Project details :
I have a project where a description field is being looked at and based on the values (multiple words) I have to do a vlookup from another spreadsheet to get the dates from the appropriate date fields.
I have created a user defined function to extract keywords from a list from a table. It extracts words from the string separated by comma delimiter.
    I am thinking of assigning values something like this: cooler = 1, compressor = 2, frame = 2, change of order = b etc.
    So if there is a “cooler, compressor, frame, change of order” in the cell, then it should read as: b12 (unique values). Based on the values, I can do a vlookup on the dates. I tried sumproduct in conjuction with search function but did not
work. Tried split function but did not quite work.

- Numbers in words (w/o DP) - give me the first underlined part
- Numbers in words(only DP) - give me the second underlined part
But I need to find a way to show then like in the example... The first and second part should appear together like if they were concatenated separated by space.

I am trying to convert a pedigree chart so I can put it in my family's genealogy book. I need to make some corrections on it. It was created on a MAC and I am on a PC. This may be part of the problem. I am on Windows 8 on a 1-year old Samsung computer laptop. I have Adobe Reader XI on it. It says that I can convert a PDF to an Excel or Word file for editing.

This is a great exercise to get familiar with LabVIEW's array functions. A great place to start is actually the LabVIEW help on arrays, located here:

Depending on your data format, you can probably use the Read From Spreadsheet File VI to bring your data into a 2-d array. You could then use the index array VI to pull your column out. You could do this in a For loop and use Autoindexing to build your 1,000 column resulting array. I would leave everything as a String format until I'm done.
This doesn't sound like a very difficult task. Good luck!

I am my data in tdines..........
i am having two fields data in single line separated by comma.
Now i moved tdlines data to V1.
i have to use split statemnt by using comma so that it should get in to V2 and V3
EX: 1234a,65432a
this is tdlines.
i have moved that to V1.
so V1 = 1234a,65432a
I wanted to get
V2 = 1234a
V3 = 65432a
Please tell the syntax

split text1 at var into table it_text. " chops the string at value in "var"(put ',' in this var) and puts sequentially in table it_text(field shud b char)
or
split text1 at var into text1 text2 text2. " into individual variables

Separating a sentence into words

hi there..what is the best or most efficient algorithm for separating a string into words? the string contains a sentences and phrases, and i would like to have them separated into words..how can i do this manually? without using a native java method?

You question can be best answered by using the Java native method

The string tokenizer is provided a sentence and a set of separators. In this case the blank, new-line, comma and period. So, the basic idea is:
Start from the beginning of the sentence provided.
Scan each character and check if it is the one specified as separators.
If it is, print all the character/s before the separator.
Start again from the position right after the sepator and follow the same technique to iterate through the whole sentence.
I hope that will help you to implement your own algorithm.

Not sure what you mean by "tried to use Word". ExportPDF doesn't change what Word can do. Can you explain what you try and what happens in more detail?

How to retrieve different data separated by comma into one column

Hi all,
We have a Custom View.In that some of the customer's Bill-To address is different remaining all columns contain same data.In that case if we query with that customer_number it displays more than one row with different Bill-to addresses,it is fine.But our requirement is we need to display only one row for that customer_number and Bill-to address column shows all Bill-to addresses corresponding to that customer separated by comma.
Could anyone give us any idea to solve this.

Two strings and a numeric value to write to a measurement file

Hi all, I need to write two string values and a number value to file. I made a basic VI showing what is needed. I figured to cheat a little by sending my time stamp to the comment node. I then converted the id string to a decimal number and merged it to my numeric value. All is great with the output in Excel, accept my ID string dropped the last two digits and replaced them with a zero. Even if I used a numeric constant with this same value, it replaces the last to with zero's. The problem seems to reside with the write to measurement file VI. If I open it directly with wordpad it saves it as 2.602189E+8. Any ideas to save these three values? Thanks

When you use one of the Express VIs, you are limited to what you can do. The Write to Measurement File expects to writing measurements (numerics) and not string constants so eveything gets converted to floating point. You could probably modify it but using the lower level file I/O functions is just as simple. Here's a modification. I put the file write inside the loop because I would assume you want every value written. With your example, you would only save the very last iteration. If you do only want to save the last result, then it can be suitably modified.

Is it possible to read the contents of an Excel cell in DIAdem and assign its value to a variable in a VBS script.

Initially I thought this little problem would be relatively straight forward but now I’m not so sure. I am familiar with the mechanism by which DIAdem communicates with Excel and how to change the contents of a cell via a VBS script. In my task the contents of the cell in the first row, first column of MyProblem.xls contains the text “DIAdem”. I would like to be able to read this value and assign it to the variable MyString. I originally thought of doing something simple like this:

At this point I would have hoped that MyString would have been set equal to “DIAdem” and I could have used MyString to change the name of a channel in the data portal if I desired using the following code:

Doesn’t seem to work though. I’m guessing it is because MyString has not picked up the value of the contents of the cell? Can anybody propose a solution to my problem or indeed confirm whether what I am proposing to do is technically feasible.

Just staring at your ActiveX code, it looks fine to me. My first thought is that this should work as you outlined it, and I've done this sort of thing many times, so I know it can work. My second thought though, is that what you probably really want is a DataPlugin and not a VBScript. Then you could just drag&drop the Excel file into the Data Portal and load all the properties and channels you want from the Excel file. If you have DIAdem 2010 or later you can use the SpreadSheet reader object in the DataPlugin to avoid the Excel ActiveX functions (and Excel's jealously with other applications trying to read a file it has open already).

Jsp:useBean and assigning a value to that bean

I have a type called Country and I have declared a bean using the "jsp:useBean" syntax.
I then try to assign a value to that bean in a scriptlet. Eventually I try to retrieve the values using "jsp:getProperty". The problem is that it appears to null.

I have added scope="application". It still show "null" indicating that the bean is not initialized with the properties. I would like a quicker way to initialize a bean property than invoking the setProperty tag for each property.
Here is a simple example that demonstrates the problem:

Bring 2 datas at the same time and assign that value to my item

Hi everybody, I have a trigger called WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE where I have the following select: Select to_char(sysdate,'yy') into :mat from dual.
This select brings me the year from the system, but I would like to put together the year and the consecutive number of another table to have something like this: 09-0001 and add this value to the item called :mat.
Is this possible?

You can try what Brown has suggested.
But in case you want a running number , then sequence might not help.
What we used to do in this case is, we used to store a number in one seperate table (with other parameters like year, item code and so on), and select the max of this number +1 concatinated with year or whatever format you require.
And at the end update that number with number+1.
Say table series has columns
year month series
09 01 22
Now when you select this number series+1 and update in you empid prefixed/suficed with some other field, then do remember to update this field. That means at the end of the transaction the record in this table would be
09 01 23.
This is a unique idea and can be utilized for generating ID based on year month series format.
Just define them in the table and use them accordingly in your code.

Popup Key LOV, NULL and "Invalid numeric value undefined for column"

Hello.
I've created an item based on database column of NUMBER type and set the following properties:
Display As = Popup Key LOV (Displays description, returns key value)
List of values definition=select 'display_value' d, 1 r from dual
Null display value=%
Null return value=
Display Null=Yes
When I select "%" in the LOV and try to apply changes to database I get error:
ORA-20001: Error in DML: p_rowid=1781, p_alt_rowid=N1, p_rowid2=, p_alt_rowid2=. ORA-20001: Invalid numeric value undefined for column N2
Error Unable to process row of table TTT.
If I set Display As = Select List, all works fine. But I need Popup Key LOV.
Could anybody help me?

I did my homework and solved this issue. First I would like to thank Patrick Wolf for the invaluable help he gives out on thread Re: Null value handling in LOVs The code presented here is just a minor edit to his code, but an essential one when dealing with Popup Key LOV items.
Here's what I did:
1. Create an Application Process.
Name: RemoveNulls
Sequence: 0
Point: On Submit: After Page Submission - Before Computations and Validations
Process Text:

h.no:123,colony,area,hyd-59.now i have even other columns in this flat file like customer name,age.....i want to know ,how to load this data into infocube. where in when it comes to address column sap bi takes it as a single column in the generated report.

To get reports on all ur records save ur flat file in .CSV format -> to do this open ur flat file, save as "filename.csv".
-> CSV is nothing but comma seperator value, sap supports two types of formats 1).csv and 2) ASCII format.
we prefer .csv format.
