Splitting an App Set

Hello,
We are on 5.1 SP1 and have a huge amount of history data (100 million records) that needs to be kept but only needs to be accessed by a small group of people from time to time.
Our thoughts were to split the application set into APP and APP_HISTORY. All the data for 2007 and earlier would be kept only in the HISTORY app set.
PROS:
Administration performance would be improved
Storage issues will be improved
Move new data to HISTORY as year in finished with
CONS:
Have to maintain two sets of dimensions in sync
Reporting on both sets of data becomes more complicated
1. Does anyone have any thoughts about our approach to this?
2. Can anyone provide any help on the most appropriate steps we should take to populate the data in the HISTORY app set?

In our implementation, we created a separate app (NOT appset) for History. This works well for all the reasons you talked about.
Please do not forget, however, that companies like/need comparative data. Our reports have all been geared to pick from the appropriate app depending on the year being reported. You may not have worked that in to your reports. So you need to use judgement in deciding when a year becomes 'history'.

Mapping - split followed by set operation

Hi I'm trying to set up a mapping to use as part of testing my warehouse and need some help.
Overview
======
I have a number of different databases that combine through to my operational data store. One verification of our mappings is a simple check of record counts, source table vs target.
Because table names differ between source and target I have loaded (from a flat file) a translation table that maps one table name to another.
I have external SQL scripts that run on a scheduled basis to capture table names, record counts and date of last update from the system tables of four of my source databases and my target database. (soon I'll need to try and replace these with OWB scripts)
I am trying to build a mapping to conform these so I end up with a single fact listing target table, record count, update date, source table, source environment, record count, update date.
I have taken my statistics on the target database, outer Joined it to the translation table (not all target tables have matching translation table records)
Then split the result set by target environment (and remainder)
Then I join each result set to the statistics for the appropriate source.
Next I am using a set operation to union all the results back to my conformed result.
My Problem
=========
Those tables in the target database that do not correspond to a table in one of the four sources cause a problem. (they are either summary facts, flat files loaded or sourced from other databases I have not got statistics on yet)
I cant just link from the splits output set to the set operation because the other joins have added extra fields for number of records in the source. The documentation is very clear that the same fields must exist in the same order and datatype.
I have been trying to work out which mapping operation/s will produce the equivalent of SQL like select col1, col2, null, sysdate, null from mytable
Hmm as I type this up I think another alternative may be to output extra fields in the split (so it looks like the dataset after the join) but not to pass these fields on in the join for sets for specific environments. Ill try that alternative but would still like help with which mapping operator I could have used.

Can I have a little bit more technical information : A small exmaple would be very helpful.

Split View App acting Strangely after Upgrades

I have a Split View app with 6 views. I just upgraded to Xcode 3.2.5 (from 3.2.4) and also have the 4.2.1 OS update on the iPad.
Before the updates, my app on launch would always open on the first view. Now the app opens on the whatever the last view that was loaded before quiting the app.
I know I didn't make this happen. Is there something in the new software that forces this feature?

Help: BPC admin view stuck in creating a new App set

Hello,
We have SAP BPC 7.5.05.1002 NW. I have tried to create a new app set by copying an existing application set. The BPC admin view has been stuck for a couple of hours now. I have a dialog box on the screen, with the message "Waiting for the server's response....". The "OK" button is greyed out.
I would appreciate any help on this. What would happen if I were to cancel this (shut-down my BPC front end)? Would that cause any problems in the BPC application or the application set which is copied across to the new app set?

Saving Saving separate app sets for two iPhones?

This has probably been asked before, sorry if redundant.
I have an iPhone and an iPad, my wife has an iPhone. We prefer different apps on pur phones and a different set for the iPad. iTunes recognizes the devices with different names when they are attached, but the app set from the last device attached is still checked.
It's a real pain to have to go through, checking and unchecking each time, just to Sync one or two new items.
Is there a way to "save" your app set for each item so that when you connect a device, it recognizes it AND the last app set you choose for that device?
Probably a real easy solution but darned if I can figure it out.

The recommended way to handle things is with separate user accounts on the Mac. You'll both have separate iTunes libraries and address books/calendars. You can also each use your own iTunes account much easier that way.
IF you insist on sharing one user account, you can select which groups of contacts sync to each phone in the iTunes preferences. You could also forego syncing contacts with the Mac and sync them with a service like Google or Yahoo instead. This will keep them separate.

2 Problems while Distributing app Version Mismatch. Neither CFBundleversion ['1.1'] nor CFBundleShortVersionString ['1.1'] in the info.plist match the version of the app set in iTunes Connect ['1.1']

Since 2 days when I try to validate or distribute my app it says "Version Mismatch. Neither CFBundleversion ['1.1'] nor CFBundleShortVersionString ['1.1'] in the info.plist match the version of the app set in iTunes Connect ['1.1']". Today it also always says that the Network Connection was lost. Can someone tell me how to solve this problems?

Splitting the app traffic from the cluster and admin traffic

Hi,
We currently have a 10.3.2.0 setup where an admin server is behind a firewall and is running on the Administration Port and is connected to two managed servers in front of a first firewall in the DMZ.
On each managed server there is two network interfaces one for management and one for apps/DB connections.
So I was wanting to know how to you get the managed server to split the traffic??
If I set the managed servers listening address to the management interface then it starts up fine as that what the admin server behind the firewall can see, BUT it means app and JDBC Connections dont work and the server goes to ADMIN state first before you have to manually resume it.
If I set the managed servers listening address to the app interface then it can't start up and the app interfaces address is block from the admin server to the managed server via the firewall.
If I set the managed server to have no listening address and leave it blank in the interface field, it starts up and listens on all interfaces, BUT can't find a route to the admin server.
So what is the answer, can you do something with Network Channels?? Or is it the case you just can't do it and just to have one interface and one listening address as the admin traffic is split by the default administration channel anyway.
Would be get to know.

Are you using cellular data? If yes, try to use Wi-Fi and see if the app works better by using a faster data connection. If you have no problem using Wi-Fi and maps, see if you can have a faster cellular connection by switching to 3G, 4G to LTE service in Settings/Cellular.

Can't open Documents. Error message-No App set to open Document

can't open any file in DOCUMENTS. Get error message -"No Application set to open document".

I do have the Same Problem with on file in my numbers app. Since i have connected to iCloud and since i have Downloaded iOS on my iPad1.
I can't just Accent that the Doc is gone, since ist has very Important Information for me.
Apple support dös Not really send helpfull Information and it seams they know well about this Problem.

Recently I found that the computer is too slow to meet my needs and I plan to buy an external thunderbolt 256GB SSD as an external startup drive.
I know how to install Mavericks on that SSD but how should I easily clone all the apps/acount/setting but NO music/movies/documents from the 1TB HDD to the 256G SSD?
Please help.

BI with Oracle Apps, SET OF BOOKS

I am new to BI with Oracle Apps.
3 different companies are using same Oracle Apps system.
In BI workbooks how do I make sure correct SET OF BOOKS is selected for all the workbooks.
Currently Receipts Analysis workbook allows users to select organizations from all 3 companies.
Looks like I have missed some big configuration / security setting.

Hi,
I don't think the Receipts Analysis workbook has any set of books security built in as standard. What folder/view is the workbook using?
If you are using a GL responsibility you can include selection of your set of books by importing the gl_security_pkg.login_sob_id function in the the Discoverer EUL and then adding a condition that selects the sob id using the sob id returned by the function.

How to prevent Creative Suite apps setting the creator code?

I've just exported a PDF from InDesign CS4. Despite my default app for PDFs being Preview, it's opening in Acrobat.
It was bad enough having Photoshop CS3's exported JPEGs open in Photoshop rather than Preview by default, but now the disease seems to be spreading.
How can I disable this behaviour on Mac OS 10.5? (No, doing a Get Info on every file I export is not a valid answer! )
Surely the Creative Suite apps should have an option as to whether creator codes are set? They've got enough other options, after all…
(I know Snow Leopard fixes this by ignoring creator codes — please, Adobe, don't try and find a workaround for this without making it optional!)

Thanks, but I'm afraid the default for .jpg and .pdf is already to load in Preview. Surely all that fix will do is alter any files CS4 has already exported (and possibly anything where I've explicitly overridden the default app) but not future exports?
I need a fix that I set once, and then CS4 takes the hint that I know best about what programs should open what files (ie it stops setting creator codes).
At least when I can get this old iMac replaced, the new one will have Snow Leopard and the OS will finally ignore the creator codes and just use the default app that I set. About time Apple fixed that…
