Splitting playlists to multiple CD's
I was wondering if there is a way of burning a large playlist to multiple CD's. Thanks.
Export the images to local harddisk and then burn your CD's from there.

Splitting playlist across multiple CDs
Hi there,
according to the itunes help file, it says that when a playlist is too big to burn onto one CD it splits it across multiple CDs. however whenever it completes part of the playlist and then asks for a blank CD, it begins to burn exactly the same thing that it did on the previous one without going onto the remaining songs. is there something that i've set incorrectly?
thanksDon't trust that feature. Split your big list into separate playlists, making sure that each one is under 80 minutes playing time. Then burn them individually. (I assume it is audio CDs that you are burning.)

HT202677 Cancel burning a long playlist into multiple Cds half way through?
How do I stop/cancel burning a playlist into multiple Cds half way through?
Thank you!!Although iTunes supposedly has the ability burn a long playlist across multiple audio CDs, in practice the capability is buggy and error-prone, and always has been. Do not even use it. Split the playlist into individual playlists, each comfortably under 80 minutes, and burn them one at a time.

Yeah I would like to create a Playlist with the by me best rated songs of selected artists i know i can have playlists with multiple artists but that is only possible if i tick match any so that it takes all the songs of those artists and if i select match all there is no song in the playlist...

Bilu,
It is a little tricky, but it can be done by using nested rules. The playlist pictured below will do what you want: all songs by the named artists, as long as the song has 4 or 5 stars.
Note: The ellipsis ("...") button is used to nest a rule. It appears automatically on Windows, but on the Mac you have to use the Option key. -
Playing a playlist with multiple albums in Grid View in iTunes 8
Hi All,
Here is a situation I came across, that was quite unexpected compared to the behaviour in iTunes 7.
Suppose I have a playlist with multiple artists/albums. I have this playlist in Grid View. I choose this playlist from the left side navigation tree and press the play button. This playlist is set to shuffle by songs. I expect it to play a song and jump to the next song. iTunes 8 would just keep playing the same songs in the first album listed in the Grid View and would not jump to any other.
http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/4726/itunes20080910191124oh2.jpg
In this screenshot above, it will keep the songs in "The Very Best Of". If I press Ctrl+L (show now playing) then it would show only the songs in this album. This quite explains why it doesn't play other songs.
To explain a bit more on what's happening:
If I go to List View the song now playing does not have the Now Playing icon:
http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/1113/itunes20080910191500vf3.jpg
Notice it is playing "Opa Opa" but in the List View, it doesn't show it.
This is because in Grid View if you play a song from the playlist, it has its own "virtual playlist"
http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/5269/itunes20080910191525wl1.png
Notice the now playing icon there.
Why is this the case?
I hope you guys understood what I was trying to explain.turingtest2: I had already done exactly what you described in the *"Missing Artist or Album not with others by same artist"* section of your article. But what I hadn't done was the advice you gave as the last sentence in this section...*"In addition if you change the Compilation status of tracks they may be temporarily treated as tracks from an Unknown Album, again things should resolve themselves if you close and reopen iTunes".* As soon as I closed and restarted iTunes, the Unknown Album with five tracks disappeared and the tracks were again displayed with the correct album.
Your article is a great read, even for people who understand iTunes...there is a lot of helpful advice there to have bookmarked just in case any of the other problems you address are ever encountered. Thanks for taking the time to compile it and share it iTunes users. -

thanks in advance.Ah, sorry, strike that. You want multiple files. I think the easiest way is to simply parse with DOM. [http://www.w3schools.com/xpath/default.asp] . And here [http://www.w3schools.com/xpath/default.asp].
You can output the various XML elements using a PrintWriter or creating a separate DOM document for each file you want to create and serializing that.

Splitting TempDB into multiple data files.
To avoid contention we have to split tempdb into multiple data files. But as for case suppose, there is 20 GB total space is on the drive containing 1 tempdb data file of 15 GB. And I have to create 3 more tempdb data files, and as recommendation all files
should be of same size.Then how to handle this situation and configure all data files with same size?

So your goal is to have 4 tempdb files, each 5GB? Below is a sample script to accomplish the task within the 20GB space constraint.
--reduce size of existing file to 5GB
ALTER DATABASE tempdb
MODIFY FILE (NAME='tempdev', Size=5GB);
DBCC SHRINKFILE('tempdev',5120);
--add 3 new 5GB files
ALTER DATABASE tempdb
ADD FILE (NAME='tempdev2', FILENAME='D:\SqlDataFiles\tempdb2.ndf', Size=5GB);

Can one create a smart playlist for multiple podcasts and to play one after the other on your iPod? I want to combine podcasts of the same topic in a smart playlist. When I tried to do this I chose smart playlist, album starts with, and then did it again for each podcast I wanted. That didn't work. If it can be done how do you do it?
I have a fifth generation iPod which is always updated to the latest as well as the itunes.Say for example I want to put different car related podcasts in one smart playlist. Car related podcasts such as Wall Street Journal Car Cast and NPR Car Talk. Can it be done and if so how?

Adapter file sender doesn't split file into multiple message
Hi everybody.
We are in PI 7.0 SP10.
In adapter file sender, I want to split a file into multiple file.
We use protocole "file content conversion"
in the field "recordset per message", I put the value 10 to test.
The file content 30 records .
The result we have is the treatment is not split into multiple message .
The treatment is made but with one message.
I need to treat big files.
Is there some one who have an idea why t doesn't work ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards
Edited by: Eric KOralewski on Jun 25, 2009 3:14 PMHi,
have you specified recordset name......if not, then specify it.............
in recordset structure, specify like RECORD,1 and not RECORD,*
again test your scenario......if still your file data is not getting split, then ask your basis guys to do a full CPACache refresh using PIDIRUSER..........your basis guys will know how to do it..........then again test your scneario............

Split file into multiple Instance of an IDoc .
My file (only one file) in the file system contains multiple entities(lets say sales order).Now using File adapter I want to transfer this file into XI and want XI to create multiple instance of an IDoc(for each sales order) and send them to the target system one by one.
Alternatively can I split the file into multiple entities(sales order) in the file adapter (using dispatcher for e.g) and send multiple message to the configured XI automatically.
Is any of the alternative possible in XI20.
Any responce would be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Bikky.Hi,
You can get the file adapter to split the file without the need for a dispatcher user exit. The config goes a little like this:
mode=FILE2XMBWITHSTRUCTURECONVERSION
xml.recordsetStructure=SALES_ORDER,1
xml.recordsetsPerMessage=1
This last parameter ensures each sales order is posted to the integration engine as a separate message. Therefore a separate Idoc is created for each.
Hope this helps.

Ability to have a playlist of multiple pdfs
I have alot of my sheet music scanned into pdf format and I want the ability to pick a pdf and a page number within that pdf and create some sort of list of multiple pdfs that I want to play in succession, which will allow me to quickly click on the next pdf in the list and it will open acrobat and then goes to that page in that pdf and so on.
Any sort of feature or program exist out there like that?I haven't seen anything like that, but they would be easy to create by combining the files in Acrobat, just use Document>Insert Pages, or open the pages panel and drag and drop. You would have to create copies of the originals, rather than a playlist which leaves the originals there and references them.

There is misleading information in two system views (sys.data_spaces & sys.destination_data_spaces) about the physical location of data after a partitioning MERGE and before an INDEX REBUILD operation on a partitioned table. In SQL Server 2012 SP1 CU6,
the script below (SQLCMD mode, set DataDrive & LogDrive variables for the runtime environment) will create a test database with file groups and files to support a partitioned table. The partition function and scheme spread the test data across
4 files groups, an empty partition, file group and file are maintained at the start and end of the range. A problem occurs after the SWITCH and MERGE RANGE operations, the views sys.data_spaces & sys.destination_data_spaces show the logical, not the physical,
location of data.

The T-SQL code below illustrates the problem.

--The filegroup "TestTable_fg2" has no files assigned to it. Tables, indexes, text columns, ntext columns, and image columns cannot be populated on this filegroup until a file is added.
--The statement has been terminated.
If you run ALTER INDEX REBUILD before trying to remove files from File Group 3, it works. Rerun the database setup script then the code below.
-- RANGE RIGHT
-- Rerun PartitionLabSetup_RangeRight.sql before the code below
USE workspace;
DROP TABLE dbo.TestTableOut;
ALTER INDEX [PK_TestTable] ON [dbo].[TestTable] REBUILD PARTITION = 2;
USE master;
ALTER DATABASE workspace
REMOVE FILE TestTable_f3;
-- Works as expected!!
The file in File Group 2 appears to contain data but it can be dropped. Although the system views are reporting the data in File Group 2, it still physically resides in File Group 3 and isn’t moved until the index is rebuilt. The RANGE RIGHT function means
the left file group (File Group 2) is retained when splitting ranges.
RANGE LEFT would have retained the data in File Group 3 where it already resided, no INDEX REBUILD is necessary to effectively complete the MERGE operation. The script below implements the same partitioning strategy (data distribution between partitions)
on the test table but uses different boundary definitions and RANGE LEFT.

The table below shows the results of the ‘Confirm Table Partitioning’ query, before and after the MERGE.
The data in the File and File Group to be dropped (File Group 2) has already been switched out; File Group 3 contains the data so no index rebuild is needed to move data and complete the MERGE.
RANGE RIGHT would not be a problem in a ‘Sliding Window’ if the same file group is used for all partitions, when they are created and dropped it introduces a dependency on full index rebuilds. Larger tables are typically partitioned and a full index rebuild
might be an expensive operation. I’m not sure how a RANGE RIGHT partitioning strategy could be implemented, with an ascending partitioning key, using multiple file groups without having to move data. Using a single file group (multiple files) for all partitions
within a table would avoid physically moving data between file groups; no index rebuild would be necessary to complete a MERGE and system views would accurately reflect the physical location of data.
If a RANGE RIGHT partition function is used, the data is physically in the wrong file group after the MERGE assuming a typical ascending partitioning key, and the 'Data Spaces' system views might be misleading. Thanks to Manuj and Chris for a lot of help
investigating this.
NOTE 10/03/2014 - The solution
The solution is so easy it's embarrassing, I was using the wrong boundary points for the MERGE (both RANGE LEFT & RANGE RIGHT) to get rid of historic data.
-- Wrong Boundary Point Range Right
--ALTER PARTITION FUNCTION $(TableName)_func()
--MERGE RANGE (15);
-- Wrong Boundary Point Range Left
--ALTER PARTITION FUNCTION $(TableName)_func()
--MERGE RANGE (14);
-- Correct Boundary Pounts for MERGE
ALTER PARTITION FUNCTION $(TableName)_func()
MERGE RANGE (0); -- or -1 for RANGE LEFT
The empty, switched out partition (on File Group 2) is then MERGED with the empty partition maintained at the start of the range and no data movement is necessary. I retract the suggestion that a problem exists with RANGE RIGHT Sliding Windows using multiple
file groups and apologize :-)Hi Paul Brewer,
Thanks for your post and glad to hear that the issue is resolved. It is kind of you post a reply to share your solution. That way, other community members could benefit from your sharing.

Split datafiles in multiple mount points
Hi,
I would like to split my Oracle Applications datafiles in multiple mount points to improve the performance, but I didnt find any document(best pratices) talking about wich tablespaces should be put on the same or different mount point.
For instance:
I have mount points data1, data2 and data3. How to split the "data" datafiles into this 3 mount points.
I already split data, index, logs and system in differents mount points.
Anyone had already done something like that or have any document/information about it.
Thanks,
Marcelo.Hi,
Its an simple concept.
You got to move the datafiles to respective mount points.
Recreate the control file based on the datafiles that locates.
Thats it.
Thanks and Regards

Being able to select multiple songs at a time and then able to add them to a desired playlist/s after that would save an enormous amount of time..especially after saving over 100 songs before sorting them out.
Updated: 2015-07-27Hello and thanks for the feedback!
A similar idea has also been suggested here:
