashes screen to black for a few frames. This is why I create a dummy Video object in the beginning.
I use AIR 13, going to upgrade to 14, but I'm quite sure this problem and the issues have been for a while.

I should add that we're using flv, not mp4. And they're progressively downloaded, not local.

  • Is there a bug in the WebService tutorial for JDeveloper 9i?

In reading through the JDeveloper 9i tutorial for building a web service, the final step generates the DateTimeServiceStub.java, but the testing that follows does not use this class, it uses the DateTimeService class.
I built a Web Service based on the this tutorial and when I test with "MyClass.java" it works fine, but when I try to use "MyClassStub.java" it throws the ClassNotFound Exception below:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HTTPClient/ModuleException
         at mypackage.RandomQuoteStub.<init>(RandomQuoteStub.java:21)
         at mypackage.RandomQuoteServlet.doGet(RandomQuoteServlet.java:27)
         at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:195)
         at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:309)
         at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:336)
If we are supposed to use the Stub methods, any thought as to why it fails?
If we are NOT supposed to use the Stub methods, any thought as to why they are generated.
(Yes, I am a bit new to Web Service development).
Thanks in advance for any answers,
    RB

  • Where is the system directory of JDeveloper 10.1.2.1?

In JHeadstart 10g for ADF Installation Guide, it says the followings:
If you want to be able to use JHeadstart Designer Generator: in <JHeadstartHome>\config\jdevaddins you will also find a file named migration.xml. This file must be copied to the system directory of JDeveloper, for example: <JDeveloperHome>\jdev\system10.1.2.0.0.1811. On Linux this directory is in the home directory of the user that is running JDeveloper: $HOME/jdevhome/system10.1.2.0.0.1811. The exact name of this directory depends on the build number of JDeveloper.
But, there is no directory like <JDeveloperHome>\jdev\system10.1.2.0.0.1811 in JDeveloper 10g(Version 10.1.2.1, build 1913) New Aug 2005.
    Where is it?

You have to start JDev 10.1.2.1 once before the
system directory is created under the /jdev
directory. The name will be something like
    system10.1.2.1.0.1913.
    Steven Davelaar,
    JHeadstart Team.Thanks, Steven.
