Spotify crashes with ALSA. Segmentation Fault

Spotify crashes on song-change with ALSA. "Segmentation Fault".
Spotify works like a charm when I use pulseaudio. But i dont want to use pulseaudio, i want it to work with ALSA.
So I have completly removed pulseaudio.
Ive tried editing /usr/bin/spotify, xaos3k suggestion on the AUR page.
Tried symlinking libcrypto and libssl.
But still cant get it to work.

    I tried do set up and start the OpenLDAP server as it is delivered with my iMac and OS X Tiger 10.4.5.

    I just discovered that I have this "issue" with my Macbook as well. Did you install openldap & berkley db with fink or by hand? Could you provide some details on how you managed to get this problem fixed?

    I tried installing Infinality-bundle+fonts and it fixed the problem.
    So there was a problem with my fonts, I don't know why this happened but I'm happy to have solved.

  • Any workarounds for the X11 apps segmentation faults on intel with 10.4.8 ?

    Hi,
    We've an X11 application, compiled for PPC, which runs fine with a G5 iMac on 10.4.8. However, it crashes with a segmentation fault on a MacBook Pro with 10.4.8 (running through Rosetta).
    Searching the web, we found that this seems to be a widespread problem for X11 apps running on Intel Macs with 10.4.8.
    Has this been submitted as an important bug to Apple?
    Are there any workarounds for it?
    Is the problem specific to PPC-only builds, or does it also happen with Universal builds?

    A powerpc-binary program running under Rosetta can only load powerpc-binary modules...can't cross in and out of emulation within a single process. Perhaps your program is trying to load a module from X11 that is present as an intel-only binary? Rosetta is certainly no future-looking cure-all, just a stop-gap to allow one to keep using older stuff, and it is kinda fragile sometimes. If your target audience is both powerpc and intel machines, compile as a universal binary so it's native for everyone.

    Adobe Reader 9.3 cannot open signed pdf files on our system (64-bit Fedora 10 Linux, with 32-bit compatibility libraries installed). It crashes with a segmentation fault any time one tries to open the following file:

    If I run the gdb debugger on /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/bin/acroread, it shows the segmentation fault occurring inside /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Reader/intellinux/plug_ins/PPKLite.api (but since the file is stripped, all it shows is the binary offset of the segfault). I do have a coredump, though.
    If I remove the PPKLite.api file (or rename it to PPKLite.api.hide -- note that chmod -x does not work, nor does renaming it to something else that still ends in .api, unlike some workarounds I've seen on the web for similar problems in earlier versions of Adobe Reader), then Adobe Reader can open the file without crashing, except that without PPKLite it cannot validate its signature and so it displays the message "This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document" -- which I assume is because the signature validation failed due to the absence of PPKLite so it things the document has been altered even though it hasn't been.
    So this removing or renaming of PPKLite.api works around the problem of the crash, at the expense of getting this misleading warning message.
    However, obviously there is a problem inside PPKLite.api that needs to be fixed....

    I'm seeing what must be the same issue: acroread foo.pdf exits almost instantly without any message, but with status 1.
    This is: AdobeReader_enu-9.3.1-1.i486 on a Fedora 12 box,  AMD Phenom II 945.
    If I set ACRODEBUG=1 and ACRO_CRASHLOG=1 and ulimit -c unlimited, and rename PPKLite.api,  *then* I get a nonzero crashlog. Which is:

  • Segmentation Fault on Solaris JVM

    Hi,
    We have a Java application that executes all 'C' code through JNI code.
    It works fine on NT but on solaris, the JVM suddenly crashes with a
    segmentation fault. The crashes are random. We did a lot of debugging to ensure that the JVM doesn't crash when we are in the 'C' code.
    We are using jdk1.4.0-b92. Any ideas?

    I had same segmentation fault and found out some char array variable's value length is over the size of char array variable. After fixed it, then it doesn't have that segmentation fault.
    In Solaris, when I use java JFileChooser to select a file, the file path usually including a lot of "../" which causes a path over 200 char long. When I assigned that path to a char array variable which only have 200 char length, the segmentation fault happened.

  • Cannot install yosemite - segmentation fault

    I downloaded Yosemite from Snow Leopard, however the installer consistently crashes with a segmentation fault on the main thread.
    The installer comes up with a list of the PPC application that will no longer work under Yosemite and upon pressing 'continue' consistently crashes.

    I'm not sure what "invalid port" in "storeagent" refers to, however the missing libraries might suggest a corrupted download.
    Bandwidth is still a precious commodity in these parts, and that download just ate up a fair chunk of my data limit. So my question is whether my hunch is correct or whether I should look elsewhere for the cause. I will have to wait until later in the month to try the download again.

  • [SOLVED] Steam Client Segmentation Fault

    The Steam client crashes with a segmentation fault when attempting to run "STEAM_RUNTIME=0 steam".
    This wouldn't be so much of an issue if disabling the runtime wasn't required by SimpleScreenRecorder to inject it's libraries into steam games.
    I've run steam through gdb with runtime disabled, here are a few errors that stand out:

    After a few hours of looking for answers, it seems that Steam requires an older version of lib32-glibc than what is currently installed,
    although continues to functions so long as runtime is enabled by default. Running steam with default settings through gdb showed no
    errors regarding either "libtier0_s.so" or "libc.so.6".
    Is there a way to obtain an older package of lib32-glibc from the repo to test if this is the culprit?
    Building and compiling glibc from source is just a little bit outside my realm of understanding.

    I think that when Steam runs with runtime disabled, it is supposed to use the 32bit libraries, but it doesn't search
    in /usr/lib32 when the runtime is disabled. I rolled back lib32-glibc to 2.20-2 (Dec 1st, 04) and there was no change.
    Any ideas?

  • Safari and Mail.app crash with SIGSEGV after Monolingual / upgrade

    In order to upgrade to snow leopard, I had to free a bunch of disk space. So, I foolishly ran Monolingual to remove unused languages. I don't recall exactly which I removed, but I do remember that I did not remove Japanese. I then upgraded to Snow Leopard, but now I have a Safari and a Mail.app that crash consistently with segmentation faults.
    Mail.app crashes anytime I attempt to view a message with Japanese characters in it. I click the subject line, it tries to display it, and then crashes with a segmentation fault in Dispatch queue: com.apple.root.default-priority in the com.apple.datadetectorscore _FillNextTokenInCache method.
    Safari crashes in HistoryTextCache caching from the method com.apple.SearchKit UniCharParserGetNextWord after a few pages (5m) of browsing. Doesn't seem to matter what pages I'm viewing. Although I can force it to crash just after successfully rendering a page with japanese characters by visiting such a page.
    They repeatably crash the same way. Is there any way to fix this without having to reinstall the OS?

    I'm still having this problem. Anybody have any ideas?

    This is mozilla firefox from xubuntu repository, here's the details:
    firefox 35.0.1+build amd64
    I tried to reinstall the package, remove the extension xul-ext-webaccounts, and create a new profile without success.
    I don't know if the previous segmentation faults may be related to the recent flash security bugs CVE-2015-0313..
    Anyway I checked the plugin and updated the shockwave flash plugin from 11.2.202.440 to 11.2.202.442
    Now I experienced a crash of the shockwave flash plugin again, but it lets the browser and os responsive.

    I don't know if disabling hardware accelaration from the adobe player could be effective.. Anyway I can't follow the guide at https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues becouse the right click context menu "Settings" of the flash player appears not clickable (disabled)
    Anyway I'll turn off the hardware accelaration option from the browser.
    Unfortunatly I haven't tested the 32 bit version from mozilla repo yet.

  • AFS Segmentation Fault Crashes

    New MacMini Server running 10.6.4, I believe (at home right now.) In my first day of production deployment, I saw 2 AFS crashes with a segmentation error in one of the logs. I'll post exact messages tomorrow. The Mac Mini came with 2 partitions or hard drives. I also got a time machine error, maybe at the same time. I turned Time Machine off and will see if it crashed last night. Just wondering if there is a known issue with partitions and time machine and AFS. I also have a folder copied over from the old server, with some preserved protections (but a different OD), so I am also wondering if this could have something to do with it.
    Not off to the best start upgrading from an old G4 10.3 server, which never, ever crashed.

    I checked and this is 10.6.4. Also, I believe this may have happened at the same time TimeMachine crashes. I am going to try and reproduce the problem off hours by running Time Machine again. I also had one OD crash, which may or may not be related.
    No crash last night with Time Machine turned off.

    The menu file still exists but becomes completely empty and useless.

    I've rebuilt conduit with webkit and GIO support by patching the file defs.py.in in the source directory, however the segfault still occurs on my machine. The only difference is that the run-mozilla.sh error is not given but instead a blank line. Perhaps this is related to a specific plugin not working correctly.
    edit: this is also occuring with conduit 0.3.14 release. I may try the SVN version later today.

    I had the same problem when using spotify-beta. I went back to spotify 0.8.4.103-1 in AUR and everytime before launching spotify, I would clear its cache by
    rm -r ~/.cache/spotify
    I haven't had any crash after doing that. I'm not sure if that is the fix, but it worked well for me.

  • [Solved] pSX Segmentation Fault - [Partially Solved] pSX problems

    Alright, I think that I've solved the segmentation fault thing that was happening in pSX whenever I ran it (I use Arch x86_64).  I'm not sure what was wrong, but after installing lib32-intel-dri-7.11.2-2 via pacman pSX appeared to work fine.  The only other problems I've encountered so far is that (1) installing one of the alsa plugin things (not sure which one since I was installing more than one at the time) seems to make it crash and stay crashed as long as the plugins are installed, (2) another problem was that when I try to load a savestate while running a loaded savestate of Final Fantasy 7 in pSX (I say FF7 because that's the only game I've tried playing so far) causes pSX to crash with a segmentation error, (3) and the last problem, which does happen to be the least important/crippling is that while pSX is running I keep getting a message displayed to xterm saying: "sound: underrun".  That's pretty much it.  So if any of you have been having trouble getting pSX to run on an x86_64 install of Arch/have been getting segmentation fault errors when you try to run pSX on Arch x86_64 just install lib32-intel-dri or the applicable alternative and it should hopefully work.

    To whoever could help me, I wish to describe a big problem I am facing on my SOLARIS 9 server (UltraSparc III+).
    I am porting some C applications (without multithread) from UNIX SCO to Solaris 9 (I am using Sun Studio 10.),
    but all the executables generated end with a Segmentation Fault(coredump).
    For instance, when using dbx with my ua_wait executable, going step by step I can see the program execution without any error
    till the end of the program (the last closing brackets): after that, the program crashes.
    Additionally, when launching dbx with the following command:
    dbx -C -I /usr1/source/UA605/UTOOLS bin/ua_wait
    I get the following output:
